Fantastic. Ordered the monkey bowl and enjoyed it very much. Kind of spendy but nice and easy. Today is a good day!

Got the smoothie and açaí. Both were pretty bland and the açaí was icy / gritty like it had frost bite. I've had way better quality at other places. I did like the honey and coconut dust topping.

My dad ordered the Paradise Punch smoothie and I liked it so much that I had to buy my own! That drink has bee pollen in it which I've never seen. It has such a fresh and tropical flavor which I loved. There's limited indoor and outdoor seating but the vibe is very friendly.

    Way too much granola

The bowls are granola heavy, emphasis on HEAVY. Came here in a group and we ordered tropical bowls. Not extremely great because it was too much granola. Should have been balanced with more of the base and fruits. Not a fan and won't be back. When I let the ladies know that myself and my group found that it was loaded with too much granola, they didn't provide a resolution and that was disappointing but affirming to know that I won't return.

Service was quick, menu was easy to read, overall ease of getting there and getting out was good. Mostly street parking though. The ambience of the area was very surfers/California/tropical/happy. I am giving it three stars because the açaí bowl's actual flavor was lacking for me. Seems like the bowls are a big part of the menu, and they should just be a little bit more high-quality in my opinion. However, I would give their savory food a four star rating as the sandwiches were good. Smoothies also seemed to be quite good as well.

This spot is a little pricey, but it's really cute and close to Waikiki. The smoothie bowls and smoothies are great and their coffees are kinda mid. The folks working there are really nice and the service was pretty fast! It can get busy since it's next to Leonards. Next time, I'd skip the coffee and stick with the smoothies and bowls :) everything is made fresh and tastes healthy. The place is also very instragramable and aesthetic if that matters to you.

Great acai bowls. In a nice small area. Their service is very friendly and the food is so fresh! Parking is tight so you may want to park at the shopping center/ grocery store area and walk to it. It's only a 2 minute walk.

Açaí bowls after hiking was a MUST for my friends and I. We tried Sunrise Shack -- per our friends and families recommendations. We ordered the Tropical Bowl and our friends ordered the Blue Dream Bowl. This was so refreshing and felt so healthy :-) Mahalo Sunrise Shack!

My fiancé and I made a quick stop after a dip in the ocean. We were greeted by a friendly staff. The vibe of the establishment just feels positive and welcoming We ordered the monkey bowl, berry toast, and iced cappuccino. It felt good to nourish our bodies with fresh whole foods. The blueberries on the berry toast were my favorite! They were big and the texture..it felt like biting into a grape. They also offer parking behind the back of the building, which is always nice. They are a little bit pricey. It's not a place I would visit on the daily, but definitely on days when I want to treat myself!

Stopped by since friends were craving Leonards and I wanted something a little lighter. The staff + owner are super friendly here! I ordered the paradise punch, and added banana to be blended and they accommodated my request. They also offer samples. Such a beautiful smoothie! It is on the pricier side for what it is though.

I absolutely loved this place. The staff was extremely nice, gave good recommendations and the service was fast. The place is a bright yellow you can not miss it. It definitely fits the Hawaii vibe. If your looking for a quick but filling breakfast this is the place to stop. The toast was amazing.

Refreshments in Kapahulu, Honolulu, Hawaii... We saw this new location of The Sunrise Shack and decided to check it out! We have been to the Ala Moana Center's location in the Makai Food Court. I think I like that location better than this Kapahulu location because of the air-conditioning and easier parking. The Sunrise Shack on Kapahulu Avenue has a small parking lot along the sidewalk of Kaimuki Avenue. Look carefully for the designated signs, park, and walk around the corner to the entrance. It's the former location of Kono's. Inside, the cozy shop had a small, portable air conditioner. I couldn't feel any cool air, so I had to consume my bowl outside, along the sidewalk. We sat on chairs and watched the traffic go by. The exhaust fumes and dust were our ambiance. Service was friendly and efficient! The diligent cashier even went outside to sweep up leaves at the entrance. She's so good! I got the Tropical Bowl which had a mango and banana base. The toppings were little chunks of pineapple, coconut flakes, pitaya sauce, and crunchy granola. Yum! I'll go back to the Ala Moana Center location... even though Leonard's Malasadas is right next door... very tempting and convenient!

Indeed it is a good day!

Start your day with a Sunrise... Congratulations on the newest location in Kapahulu a busy spot as it's the many source to enter/ext the freeway but as it sits right across Crane Park down the street from Kapahulu Shopping Center and right next door to Leonard's they do have parking right behind the building so grabbing that cool treat is so easy. Just look for the vibrant yellow building and step in to the coolest place in Kapahulu though the air in the shop isn't quite there it was quite hot in there though they do have some counter seating with the suggestion of the staff we sat outside as the cool island breeze was much nicer to enjoy. It was the "I Lava You" smoothie the bananas, strawberries and coconut cream is too hard to resist and you know they know what they're doing it wasn't very sweet at all the cacao nibs added some bitterness to it with a slight crunch but could've done without it. The staff there are just a delight and I really love what they're did with it the decor all the same like the other locations which gives you the feel as if you're at a shack outside with the painted clouds on the ceiling which is so fun and sweet just like their treats. Thank you!

Super late review -…read more I'm sad. I really wanted to love this place but I just couldn't. I don't want to be that person when this place has an overall rating of 4.5 but this is just my honest opinion. I got the blue dream and yes it was very ascetically pleasing, but it was just too icy. Before coming to this place i read a couple of reviews that also said the same thing and i didn't understand what that meant, but now I do. There are a lot of flavorless, just regular, small shards of ice in the bowl. On top of that, the moment I received my bowl, it was already borderline melted. So that got me thinking, how can it be melted and icy at the same time? The only explanation that I can think of is just ice additive/fillers. It's not pure cold acai or whatever is in the bowl you choose, but there's a mixture of ice in it too. Yes I understand, it's Waikiki, everything is more expensive, but the added topping prices on top of the already expensive bowl prices just don't make sense. You want a beautiful looking bowl with a lot of different toppings, yet some toppings can go up to 1 dollar PER topping. I don't know if I've just been spoiled by a couple places in SoCal, but at those places they have unlimited toppings and those bowls are the best that there is. I'm not bringing any bias from other locations, but this is just an honest review based on my experience today.

I was so disappointed they no longer offer the lilikoi matcha- I know that flavor combination would've been amazing! Hopefully they bring it back someday. The matcha itself was on the lighter side compared to richer ceremonial matchas, but it was still smooth, well-balanced, and not at all astringent. It paired really well with the oat milk, and both drinks were enjoyable. There was a line out the door during breakfast/brunch hours, which shows just how popular this place is. Despite the crowd, the service was friendly and efficient, and we were able to grab a small table to dine in. It's located on the upper level of the Royal Hawaiian Center, making it a convenient stop while shopping in Waikiki. I'd definitely come back to try more of the menu (hoping the lilikoi matcha will make a comeback too)!
