This is my first time leaving a review on Yelp. I've been using Yelp for many, many years, but I don't take the time to leave reviews. This experience today solidified my reason to leave a review. Today was the first time visiting Aloha Nails in Rea Farms. Nancy Chang was recommended. I made an appointment a few days ago for Friday afternoon at 4pm. I have never seen a nail salon so incredibly busy. I was 5-10 minutes early for the appointment. When I checked in, I was told that Nancy had an emergency and left earlier in the day. Diana, at the front was very polite and accommodating, she sat me quickly. She asked what I needed done. I told her a gel manicure and I'd like my little girls toe nails painted. I also told her I need to be out in 1 hour because I wasn't sure how they were going to handle me because the nail tech had left earlier. Wasn't sure if I was classified as a walk-in situation or what? Diana got a stool for my 5 year old to sit by me and said, 'we will get someone to paint her toe-nails.' My little one picked out her favorite color polish and eagerly awaited for her toes to be painted. Meanwhile, 1 lady roughed up my current gel polish, another lady wrapped my nails to soak and finally John began my gel manicure. I was about 20 minutes into the appointment. As we approached the 30 min mark, I asked John if he would paint my little girls toes when he finished my nails. He said 'yes.' As 55 minutes fast approached, John finished my gel nails. All appears to be a nice job with his workmanship . Let's hope the gel holds up as it usually does for me. He said, I'm sorry, we don't have time to do the child's toe-nails. My little girl was holding back tears. We walked to the front to pay. I told the checkout girl that I was not pleased this had happened to my little girl...within 1 hour, no one could spare 10 minutes to paint her toe nails. Not a pedicure, just paint the toe nails. The checkout girl was pleasant and seemed to care what I was saying. She gave me a reward/stamped card with 2 extra stampings. Still, I left bewildered, how could I have let this happen, holding and consoling a crying 5 year old little girl who was so ' heart-broken' ( as she told me as soon as she could form words). She waited an hour, with her polish in hand. Spinning on the stool, waiting in anticipation. Is this the end of the world, No ! Customer service isn't Aloha Nails strong suit. And the fact that at the end of the hour, told me they didn't have time. It was my 1st time trying Aloha nails & LAST. If you like a crowded and loud salon this is your place. If you like feeling like you are a herded animal in a factory, then this is your place. Their eye is on the dollar, painting toe nails for a child doesn't yield a large service fee. If I had an older daughter getting a more pricier service, then maybe she would have gotten service. What a shame to give such a disservice to my little girl. A few people are good but it is hit or miss if you don't find "your person". My toes and fingers have been cut more than once by different people. I told the manager and he said, "we make mistakes we have no one here that no mistakes". I completely understand mistakes, but being cut with clippers and an electric file more than a handful of times due to inexperience or not paying attention is unacceptable, in my opinion. I went to aloha 5 days ago before my trip. My middle nail broke on the trip so i went in today to get it fixed and to get the rest of my nails filed down a bit because they were too long. They filed the nails to my desired length and changed the shape of the nail from round to almond which i didn't want and never asked them to do. After i told her the shape was not what I wanted and they were round before she proceeded to make them pointer. Then she fixed my middle nail with the wrong color. After all of this they charged me $16 for "fixing the nail" and "changing the shape". I would not recommend this nail salon under any circumstances read more

I like how my nails turned out but the experience overall lends to the final rating. I came for a gel mani and regular pedi. I was able to get an appointment day of with the pedi happening at 1 and the mani happening at 1:30. The mani didn't start until 2, so by the time I left, it was 3. I did not expect to spend 2 hours at the nail salon, so that was annoying. The vibe is so chaotic in this place, not relaxing at all. I wanted to do different colors on my nails and was told it would be $8 extra. I really don't understand why some salons charge extra for different colors. It's such a rip-off. You're not doing anything different or more expensive. I couldn't get comfortable during my pedicure because the technician kept moving my chair way forward, and even though I kept moving back, he didn't get the hint. Also, their manicure chairs are also uncomfortable and could use pillows for back support. My foot massage was okay but the hand massage was terrible. With tip, I paid about $100, which didn't feel worth it to me. It's not a bad nail salon but I would only come here if I can't get in somewhere else. read more

This is a nice nail salon. There is plenty of parking in the shared lot with other stores. When you enter you sign in on the tablet and they give you a station. They offer a variety of colors and beads to choose from. They put wax paper down and wipe stations in between clients for the nails. The nail technician didn't speak to me at all despite attempts to get to know her name or say thank you. She did a good job on my nails where they didn't chip. It was completed in a good amount of time for a no chip. It was packed with tons of people for a Sunday afternoon but they had a good process. You pay at the front when you leave and they have a rewards system you can join. They sale some of the products they use on you. It's a nice place to try. read more

Poor customer service. Jenny was great. However, I asked for French tip and the base was too pink, not natural, more of a baby pink. So I said nevermind I will just get the same color on my toes since it was too late to change the dip. I was told I would have to pay for the additional service and that I should have said something about the color after she first dipped it. I've gotten my nails done all over the world and this is the first place I was told they don't put gel on top of dip powder. I've been to better places and have gotten more for what I paid for. A basic manicure is NOT included with the dip. Ruby did a great job, she was nice and pleasant and it should have been a quick fix, but the management there was rude and money hungry. Customer is always wrong and the other customers saw it. As a licensed cosmetologist in the state of NC, I saw some other sanitation concerns that I believe could be an issue as well. Heads up about my recent experience at Aloha Nails in Rea Farms. I took my daughter there about 10 days ago for us both to get mani-pedis for her 28th birthday. I have been going here for years, since they opened, and have in the past always had great experiences there. This time, however, (and we had made an appointment as I have been turned away as a walk-in for not having one in the past) we had a HORRIBLE experience. They have doubled their staff, and as a result are now doing mani-pedis all in the Pedi chairs, unless you request otherwise. To accommodate more people, yes, but ultimately to increase their profit margin. Quickest possible turnover of clients - moving as many customers as possible through as fast as possible. I kid you not, they were done with us in 30 minutes. Our experience was terrible. we arrived at our appointed time, and were rushed through the entire service. We both had regular pedis but gel manicures. The gel nail techs awkwardly put the nail machines on our laps and they kept tilting and falling and scraping the polish on our nails; my daughter's had to be completely redone on one hand because of this. My nail tech was rushing and put way too many coats on my nails, and did not extend the polish to the cuticle, which, makes the nails look awful, and peel easily, and require redoing much sooner than the usual 2 weeks. In addition, the chairs are dirty, the gel LED equipment is dirty, and it has lost all of what used to make this nail salon a nice relaxing place to get these services done. FOR THE ABOVE EXPERIENCE I was charged, with tip, $175.00! My manicure was the worst-looking manicure I have ever gotten and my daughter's PEELED OFF 7 DAYS LATER. I went in yesterday - just 10 days after the services were performed, to explain my discontent with the services we received. I asked for a refund of JUST the manicures and showed the manager/owner just how bad they looked. She said "oh they look fine" and said that it had been two weeks and they normally look like that after two weeks. IT HAS NOT BEEN TWO WEEKS - and I have gotten my nails done enough to know that no, that is not how they look after TEN DAYS, not at all. They rudely refused to refund me, offer a gift card in the amount we paid, or any other true satisfactory compensation for the terrible services and they said it was OUR FAULT for not saying something sooner (I was sick for the entire following week and could not make it in until yesterday TO SHOW THEM), AND ALSO they said it was my daughter's fault, for not coming in the day her nails peeled off (she couldn't, she was working) and that there was NOTHING they could do, other than redo our nails FOR HALF OFF THEIR REGULAR PRICE! This is a first-world problem I know, but as a service industry they absolutely could have done more and there has to be more recourse for them being unwilling to provide any refund (other than 1/2 off of services which I would absolutely never get done at that salon again). I DID contact my credit card company and filed a complaint and a dispute of the charges and plan on writing as many reviews as it takes to save even ONE person from having this terrible experience. Never mind the loss of $175, which could have been better spent, especially for my daughter's birthday! Sad the way they really were happy to collect that money from me as quickly as possible, and then seem actually genuinely MAD that I was dissatisfied and didn't even say we are sorry you were not happy with the service we provided you. Just that it was OUR FAULT for not saying something sooner... what?! It is clear from the other ONE STAR reviews on this place that my experience is VERY COMMON. I've been a loyal customer since they opened, but I hate to say they have gone significantly down hill. The last 5 times I have been I have felt rushed, neglected and received a poor manicure/pedicure. One time I went and the technician did not even help me put my shoes on or move the large plastic COVID barrier. She literally got up and walked away. It would have been funny if I wasn't 8 months pregnant and could barely hoist myself out of the pedicure chair. My sister and I went a few weeks ago and splurged on a $90 Hawaiian hot stone pedicure with paraffin wax. Even though we had appointments and arrived early, we waited 40+ minutes before anyone attended to us. If I am courteous enough to make an appointment you should be courteous enough to honor it. The pedicure included luke warm water and I never received a massage, even though the pedicure description included it. We left TWO hours later feeling dissatisfied. Their prices are not cheap, and I used to have no problem paying them. But now, I leave feeling frustrated and duped. They treat their customers like cattle at this point. Went to get a bikini/ half leg wax. Made an appointment they were late. OK not a big deal. Put me in a room with somebody who could only do an eyebrow wax, no big deal. After eyebrows went to another room with a different tech. She asked me to lay down on a plastic lounge chair in my underwear! Which I confirmed and she said yes. I asked her for a chair cover and she said I didn't need one. And then she saw how uncomfortable I was and got one. Gross. Then she painfully applied wax that was too cold to the outside of my leg. She realized and stopped, and besides, I told her inner thigh, not my outer hairless leg. Not sure what kind of wax they use but theirs was extremely painful. After completing the bikini area, the wax applicator bottle had warmed up and she did that. When I went to pay they charged me $35 for a bikini wax and $45 for inner thigh totaling $75. When I told her that didn't sound right the woman said it's $35 plus and I said I know it's plus but that is way too high. To which she kept saying it's 35+. Since when does half a leg not include the bikini. Does anybody go in there just to get the middle of their thigh waxed?? It was a horrible experience from the beginning to the middle to the end. I'd come in a day ago with the intention of trying a new place and having my entire manicure set removed and freshly redone, to which I was denied under the "suggestion" that I should just get a fill-in to save me time and money. Fine. Understandably, walk-ins are less of a priority to invest more time and effort into than regular appointments-- not to mention they were getting busier by the minute-- so I abided by the (very) strong insistence to just get a fill-in, despite that being exactly what I did not want. Keep in mind, I rarely ever get my nails done. I find it far too expensive and inconvenient to maintain considering how fast they grow out or how easily they break. Thus, if I get them done once, you can bet I'll leave that set on for up to over a month before getting a touch up. For these prices? They better last awhile. Which is precisely what I did with my last set: I got a full acrylic set sometime in December, and though they guaranteed a lot of compliments, I wasn't particularly a fan of how the last place did little to no nail prep on my natural nails before attaching tips and powder. Given how long this set has been on as well, I wanted to ensure the clean feeling of a fresh set with a different nail prep procedure that fit my liking. Consequently, that did not take place. The fill-in here was done very hastily and carelessly. Uneven, no nail prep to my broken nail (which was again, exactly why I wanted them completely redone regardless of cost or time--because I didn't appreciate gluing tips and powder on broken, jagged natural nails the way my visit to the last place did), and with barely an attempt to change the shape to what I requested and gave examples of many times before and during the session. The skin around every single one of my nails was cut up and are even now bleeding, the morning after my visit (yesterday) one of the nails had already broken cleanly off in half, and there are still noticeable gaps at the base of my nail bed, giving an already grown out appearance. To top it off, this "time and money saving" fill-in was STILL more expensive than the original full set I previously had done elsewhere. This is only the second time I've had my nails done within the past two months for the first time in over a year, and now I've got to walk around for weeks with an inexplicably awful set because I am not willing to blow another near 100 to get my hands screwed up again a DAY after getting them done. I came here with my friend for a pedicure - she see Belle and SWEARS by her. She insists Belle give the best pedicure. A woman named Ana gave my pedicure and she was PHENOMENAL. I'm no connoisseur but I get them at least twice a year, usually 3 times. Ana gave the best pedicure I've ever had! I did the CBD treatment with hot stones and an extra 10 minute massage. It was pure bliss - so relaxing and very thorough. She was a delight to talk with too! Belle was super nice - the 4 of us talked as a group. I'll stick with seeing Ana because she was excellent, but if I can't book with her for some reason, I'll definitely ask for Belle. She seems just as fantastic! Definitely go check out Aloha and ask for either of these ladies - you won't be disappointed! My feet feel great now! (COVID procedures here were great as well. They check your temperature, require everyone to sanitize, and wear masks. I want to start this review with saying the covid precautions are top notch, I felt extremely safe my whole visit. We made a reservation and were seated right away. I ordered a volcano pedicure and it was decadent. My tech took her time and I got lots of amazing treatments and massages. I also ordered a basic mani and I was not impressed with that service. It felt rushed and it has been peeling since. It was done while in the pedi chair so perhaps had I sat at the bar I would have gotten better results. The worst part is that some of their techs are not trained at all. I had a pedicure where someone cut me several times (I couldn't relax from constantly being hurt), not gentle at all! She cut the nails so short it burned and bled. Then did a horrible job painting, they couldn't even file nails straight.
