Since my dog went to this place she is now terrified of dog groomers.. with no reason why .... They were not nice to my dog that's for sure

We're pretty new to Ventura, and I had no idea where to take my two rescue guys for grooming. They were very used to the groomer we went to for years back down south. A few neighbors gave Bark and Bathe major props, so I tried them out first for nail trims. I immediately loved that you can see everything going on - all the grooming and everything is done right out in the open - no squirreling the dogs to the back of the shop. The shop is clean, cute, and everyone is very dog and people-friendly. Misha is darling, and was so sweet to my guys. When I came back for grooming right before Thanksgiving, Misha did a fantastic job on both. I'm kinda picky about how I like them to look (one is a Bichon mix.) At our old place, I usually had to send one or both back because they'd forgotten to do the ears or tail, etc. Not Misha - she remembered it ALL. Misha was a wonderful groomer for my elderly dog. My dog had skin problems and sensitive feet, but Misha always managed to get him fully groomed, including his nails. She took the extra time to use the medicated shampoo he needed, even though it meant extra time to allow the shampoo to sit on him before rinsing. They definitely kept my dog looking and feeling good in his final years. read more

Not only was he fresh and clean afterwards, but I could tell that he felt safe and comfortable being there! YES! I FINALLY FOUND MY PEOPLE! This place is fabulous! Upon walking in to a busy day, I was immediately welcomed by the owner and staff and for the first time ever, I actually wanted to stay and hang out while my dogs got groomed. The staff was happy, the dogs were happy. Heck, I almost asked if they did people! I have tried multiple places since moving here just before Covid hit. I have a Pomeranian and a Samoyed so maybe a little bit more difficult than the average dog but Bark and Bathe did a fantastic job. I have been taking my pups here for 9 years. In that time, there have been changes/turnover in staff but the constant remains Paula the owner. She genuinely cares about and makes that extra effort to ensure each dog (and customer) is getting the best care. I have tried Petco, Petsmart and other groomers. Bark and Bathe, specifically Paula and her daughter are in a class of their own when it comes to grooming standards. In those 9 years I don't recall a single time the grooming was below excellent standards when done by Paula or her daughter. For those who may not be happy with her shaving their dog down, well I think consideration needs to be made on the upkeep of the dog before bringing them in the shop. I am not accusing people of mistreating their dogs, because I have even had epic knots in my dog's fur pointed out to me that I was not aware of. To me, if Paula or her staff shaved an animal without being requested to do so, it would be for good reason like the matting was too extreme. I have taken my geriatric dog here, my puppy here and I always felt confident that they would take care of dog's tailored needs with confidence and finesse from the professionals they are. I'm pretty picky and have high standards when it comes to my dogs. My comments are drawn from experiencing the results I've seen and the work that has been performed on my furry family for almost a decade. Paula and her staff do the best job with my German Shepherd, Zeke. He can get pretty anxious and hyper around new people and being as big as he is I've always been apprehensive to take him to a groomer but thank god for Bark and Bathe. They handle him so patiently and pay excellent attention to detail, even noticing and removing some stubborn glue that was stuck in his paw. I took my sweet 12 year old, poodle/Bichon to Bark and Bathe last Thursday for the first and last time. It has taken me this long to calm down and write a review. I specifically told them NOT to use a shaver on her because her skin is very sensitive and she ends up Having to go to the vet. I emphasized that her sanitary area should just be trimmed with scissors. When I picked her up they said she had an area that they lightly shaved because it was matted. I was very unhappy but I paid them and left. When I got her home and checked her over I was livid!! She has 4 open wounds around her delicate sanitary area caused by shaving!! My pup is now on antibiotics for infection. When I called them, Necia (?) denied using the shaver in more than one small area. I even sent her the photo! read more

Upon taking my dog in for grooming I was told by Paula that she was aware that bulldogs have sensitive skin, I have a three years young old English bulldog at the time of picking him up within the hour I was calling her about to notify her that he was swollen and allergic reaction she didn't notify me that she could shampoo that had the same reaction on another dog which at that point confused me encounter dick with everything she told me as I was walking out the door leaving him there. She didn't notify me that his reaction was already started before I take him and she was trying to justify it was a picture that she had taken that showed no evidence of getting reaction she offered to re-watch him for five days later at that point inspection had already said and go to body he was getting open wound but I was unable to treat 90s after the first visit from August 23 he had his first vet visit for being sick and he's now on antibiotics and steroids to help heal his skin infection.Very unhappy with the service is due to owners not willing to take blame situation read more

I don't do much reviewing but after experiencing the services provided at this gem of a dog salon I felt the need for a shout out! The staff was genuinely friendly, fun and professional, while providing the best dog grooming experience I've ever had!! My lab is 6 years old and I've tried a couple nearby salons as well as a few in Santa Barbara and this is the best by a mile! Sullivan's coat was beautifully clean and flea less, he smelled great and they even put a cute little scarf on him. Give them a try! read more

I've brought my French bulldog here twice now and had great service both times. He recently had skin issues this summer so they were so kind to use sensitive skin products on him. They're so thorough and informative and I feel confident my dog is in good hands. He's a little too spoiled, whoops, so he tends to be a little needy at the groomers but they still give him the best care and don't complain about him at all. Highly recommend! read more
