Plus I have two other puppies that went there for basic grooming because I didn't want to cut their hair until after their ugly puppy stage. After her first full week at Aloha Dog daycare, Kimiko seems to really like it. She is DEAD tired when we pick her up because it appears that she plays all day long with the other dogs. Love that she is enjoying her time here. A little torn because she doesn't play with us too much anymore because she sleeps but I guess you can't have it both ways. The staff seems to be really great and accommodating. They also seem to really care about the dogs that they care for during the day, from what I can see. I don't worry about Kimiko while I'm at work anymore because she is alone at home. I can relax and know that she is having a blast at Aloha Dog day care. read more

My dog is a rescued pup so a lot of socialization is needed for her to get more used to other dogs, people, and noises in public. Aloha dog was awesome enough to run a free month promo for adopted doggos. She is still shy and scared when she goes but I love the nice ladies who work there. I went to 3 different groomers and I have to say this one is my fave :) not only are they affordable (20% off your first visit!) but they are very friendly! I was recommended this place by fellow Pomeranian owners at the dog park so I definitely had to check it out. It's a bit hidden but easy to find. Parking is located right in front but there's also surrounding street parking. There's a huge glass window where you can peek in and see all the doggies in daycare! They are all so adorable and just makes your day. My groomer was Kat I believe and she made sure Luffy was in good care. She showed me a picture in a magazine to confirm the type of haircut I wanted. Great Results! Took my corgi, Cthulhu, here and he came out smelling and looking great! If you plan on basic grooming (which is the service I used today) I would suggest Aloha Dog. What is included was nail trim, ear cleaning, a wash and a lite trim around the paws, belly and ears. They were friendly, great with my dog and called when they were finished. Which was 13 minutes before the given time. Only bad thing was parking, but I'm normally lucky with parking so it wasn't a problem. I would defiantly come back. read more

Yelp 365 Challenge # 4/365 Uh ohh... I think I may have found THE place to take my dog for grooming!! I was actually recommended to check out Aloha Dog during a visit to Secured Gold Buyers. The girl who helped me had her little pup there and I casually asked where she took her dog for grooming, and she mentioned Aloha Dog. Before calling, I did some research on Yelp (naturally). Seeing all 5 star reviews, I had to check them out. I called 'em up and scheduled an appointment for the same day! I was kind of embarrassed because I could barely understand the girl on the other end of the phone due to her strong Japanese accent. We managed though. (Oh, how awkard!) My appointment was at 5:00 and they closed at 7:00. I mentioned that my little Yorkie was FILLED with matted hair (poor baby) and they assured me that they could complete the job in 2 hours. I still kind of doubted them because another salon I took my pup to took just about 3 hours.... They called me as promised at 6:50 and told me my pup was ready for pick up! I booked it down there and my little fur ball was extreeeemely happy! He was so clean and well groomed and super excited! I paid just about $53 for their service. SUPER happy about that. They didn't even charge me extra for all his matted hair! I'm definitely bringing him back here for grooming!! read more

Always had a pleasant grooming service here. We have a bichon and I think the owner has several bichon so I feel safe to bring my dog. I always ask for the Japanese groomer. After looking on craigslist a few times, my fiancee and I decided to take advantage of Aloha Dog's 15% off full grooming, which is a special they're running for this month. Even though we were a half hour early, they still took him in to start the grooming. The people were very friendly, just like the last time. There were several people there watching the dogs that were in the daycare. As I was filling out the paperwork, the groomer was combing through a magazine and found a picture that looked EXACTLY like our dog. She asked if we wanted his cut to be like the picture and we said that was what we wanted. I liked how the groomer took the time to find a picture to show us of what we could expect from her. Two hours later, we returned to find our dog happy and clean. I was surprised to see that the groomer had even taken the time to trim his eyelashes! Now they weren't drooping into his face anymore. They also remembered to trim the back of his tail like I asked him to. As Della L. mentioned, the groomer did seem surprised when I tipped her, so I think it's best to remember to tip the groomers since they're so nice and do a great job. I do plan on using their boarding service in the future, so I will probably write an update later when that happens. read more

Took my cavalier, Misa, in for her first grooming experience. Called in to see if they had any appointments available and they had a slot open one hour after calling!! The staff are super friendly & gave 20% off for first-timers. The interior had bright colors and all the dogs inside look really calm and happy! Misa was extremely matted and they cleaned her up well! Her coat was super SOFT and smelled like a fresh dog! I love what these ladies have done with my dog! I was afraid that Misa wouldn't enjoy the grooming, but I was entirely wrong. First time taking my Miniature Poodle and Sheltie to the groomers. The owner there made the process very painless and smooth. Got my appointment on the same day, and picked them up within two hours. My Poodle came out just right, all the bad areas was trimmed down for both functionality and aesthetic purposes. Unfortunately, I don't think they have much experience with Shelties. We decided to give Aloha Dog a try after seeing them on Craigslist with 2 westies. Yes, we have a westie too. Taking our Chester to Aloha Dog was the one of the happiest moments his life. He absolutely LOVES it there. He gets so excited and can barely contain himself in his carseat on the trip there. Upon arrival, he literally jumps out of the car and runs to the to their door trying to get inside. What's really great is that they post pics of the dogs in daycare everyday on Facebook so I can see how he's doing. :) Chester also gets groomed at Aloha Dog. They do a fantastic job. We have received so many positive comments on his haircut especially from other westie owners. Btw, Chester fidgets alot so grooming him is a real challenge and requires a lot of patience and kindness. So after having Mochi for one year, I decided that he needed a sister...well maybe I wanted another furbaby because they're just too cute. So my husband and I got Keiko a maltipoo. After receiving all her shots, we got her evaluated for day-care. That way she could spend more time with her older brother. Keiko is a bit on the shy side compared to her brother. After about the third time they reported to me that Keiko is out of the box and playing with everyone. Now Keiko thinks every dog is her friend. She just loves when she's greeted when we come in. Since Keiko is a maltipoo her grooming cost $10 more than Mochi. She pulls more toy poodle like her (real) dad. So she has curly hair. We give her the teddy bear face and cut short all around. With the hair cut short we make our appointments from 8 to 10 weeks instead. Brushing her everyday will keep mats away. They do such a good job on her cut, she looks so cute...a little poodle. With that teddy bear face she can do no wrong at home. Overall, happy we found Aloha Dog. read more

Grooming was excellent. I couldn't ask for anything better for my Yorkie. I used to live in Japan so I miss the days of grooming my yorkie there since they do such a good job and are extremely thorough. I'm so glad I found this place that offers Japanese style grooming because now I'm completely satisfied instead of missing how my yorkie used to be groomed. I will always take my yorkies here! I emailed, inquiring the price to groom two Yorkie dogs, informing them I would need to stay with them as they have separation anxiety. I was quoted a price as well as that cutomers are not allowed to stay/watch. Telling me to "feel free" to make an appointment. Either Natsuko doesn't grasp English language so well, doesn't care and/or has an odd sense of humor. I walk more than 14 dogs and groom them personally or get them groomed. Seems like a lost opportunity for Aloha dog. I wouldnt bring any dog there if they payed me their overpriced charges. I must commend the staff for being super friendly! I brought my dog in for the first time and she was really nervous. She hasn't had a groom in awhile so there was much to be done. Just wanted a clean, simple look for my pup and I got that. Paid around $50 for a full groom and I couldn't be happier. They also offer cage-free boarding so all the doggies can socialize, which is a wonderful concept. Will be coming back again! read more

They banned my DOG because I had unexpected EMERGENCIES and cancelled my appointment 2 times in 2 months. I cannot understand a word they say and they were absolutely RUDE. Her words were "Yooh cannot come hea no mo! Yooh cancel n now yooh banned! Yooh cannot bring yo dog eva again. Goodbye!" In a stuck up japanese accent. They HONESTLY have a great groomer, but they need to shape up their attitudes! I cannot and never will go to then again. The workers here do not understand or speak English at all. The old lady with the glasses wearing the ugly pink apron started speaking Japanese with her co-worker right in front of me by the front counter. I fully understand Japanese, but chose not to talk to them because this is America. The old lady said something about the health certificate I got from the vet. Long story short, these people are rude and speak sh*t about customers in Japanese right in front of you. This place will eventually fail because of horrible business ethics. This place does not deserve a single star! I am so disappointed with their service! They are extremely rude and pretends that they don't understand English with their Japanese accent. I took my puppy for a grooming service and they cut off all his puppy fur!! I couldn't even recognize my own puppy when I went to pick him up. My puppy got scabs from their grooming service. After trying for days to find a groomer for my two dogs, Toto and Coco to Aloha Dog for grooming services and was very pleased with the service! The entire staff was very nice and accommodating including the owner who was very easy to talk to. The groomer herself was very sweet and took the time to ensure I was satisfied with the grooming services. The facility was very clean and the pet to staff ratio was very good with very close attention paid to those their for day care services. These folks are the best groomers I have found in Honolulu - I have two maltese and a red-haired standard poodle, and they can do it all. The price is reasonable, the location is great (near shopping center and movie theatre so I can get my shopping and relaxing done while my "girls" go to the "spa"), and the staff is very kind and welcoming. They always remember my dogs names, and the grooming styles are excellent. Best of all, they always send me a cute photo of my "girls" after they are all done, and I have kept those over the years as the dogs have grown. I love this business! read more

Ok. I give in. After years of using Yelp and never giving back, I will finally write an actual review on a business. Who else could prompt me to pop my cherry and write my very first Yelp review is none other than my beloved fur baby, Koko. So I've been scouring the pages of yelp for a great dog groomer and daycare/boarding place since I moved hear last December and have been disappointed in the last two places I have taken him too (Nalowinds and Pacific Paws). Walking into Aloha Dog was like a breath of fresh air. So far, I've been once for daycare and once for grooming and each time, I've been greeted by extremely friendly and happy staff, who you can clearly see are dog people. The place is super cute inside, lots of nice furniture for your fur baby to lounge on, very clean, air conditioned, and doesn't have the stinky dog/urine smell, like most places. The daycare area is a good size for small to medium dogs, but I definitely wouldn't bring a large dog here, as they do not have an outdoor area. The only thing keeping them from getting five stars from me is that there is no web cam. Its always one of the first things I look for when I'm looking to board my dog. On the plus side, they do cage-free boarding, so I might be willing to overlook the lack of a web cam. I am often out of town and would appreciate a little peace of mind if I could check up on him once in a while. Last comment I have is regarding tip for the groomer, which I am always in the habit of doing. When I tipped the groomer, both the groomer and the front desk person seemed to be completely pleasantly surprised by it. Come on people, if you tip your hairdresser (which you should), then you better be tipping your dog groomer to. read more

We used to keep our pup at home during work hours and she did not like that. We would come home to messes and she would mope around while we got ready. Not a happy pup. We then did research about doggie day care and found this place. She loves it! The staff there are very knowledgeable and they are total dog people. Manami puts up pics on their fb page daily! They listen to your requests and are able to report how your dog did that day (good and bad). Very trustworthy. It's great! Our pup wouldn't eat all her breakfast before when we would leave her at home but now she does and she gets lunch! She is so much happier and so are we! We can totally see the positive change! We used to feel horrible for leaving her at home but now we feel great knowing she is at a place she loves and enjoys. I can see how parking would be a hassle but that only happened once and we have been here for two weeks now. We just started puppy training as Takashi is very nice and seems to have a great handle on dogs. The first training he was able to get a base line of the pup and told us what we should work on. I take my dog here every Friday for daycare, every since I started my new job, my baby misses out. He stays for full day, which is only $25 plus tax! How amazing is that?! I am still amazed at the fact that when I bring my baby home after a day of daycare, he is actually just passed out in his doggy bag sleeping away! It's hilarious! The workers are so sweet and amazing, when I have something come up, they are always accommodating. This place is ALWAYS CLEAN. And it's funny, when I get to the general area, my dog always knows where we are, and he is always excited to get out of the arms to play with the other dogs. I bring my pekingese/tibetan here all the time for grooming. What I like about this place is they don't charge extra or complain about my dog's matted fur. Other locations have complained and made it a big deal, so I'm sticking to Aloha Dog. Staff doesn't speak english as primary language but it's still easy enough to communicate your needs to them. They've been nice so far and they do a really good job. They also have a waiting area for the dogs to just hang out at. It's fun to look around and notice some of the dogs that hang around together like in their own gang. What I also like is they e-mail me a photo of my dog after grooming. Depending on the time of year, they'll dress him up and place him in front of a matching background. read more

Love this place and so does my little pup! Decided to try out their full grooming service because one of my friends recommended it and I am so glad I did. They did an awesome job on the cut and I also noticed that when they cut his nails it seemed like they filed it too so the edges weren't so sharp (may seem like a small detail but I really appreciate that extra touch!). All the staff are very nice and all the dogs in there look happy to be there too. Maybe I'll try out their doggy day care one of these days. Keep up the great work Aloha Dog! read more
