    CB Island Vacations

I was charged $1,702 for one night when it should have been $182. The condo was in poor condition--unsanitary, with bugs, a broken AC, and a strong mildew smell. Despite repeated attempts to contact the company, I received no help or alternative accommodations. Parking was also a nightmare, first-come, first-served of maybe 12 spots? In Waikiki area, this is virtually saying there's almost no parking. After just one night, they told me to vacate by 10 a.m. with no other options, we left due to my asthma. I got a partial refund but am still waiting for the rest. CB Island Vacations has been unresponsive and unhelpful. I cannot recommend them at all. Photos attached are were just some of the bugs we saw within an hour of getting into the room!

The images look amazing online. We have been here for 3 hrs waiting for our key to get into the room. They said they have a contractor in there working and will need to clean up after him. Not sure why they chose to bring in a construction contractor the day a party of 8 arrive for a week. Seems they could have repaired that yesterday when villa was empty? We shall see if this is a legit VRBO resource.....or not. Stay tuned yelpers! Welp.....check in came and went and we had to DEMAND to see the general manager....within minutes magical the room was ready. Horrible service for over 17k for a 5 day stay. This is ridiculous. AVOID THIS PLACE TO BUY OR STAY AT ALL COSTS!

My experience with CBIVacations has been excellent so far! #1302 Palms at Wailea is good as advertised! Highly recommend!

tl;dr - dishonest company. agreed to 'fix' things but made them worse repeatedly. Probably the worse vacation rental I have ever been to. Here's the list of issues that I reported to them (this is half of what I found): - The lamp shade in the living room is broken - Shower curtain rod has an end cap that is broken. - There's only one pool key instead of the listed 2 in the document. - I am unable to locate coffee filters (which I had expected to be stocked) - I am unable to locate garbage bags to take the garbage out. - There were only two small shampoo and conditioner bottles (a couple of ounces each) for the entire stay which is insufficient. - Many of the knives in the unit are rusted. - There's a portable A/C unit on the main floor, however, it is unable to keep the entire floor cold and the temperature on it doesn't fall below 90s which makes it difficult to sleep in the unit. They 'tried' to fix the issues but ended up breaking the AC even more (see photos). To make matters worse they clearly agreed to 50% discount and didn't honor it!!! (tried to give back 50% of nightly rate while agreeing to give 50% of TOTAL rate). Absolute scam artists!

Have been lucky enough to stay at Hale Pau Hana 5 times. Donna Bender Maui Calls helped us find and…read morebook our stay. Great helpful friendly staff, lovely grounds, incredible views, choose the exact unit you want to rent, family friendly yet quiet enough for seniors/couples. Best part is being able to walk out back to everything - restaurants, grocery store, shops, liquor store, etc. HPH is a gem.

My son and I were still in the pool on July 6th or 7th at ~8:20pm. I wasn't paying attention to the time. We were on vacation having a good time. Well I later realized the pool closes at 8pm and I genuinely hadn't noticed the posted sign. An employee (an elderly haole man) came outside and yelled "GET OUT OF THE POOL!!" to which I immediately replied, "OK I'm sorry sir, we are getting out, my apologies I wasn't aware of the time" and we IMMEDIATELY started leaving the pool. Despite that, he continued yelling "GET OUT OF THE POOL!!" I am not kidding he yelled at the top of his lungs at least 5x more times. To the point that I responded that we were already getting out and had apologized, and that repeating it was unnecessary. His response was, "Well, you guys don't know how to read the sign, so you clearly need to be told several times." Wow. I completely understand the pool has posted hours and have no issue being asked to leave once I realized it was closed. That part was my mistake. What was disappointing was the way my 11 year old son and I were treated after we immediately complied. There was no reason to repeatedly yell at us or make disrespectful comments. Guests deserve to be treated with courtesy, even when they've made an honest mistake. I hope management addresses how guests are spoken to, because this interaction left a very negative impression. As a suggestion, it might help to automatically turn the pool lights off (if this happened we would have left immediately) and/or disable the gate keypad when the pool closes. We honestly didn't realize the posted hours and those changes would make it much more obvious that the pool was closed while also preventing situations like this. Because of this my family and I will never stay here again. There are plenty of other options just as good or better on Maui. TLDR: The pool closes at 8pm! If in the pool after be prepared to get yelled at by the staff repeatedly with disrespectful comments made to you and your children.

We are now being forced to pursue legal endeavors, as they refused to refund our stay. When we arrived the sewage was piled up in the streets 10 feet high, sewage strewn all down the driveway. Additional flood warnings were active the morning we arrived and the place was not safe. All of their properties in the South Kehei region, are in what the state has labeled major flood zones. This area floods regularly, however during the Kona Low Storms of March 2026, local papers labeling this a once in 100 years flood, this company did not flag this as a hazardous event. They also refused to provide a letter that we could use to submit for insurance, even after telling us in writing that they would. After we cancelled and found a place on higher ground where my wife and unborn child would be safe. They still rented out the last day of our trip. So they technically still made more money off of the pain they put us though. This company does not care about your safety. You have been warned.

Subject: Formal Demand for Refund - Reservation March 17-25, 2026 To Whom It May Concern at Maui Rentals, I am writing to formally request a full refund of $4,505.11 in connection with my reservation for March 17-25, 2026, which I was compelled to cancel due to the severe weather conditions caused by the Kona storm affecting Maui during that period. I. BACKGROUN I purchased travel insurance through Red Sky Travel Insurance in connection with this reservation. When I filed a claim for my prepaid, nonrefundable costs, Red Sky denied coverage in part by citing representations from Maui Rentals that the rental unit was available and habitable. I am contacting you directly because I believe that characterization, even if technically accurate in a structural sense, does not reflect the totality of conditions on the ground -- and because I believe we can resolve this matter without further escalation. II. BASIS FOR REFUND The Kona storm caused documented, widespread disruption to Maui's infrastructure, transportation systems, and public safety during the exact dates of my reservation. Travel to and use of the destination was not reasonable or practicable for any prudent traveler during this period, regardless of whether a mandatory evacuation order was formally issued. I sustained a verified financial loss of $4,505.11 in prepaid, nonrefundable expenses. I am not seeking anything beyond what I paid. I am not alleging bad faith on the part of Maui Rentals. I am asking that you review the circumstances and extend a good-faith refund consistent with the extraordinary nature of this weather event and the reasonable expectations of your guests. III. REQUESTED RELIEF AND TIMELINE I respectfully request a full refund of $4,505.11 within ten (10) business days of receipt of this letter. If this matter cannot be resolved directly, I will have no choice but to pursue all available remedies. I am hopeful that Maui Rentals shares that preference.
