We are new to the area and we're happy to find this place. Nice comfortable pub with a neighborhood vibe. Our waitress was excellent and very friendly. My friend enjoyed his cold bottled beers. I was driving so I had a few sodas that day. He really enjoyed his steak fajita wrap and fries (we both liked the fries). I ordered a pepperoni pizza which was really good and we split an order of the most delicious onion rings!! I'm going back for the onion rings alone for sure, they are my favorite now. Almost There.... Means, youre almost someplace you can stop to eat, but this isnt it. Came in for dinner for out first night on vacation annnnd.... rough start. Restaurant is nice and the decor was very sports bar. My kinda place. Then the bad news... Ordered the buffalo chicken wrap and my wife the fish sandwich. My wrap was empty... really empty. The entire wrap had 2 thin chicken fingers in it that were 90% batter. Each bite was basically the wrap. I can legitimately say that a wrap from Shaws had significantly more meat and substance than this, and at 1/3 the price. To make sure I am being fair, the fries were good, just not a lot. My wife's sandwich was interesting to say the least. By looks, it looked great. Big piece of fish that hung over the bread. Then the taste... The fish was thinner than a piece of paper, gray and dry. She barely touched her plate. The server was nice, the problem is, after the food got dropped off, disappeared. We were never offered refills on our $3 cokes and no "was everything ok?" Which you'd think someone might ask if a person sent back an entire sandwich thats barely touched. End of the day, disappointing. I never order beef at a restaurant but for whatever reason, I was craving it and went with their CLUCK & CHUCK Lightly breaded crispy chicken tenders and char-grilled marinated Angus steak tips served with mashed and butternut squash! We went to Almost There with a small group and thought that it was a fun place. The rustic bar look was pretty cool. Our waitress, Kamara, was super friendly and amazing!! A solid extra star or two for her! The food was okay, but certainly not great. We started with onion rings, which were hand cut, and not bad, but nothing to write home about. I had the fish and chips. I found the fish to be a tad rubbery with a not so great flavor in some bites, but the batter was okay. The fries were the best thing hands down! There was a lot to choose from on the menu, so if I went back, which would be because of the awesome service, I would definitely order something different. read more

The food was mediocre at best. We sat outside which was lovely but you are only offered plastic silverware. Not even quality plastic silverware! Cheap plastic silverware. Our appetizer came out lukewarm. The pizza was probably the best of the entire shared meal and it wasn't great pizza. Stopped in here for dinner, drinks, and keno. The drinks and keno were good. They should rename this place Not Even Close. I ordered the steak tip dinner. $29 for 3 steak tips. The mashed potatoes were lumpy and barely room temperature and the "fresh" vegetables were tasteless frozen string beans and carrots. My friend got a medium well burger that came out mooing! If you can't tell how a burger is done please use a thermometer! The staff were very nice. I'd recommend for drinks and keno but the food left a lot to be desired. read more

Went here with the fam tonight. Asked for a burger medium rare it came well done. I have never sent things back however I hoped that ordering medium rare I at least would get medium but not this time. It was so over cooked I didn't even bite into it. My father in law asked for a side salad to replace of his Fries and we were told it's not allowed. He ordered a side salad instead and it never ended up coming and had them take it off the check. He also ordered a double gin and tonic in a short glass on the rocks. They brought a tall glass and he informed them he asked for a short glass. They took it away and came back and told us that it's not allowed to be served in a short glass....what ? We saw them take it away and the waitress rolled her eyes. We won't be back. I'm kind of shocked this place has over 4 stars. I will say the prices are excellent and my burger the 2nd time around came back medium and not medium rare was tasty but that does not make up for the poor service and " we aren't allowed" and eye rolls. read more

Tonight my waitress slightly screwed up my order and then took care or it however she dodged the blame. She proceeded to systematically check with all her other tables except ours until it was time to pay. I am still waiting on a drink refill. I hope she comes before my dinner is cold. In a place where there are multiple chain restaurants, it was nice to find a small, just off the beaten path place, where obviously the locals go. Small bar with two main rooms. We sat in the bar area and had a really nice waitress, who was attentive but not overbearing. The menu was huge and it had some good sandwich, salads, burgers and main courses. My hiking companions and I like to try a different place every time we are in the white mountain area. This was our pick this week, and boy were we not let down at all. It's a sports tavern and defiantly caters to that demographic. The inside is done up in New England sports memorabilia and fun tokens. There are badges of fire, police, rescue and more along the back bar wall. The inside furniture is very nice, there's a lot of nice wood pieces and a center bar with stools for a large group of friends. We started with drinks from the bar that were to be honest a bit weak. A bit more booze for the price wouldn't hurt. We then had a special of cream cheese poppers. Nothing too special or original but they were very good. Then we each had the chicken supreme because it just sounded so delicious. I'm happy to report that we were both pleased beyond belief. Some of the best fried chicken sandwiches I've ever had the pleasure of eating... I can't say enough good things about their fried foods. Even their French fries were delicious. Their onion rings had the most heavenly batter wrapped around thing string onions. Kiss to the chef ! Kiss the person who orders their batter !! Definitely could be rougher with a devil may care kitchen. But Almost There takes the high road. Looks, acts and smells like a biker bar lite, and subsequently attracts that crowd - weekend warriors, warm and welcoming locals and passers-through. Get lucky and you'll catch live music (no cover), which will get your hip slapping in high gear despite the fact your pool playing abilities are stricken for the set. Menu is fry heavy, with pizzas and burgers. I had a buffalo chicken sandwich and the wife and kid split chicken fingers and fries. Mozzarella moons for the bonus dish! Pleased as punch with mine - double battered, carnie style fries and a solid hunk o' breast under melted blue cheese crumbles and a major buffalo sauce (allegedly XXHot but totally manageable). Quality produce and bun rounded out the $11 meal. Skip the mozz moons - two of the three pillows were burst and cheeseless. Le sob. 20oz drafts run $5.25 and the servers are seasoned charmers who keep the peace. Place packs so expect a wait, especially with a large crowd. How busy? My wife and I stopped here while visiting North Conway. The place is more or less a bar that serves food. Pretty good food for bar food. We ate outside on the picnic tables and enjoyed the warm September evening. Our waitress was very friendly and accommodating. We were attended to but not rushed. We ordered the onion rings and we both had the fish and shrimp with fries. We were pleasantly surprised with the portions. The fish was done perfectly and the shrimp were plump, battered and fried to a golden brown. They were nice and juicy and not overcooked. The fries were crispy and plentiful. The onion rings order was huge. I'm glad we only ordered one to share. We were well attended to and enjoyed our meal.
