Kyoto Style Cold Brew. That's all needs to be said. My first introduction to Aloha Bakehouse & Cafe was at the Made in Hawaii Festival where I sampled its amazing tasting coffee. Found out that there are three locations in Kaka'ako, Downtown, and this one in Kaimuki. It's located at the corner of Waialae and 8th Avenue, across from The Curb and Kaimuki Auto Repair. Only metered parking along Waialae or street parking on the perpendicular streets. Inside was spacious and had an industrial feel with its concrete floor, metal chairs, metal racks, and with actual renovations in process in the rear of the space. Menu is floor level (sorry tall people!). There's a variety of coffee, tea, lemonade, blended drinks, smoothies, sandwiches, salads, its special Aloha Bread, and etc. There's a lot to read! There are multiple choices of bread for sandwiches (special bread shown next to the register. Be sure to check!). Needless to say, I took a long time to decide! The Breakfast Sandwich came with egg, bacon, ham, and American cheese. Chose the croissant, which was the smaller size variety. This was good with a generous amount of egg and bacon. It was a hearty sandwich. The Tuna Sandwich on Everything Bagel was good. Nice crisp on the bagel. A decent simple sandwich with fresh ingredients. I would have preferred more mayo and the canned tuna to have flavor. Regular brewed coffee was very good. Brewed very well with solid coffee flavor. Exactly the flavor I remembered when I first tried it. The star was the Kyoto Style Cold Brew. It was smooth, clean, bright, and strong. The flavor maintained throughout--even with the ice cubes melted in. Overall, a decent experience. The sandwiches were good. Coffee was excellent. Friendly service. Can't wait to come back to try more things and get more Kyoto style cold brew! read more

Great little coffee shop with original location in Kaka'ako. Now there is a second and a third location for Aloha Bakehouse! Originally was in the area to pickup matcha at the Curb across the street. Got distracted when we saw the familiar named place. Had to go in to check the business out. Was thrilled to see same great bites. Do love their aloha (stuffed) breads. This day wanted try something different. picked up a rice nori spam, eggs and konbu rice ball. Loved that it was less rice and more filling! Parking still difficult. With limited street/metered parking. The friendly service and comfortable space will bring me back. read more

I've been here a few times in the 1+ years that they have been open. Pastries are excellent. I am a sucker for a good scone and their Strawberry White Chocolate Scone was excellent. Coffee is also excellent. This morning, I had a Kyoto style cold brew. Not too strong as cold brews can sometimes be. Half a dozen tables allow for dining in. We came here around 8:30 am to order some to-go drinks and sandwiches today (Sunday). We were able to find street parking. The store is cute with large menu. They also sell other locally made souvenirs and Japanese snacks here. Three employees were working when we came in. Very clean store and friendly employees :). We ordered large cappuccino ($7), croissant sandwich ($9.50), açaí bowl ($15), aloha bread meat lovers and jalapeño ($10/each), and azuki matcha latte ($8.50). Everything was good. The açaí texture was delicious with the good amount of honey they put in. The azuki latte was refreshing and just at the right amount of sweetness. Cute spot in Kaimuki! Located across from the Curb. Tried their scone today and Kyoto Cold Brew. The scone was pretty standard, but I prefer Sconees. Kyoto Cold Brew was strong and kept me awake. Service was quick and the big plus is the strong free wifi and indoor seating, as well as opening until 4:00 PM, unlike their other cafe counterparts. They also have a wide selection of items on their menu - from acai bowls, musubi, sandwiches, bagels, etc. The Matcha Azuki drink looked VERY enticing. Will be back! read more

Aloha Bakehouse and Cafe is another wonderful addition to the Kaimuki small businesses community! Right off of Waialae, Aloha Bakehouse is like a coffee shop, bakery and bodega hybrid. On top of their offerings, they also sell some local goods from local artisans. Special coffee offerings include Kyoto style cold brew, Aloha Iced Coffee (their version of a vietnamese iced coffee) and bulletproof coffee. When I came in, there was a black sesame latte on special. Their scones are really popular, with different flavors like chocolate macadamia nut, matcha, and apple cinnamon. They're also known for their "Aloha breads" which is like a panini stuffed bread with goodies like pepperoni, sun dried tomatoes and spinach, and even a vegan option! You can even get pre-made items like musubis and noodles. I got their salmon lox bagel, aloha iced coffee, and latte Aloha. What makes this a 5-star spot is the people there. On my way to a Sunday morning wedding in Kahala, I stopped by Aloha Bakehouse & Cafe on the corner of 8th Avenue and Waialae Avenue... because metered street parking was free... and I didn't want to faint at the wedding! Service was efficient and polite! I asked if my Aloha Latte could be made with Oat Milk... Sure! Yay! It was so smooth that I didn't need any sugar! The subtle nutty macadamia flavor was delicious! I also got a chocolate chip macadamia nut scone - yummy! There was a light sprinkling of sugar on the top, which added a nice crunch! The cozy interior of the cafe was clean and bright. Because this location of Aloha Bakehouse & Cafe (there are also locations in downtown and Kaka'ako) is a corner unit, the natural light shines in from two gigantic windows! There are about six small tables with chairs for everyone to study and/or do work. In the middle of the space, customers can browse through locally made/sourced merchandise such as keychains, coin purses, flavored olive oil, and peanut butter. Found this quaint shop on Waialae. I had the bagel with the honey macadamia nut peanut butter and raw local honey. It was so delicious that I ordered another one. There are local products that are perfect for gift giving, and you can purchase their log bags to give as gifts. The raw local honey is delicious. Local honey is preferred over honey from other areas. Healthier and supports local businesses. The peanut butter was so delicious as well. Minimal ingredients and locally made. There are fresh sandwiches and pizza in the refrigerator. There are also fresh musubi on the counter. The food prep area is clean. Parking on the street. Free WiFi so students were busy doing papers while enjoying food freshly prepared by this establishment. The staff were very nice and helpful. I love Aloha Bakehouse & Cafe's ward location so I was stoked that they opened a new shop in kaimuki too. They're right across from The Curb on the opposite corner, and they serve the same things they have at their original location. I always get their scones because they're a very nice petite size and aren't super dry like other places. They sell a lot of grab & go merchandise and a variety of breakfast/lunch/coffee items. There's a handful of seats near the window, but I found that it gets really hot at some times because of the direct sunlight through the windows. read more

Cute coffee spot in Kaimuki. The owners Doug and his wife are super nice & friendly. We had a guest from Florida visit and decided to let him experience a place with a local laid back feel to it rather than the typical noisy, bustling tourist spots around Waikiki. This was absolutely the vibe we were looking for! I had the Matcha Latte with Azuki, which was excellent. Two thumbs up for the Mango/Pineapple Smoothie, and two flavors of scones. Love this new bright spot right on Waialae giving me a great early option to grab some drinks and bites is amazing! Opened less than a week Aloha Bakehouse & Cafe offers so much more than their usual fun and yummy bites but supporting some local merchandise is always a great collaboration to share and discover I can't tell you how excited I am with this location though the parking is something I'm gonna struggle with especially in the early morning. The service here is just so friendly and helpful with any questions though after some search in each display cases with a bunch of grab and go drinks and sandwiches it was easy...too easy to find. A cute sandwich variety (tuna, ham and cheese, egg), half a breakfast burrito (which they can warm up for you) and a smoothie I was set for the morning just like that. It's another Sunday morning where hubby and I decided to get a light breakfast before we get started on our chores (or play Pokémon Go). So we Yelp and this place pops up on the map and we decide to give it a try. It is in the old part of Kaimuki Town and has a comfortable no-frills, quaint atmosphere. If you live in the neighborhood, I would suggest that you consider getting your steps in for the day because parking is limited to the street. We were lucky to find a stall after driving around the block. There's one hour metered parking, free on Sunday and holidays. Table seating is available but very limited. Hubby said he enjoyed his Kyoto Cold Brew, Strawberry Cream Cheese Scone and Breakfast Bagel Sandwich. The bagel was warm but not over toasted. He said other places toast it a little too much for his old teeth to bite in easily. So he really enjoyed is sandwich. I decided on the lox and cream cheese sandwich. They offered a choice of bagel, white bread, or 12 grain. I'm glad that I chose the 12 grain bread lightly toasted. I was able experience all of the typical lox and bagel flavors without so much bagel. My hubby said, "you can taste the healthy". I also enjoyed my blended green tea matcha. According to the cashier, Michiko, they've been open only for two weeks. Very friendly. It appeared neighbors are curious with a number walking in and making conversation. They make their own dressings and peanut butter that are bottled and available for sale alongside other local products. They also have a refrigerated area with grab and go items and a variety of bottled water, soft and energy drinks. All in all, a nice way to greet our Sunday and support a new local business. My husband and I came to hawaii for a few days and on the first full day, he was tasked with finding me a coffee shop before we headed over to see family. He found Aloha Bakehouse & Cafe. We ordered the Matcha Azuki Latte and Aloha Iced Coffee. OMG, they were both SO good. I was really intrigued by the matcha + azuki latte since that seemed so different to me, but it was super good. This small business cafe was so good that I said we needed to go back, just so I could try a coffee drink. The second visit we ordered the Iced Vanilla Macadamia Latte and Yuzu Lemonade. Both of these drinks were also so good! In addition to ordering our two drinks in our second visit, we also tried the Aloha Bread with Pepperoni and Olives. The bread was really soft and you get a good amount of cheese and toppings inside the bread with every bite. With our trip coming to an end, I told my husband that we HAD to go back so I could get one more Matcha Azuki Latte before we hopped back on a plane to go home. I'm so happy that we did. On our third visit, we once again both got the Matcha Azuki Latte and Aloha Iced Coffee. Aloha Iced Coffee had the right amount of sweetness to creamy to caffeine. Matcha Azuki Latte was sweet with delicious azuki and was milky. The Vanilla Macadamia Latte wasn't too nutty and had a hint of sweetness from the vanilla. I love that all flavors were well balanced and that one flavor didn't overpower another in each drink. Yuzu Lemonade was pretty sweet which we loved - it wasn't too sour. Parking can be a little tough depending on the time of day, but there was street parking not far away from the business all three times we came. Service is friendly here and drinks are made to order. You can dine in at the tables + chairs inside or take your items to go. So good that we came 3 out of 4 days of our trip, and I already know that I'll be back next time we come to Hawaii. read more

There's a few tables, maybe 6 where you can sit and have a bite to eat or drink while you can chat or work on your computer. Free WiFi! It's pretty cozy. They have sandwiches, soup, salads and Aloha bread which are stuffed bread filled with things like pepperoni, turkey, spinach, cheese and mushrooms. There's all kinds of coffee drinks to enjoy-cold brews, lattes and a cold case that has sodas, water, juices. In the center are t-shirts, mugs, local made peanut butter and other cool things. The staff are super nice and friendly. We had for lunch the lox and cream cheese sandwich ($13.50) and the açaí bowl ($12) Loved the lox and cream cheese with lettuce, tomatoes, onions and capers on 12 grain bread. Recommend this! If you are in a diet this is a great place because the servings are sooo small. I had the lox on a bagel and for the price only had a bit of lox. To make up for that, maybe a pickle or some chips should come with it. My mom's chicken salad on a croissant was tiny as well. Maybe if we had ordered larger sized breads, the serving would have been more normal. My brother ordered a salad and his portion was worth the price and he said it tasted great. My gf got a breakfast bagel sandwich and a white chocolate raspberry blended drink. Food was all pretty good! The bagel was delicious and soft and the aloha bread was even better warmed. The Kyoto cold brew was pretty good, nice and smooth but I like a darker, fuller taste personally. Gf liked her raspberry drink, wasn't too sweet. There was only one person working though and she was pretty stressed out. Sorry girl didn't mean to rush you! With the other customers there ofc there was a wait, one person running the register, making drinks, toasting pastries, frying eggs and assembling sandwiches is going to take a while. Tried the black sesame latte and matcha adzuki latte with alternative milks. Matcha latte was good not ~too sweet~. Black sesame latte was missing hmm the black sesame (see photo- yes the iced latte on the left was supposed to be a black sesame latte) ? At least the coffee (?) tasted good‍ True to its name, the shop offers a wide variety of sandwiches, salads, soups, and local omiyage. Aloha Bakehouse just opened in Kaimuki at the corner of Waialae and 8th Avenues, a few days ago. They have a full menu including appetizers, sandwiches, salads, pasta dishes, acai bowls, ice cream, prepared bentos and more. Metered street parking only on Waialae. It is across 8th Avenue from The Curb coffee shop in the Finance Factors building. There are non-metered street stalls on 8th Avenue as well. We were on our way to No Name BBQ Sandwich Shop in the same building. I was with Adelia, my insurance agent, client, and friend, and as we walked down Waialae we saw the new shop. They did a great job in opening up the space, with windows looking into the space on both sides of the shop. Before they opened, the space was a liquor and convenience store which was not as visually appealing. The space is now a lot more inviting. You order at a counter and they have breakfast bentos and other grab and go items on display, as well as baked goods behind glass that you can buy. My only gripe is that the wall menu behind the ordering counter has some fine print descriptions which are hard to read by seniors like me. Hopefully they will later provide folded paper menus so you can read descriptions and not hold up the ordering process while standing at the counter. I ordered a sandwich which had a few cured meats and cheese in a square focaccia type bun. It was delivered in a small paper bag and was almost too hot to handle. Adelia ordered a musubi filled with gobo, spam, egg, and other items. She also ordered a matcha blended drink and I ordered a peach iced tea. They have 3 or 4 two-top tables inside the space where you can eat, and there is a public parklet across 8th Avenue outside Breadshop. The food and drinks were excellent, the menu is varied, and the space is clean and inviting. Will return. read more

One of my go-to cafe spots in Kaimuki. They have a variety of coffee and drinks but my favorite is their Aloha Iced Coffee which is their Vietnamese iced coffee. I'm curious to try their matcha but I always end up getting their Aloha Iced Coffee lol. They also have sandwiches and other food items but I'm usually on the go and need something quick so I just grab their scones or massive musubis. I think it's called an onigirazu? Only downside is the parking situation but I usually find street parking pretty easily. read more

I was getting my car serviced nearby so walked over to check out this cute location and get some tea and something to snack on. They have an extensive selection of innovative teas. I had the Dragon Fruit Jasmine tea. Great taste! Piping hot! I also tried the blueberry scone. Very tasty, great texture and you know the blueberries are fresh because they are not smashed as they sometimes can be. Don't know how they do it! I'm very sensitive to too much sugar and these were just right. Street parking is available on 8th Ave. Perfect for "grab and go". Good selection of chilled drinks. Interesting variety of premade deli sandwiches. Better class of sandwich than 7 Eleven for sure. Free wifi and nice quiet tables if you want to catch up on your work, reading or chill while having your coffee/tea/breakfast pastry. Eclectic selection of "Made in Hawaii" items to purchase. Stopped to grab something to eat since I was in the neighborhood. I got an apple croissant and a sun dried tomato and spinach aloha bake. Everything was so delicious! The apple croissant was like an apple pie filling but not as heavy. Sweetness was just right and they even had slight glaze on outside. The aloha bake I had warmed up and the best way I could describe it was like eating a pizza. The outer bread had a slight sweetness to it and it was so soft too. I could taste the wonderful sun dried tomatoes and it had just the right amount of cheesiness. Staff was welcoming, friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back again! read more
