When there are large dark stains on the carpeting in your guest room-- and, your wife refuses to take off her shoes-- you might be in a crappy hotel. When the valet does not come outside to get your car keys, and you instead have to walk inside to explain to the stoned parking attendant why you're giving him your keys-- you might be in a crappy hotel. WARNING - DON'T BOOK HERE - Overpaid for this awful hotel where the first room they put us in had urine on the mattress, they moved us to another room reluctantly, and the next room had blood AND urine on the mattress. Disgusting. "Manager" at the front desk told me they couldn't do anything for us since we booked through a third party. We contacted booking.com and they told us they couldn't refund because the manager told them that they offered to change the mattress. That was a lie, otherwise we obviously would have taken them up on this because who in their right mind would sleep on this. Sometimes it's hard to decide what to rate places, but this is an easy 5 stars. Fantastic modern/clean/minimalistic atmosphere, dog friendly, comfy beds, nice open rooms, big windows, helpful staff, free morning coffee, game room, fireplace, cool bar, and more. Also a convenient location in the city (many bars and restaurants within walking distance), just be prepared to either pay $8 for overnight street parking or $30 for valet (they don't have their own parking lot). Only stayed one night but loved it and already can't wait to come back next time we're in town! read more

Great, clean hotel to stay at. Due to attending a basketball game, I wanted to stay somewhere that was close in the area and this place was literally in walking distance to the arena. Outside of it being super close and convenient, there was also plenty of dining options to choose from, which is great and better than paying 50 bucks for a drop of cheese and stale nachos, like at most stadiums. Valet options are available as soon as you pull up and when you walk in there is plenty of staff available to help. Other perks are - it's right on the River so the views are great, free WiFi, there a bar/lounge, and a pantry to grab foods from that doesn't cost and arm and a leg. Plus, since they are now owned by Marriott, you can rack up those points! read more

My mom and I stayed here while visiting Milwaukee this summer. We had a nice experience. Though we did not hang out in the lobby/lounge area, many others did. There were always people there enjoying each others company. The staff at the front desk were all very nice. Upon arrival, my mom and I were able to check our bags, so that we could go to a Brewer's game. (It was way too early to check into our room.) Great location if you are in town for an event at Fiserv Forum, as it is right across the street. (Darn you Shawn Mendes!!!) The customer service here sucks. I walked in and was waiting for my husband to check in. The girl at the desk was super aggressive. I said "can we just wait until my husband gets inside the building since he made the reservation?" (I don't know what kind of room he reserved etc) She goes on- "Well what's your last name... ." Girl. Chill. She was so happy to tell me that they had no rooms available. Ok. That's ok. Calm down. She starts to grab our luggage. Again, can we just wait for a minute till my husband is done with the valet. It's 1 pm and there are no rooms to check into till 4 pm. BS. I don't believe you. I just think they like to jerk you around. The manager comes out and says "well do you want us to cancel your reservation?" Super threatening. No one even suggested that. These people need to calm down. Zero attention to customer service. I have stayed here several times and I don't remember the tone being so off. Boo. Can't recommend at all. The manager was extremely rude and threatened to call the police on me if I left my dogs in my room unattended. I had booked it because it was pet friendly and had plans to go to a concert. I never saw that policy before and I stayed there numerous times in the past. He was so rude and nasty to me. I have never experienced such horrible customer service in my life. I have been an Elite Bonvoy member for years. Shame on Marriott for allowing such a horrible manager to run the hotel. He obviously can't stand dogs. Easy in, great valet service, and a kind and efficient staff welcome you to the modern lobby, replete with WXYZ bar, a fitness room you'll actually use, and a decent indoor pool. The rooms are a dream if you and your partner travel with two clamshell suitcases - there's a big bench where they can unfold side by side. Great views on the river side, comfy beds with nice sheets, and a television with easy Netflix. I've stayed here five times now, always a pleasure. read more

I don't love the rooms, but the location is good. The rooms are, by design, rather small and spare. These rooms are okay for one night, but I would not like them for much longer than that. However, the location worked perfectly for us because it is within sight of the FiServ Forum where we were going to see a concert. We needed the hotel for a place to crash after the show and it worked well for that purpose. The wife did not like that there is a frosted window in the bathroom/bedroom wall. I did not like that the bathroom has a pocket door, which provides minimal privacy and makes a bunch of noise if you need to use it at night, waking up whoever is trying to sleep. How about a real door? My complaint about the room is that it was freezing cold when we arrived and we had to crank the heat to ridiculous levels to warm up the room. That worked eventually, but a hotel room should be a reasonable temperature when guests arrive. The hotel staff is nice and the lobby is nicely designed and decorated. However, the valet parking is somewhat lackluster. The valet handed me the keys in the morning and said "it's right there." For that I could have parked it myself. read more

My husband and I are loyal Aloft customers. Every year since 2012 we have stayed at the Aloft Milwaukee to celebrate our anniversary. When we first started going the hotel was brand new and awesome. Boy have things changed. Our hotel phone did not work, there were burn holes in the carpet and the toilet paper dispenser was broken. The overall room was run down and looked dirty. When you are paying over 500 dollars for a weekend stay at a hotel you have high expectations. Unfortunately this will be our last stay at the hotel. We were so unimpressed and disappointed at the condition of the room and the amount we spent to stay there. read more

Such a Great stay I'm born and raised in Milwaukee I've lived in phoenix area since 2007 so a little more than 14yrs so when the Bucks vs Suns I felt like I was double in the playoffs my son Christopher's words he he he.......... I just happened to be in Milwaukee when the game was going on in Phoenix but the fanfare and the intensity was bananas!!! The hotel staff was beyond accommodating and courteous!!! From the valet guys making sure my friend car stayed right up front per his request$ to the bartender making a special recipe for shots can't remember what she called it but after my friend brought several rounds for everyone we became pretty popular!!! Lol I must mention management also housekeeping all polite and accommodating it was great to be home and this experience exceeded my expectations, this was my first stay at this location I've stayed at ALoft in other Cities and Locations read more

Aloft is okay and it gets the job done, but it seems a little pricey for what you really get. I'll start by saying the location is great - our room had an awesome view of the Milwaukee River and many of the popular restaurants of Old World Third Street. It's great to be walking distance from the River Walk and this popular street. The rooms are nice, but the bathroom area lacks in functionality as well as modernity. The wallpaper seems like an odd choice and little things like having the towel hooks behind the shower door so they're difficult to reach stand out as inconvenient. Plus, our toilet seat had a stain that had clearly been there for a while so that raises concerns about cleanliness standards. The valet is pretty silly - it's $30 a day for overnight parking, but it's not worth it in my experience. When we checked in we decided we might as well do valet for convenience and to ensure our car was safe, but after coming down from our room about an hour after checking in, we noticed our car was just parked literally right outside the front door of the hotel. At that point we decided to opt out of the valet (which they had absolutely no issue with, which was great) because it seemed pretty pointless and expensive. There are two lots directly across from the hotel that charge around $20 for overnight parking, so that's probably a better bet. As far as COVID precautions, I appreciated the several hand sanitizer stations throughout the hotel (in the lobby and near elevators), but it was annoying to see front desk employees wearing masks around their necks when talking directly to guests (including us) or wearing none at all pretty frequently. Overall our stay was good, but did I expect a little higher standard from a Marriott hotel. read more

This is decent Aloft, fairly standard setup. The location is not the best, slightly off, and a bit loud. The rooms are adequate, and clean. Staff and location are great. BUT the hotel is located right on the river and the trade off is you hear EVERY car that crosses over the bridge (E Knapp St) due to the grates in the bridge. It's a low monotone sounds but again you hear every single car. Maybe the rooms on the west side are quieter but don't expect and quiet night either. The doors and walls are very thin and you hear a lot of hallway noise as well. Parking is either valet or self park across the street. This is the same lot that the valet uses. $20 for 24 hrs. The hotel is at a great location downtown, right by the river. In the mornings, we were able to take our dog on a walk on the riverwalk. It's also close to restaurants and walking distance from most downtown attractions. The room itself was clean and cozy. We got a pet-friendly room. They even gave us a little gift pack for our dog, which I thought was the most adorable little touch. He really enjoyed his treats. There is water and tea in the lobby, but everything else is for sale. The downstairs gym and pool are really nice. Due to covid, they were doing reservations for the pool, so only your group would be in the pool. It was nice to have the pool to ourselves for our allotted time. The parking situation isn't great, though. There really isn't free street parking. They have valet, which parks at a SpotHero lot across the street. If you get valet, it's pricier but you have in and out privileges. If you just reserve your spot with SpotHero, it's cheaper, but you do not have in and out privileges. read more

Booked a room here over the weekend to attend a concert at the Fiserv Forum. I give one star simply because the location of the Hotel is ideal. It is walking distance to Fiserv and to some bars and restaurants in the area. The day staff seemed rushed but the afternoon and night staff seemed very polite. Complaints: The AC/Heat unit is ridiculous. The thermostat is set to heat yet the room goes from extremely hot (sweating) to extremely cold (freezing) in a matter of a minute. The unit blows directly on the bed so you can't avoid the air. We woke up constantly from sweating and then again a few minutes later because it was freezing. The pillows are the size of sofa throw pillows on a King size bed and were very uncomfortable. A night away from crying kids and we get less sleep then at home. Neither of the blinds worked properly with one completely out of order. Half the room had some sun with the other half dark. The broken blind was the one that faced the river too. The fancy retro clock set up in the room was off by about 8.5 hours. Toilet Paper dispenser was broken and tilted towards the floor with a wall that has been patched over multiple times. So when you grab a piece of TP the roll slides downward and falls to the floor. The worst thing I would say was the fact that our inner bathroom door had blood on it. Very disturbing and simply unacceptable. read more

We just returned from a weekend stay at the Aloft and had a wonderful stay. We got a great deal on our room, which ended up being a top floor corner complete with a river view. It's similar to any W that I've stayed at. Comfy, cozy, efficient. The room had the usual sleeping on a cloud bed. It also had hip style and decor. While our room had a mini fridge, it didn't have a dresser and you simply stored your clothes on the open shelves across from the sink. The shower was good. But, if you need your privacy in the lou, you don't have it here with the frosted glass side facing the bedroom. Like I said it's efficient. I'd also like to see an Ipod docking station. They gave us tons of SPG goodies which included coupons to use at the bar or food/snack area. Those ended up being clutch as we were able to grab a quick brekkie to start our day. They even cooked hot items, which is much needed as there is not an onsite restaurant. We swam in the lap pool, got some sun on the patio, worked out at the gym and chilled in the lounge/lobby area eating our breakfast. We used the valet during our stay and those guys were prompt and helpful with directions. I was a bit worried that it might get noisy, but we had no problems with that. The location is perfect and is right on the river by Old World 3rd Street. It's an easy walking location to the downtown and we strolled the river walk. You can also jump right on the highways from here too. The Aloft was perfect for us and we'll be back when we're in town. read more

Pet friendly I had an extended stay here a few years back and was very impressed with the accommodations. The room was not huge but the bed was super comfy with a great walk in shower. Parking is a bit pricey but cheaper options are available if you search around. Rates were very reasonable, around $100, thru Hotwire when booked the day-of. I'd have paid far more to stay with my pooch at someplace like the Iron Horse. Management was super friendly and even helped me score cheaper rates at other Aloft properties. read more

My friend and I were on a road trip in Milwaukee and last-minute booked a king room for a pretty good deal ($127). They have valet parking for something like $30 a night but we parked in the lot across the street for half the price. The location is convenient, right by the river and near a lot of restaurants and bars. They have complimentary coffee in the lobby in the morning and a small pool (open 24 hours) that you can see the riverwalk from. The lobby looked modern and cool, but I raised my eyebrow at several things upon walking into our room. 1. The windows are ~very~ easy to see through. Our room was located right at a 90-degree turn in the building (It's a U-shaped building), and we (accidentally) saw way more than what we wanted to see in the room next door. 2. The bathroom had a sliding door, and even when it was shut, there was a 2-inch gap. 3. I expected there to be a trash can in the bathroom, but there was only one trash can by the bed. 4. The mini-fridge was under the bathroom sink. 5. There was a semi-seethrough window between the room and the shower. We could only see silhouettes of each other, but still slightly non-ideal for 2 straight girls on a road trip. read more

I booked this room through a Priceline Express Deal so I did not know at booking which hotel it would be. I was very pleased when I received the email notification that this was the hotel. The location of this hotel was the biggest pro. You are within walking distance to so many activities in Milwaukee. We were celebrating a birthday and had some friends in from out of town so it was nice to showcase the city and convenience of walking to the old Pabst brewery complex and Milwaukee's nightlife on Old World 3rd. Once the new Bucks arena opens this place will be even better for visitors coming for concerts and Bucks games. BUT this location could be a con for some. If you're looking for quiet and calm, probably don't stay here. You will hear the traffic and activities of the city. Staff was friendly. We valet our car and the gentleman who helped us was helpful and courteous. The front desk attendant was prompt with check-in and giving us our room information. He also helped out when I need to buy advil from their store for a headache. At $5 for 4 tablets maybe walk to the Walgreens at the Grand Ave for cheaper options if you have time. While we didn't use the amenities, they offer a pool, gym, bar and game area for hotel guests. There is also a snack bar area to fuel up before or after big nights out. As for the room, it appeared to be very nice. But on closer inspection we saw the sheets didn't fit the bed. Weird. We also thought the hotel was starting to show its age. There was some wear and tear in the room like the bathroom door not fully closing and things appearing to be unclean when it was really just from excessive usage. None of these things ruined our stay just something to note. Even though the sheets didn't fit the bed was actually quite comfortable and I got a good night's sleep. We only stayed one night but overall felt we got a good value for a great location. A good place to rest your head while in Milwaukee! read more

Underwhelming hotel. If you are unfortunate enough to be located on the parking lot side of the hotel, the likelihood of loud noises (people fighting and drag racing, loud cars, etc.) seems to be quite common throughout the night. I was woken up multiple times both nights from midnight until 4 am. I noticed a card in the room that referenced city noises, so it seems like this is a pretty regular occurrence. Not sure if the windows are single pane, but they did nothing to drown out the noises, even from the fourth floor. Lots of other options in the area, so be sure to shop around. read more

Not impressed. Unfortunately, while the location is awesome, I couldn't really see beyond the sloppiness of our room. The remote (caked with dust), the clock (again, dust) the sink (slow and no water pressure), the shower (not pictured, but full of pink soap scum. If it were my own scum, that'd be one thing. Ha! But no...This shower looked like it hadn't been deep cleaned in a long time), the sheets (not dirty, but dingy looking. Definitely not a crisp white). The door lock was loose. Not exactly a lock. They didn't make the bed when they came to our room. At best, they left fresh towels. Lastly, in the room itself, the bathroom door didn't close!! There was at least a 2 inch gap. There was absolutely no privacy for the most private things: using the toilet and showering! Not only is the door open, the shower was gross. 1-ply toilet paper on a lose holder. Everyone was very polite. It didn't matter though. I feel like any cool, modern atmosphere was completely lost because it was so dirty. There are plenty of places to stay in DT Milwaukee. While you can definitely hear the street noise, that didn't bug me. The view out the window was great. We will be trying somewhere else next time. read more

This hotel! Oh the drama! The drama....that I caused, but not really drama. I arrived with my family for a wedding and Aloft was the most outgoing, accommodating, friendly and responsive hotel I have stayed at in a long time. They originally placed my grandma in a room far from the elevator. She's 80 with a cane, so after one trip to her room and back, she was rather winded. I asked the front desk if there was a way to be closer to the elevator and they worked their magic and boy was my grandma thankful. I was set to check in the next day for the wedding, and I was inquired if I could check in a few hours early...like breakfast time! 'We aren't sure if there is availability, but come back in an hour and let's see if I can work any magic.' They did and I had a great view of the new Bucks arena. This place is magical. Ha. I wish I had gotten everybody's name who helped me. Thank you for an amazing weekend, and I look forward to trying out more Alofts when in other cities. Oh, the rooms were modern, super clean, and I loved the lemon soap. The bathroom door was almost a barn door but European enough not to be tacky :) my one crit would be the lights were mostly on one switch. If the bathroom was on, the sleeping area was on. Mama Bear had a conference in town a few months back, so naturally the babies and I tagged along. I was somewhat surprised at some of the conditions initially. If you want to play the "swanky" card, you better be up to snuff on your cleanliness and pay attention to all of the details. What caught me was missing screws in outlet covers. Given the ultra trendy appearance, I was a little hesitant to be bringing the kids in and out. Staff was excellent and super friendly with the kids. They were genuinely curious about what our plans were for the day and asked our 5yo a bunch of questions when we returned from our adventures. Horrible check in process experience! Check in begins at 3pm we arrived at 4pm and had to wait over 20min just to get to the counter. Once there we were told that we couldn't check in yet because there are no clean rooms! What the hell? Now we're waiting in the lobby until a room is available. They offered to check our luggage in and hold it for us but with such a disappointing introduction I certainly wasn't going to trust our luggage with them. We had planned on getting ready for the evening when we got here and now who knows how long we'll have to wait to begin our night out in Milwaukee. Plus, this is what has been sitting in the lobby for who knows how long? Update... 5:48pm we finally have gotten into our room. Desk clerk said because we booked through a third party there is nothing they could do to discount the room for us. Ridiculous! I am frankly nonplussed to have been naively seduced by the Aloft marketing thrust; I expected something fresh and hip and am humbled and forlorn to find myself in a relatively run down place only slightly tarted up with pop-modern sensibility, when your parents' much derided favorite Hampton Inn is in fact easily nicer, and comes with those coveted loyalty points. It blows my mind that I recently stayed at a truly gorgeous hotel recently for the same rate as I invested here. read more
