These breeds can get matted easy and I appreciate they always call me if they find he's just too matted to keep long. That is always on us and even with brushing it can be difficult to prevent some of the matting. Appreciate that they take the time to educate me on how to be better at brushing so I can try and prevent those pesky trouble spots. My first impression was WOW! I walked in & the front room had cats, dogs, bunnies, birds, a rooster, and guinea pigs or hamsters just chilling peacefully together. It is and was a soothing feeling. My 2 dachshund/lab mixes hadn't been bathed since December. Petco used to be our bathing place of 10+ years. Petco has not returned numerous voice messages. The kind person who greeted me also had a calming effect. She wanted to know everything about our dogs. Unlike Petco, she just said OK after I disclosed age and that Tux had a seizure last year. I did not have to sign medical waivers that my dog is 8 years old. I didn't need to bring in rabies proof either (although we had it). I am used to having to pick up my dogs at a precise time @ Petco. Aloha Grooming is more relaxed about pick up time. The grooming of my short hair dogs: GREAT! teeth, anal glands, bath, sensitive shampoo, and nails groomed for $35 per dog (price based on size). Petco was $40 each. That includes all of the above in an extra add on package with a hit or miss dog bandana included. When we picked up C.C. (Bloom) & Tux (short for Tuxedo) they looked and smelled great. I was told that they had full anal glands. I don't know what that means. They accept cash or check as payment. I added a 20% tip. While I waited for my dogs briefly, a beautiful white cat meandered over to us. She or he was quite affectionate. My review is 5 stars. He always comes out squeaky clean, nicely trimmed, and without that greasy, chemical feeling that some other groomers leave with shampoo and product. Besides the fact that they always do a phenomenal job with grooms and haircut, this is also the most reasonably priced dog groomers I've come across in Ventura. It is also worth noting that Tina is a true animal lover, with many of her own pets and sometimes helps rescues find homes as well. Our beautiful (named Bella) had her second ever grooming. This second grooming was with Aloha groomers. Bella is a Border Collie and Australian Shepherd mix. She has a tail that is referred to as a "flag" as it is full and when she wags, it really does wave like a flag. The back of her legs have a curtain and all of this needs to be groomed. They can be gently trimmed and still maintain the Flag and Curtain features in this beautiful dog. That is what happened the first time she was groomed (NOT at Aloha). I am horrified to say that both her tail and back of legs were SHAVED at Aloha Dog grooming. They did ask if they could trim them. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE FOR GROOMING! On April 30th, 2022 approx 315pm, I witnessed a groomer pulling aggressively on the face fur of a Labradoodle several times. The dog was actually well behaved but this was too much to witness. I went in and had words with this woman who seemed to be a manager or owner and told her to stop pulling on this dog's face so aggressively, of course she told me to mind my own business and leave. I asked the girl behind the counter if she does the same thing and she nodded very sarcastically. Whoever had their dog in that this time, I tried to stop this from happening but she just continued. I got my dog, Buddy, about a year and a half ago. He and I bonded immediately at the Shelter. I still remember putting my hand out and him putting his fluffy little head right where I could give him a little head rub. I fell in love with him that day, and he kissed me the whole way home. A few weeks later, he and I are visiting family and something is off. He is snipping at all of the women in my house. My mom, sister, and grandma... anyone near me, and he starts to get funny. We go outside to play and the poor dude gets stung by a bee. Right on the paw. I run inside with him and we get the lidocaine. I'm holding him so grandma can put it on his paw, he wiggles free and I watch my favorite thing, (Buddy) bite my favorite person. (grandma) I say all of this because the problem didn't get better. He tries to attack dogs on our walk, any females at our home, and even my trainer. (He gave her three stitches.) Buddy is a Parson Russel Terrier/Poodle mix and SO cute, so everyone wants to pet him... I'm continuing to work with him and trainers, but about 6 months ago, he was kicked out of his groomers for biting another employee. (They have a no-muzzle rule.) I am SO thankful for aloha. You need to book far in advance, and for good reason. They're GREAT! They actually return phone calls, and you know how some places are great with dogs... but... well... don't have people skills? Yeah... that's not a problem here. If you want to take your dog somewhere cheap, this isn't your place. But if you want quality and a caring atmosphere and a bunch of smiles that belong in a Colgate toothpaste catalog, take your fur baby to Aloha. Took our pup here for his first groom, seemed fine, didn't notice a huge difference as it was just a puppy sanitary cut. 24 hours later he started whining at night so we booked a vet appointment and within 2 days he started howling in pain at any kind of movement of his head.At the vets, they said he had to be sedated in order to do an exam because his ear infection was so bad. Likely related to the grooming experience as the timing was within a day and they plucked all his hairs out. He needed meds for two weeks and got better quickly. We won't be going back. Very glad I brought my dogs to Aloha! One of them gets knots in her fur very easily because of its texture and just manages to get a bit dirty and haggard looking and when I went to pick her up she was soooo soft and fluffy! They were able to cut the matted fur from her ears and she looks so much nicer now. I also liked that they asked if either of them have sensitive skin (yes) and they were very accommodating. I have only brought my furry kids in for nail trims, so I don't know what other grooming stuff is like. But the staff are always super sweet and gentle with my dogs. Nail trims don't require an appointment, so we go in at random times and have always been quickly accommodated. Never have had to wait long (though I wouldn't complain if I did). While my pibble gets his manicure, I usually check out the menagerie of animals hanging out front-- depending on the day, I've seen baby emus, a blind cat, giant bunnies, and a scruffy parrot, to name a few. I just moved to the area and was looking for a new groomer. Aloha has the best reviews in the area and came recommended by all the other doodle owners, so it was the first place I tried. Unfortunately it was a poor experience. The place is a bit of a madhouse. They had kept my pup in a kennel for hours, shaved him too closely (so that he was scooting for weeks afterwards because he had razor burn), and ended up cutting/shaving off chunks of his fur instead of combing and dematting him. He did have a really well done cut and everyone seemed nice, but I can't take my dog to a place where he gets razor burn. They just didn't have the level of care and thoughtfulness I expected. I got the sense that they were really optimizing for volume of groomings per day rather than quality. I have a really gentle and obedient labradoodle so I want a groomer that won't be a traumatic experience for him. I ended up going to The Hair and the Hound next, and Donna is awesome there. She is considerate, asks a lot of questions to make sure she knows what you want, and was careful not to hurt him. He was super soft when he came out. Seriously, the softest he's ever been and he's already a soft floof! I highly recommend giving The Hair and the Hound a try if you're looking for a sweet and kind groomer for your doggo. read more

Caged my puppy for four hours and Lied to me! Her appointment was at 12:00. She wasn't/didn't even get a full groom; just feet, face, nails, and teeth. I called at 3:00 and she still wasn't ready. I went to the shop at 4:00, and she was barely on the grooming table. When I questioned the girls in the front they said, "she had several accidents." My dog is fully potty trained and uses her doggy door, so I asked them to clarify. They said she kept pooping and peeing on herself so they had to keep rewashing her. Again, that made no sense unless she was in a cage, so I asked why they kept her in a cage for FOUR hours. They got nervous and couldn't answer and instead went to the back and closed the door to get their lies straight. Then one came back to the front and gave me two wads of ear hair. I've had three other poodles and have never had a groomer give me their ear hair. I asked why she was giving it to me, and she said, "cuz we think it's cool and think you will too!" What?!?! I asked to speak to Tina, the owner & groomer, who said my PUPPY was unruly and defecated during her bath and again when they tried to dry her. If that's true, which I doubt because she's never pooped during home baths, she obviously needed to go outside and potty!!! Also, they are supposed to be professionals and know how to handle and calm a five month old poodle. Tina said because she was so unruly they had to keep giving her time outs in a cage and left her there to air dry! I didn't take my puppy to a groomer to be kenneled for FOUR hours. And had I not gone up there, it would've been five or six. I'm so disappointed thinking my sweet, house trained puppy sat wet and shivering in a cage in a strange place with cats and chickens running around for FOUR hours! That's insanely unprofessional and not what I take my dog to the groomer for. Parking is horrible. There's nowhere for the animals to go out to potty. And they lie when confronted. The last time that we took our dog to Aloha grooming the owner's spotted great Dane ran up and bit our dog for no reason! Before then, we had had a decent experience, except that every time I went in there to drop off or pick up, I saw a dog left unattended on a grooming table with a noose around it's neck and a stylist nowhere in sight! What?!?!! My friend who also used to bring her dog there says that every time she's ever gotten fleas has been right after she's been to this shop.
