My husband and I recently celebrated our 40-year anniversary with a vow renewal ceremony on the beach in Maui, and it was absolutely magical. We chose Maui because of its natural beauty and the peaceful, romantic atmosphere and we celebrated our honeymoon here 40 years ago and it completely delivered. I set this up as a surprise for my husband and it was the best! Darci helped me pull this off from the beginning! The ceremony was simple yet deeply meaningful. I didn't fully understand the concept of the word Ohana before having our wedding in Maui. But after working with Darci and Penny with Aloha Maui Dream Weddings, I not only understand it but truly feel it. From our very first encounter, I felt the love and compassion for others that exudes from Darci. I would truly hesitate in recommending Darci as a wedding planner. We decided to go with her since she was a lesbian business owner so felt comfortable with her handling our same sex wedding. We started planning a year in advance and she was super responsive in her communication. The problems started when we wanted to switch our location from the beach (issues with numbers and covid) to Gannon's which is where we had booked our reception. She made the switch for us but a few months later on a call with us she chastised us for not letting her know we made a switch. She didn't recall being the one to make the change for us. On the same call, which was about 4 to 5 months out from our wedding, she mentioned she would refer us to a hair and makeup person. I never heard anything back. Two weeks before we were set to leave for Maui I get a text from a random number about my hair and makeup and my appointment that had been set. I had heard nothing about it. No mention of the name, the cost etc. I had booked my own hair and makeup, as did my wife, as I really decided to not to ask for anything extra from Darci. Invoices were consistently wrong. At one time there were emails back and forth, trying to correct an invoice with items needed for the wedding as I would let her know that we didn't want the addition of she had left off a request and continuously the invoice She set our appointment to get her marriage license and the person we were meeting with sent us a detailed message. Darci sent a detailed message a few days later and it contradicted one or two things so we asked. She said, "well I don't know what they send out". You do this as part of your package but you don't know? We had our own officiant and we needed help with information on knowing if our officiant could sign our paperwork. She said she didn't know. Nor did she put much effort to find out. We did the leg work to figure it out. Our personal friend officiant decided to hire a Hawaiian officiant to co officiate to help with the Hawaiian traditions which we were thrilled about. It was supposed to a surprise, but Darci accidentally told us about it. No harm done as it didn't register until after. Our friend said, Darci was very timely in making the request happen. However, Darci was quick to charge our friend even though our package included an officiant. When I asked Darci about the charge she said it was because we got her as a day of coordinator instead. And she refunded the money. I let her know it wasn't necessary for the refund but I did want to understand the charge. I had no idea she wasn't also the day of person as I was led to believe they were one and the same. Perhaps our fault? But I see these other reviews where she was there the day of? Does that change when you change venue. She wasn't there for our reception and we didn't ask her to be so still a bit confused. Bottom line.... Terrible communication from midway to finish. Being fast to respond doesn't mean you are accurate in your response. She also chastised us on our wedding day for not having our cell phones with us as she was trying to send a text telling us to meet in the lobby. Where exactly was I supposed to put my cell phone? My wife and I were already in the lobby. I asked "is this not the lobby?". She assumes you know stuff that we wouldn't know! It was maddening. Our floral bouquets were basically thrown at us (not done how we we envisioned, but still beautiful) and said "well I don't know what happened with the florals, something happened". We are pretty easy going and our day was beautiful, but we stayed on top of things and created the day we wanted. Darci created a headache for us. If you want a cookie cut out beach ceremony she is your person, if you ask for anything other than what she can do using her standard people then you might have issues. I am truly happy that there are so many positive reviews, trying to still figure out why things were a headache for us! read more

Oh' my gosh!! Where do I begin?! Darci is absolutely the most amazing wedding planner/coordinator/fixer/friend ever !! We planned to have our daughter's wedding 2 weeks after the Lahaina wildfires and weren't even sure if we should move forward after such devastation. FUTURE BRIDES BEWARE... I did not have same experience as the other happy brides on any of the wedding forums who employed Darci and Aloha Maui Dream Wedding. This on some level makes me question the comments. Because we knew all of our vendors (we live on Maui), several of them felt open enough to share their experience working with her after the wedding. Comments from our vendors: "I didn't want to give her my information because I never want to work with her again." "When I arrived on property, it was complete disorganization." "Darci and her crew cannot handle a property like Olowalu Plantation House." "The property manager was more on top of it than your coordinator." "I saw the coordinator delegating more than doing the things she should have been doing." "Darci ran into the buffet line as soon as the last guests had served themselves." "I saw a guest trying to help with a fallen flower pot and one of Darci's crew couldn't lift it herself. She should not be asking or accepting help from a guest." Comments from our guests: "Your coordinator is playing Scrabble on the porch." "If you paid more than $500 for her you got ripped off." Right before the wedding, I was taken aside by a member of the wedding party - "Why is your coordinator just hanging out on the porch with her friends?" I know no wedding is perfect, but Darci and her crew failed on very important responsibilities: - SHE DID NOT SHOW UP FOR THE REHEARSAL the day before. She missed the requested meeting with the property manager. It was clear to me as I spent more time working with her that she had NOT worked at Olowalu Plantation House. - Darci accidentally mixed up the rental chair covers with our tablecloths. She told us at the end of the night that we had to fix it or we would get charged $300. SHE should have been the one to make her mistake right, not us. - She put the gift card box at the front of the property where it was unprotected and could be stolen. If you know the history of the property, there have been unfortunate thefts at OPH. Anything not put in the locked closet is at risk. She had explicit instructions to put it on a table in the middle of the property. Some of our guests were smart enough to NOT leave their cards at the front where she put the gift box. - All of the cards were thrown on the bed in the middle of the reception. I had to retrieve the gift box on the ground where it was incorrectly placed take the cards with me, and put them where they belonged in the middle of the property so they would not be taken. - She requested $30 from us TWICE during the wedding - during cocktail hour and at the very, very end. She actually ran after us at the end of the night. This is not the day or time. Invoice us. - The vendors were calling me the day before the wedding. Darci never called any of them like she had promised and I was coordinating right up to the wedding day. The vendors did not know who she was. The DJ stopped asked Darci the schedule because she didn't know what was going on, so he started just coming up to me (he's a friend...but still.) - We (bride and groom) were last people on property cleaning up - Darci and her crew just left! - SHE BROUGHT SCRABBLE TO THE WEDDING. These were the MAJOR issues that happened. But there were lots of little things too that I noticed - those are the things that don't matter as much. But it was a major fail on so many levels it was unbelievable. She couldn't lift a bin with a lot of our wedding decor and instead of choosing to troubleshoot (hey, open the bin and start taking out the decorations to make the bin less heavy) she left it in the closet. We had to get the best man and officiant to take it out while they were getting dressed. I would like to add that she did give us a deal for day of coordination ($1K). We didn't budget for a coordinator and it's within contract that a coordinator is mandatory. Using Darci and AMDW is basically paying someone to play Scrabble at your wedding (because that is what happened). I can't speak for the other properties but she does not have the skillset to do a wedding at a place like OPH. Hopefully our memory fades but man, what a terrible, terrible experience. Reach out to me if you have any other questions, I'm happy to share. I wouldn't want another bride who is planning a wedding on Maui (whether you live here or not) to be blindsided with such a disappointing level of service. P.S. I did speak to Darci to share our disappointment with her. I know she wanted the best for us but she simply is not at a level to execute correctly. She was quick to defend herself, backtracked on our original agreed service and noted all of the compliments that she received from our parents. They had no idea we had a coordinator. There are tons of wedding coordinators on Maui - my mistake was prioritizing budget over skill and execution. Don't be me!!! PLEASE...weddings are stressful enough. You don't need this. read more

Darci is a MUST HIRE when planning/coordinating a wedding. I started searching for a coordinator early in the planning process and I found her through TheKnot, went to the website and was immediately messaged by Darci asking if I had any questions. She sent pricing/packages that night and within a couple days we booked her day of coordinating services. From there she explained the process and what she needed from us. She sent over a detailed questionnaire that helped guide us in all the decision making for our wedding. We spoke on the phone, over text and through email and she was quick to respond and when she didn't have time to answer all of our questions in that moment, she communicated when she'd have answers. Fast forward to the rehearsal, Darci did an amazing job making sure our wedding party knew exactly where to be and what to do. When the groomsmen got a little out of hand, she pulled them aside to ensure they understood their part. We walked away from the rehearsal feeling at ease and knowing our day was in good hands. The day of our wedding she texted me to keep me in the loop that she was there and all was going well- this made it so we could relax! Darci got us all down the isle & had a shot waiting for us once we officially tied the knot! She also kept the guests engaged with our photo guest book and made sure to box our cupcakes for their favors. I do have to add that the night before our big day we had a last minute change to our guest list and I was able to text her details and all was taken care of. I'd advise you to stop looking around for planners/coordinators and BOOK DARCI! Darci, thank you so much for all you did to make our big day special. I've heard from several guests that our wedding was the smoothest they've ever attended and that's all due to you! You truly made our dream wedding come true.
