The seafood pasta and the crab cake were good, the carrot cake was delicious! Didn't like the chocolate cake because the frosting was too heavy. Every drink we ordered was either too strong or too sour, we ended up sending two drinks back, the day tripper and the love me dew. We ate outside on the patio without having a reservation and the hostess let us know the expected time and was able to suit us quicker than ten minutes. On a positive note...our server was friendly, laid back and did a great job. Food was good. Drinks fine too but weird the beer and cocktails had no pricing available. But more odd...the hostess was really unwelcoming. We arrived at exactly 622 for a 630 reservation. How do I know I arrived at 6:22?? The hostess told me and said she would seat us at the time I requested and that we could go stand at the bar for eight minutes. The restaurant was not even 1/3 full. I didn't say anything because I was there for a glass of wine and a crabcake... not an argument. In the future, I'll gladly just pop in to any of the other great spots nearby instead. read more

Extremely disappointing! I had an old fashioned at the bar. I watched the bartender finish the bottle in my glass. The glass was MAYBE half way full. Instead of getting a new bottle, he added more ice and water to fill the glass. He then put a maraschino cherry in the drink, instead of the Luxor cherries they had sitting on the bar. It was terrible- without a doubt the worst old fashioned I have ever had. The bartender wasn't even remotely nice either. We then sat down to dinner. I ordered the pork chop. I cut into the pork chop, which seemed a bit undercooked, but thought it must be okay at a restaurant like this. I bit into it and the center was RAW. It was beyond disgusting. I showed the waiter and he agreed. He offered to bring me something else but, by this time, everyone else in my party was about halfway through their meal. The waiter was very nice and took the dinner off the bill, but I'm just waiting to get sick- I ate raw pork. I did have an issue this time, I had made a reservation for 6:30 and got there at 6:25 - they said it would be a few minutes... waited well over an hour until 7:43 to be seated with a reservation. My reservation was for 6:30 not 7:30 and it was only a table for 3 so that was a huge frustration and disappointment. Prices keep going up but quality keeps going down? Remington was once a favorite but probably won't be returning. Ordered a "chilled seafood trio" appetizer with shrimp, lobster and crab but the crab came in a tiny cup like a crab salad which was not noted on the menu. Shells in the oysters and "crab". Shrimp had feces in it still, could get better from wegmans. Ordered the strip steak medium and it came medium rare/rare. For a $70 average tasting steak, it should be cooked and served as ordered. Had to take it home to cook more and eat. Nearly $400 for 3 people, should be the best meal you ever had... Go to Prescott's. read more

Had a party of 5, our first time there. Had to wait a bit for our table that we had reservations for, no big deal. Ordered our meal, everyone very professional, server friendly. Meals came, i ordered my $70 steak medium rare, and my niece ordered hers med well. Mine arrived med well and hers med rare. We ordered different cuts or we just would have swapped. I let the server know mine was over done, my niece won't complain. I think it's was the way he handled it, i felt like he was trying to make me feel bad for wanting a new steak medium rare. He told me, "well it'll take at least 20 min, you sure you just don't want to keep this one? " I mean, this isn't roadhouse, for $70 I want it how I like it. So he took the steak and left the broccoli and potatoes, so that's what I ate. When the steak came, it was correct but I was full, so my meal was not enjoyable. I would think with the high end cuts of steak the cooks would have to top notch. I'm thinking someone mixed up mine and my nieces steak temperatures. We like coming here several times a year to treat ourselves to a nice meal. We love the service that we get by our wait staff. Always top of the line. It was our anniversary so we made reservations. I guess because of the Sabres were playing at home it wasn't very crowded in the restaurant. We got there 15 minutes before our reserve time and the girl said our table was not ready. We went to the bar but couldn't find a seat so we stood in the aisle and had a drink. 15 minutes after our reservation time we end up going to the girl and ask her what's going on. At that point, we sat at a high top and finished our drink. Finally, she put us at a table. Not too happy with that having to wait so long with all those empty tables and wait staff standing around. We always had a very good experience here until tonight. We went to Lombardo's last year for our anniversary and we were treated like we were family. I guess next year will go back there. read more

Fantastic! Began with the lobster ravioli and pike fingers. The lobster ravioli were very tasty. The pike fingers were fine - ordered this specifically for the accompanied cajun remoulade which didn't quite meet the high expectations. IMO the cost of the food did not match the quality. It was good, but $68.00 for a NY strip steak is ludicrous, especially when the mashed potatoes were probably the best food on my plate. Absolutely love coming to this place! The staff are amazing and very friendly! The ambience is great especially with a group of friends or two. The food is presented very nicely on a plate, quality of food is 5stars all the way!!!! The steak here has been the best steak I've tasted yet! So tender and flavorful, I only tried to eat half just to savor the richness later lol. Scallops are made to perfection a bit on the $$ side but you get what you pay for I guess. Sword fish this was my first time ever trying it and it was delicious! Definitely recommend this establishment and definitely looking forward to returning to dine in with wifey! Food Outstanding. My partner and I had The Wedge Salad -Fantastic. My partner had the Stuffed Salmon which was rich and delicious. I had the Steak Sandwich which was cooked perfectly accompanied by sweet and sour cabbage -Wonderful. Went here for my nieces birthday and it was delicious. The clams were huge and juicy. The lobster bisque is also really good with a giant piece of lobster in it. Went here for Beatles and Beer on Monday night. Prices are up and service and quaff food has gone down. First hint was it wasn't packed like it always was on Monday nights. Two of the party ordered the Burgers with fries and a beer. The burgers were ordered medium and came out well done. Two of us ordered the rib eyes. Usually delicious, however, the steak had zero sear and thus zero flavor. The steaks were tender. Hardly any mashed potatoes. Took over 45 minutes to get our food. This was a very good restaurant, not quite outstanding, but we had a better experience than we anticipated. We were placed in the corner of the patio because we asked for a quiet seat. The music here is too loud and there's many families with small children as well (kind of a surprise given the prices). It's also cavernous inside. Our server was friendly and came by regularly, but there was also a passel of busboys/girls regularly attending to all the tables, so really quite well staffed. The main menu was not all that interesting, so that was what initially led to lowered expectations, but once we got the specials menu, I got excited again. Everything looked good. In the end, I got a half-dozen oysters and the pork shank. The oysters were all fresh and good, but the really small ones were amazing! My pork shank was pretty massive, cooked until it was falling off the bone and with a well-matched brown sauce. My husband got the eggplant Napoleon, which was nice and crunchy with a good combination of flavor from the tomato, mozzarella, red pepper remoulade and green olive tapenade. For his main course, he got Wagyu steak with the "Remington sauce", which was really great (for a namesake sauce, why do I not recall seeing it on the regular menu?). Sides were fine and nothing was oversalted or overseasoned, but also everything still had enough seasoning to have flavor. I felt like all of these dishes were priced correctly, but it felt like the prices on a lot of the main menu were a little inflated. A few notes about the wine selection, because it was both good and frustrating. All the wines fell into the affordable range ($35-40/bottle). I do appreciate making the wines more accessible, but couldn't they have had just a couple bottles in the $50-70 range if you wanted something nicer? The bottles all felt like everyday quaff, which didn't jibe for a place charging $60 for a steak and having lobster tail as a possible addition to any course. That being said, keeping wines at such a low price point could have meant an unimaginative wine list consisting solely of major producers. While I wouldn't go so far as to say the selection was interesting, they seemed to studiously avoid obvious choices and tried to pick some wines that outperformed. Our Provence rose was perfectly pleasant. I also recognized Famille Perrin, which is completely fine white CdR. At least, I hope it was Perrin CdR and not their bleh sublabel La Vieille Ferme. That brings me to the last frustration: the menu didn't describe the wines. I remember one was "Producer | Chardonnay | France". Hmmm what part of France? Burgundy? Chablis? some lesser region? That's a big difference. Also, what year is the vintage? I had these types of basic questions about every wine on the menu, but I didn't want to nag our waitress too much. This basic info should have just been on the menu. All the issues seem to stem from an unclear identity of what this restaurant wants to be. On the one hand, they want to be a Friday night family restaurant that has burgers and sandwiches and accommodates large groups. On the other hand, they want to serve lots of pricy steak and lobster like a steakhouse. On the one hand, they want the wine to be affordable and not fussy. On the other hand, there's nothing to match the $60 steaks on the menu. Is this a place that you can take someone when you're trying to impress them? Or is this a no-frills neighborhood pub? It falls into this gray zone, because it's trying to do both at once and I feel rather ambivalent about it as a result. Because of the food, it's the type of place I'd be happy to come back to if someone else picked it, but it's not quite good enough to be one I'd pick myself. read more

Great raw bar - the fresh Rhode Island clams and oysters (I don't remember the variety) we ordered were delicious and came with some tasty sauces. It was hard to choose from the variety of oysters offered but we enjoyed the one recommended by our waiter. The banana peppers, generously stuffed with ricotta cheese, were well done and especially good smoothed onto the still warm dinner rolls (a method demonstrated by my adult grandson). Each of the four of us enjoyed our entrees; the Rigatoni Bolognese which was perfectly seasoned; the Red wine Braised beef shank was tender falling off the bone; the Halibut with its accompanying fingerling potatoes was excellent; but the star of the entrees was the Sesame crusted yellow fin tuna, well seasoned with soy, wasabi ginger and accompanied by a delicious orzo pasta. The ambience in the former Remington typewriter factory was young and hip as were the handsome and knowledgeable servers. It's been 5 years since we had last been. Came here to celebrate a birthday and had a wonderful experience. For appetizers we got an order of 6 raw oysters and the smoked fish dip, both to share. For dinner I had the swordfish Oscar which came with potato wedges, asparagus, and hollandaise sauce. We also shared a bottle of Riesling which was served very cold. Service was fantastic and we loved the warm bread too. Atmosphere was great for a date night. We sat upstairs and the lighting was dim, the tables had candles on them. 100% I don't want to wait another 5 years to come back. We were there on a Friday night and the place was jumping!! That said, the service provided by waiter Nicholas and the support team was excellent. The food arrived in a timely manner and everyone in our party was pleased. Only fly in the ointment was a rude bartender (short hair with reading glasses perched on his nose) who looked right at me as I was waving to order a drink at the bar and turned the other way and ignored me. This is my fourth time having dinner at Remington Tavern. The first three times, the food was considerably better than it was this evening, but the portions were quite small. I can tolerate small portions if the food is really excellent. This time, the portions were much larger, but the quality substantially lower. The fish fry was greasy, the Parmesan truffle french fries were not hot, the fried calamari was also greasy. The lobster bisque Remains excellent. The wait staff are excellent, knowledgeable, and well trained on how to serve food and beverages. They have a full bar with extensive whiskey offerings, which served my party of four very well. If not for the excellence of the cuisine on prior occasions, I would have awarded two stars for this last visit. read more

Note: We visited the Remington Tavern a long time ago so the items we ordered may no longer be available. The Tavern has a nice selection of tap and beer selections. The overall menu is mid to high end, not just a local pub food place. We had the St Louis ribs that were basted with a standard BBQ sauce and were quite good. The almond crusted shrimp was fantastic. Ask for the sweet chili sauce. What makes this place special is the location by the water, must be fun to come out during a nice summer night to hang out, have some beers and enjoy the sunset. read more

This is my favorite restaurant to go to for birthdays! The staff there are really nice and make the experience more memorable. I always like to order the salmon with the cabbage and roasted potatoes. In town on business and had to get out of Niagara to try a decent restaurant, not much of a selection there. It's about a 20 min ride and worth it. Parking is tricky, only a few spots. Valet is an option but I didn't know where they were and no sign. I drove around looking for parking, lots of no parking signs everywhere. There's an outdoor space, I opted for bar seating. Pretty spacious bar area, no problem grabbing a spot. Decent looking menu, I read good reviews prior to coming. I opted for some clams to start, the fresh Rhode Island clams & broiled clams casino. Both were excellent. The RI clams were fresh! Clams Casino is one of my favs and they did it right. Lots of flavor and cooked to perfection. Good start! For entree I got the special, which was a crab stuffed salmon in a lemon caper sauce. This was ok, wish it had some more seasoning. It was pretty bland considering it sounded better on paper. All in all a pretty good spot considering the options are very limited. People tell me I'm better off going to Buffalo for good food. read more
