We came on a Friday at 4:30 and it was not busy. We had a $50 certificate that we paid $25 for. We had crab bisque, hush puppies, and a fried scallop appetizer. The bisque was very good, hot, and had a lot of stuff in it. I thought the crust on the fried scallops was a little heavy. The hush puppies were fine. The best thing I had was the fried oyster basket. The oysters were large and flavorful. Both the cajun fries and the sweet potato fries were very good. This review is based on just the food. The waitress was great, and I would give her a 5 I had a table of 4. We went visited Aloha Krab for our first and only time on February 19th, 2023. Every single one of us had food poisoning or at least the same symptoms of food poisoning. All of us all started getting sick at the same time. We all shared the same meal, which included shrimp, clams, crab legs, sausage, corn, and potatoes. The headless shrimp was not cleaned. This means we had to de poop the shrimp. We are paying good money, and the shrimp should be de shelled and cleaned. The clams were sandy and not cleaned. In closing, the food tasted fine, but everything came up intact. But I went here for takeout recently and had to wait for the manager to figure out the credit card machine and he was nowhere to be found. Out in Buffalo shopping and decided to try something different. I am not sure what this place was before but the decor make it look like a real seafood joint that you would see by the ocean and not a mall. They are fresh open because no liquor license yet but that is ok. As for the food, it was great. Wife and I ordered fried Calamari which was really good, just not enough dipping sauce for the amount of Calamari you get. Wife got husy puppies which she really liked. Then we got our son some fries and butter noodles. I tried both and they were really good. The fries were nice a crispy. Crunchy coating, more tempura than breading. Cooked nicely; tender. My guest ordered the fried oyster po' boy. I ordered the mini aloha combo. My guest, a po' boy aficionado, was very impressed with the size and quality of the oysters (five large) on the sandwich. The bread is exceptional. Very crisp thin crust with a soft chewy absorbent center. Fresh vegetables and a nice aioli dressed the bread. The sandwich was accompanied by excellent fries, crisp and buttery. My 'mini' was not very mini! A large cluster of snow crab, a couple of dozen clams and mussels, eight large shrimp, three large pieces of corn on the cob, and three medium salt potatoes. I was excited to try this restaurant because I love seafood. I ordered one of the seafood boils in a bag; specifically, shrimp and lobster. I paid $40 extra for two crab clusters making the total price of just my dinner to be around $80. Not that it was bad but, be prepared to eat a lot of butter if you order this. It was so messy and difficult to eat due to everything being slippery from all of the butter. I wouldn't waste your money on the crab legs because they were small and near impossible to cleanly crack open. I've had better ones at a Chinese buffet. I hate leaving a bad review, but this was warranted. I arrived with a friend for dinner around 8pm, the restaurant wasn't busy at all so we were seated immediately. As the waitress was seating us to a booth I noticed the seats were dirty with food, so I asked to be seated in another booth, it was better but still some crumbs on the seat which I had to wipe off myself before sitting down. After looking around I immediately noticed how dirty the place was overall, it looked like nobody had bothered to sweep the floors all day, so there were used napkins, plastic gloves, food crumbs and scraps just sitting under all the tables. As it was Saturday night all the other nearby restaurants were very busy so options were limited without a reservation, and since we were hungry and it was getting late we decided to stick it out and hopefully the food would be at least be good. Our waitress was polite, and took our order promptly, it was a very simple order with two appetizers and two entrees, we also asked that the appetizers come out first. After waiting over 30 minutes for two appetizers our hunger and frustrations were growing. The table behind us was complaining about bad oysters and returned them, so another bad sign. Our waitress then disappeared, we spotted her heading outside and didn't return for over 10 minutes. We had to flag down another waitress to inquire about our order. Finally when she came in the appetizers came out. No surprise our mozzarella sticks were cold, likely sitting under a hot light in the kitchen. About 3 minutes later she arrived with our orders, and as she put my order down I noticed a long hair was sitting right on top of the food, I immediately told the waitress and she said she would get us a new order, but by that point we were disgusted and over this place. We did not eat anything and left hungry an hour after arriving. I wouldn't recommend this place and hope the manager tries to improve on food quality and overall cleanliness. read more

We ate at Aloha Krab on Wednesday, 10/9/2024 in Buffalo, New York. The atmosphere was relaxing and warm. The playlist was the Oldies and we sang along with every song. It was midday. Our waitress was friendly and very accomodating. We ordered Crab legs, shrimp and a dry rub buffalo wing basket with corn on the cob, new potatoes, boiled eggs and sweet potato fries. They have a full service bar and they socially distance you from the parties around you. Very spacious place with a parking deck and free parking. My girlfriend and I came here for the first and more than likely, last time. The food was ok, but the service was very bad tonight. The host was not very astute, he acted like he was the son of the owners while roaming around the floor and bar. I've worked at family run restaurants, and the kids sometimes take their job for granted, this felt like one of those times. The bartender, Dom, I think his name might have been (not sure, he never actually introduced himself to us), scolded the host when he was behind the bar a couple times when he decided he could make his own blended drinks. I'm not sure if there was alcohol in them, but it's not a good image for the restaurant either way. We were told there would be a 10 minute wait, with about half of the seats open. I do not know if there were reservations or not, but we sat at the bar. So the bartender mentioned the draft beers were not operational, he said something about the heat causing the problem that day to another customer. Again, I've worked in restaurants and it's normally a pretty big problem when the draft beer is not working. The drip trays were not set up under the draft line, so I don't think the draft system has been working for at least today, maybe longer. Something didn't feel right about those taps. So I had a bottled beer and my girlfriend had a blended drink. We were close to halfway done with our drinks by the time by the time Dom came back for our orders. It didn't look like he was getting consistent help with his orders from the food runners, which put him behind. So he took our orders, and a side of ranch dressing was requested with one of our dinner, which never came out. One of the servers brought out our dinners, we had barely time to take our first bite when Dom came past and said, "you're good, you're good" and then kept on going. He did not ask "is there anything else I can get for you?" The food was decent, my girlfriend had a po'boy with Cajun fries, I had a seafood boil. The medium level of their seasoning has a good kick to it, so be careful if you don't handle heat all that well. Our drinks were empty well before our food was done, but because of how Dom wasn't getting the help he needed, we couldn't flag him down to even ask for more beverages. My girlfriend was able to get a water from a server who was momentarily behind the bar. After we were done with our meals, we asked for the bill right away, only then did he ask if I wanted another beer, and he didn't even ask my girlfriend for one. I said "no thanks" and he went to get our bill. The 18% tip was about half of what we would give for good service. I'd have to say, if he was getting proper help, the service, more than likely, would have been better. I didn't really feel much of a manager's presence on the floor either, which could have made a difference as well. read more

By the reviews I've read and my experience it seems this place is very unreliable for service and food. The food was ok. Nothing special for a seafood boil type of place. But the food did not sit well in my stomach. When it comes to the service, it was a mess. The waitress took a while to even greet us to take our drink orders. She was also not very knowledgeable about the menu and made the menu seem a bit confusing when ordering. We ordered the aloha combo and she asked if we wanted to add another cluster of snow crab to the order, but the aloha combo comes with a pound of snow crab and not clusters. So I ordered a second helping with the understanding that we were only getting 1 cluster. It turned out to be an extra pound for an additional $30. This was very disappointing when we received our meal. Also I asked if we could add sausage to the boil and she told us that you can make any modifications to the meals even though it was adding it as a side. Then proceeded to delete our order, ask us again what it was and not include the sausage. It was a very disappointing experience all together. She checked on us way to many times while waiting and while eating. And apologized way to many times. I do not enjoy leaving negative reviews but I do want to be honest. I came here on opening night so I tried to cut them some slack. We were seated fairly close to two other guests. This wouldn't be the biggest deal on a "normal" day except for crab legs can get messy to crack but also COVID is a thing! We asked the waitress what the crab fries were and she made it up- and you could tell!! " Deep fried crab in the shape of fries?? Did you want me to ask?" We said "yes please." Only to find out they were fries covered with crab and "aloha sauce". I asked if she knew what the "aloha sauce" was and just straight up was told NO. I get not knowing especially on opening day but maybe find out? Also the food was not worth the price. You could tell the seafood wasn't fresh and the size of it was not worth it. Alright. Most of the other reviews already touch on service which was exactly what we got as well. Our waitress and almost all the others seemed to be pretty young like just at the age to serve so their customer service skills REALLY need some work. The intent is there but the wording is totally off base. What I wasn't expecting was how POOR QUALITY the seafood was. I was extremely disappointed since I love seafood. My boyfriend and I decided to share both of our dinners to try a lot of different things. We tried Crab Cakes, Snow Crab Legs, 6oz Lobster Tail and then Fried Calamari and Coconut Shrimp for appetizers. The appetizers were more than likely frozen and fried so those actually were the best thing we had. The crab cakes tasted spoiled. I don't do this often but I couldn't even swallow the bite I took. The crab legs were EXTREMELY small. Honestly not worth the work to crack open for the small amount of meat there was. Lastly, I was appalled at the lobster tail. I'm no chef BY ANY MEANS but I don't think a lobster tail should be steamed? I took a bite and it was ALL MUSH. Not sure what it is but a better seafood retailer would be a good start. The food sauce was butter and water with slight Cajun seasonings. The waiter was kind but missed half of our order and we didn't get it until our meal was almost gone. I used the bathroom and the soap was extremely watered down. I used it 3 times and still had the butter oil on them while smelling like seafood. I am a seafood lover so I had to give this place a try. I ordered the oysters as an appetizer which were 6 for $10 which is a very good price as most places it's marked priced and $2 to $3 an oyster. I have to say I was disappointed in them. They did not taste fresh, likely were frozen and lacked any quality of flavor. Also, they were not served with proper accoutrements, only cocktail sauce, no lemon, hot sauce, mignonette, etc. I ordered the crab and shrimp boil combo. I confess it was also lack luster. I opted for old bay seasoning which was present but with way too much oil. The crab cluster was small and difficult to extract the meat due to the narrow legs. Yesterday we visited Aloha Krab for the first time. Our waitress was new and very sweet. My husband ordered a PO boy crab sandwich and I ordered a pasta dish with crab and shrimp with the tails off. My husband enjoyed his sandwich very much and I tasted it and was very good. My dish came with no crab and shrimp with tails on. I didn't order a drink and my husband got a draft and we were charged $57 for that meal which I thought was exorbitant.
