We wanted to expand our driveway and decided now was a good time to do so since we would be home due to Covid. I called the contractor we usually work with, but he was 2 months out. He also didn't seem too excited about doing the work. I called around a couple of other places, but either they were too busy or out of business since they weren't picking up phone calls or returning them. I got kind of discouraged, but I came across Aloha Concrete here on Yelp. I read the various reviews and looked at the various pictures and decided to give them a call. Wesley's communication is excellent. We setup a time for him to come by and give me an estimate. The price I got for the work involved was fair and we decided to move forward. He said we could begin the project within a week or so. At this point I submitted the landscape plan to the city for approval. The city took about a week to...deny our project. At first I thought we were done for and had to call Wesley to tell him we couldn't move forward. I got clarification from the city that I couldn't expand across the walkway in front of our door as originally planned, but could expand the other way towards the right of our house. This wasn't in the original plans, so I called up Wesley again for him to come down and give an estimate with what the city required. I knew that it would cost more since it was basically double the amount of work. The first estimate was certainly fair and the updated one was just as good. First day of the job was demolition His crew took down our old existing brick that was prone to damaging our wheels and doors and took out a good section of our front lawn that was also held up by brick. The demo alone made our driveway feel less claustrophobic. Over the next couple of days, Wesley's cousin laid out the bricks that were needed to hold up our front lawn and the neighbor's side of the grass up. I don't know if I'm easily impressed or not, but he's a master at what he does. The bricks look amazing. The final day of pouring concrete came and this is where I got really anxious. Not because I didn't trust Wesley's team, but because when I walk around the neighborhood, I see kids messing with concrete here and there and the damage is permanent. Kids names with a year and hand prints don't age well on concrete. Luckily the concrete was poured and dried overnight with no issues. The cement mason shaped things out very well with seams that match our existing driveway. I think I gave him a bit of a hard time as he was shaping our new steps, but his work came out great. During the whole process, Wesley and team kept our driveway and walkway clean and made sure everything was looking good to my satisfaction. Everything is done now and all we have to do is plant some new shrubs for our new planter areas (required by the city and the wife) and get final approval from our city. After I came back from walking my dog this morning, I got a couple of comments on how nice the work looks. I actually see quite a few people walking by on our security camera and admiring the expanded driveway. My wife and I are absolutely happy with the work done. Wesley is honest, fair, and the work speaks for itself. I would absolutely recommend Aloha Concrete to anyone doing any work related to concrete or landscaping. I hired their team for landscape and concrete work - replace a broken below-ground drain pipe, modify a two-tier front lawn and extend the driveway. Once the broken drain pipe was dug out at the property line, I decided to install a vinyl panel fence there. Per my last minute request, they procured the fencing materials that morning and quickly put up the fence and then installed the new drain pipe. I needed an underground drain pipe replaced (existing one was broken and wouldn't drain anything). After the backyard was taken care of by Aloha Concrete + Wesley a few years ago, we always knew we'd need to do our frontyard. We still get compliments on our backyard, and it still looks amazing. Of course we would trust Wesley again with something as important as the front of our home: this huge project entailed demolishing all of the old concrete -- the long driveway and walkways and of course, pouring in new concrete to match the backyard. Wesley and his team were available on quick notice, and the team came ready to work early in the morning. My neighbors across the street stopped by to express their disbelief: they couldn't believe how quickly Wesley and his team got everything done -- demolishing and pick up of old concrete in one day, setting up all the parameters for a couple of days, and one day for pouring all the new concrete. Within a week, our front yard was all done. Now we are just working on adding drought tolerant plants, etc., but for now, even though we still just have dirt all over the place, neighbors we have never met before have commented on how amazing a job the workers executed with the concrete.
