Very disappointing experience at Alo Yoga today. I visited the store as a loyal customer and own several Alo items that I've spent hundreds of dollars on over time. When I walked in, the employee at the front did not greet me or acknowledge me at all, while others seemed to receive attention. It made me feel ignored and unwelcome, and I left feeling disappointed. I value good customer service and believe every customer should be treated with respect regardless of age or appearance. I had absolutely NO plans to purchase anything here at Alo. BUT!!!! When you walk in and the first thing you see is your favorite color AND your friend tells you to try it on, you cannot win the battle, lol!! I tried on the jacket and it was pure love! Brianna helped us, and was very informative. I am so in love with my newest jacket! The cold weather can't come soon enough! Alo is very pricey, but it's all about the quality and the label. I never thought I'd actually buy something let alone a regular priced item!! This location at The Grove has 2 levels and the employees keep it well organized. They have a small shoe section in the back along with accessories like belt bags and hats. They even have a small body/facial care line of products near the registers. I would recommend coming here for quality items that you will treasure forever. I'll have to pop in here again when my friend takes me back, lol. Today is December 3, 2025, and I am well aware of where our government stands on issues of inequality. But it is unacceptable that in 2025, in a diverse state like California, I would experience the kind of discriminatory and dismissive treatment I received today at the Grove location. I came in to make a return for an item that was purchased at full price, with the receipt in hand. Despite that, the employee processed the return using the current price rather than the amount I actually paid, while holding the receipt that clearly showed the correct total. After completing the transaction incorrectly, he informed me that "there was nothing he could do" because it had already been processed. That is completely unreasonable. Why would anyone issue a refund for an amount different from what the customer paid when proof of purchase is right there? When I asked for the refund to be corrected, I was told to "call customer service" rather than receiving any real assistance or accountability. The dismissive attitude, combined with the clear undertone of bias in the interaction, was unacceptable. I am deeply disappointed, not only in the lack of professionalism but in the underlying discriminatory behavior I experienced. I will be escalating this issue immediately. I intend to identify the district manager and ensure that this incident along with the employee's conduct is formally documented and addressed. As someone who is also part of a minority community, I find it especially troubling and disheartening to be treated with such blatant disrespect. No one deserves to be dismissed, demeaned, or discriminated against under any circumstances. For identification purposes, the employee in question was a heavy-set male with unattractive features, and he was working the counter at the time of my visit. His appearance is not the issue, his conduct was. His unprofessional, dismissive, and biased behavior was entirely unacceptable and completely out of line with any standard of customer service. This was my first experience ordering with ALO and was Extremely disappointed with the pick up in store policy. I ordered a jacket during their sale and received an email on 11/06/25 indicating the jacket was in and had to be picked up by 11/09. They GIVE you 3 whole days to pick are you kidding me. Unfortunately I was out of town and returned on 11/09. I had several emails from them on 11/09 one around noon saying I had till 11/09 to pick up the order, another at 6pm saying my order was being cancelled. Then I received another email saying "Thank you for your return request" and attached a return label, really I didn't ask for a return. I called customer service Monday morning to see if I could still pick up the order and was told no and that my account had already been credited however, I could re-purchase at the original price. I've tried to buy a gift for my friend and this really rude worker was there and I didn't have enough money because I was splitting the pay with my friend and she was so rude and she was saying that if she accidentally charged my friend double then she would have to go to the bank and deal with it. I've thought about writing this review long and hard because we all arent perfect and we face our own demons on a daily basis but let me tell you this rep was mean and just nasty. I called the store because I received an alert in my email about "early access". This means if you are an avid shopper and have an account, they sent you priority picks on launches that will happen within a couple of days. I called in to find out if it was going launch Tuesday or Wednesday and I get this really snooty lady named Dominique, also known as Dom. (manager by the way). And I ask her, "hey, I received an alert online about some upcoming launches, could you let me know what that is about?" she replied, "oh, I don't know..." -_- I'm thinking to myself, this is why I'm calling, now granted maybe it's a corporate directive to not disclose anything to consumers prior to launching and i totally get that, however, why send us an email and be super discreet about what the known is? Then this is what really set me off. I asked her, does anyone else know? and she said in a sarcastic tone...no, as if she was the highest in the chain. I take great pride in my work so if I'm spending money in a companies product, I expect the same. To be honest, I think she was super sick of her job and it really does show. Customers don't deserve this. Abercrombie and Fitch did it to their customers and look where it has gotten them now? re-branding and a thousand apologies. This store specifically is giving me that old A&F vibe and trust me Dom/Dominique, the fire runs out really fast and you'll experience a very cold world. Do us all a favor if you are not pleased with your job or customer service in general, why not go to a different profession, I don't know, like working at the DMV in the back office, where you don't converse with the public. Normally, one would not catch me walking into an Alo store. I don't do yoga, nor am I into the line (or lululemon, or any company that has that kind of cult following) so I have to step up, swallow my pride and eat my words here when it comes to this review. I actually came in since the three other people I was with were determined to shop here so I kind of had no choice. Was greeted immediately by a younger girl up front which was surprising since most places like this don't care for my type (non-workout/leggings). Two of our party were male, so upstairs we went, where there was still a small selection of womenswear. There was some decent seating as we waited for them to try on multiple outfits, and I actually took a look around. There was a pair of shorts that caught my eye, and I was curious to see what their sizing was. Seeing they start some of their stuff at XXS, I dreaded the fact that I was most likely in between sizing when it came to this brand. However I have to say the girl who was working upstairs was nice, and willing to find sizes for me in the shorts that I was checking out. One of our parties ended up buying about five items, and the rest of us were just making our way out front when one girl said she found an XS in the shorts I had my eye on. I appreciated the fact that she took the time to look, but I was on my way out so I didn't get a chance to try them on. I was impressed by the decent customer service here, when I had expected the opposite. I was trying on a hoodie and from a distance a male employee was staring at me and walked away , I took it off and he came back just staring again , then I put it back on the hanger and he continued to stare at me . On several reasons ..... 1) Lululemon quality does not even compete or compare with ALO , from quality to style . 2) Lululemon has the worst customer service hence my last Yelp review on their grove store manager . I want to thank GOHAR the store manager for taking initiative on my recent order that got mixed up by their online store purchase and she got straight to a solution right away . She didn't bother with the run around and went straight to a resolution to make a customer happy and on their way . This review is for the yoga studio upstairs. It is a beautiful welcoming space. Towels and yoga mats are provided. I have taken a handful of classes and they all have been excellent. Like one of the instructors mentioned to me, this studio allows them to create their own class without bounding them to a set of required poses or style. By doing this I feel that every class is not only unique and challenging but also has an extra feel of positivity and happiness that comes with the instructor's freedom to lead the practice. With that being said, the schedule is accurate on the type of class (vinyasa flow, power flow, core, etc) just the class won't be the same sequence every time as it is with other studios. Love my Alo! Hate when people hate on Alo because my Alo has been with me for almost three years and they look sooo good still. I have like 5 pairs of the same legging (airlift). Also last time I went the girl was so sweet and exchanged my damaged pair of Alo leggings no questions, because I had just bought them! I'm not sure what took me so long to buy anything at Alo yoga, but I'm so happy I discovered them! What I like about the clothes is they are luxury athleisure: so cute, so functional. And did I say so cute! I have a crush on this brand. And the store at the Grove is amazing. The sales people are very nice and when you have to exchange stuff for smaller sizes they are so helpful. The only thing I don't like is they never answer their phone when you call to ask a question. But I don't mind, it just means I get to shop in person. I think I have an addiction. I've bought 12 items so are and the beauty line too. I prefer their clothes over Lululemon because they're more luxury and fashion forward without looking like you're trying too hard.
