My husband said it best. "Anout 75 percent of the people in this room are getting a great dinner and the rest are subpar." We chose Mother's to get together with our good friends. The company was phenomenal. That was the 10 star part of the evening. The service was great. The food was lacking. My husband and I got some oysters to start. They were fine. I ordered the ny strip rare. It came medium. It was overdone for my liking. I also didnt say anything. I maybe should have, but I dont like to. The potatoes were fine and the green beans were fine. My husband got the duck and said it was fine. The cocktails were good. When you pick a place to go out to, you expect the food to be more than just fine. Will I return? Maybe for a cocktail. I love the ambiance and the patio in the summer, but it isnt enough for me to get back to Mothers in a hurry.

Trying to find dinner reservations on a Sunday before Shea's is not easy. Thanks to Yelp as it brough us back too Mothers. Quick service and all the entrees and salads and bread were great! We have not been here in 25 years but after this past visit we will be going back more. Here is a restaurant that knows how to take care of all its patrons - Open 7 days a Week Bar Hours: 4pm-2am Kitchen Hours: 5pm- Midnight Go there they will be waiting!

I have heard great things about this restaurant so I was excited to try it out for my friends birthday. The bar area is so nice, I could sit at the bar all day for cocktails. The food and service left something to be desired. They don't let you order appetizers unless you order all of your food at once. I've never heard of that policy at any other restaurant I've been to...and that's a lot lol. The appetizers were really good - we ordered shrimp fritters, clams, and the brie and artichoke dip. We ordered cocktails such as Palomas, wine, margaritas, etc. and they were all good and fairly priced. The entrees though were less than great. I ordered the scallops linguine that has black noodles but they had no ink flavor so I'm not sure if they just dyed them? They didn't advertise it as ink pasta, I just assumed because of the color. The saffron sauce had no saffron flavor. The scallops were cooked perfectly though. My friends all got different steak dishes and regardless of whether they ordered medium rare or medium, they all came out super rare and the vegetables were cold. We sent back 2 of the dishes and asked them to cook the meat a little more ... The food came back 2 minutes later with no additional cook to it. But everyone knows you don't send food back a second time unless you want to risk it being tampered with, So we all sucked it up and ate our food. Was it great? No... But it was good. Would we go back? Probably not.

A lot of my friend recommended this place so we decided to try this place for our valentine date night. It is a very cozy and romantic looking place. We made reservations because I knew how pack it was gonna get around Valentine's week. We got seated right away. The staffs were super friendly. We made our order and my husband got himself a glass of wine. The first I notice was this wine glass was dirty and there was something floating in the wine. I immediately asked the staff for a new glass. The starters were good, the Brie was a little heavy. My favorite starter was the steamed mussels. The broth was so good and the meat comes off the s very easily. Next was our main dish. It was quite disappointing. My fish came undercooked so I couldn't even finish it even if I want to. I didn't tell the staff since I already complained about something that night. My husband enjoyed his steak so that was good. It was very disappointing, making me have second thoughts about trying it again

    Pasta bolognese

Food was hohum. Mesclun salad lacked a dressing of any sort. Thank goodness there was Gorgonzola cheese on it to make it edible. The pasta bolognese should have been fabulous but lukewarm pasta and sauce can never be good. The massive dollop of ricotta cheese made no sense to this dish. Let's talk about the bread. I've never been as underwhelmed by bread and butter in my life. Yet Mother's managed to find the most flavorless bread ever. How is that possible?!? The artichoke Brie appetizer was cooked beyond any recognizable flavor!! I had to ask what it actually was because there was no taste! The place was nice and accommodating but food was a 3 out 10 at best.

I was there for the first time with a larger group. We had called ahead for seating and actually ended up with a couple less people, which ended up working out well because we were able to sit at one large table outside under the gazebo. Our server Jen was really fun! She was running all over, but I don't remember ever wanting for anything or trying to find her, so that's always good :) I had been looking at the menu for about a week trying to decide between swordfish or scallops. I went with the swordfish and I'm happy I did. It was amazing! Nice size cut, cooked perfectly. Came with asparagus which I really like, and they did a great job with that! Soft but had a snap to it, it was good. The rice I had with mine was amazing. We had a wide range of dishes around the table so I was able to see quite a bit. Everyone really enjoyed their food, and didn't hear any complaints. We ordered a bunch of appetizers as well, they were all really good. The atmosphere was fun, it was a little windy and we had a cover from the gazebo that was causing some issues, but our server figured it out so no worry. :) I'll go back again when I visit, thanks for the food and fun atmosphere!

This place is fantastic! Ordered the Littleneck Clams off the Specials Menu- probably the best I've ever had! Then ordered the Meatloaf Dinner & all I can say is WOW! So good! The service was top notch! MJ was so kind & helpful & went above & beyond to give us a great experience. Will definitely be returning here when I visit Buffalo.

We got seating on a Sunday! Just in time before rush came in. The staff were super friendly. Shout out to Jennifer for being our lovely waitress. We got the Brie as an appetizer and it didn't disappoint. The steak on the other hand, was just alright. We both ordered our steaks medium rare. One came out over cooked and one came out undercooked. For dessert we ordered the chocolate cake and it was one of the best I've had in Buffalo. It was HUGE. Be prepared to share and take home!

Went for my engagement dinner with my partner and was not disappointed! Firstly, we had the best server who was so friendly and accommodating as we initially started out outside, but then my partner was a little cold, so were able to move inside without any interruption to the service experience. She was the best. In terms of the food, I opted for the Pasta Bolognese, which was very yummy. Definitely wish I had some leftovers. My partner who was in a rabbit sort of mood, I suppose and got all appetizers for her dinner, including the bread basket, mussels, and clams. She seemed to really enjoy them a lot, though she mentioned she didn't care as much for the sauce base they were both in. For drinks, I opted for a Classic Cosmopolitan and she had Prosecco. I really enjoyed my Cosmo! Almost got a second one but resisted, haha. This place is definitely worth a visit if you're looking for a nicer than average dinner out with well above average deliciousness.

Okay let me start off by saying, this was by far the best dinner I have ever had. I'm 29, and I LOVE trying new restaurants. It's a bit pricey, but it's well worth it. I forgot to take pictures at first because I was astonished at how great the food was. We got lobster gnocchi to start, and it was fantastic. I got the duck breast as my entree, and when I tell you it was the best food I've ever had, I mean it. We sat on the patio, and it was beautiful. It has a courtyard vibe, and there was a great spot to take pictures. Our server was so kind the entire time. He let me step into the kitchen for a second to thank the cook personally. If you have never been here, you're missing out!!

I was told those are only available during brunch -- totally fine, I get that certain specials have set times. However, I then tried to order the martini flight that was listed on the drink menu and was told that was seasonal and no longer available. That was a bit confusing, especially since it hadn't been removed. I also wasn't offered any alternative flavors or suggestions, which felt like a missed opportunity. I ended up ordering their standard espresso martini -- which they seem to pride themselves on -- but unfortunately it tasted burnt. It also appeared that the espresso isn't made fresh, as there was a bottle of espresso sitting on the bar. For a cocktail that really depends on quality espresso, that was disappointing. However my friend did try another cocktail off their drink menu and it was delicious. To finish our visit, I waited about 10 minutes just to get my check while the bartender was engaged in conversation with other bartenders. It made the experience feel inattentive and frustrating. The space itself has a cool vibe, but overall the experience fell short of expectations. I'd love to see more consistency between the menu, social media, and what's actually available, fresher preparation for a cocktail they promote so heavily, and more attentiveness at the bar.

Bao buns: My mom ordered these because they were labeled GF, but she definitely should have mentioned that she has an intolerance to gluten, because the add on of "salt & pepper shrimp" is not GF (not indicated on menu). The shrimp had a crispy flour coating. Also the buns were much smaller than anticipated, so this appetizer does not work for a filling meal. Falley burger: Description sounded fantastic with the homemade chip dip and salt & pepper chips, but unfortunately both lacked in flavor. I honestly couldn't taste either and the chips were more of greasy potato slices. I'm not much of a pickle fan, but I'm glad they were on the burger to give it some taste. On a good note, there were plenty of fries. It was sad to see this place dead on a Thursday evening. We were the only ones dining in, had a few take-outs come through. They do have food/drink specials throughout the week and the cocktail drink menu looks fun. Maybe we just ordered the wrong things or perhaps it was an off-day in the kitchen.

I miss Cafe 59...and used to overlook the fact that potato wedges aren't included with the sandwiches, the falafel burger is always mushy in the middle, they don't include enough dressing with their salads...and things are sloppily prepared. I overlooked all of that because they use whole foods and the taste was decent. Fast forward to 2025, I've included a photo of a turkey burgundy sandwich with a small bag of Lay's (weird choice, but ok) and a pickle spear, which costs $17.25 before you even add tax or tip. What?? I totally get that costs are rising for everyone including restaurants, but this isn't in line with what you can get at other places, even on the same street. If you can't sell your original menu at reasonable prices anymore, then you need to adjust it. We won't be back.

Our waitress was really friendly and told me the French onion soup is one of their popular items, so that got me excited. It came out fast and it was pretty good. The croutons were honestly my favorite part, super seasoned and actually had flavor. This was only my second time having French onion soup though and I'm still on the fence... it felt like it was missing something, or maybe I just don't get the hype yet lol My friend got the chicken broccoli alfredo and I got the cajun chicken linguine. The portions are HUGE, like you're definitely not leaving hungry. She said hers didn't have much flavor even after adding salt and pepper and was already planning how she was going to fix it at home. My chicken was a little burnt so it was dry and kind of messed with the flavor, but the pasta itself was good. I loved that they added a little bread to soak up the sauce. The huge portions made up for the bland flavors. Not even gonna lie, a few bites in my stomach said "absolutely not" which is no fault of theirs, 100% on me for going all in on dairy, so my friend ended up taking both meals home. Overall I'd recommend it if you like a bar vibe, big portions, and solid food. 8.3/10
