We wanted something quick to eat after visiting Diamondhead and found this down the way, right across from Diamondhead Grill and Market. It's a small place and there are actually a couple of parking spots in the back. The menu is pretty straightforward and small. I got the green juice and when I asked if the shrimp or chicken was better, the woman said she likes the shrimp, but I was able to get half and half, so got to try both! The food came out pretty quickly and some cute tables inside and even a small patio outside. At that time, there were no malasadas, so I think you need to get there early to have a chance at those. The shrimp were so good and the chicken was so tender - so happy I got to try both. Will definitely be back in the future! read more

I went to their malasada pop-up at the Kakaako Farmers Market. They make each malasada to order, so it's crunchy on the outside and mochi-like texture on the inside. You should definitely try it -- you don't want to miss this! It goes perfectly with coffee or hot tea. Enjoy! read more

Noise level wasn't too bad as I was able to do some work but they were playing interesting western music which was kinda different for the atmosphere, felt like I was at a country bar. I was pleased that they had a small parking area behind the building. The cafe is cute, with tables inside and out. There is a window outside to order masaladas or smoothies. Inside, they offer breakfast and lunch options and all coffees. I ordered the special Monsarrat Breakfast, which has to be the best deal on the island. The breakfast is only $6.80 (9/24) with additional purchase of a drink. The Monsarrat comes with 2 eggs, 2 thick-cut slices of bacon, 2 slices of toast, side salad, and 2 slices of fresh pineapple! The sunny side eggs were cooked perfectly with runny yokes. The salad and pineapple refreshing. The Mango Passion Smoothie was delicious, refreshing, tart and creamy. The smoothies was served with a big slice of pineapple. At $6 (9/24), the smoothies are a bargain Service is friendly. Clerk, Emiko, was happy to change my drink order after she'd already rung it up. Aloha Cafe Pineapple provides a warm and relaxing atmosphere that welcomes both locals and tourists. The staff are so friendly, and it's a really cute little cafe. I got the Monsarrat plate with toast, 2 slices of crispy bacon, 2 eggs, and side green salad with dressing. The dressing is good. I forgot to ask what it was. I guess I'll just have to make another visit to their cafe. I also ordered the chocolate banana French toast. This is fluffy, perfectly seasoned and really delicious! It was a perfect together since I had the salt from the crispy bacon then ended on a a sweet note. I tried their caramel latte. This, I'll still give the 5 stars but this drink didn't have the coffee taste and barely a caramel flavor. I'm not sure what it was but I didn't have the heart to have them redo it. Maybe I should have since it ended in the trash. *sadly* I'll still come back ;) I'm positive that the caramel latte was made incorrectly and unintentionally. read more

I had a great experience here at aloha cafe pineapple. I ordered the french toast and I liked it but it was slightly undercooked and a tiny bit gooey on the inside but I understand many people like it that way! Either way I still finished my food. Their smoothies are very good and refreshing you can make no mistake when choosing a flavor because they will all be good. I wouldn't say this is a must have place but it's a good option if you don't want to eat directly on the waikiki strip. If you are driving make note that parking is very small and limited. Behind the restaurant there is only three spots and it can get tight so I would recommend finding some street parking. read more

Aloha Cafe Pineapple is located on Monsarrat Ave (next to Coffee Bean). They have a small parking area in the back with one handicap and two regular stalls. They offer dine-in and take out. I tried looking up their menu online so I could call it in and not have to wait. Found a menu on their IG stories. Items were super hard to read (small font). Suggestion: Post the menu in sections so text is legible. :) I then tried looking up menu on Yelp but got confused because they have daily or weekly special items. So I ended up calling them and had to get the menu read over the phone. Lesson learned: They have a set menu (see attached photos) and a daily special. You will need to call them to get the daily special (and find out if it is sold out). It would be useful if they posted their specials on their IG (which seems semi active). I got the Grilled Chicken Plate. Chicken was nicely grilled and cooked perfectly. Salad was nice and I really enjoyed the mac salad. The mac salad was light on mayo, which I liked. Alas and Alack, the rice was mushy and overcooked, which is always a shock in Hawaii. I mean, rice is life here! I also tried their Malasada cos I was curious. The malasada are made in advance (today was 8 am), so not fresh made. Not bad for pre-cooked go to Leonard's or Pipeline for piping hot ones. Strawberry Peach Soda was lovely. If you take the public bus to the Diamond Head Summit Trail early in the morning (as Jamie W. and I heartily suggest you do), you'll probably be motivated to walk all the way back to Waikiki on Monsarrat Avenue. It's not a bad walk at all, but we were getting hungry well before we saw any sign of the Pacific. This bright cafe was the first tangible sign of edible nirvana. Reviews were quite positive, so we decided to have our brunch here. Unlike the eateries closer to the beach, it wasn't crowded at all. We immediately saw they make their own malasadas, so we ordered two for $1.50 each (photo: https://bit.ly/3SPdq1Y). Covered in sugar, they were soft and warm and gone too soon. Perfect start as we segued to our respective Hawaiian lunch plates. They had more standard rice plates with chicken and shrimp, but Jamie ordered the $16 Shrimp Omurice. It was a soft omelette rolled with butter rice, topped with eight garlic shrimp, and ladled with Alfredo sauce. After all, it wouldn't be Hawaiian unless it had cream, butter, and macaroni salad (photo: https://bit.ly/3F0YMyW). I went with the other special, the $14 Chicken Omurice. It consisted of pieces of braised chicken thigh over the same soft omelette and butter rice. I searched my Yelp app for a lunch place close to my cousin's house in Palolo and found Aloha Cafe Pineapple which opened about 7 months ago. I read reviews by my friends, Irene, Fran, Lori, Tracy, Amy, and Lily. It sounded like a pretty good place, so, I brought my cousin here. I couldn't find anything really wrong with Aloha Cafe Pineapple. It has four free parking stalls behind the building and a convenient restroom. The interior was cute and the service was polite. Maybe my cousin wasn't thrilled because it was kind of cafeteria style: self-service stations for water, condiments, and utensils. We bused our own table. We ordered at the cash register and took a seat. I picked up our food when the cashier called out our order. The doors stayed open for the fresh air to flow through. It wasn't really air conditioned. We sat at a table with shade. My cousin and I both got the Garlic Shrimp Plate. I peeled the shells of the eight shrimps with gloves on my hands. My cousin ate the shells! We both thought that the macaroni salad was on the bland side while the green salad was delicious! I would return if I was in the area again. I would try the Green smoothie and the Acai Bowl. Hobbled in here after completing the Diamond Head Hike and saw the great reviews. They had these tropical sodas that were too hard to resist. We ordered the Pineapple passionfruit soda and Strawberry Peach soda. They need to be mixed, but very refreshing and acutely flavorful. For more snacking: Açaí bowl: Granola, kiwi, a quartered strawberry and pineapple cuts Like ice cream, smooth and melon-like notes, light to the palate and not too sweet. Yummy and healthy is a hard to beat combo. Grilled chicken lunch: Tender with lots of flavor and partnered with the classic rice pairing. Comes with just-right macaroni salad (not too much mayo). We wanted Malasadas as well but they only make them at predetermined times - 8am, 10am then 12 noon. We would have had to wait an hour, so I skipped it, unfortunately. Finding this little cafe called da - "Aloha Cafe" was a pleasant surprise for me!!! After going to the KCC Farmer's Market with my friend - Jennifer C., I decided to forage up some breakfast grindages. My original plans were to go to Bogart's Cafe, but as I drove along Monsarrat Avenue, my eyes caught a quick glance of a cute little cafe just next door from the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf coffee shop. The little café was so cute that for sure I had to stop by to see what this place was all about. Upon parking in the Kapahulu neighborhood (about a block away), I walked on over to the the Aloha Cafe. The food menu is posted outside entrance of the business, as well as inside of the restaurant. After looking over the menu, I was sold on their "Classic French Toast" breakfast, and my friend ended up ordering the "Monsarrat Special" just $3.80 when you purchase a drink with your meal. Can we say - DEALAGES YO! With both of our breakfast, we both got a cup of coffee. What can I say about our breakfast grindages??? The food portions here are not heavy, so if you're a super BIG EATER, you maybe disappointed. In true fashion, the food portions are probably appropriate for the average person to avoid overeating, & obesity. I totally enjoyed my Classic French Toast breakfast, the French toast was soft, fluffy, and done perfectly. Although they provided some syrup for the French toast, it was necessary as the whipped cream & powder sugar on the French toast was more than adequate to provide a slight sweetness to this dish. The few pieces of fruit on the side was a nice item to have to complement the Classic French Toast dish. As for the "Monsarrat Special", how can you complain about a $3.80 meal? Honestly, you can't! It wasn't a super large portion of food, as you got one Sunnyside egg, one piece of toast, one strip of bacon, & some green salad to boot! My friend enjoyed her meal, but I made sure I shared some of my Classic French Toast with her, as it was quite fabulous! Now if you aren't into breakfast, this place also does lunch. Please note, this restaurant closes early, so NO DINNER is served here. Looking at the small lunch menu, I saw a list of lunch items like - 1. Grilled Chicken plate ($13.00) 2. Mochiko Chicken plate ($14.00) 3. Garlic Shrimp plate ($15.00) 4. Chicken & Shrimp plate ($15.00) 5. I enjoyed my time at Aloha café, and would gladly come back again one day for lunch. While I was dining here, I did find out that this little café actually had free parking, as there are (3) small parking stalls in the back of the café. To enter the parking lot, you to enter parking off of Monsarrat Ave. . Don't go too fast, otherwise you can easily miss the parking sign for this café. As for me, I'd rather park within the Kapahulu neighborhood, as I find it easier for me to come & go. Spontaneous lunch option based purely on convenience. Heading up Monsarrat from Waikiki to Diamond Head, the cute pineapple "Aloha" signage caught my eye. After taking the kids to ride their scooters around KCC to burn toddler energy, we drove back for a quick and tasty bite. Street parking is tricky, especially during weekends. I purchased a cookie from Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf just so I could park in their lot. Garlic Shrimp plate includes six pieces with rice, greens, and Mac salad for $13. Garlic butter flavor was just right and married nicely with the wild rice and mixed greens. The mochiko chicken had a unique flavor in the breading, but was slightly undercooked in one of the pieces. I reckon their popularity stems mostly from their smoothies and coffee options. Most of their foot traffic were tourists walking the DH path and needed a quick dive from the afternoon heat. Better to park on the street. The workers there are very friendly. The menu is small, they have a breakfast selection (7:00am-11:00am) and a lunch selection (11:00am-3:00pm). My friend and I came between breakfast and lunch so that we can order a breakfast dish and a lunch dish. We came 15 minutes before lunch time, and the cashier is willing to put the lunch order in. We ordered the berry french toast and the mochiko chicken. While we waited for the mochiko chicken we started eating the french toast first. -Berry french toast $12 - the french toast was drizzled with berry syrups and fruits on top. There was a side of honey for extra syrup. It was good. Soft toast and not overly sweetened. Came out hot and fresh. - Mochiko chicken $12 - 2 scoops of rice with 6 pieces of chunky fried chicken. Sides were mac salad and tossed salad. Mac salad was lite, and not heavy tasting. The chicken meat was very juicy and tender. I believe they marinated with ginger because we can definitely taste it. The fried batter was very different from the mochiko chicken I usually eat. The dough reminds me of an andagi, it's powdery and thick. Tasted a little burnt. Very interesting. It definitely attracts tourists in the area. Seating is spaced out. A bit hot in there. Overall, everything was great here. The plate lunch pricing is pretty decent. I can see ppl trying to study here, or get some work done while on vacay FOOD I think the breakfast foods might be their specialty, we didn't have a chance to try that because we came around lunchtime. Mochiko chicken seemed like a safe bet to order, but their version is rolled big pieces of chicken with skin still attached. The ginger chicken is more like teriyaki chicken, not like cold ginger chicken. Taco rice was interesting with a few Doritos on the side. This dish was made popular overseas when there was a large military presence in Okinawa/Japan. I think this place is geared for tourists in the area around Diamond Head who need a cold (or hot) beverage and maybe a little breakfast. read more

Just a short walk off from the Diamond Head trail, my wife and I wanted something a bit far away from ABC land, but could still indulge us in our touristy way. Aloha is a smaller "mom and pop" type of cafe though with approachable to hungry travelers. If you're particularly hungry, the Mochiko chicken plays mind games with you as the exterior is just crispy enough to fill your fried chicken needs, but the meat inside practically melts as you eat. And I'm not just talking about melting breading. It did feel dense though, so make sure you've either had your morning Diamond Head run or have swam from California to get to the cafe before ordering. As per typical fashion, the plain pineapple and pineapple guava juices were a nice refreshing cut against our heavy meal. Not too heavy on the ice by default. At ~$4 a cup it may make or break it for you depending on your reference, but for us it was worth it after a long day of hiking and running around. read more

I got the taco rice ($14) served over rice and lettuce with some Doritos on the side for some added crunch. The egg was over cooked but they also didn't ask how I'd like it done either I also tried the strawberry soda ($5) refreshing on a very hot summer day but it also wasn't filled to the top either. They have indoor and patio seating available. We opted for outside since I had my dog with me. Other menu items weren't super appealing so maybe this place will be good for drinks. read more
