The owners are always so friendly and the prices keep me coming back as well since everything on Maui, especially Mexican food can now be $17-20 for a plate sadly. Their tacos are delicious as well and my go to is their Al Pastor & Carne Asada. Honestly a great taco to me can just have the simplicity of Cilantro and Onion. Not to mention adding their homemade salsas! I could taste the slight char of the tomatillos and peppers they use in the salsa which made every bite so scrumptious. The green salsa was mild and red was hot but for my taste, it was a perfect medium. Don't forget to wash it down with a Jarrito! Lupitas up in the Makawao food truck was one of those angel choir singing moments, "aaaaaaaaaa!* The latina taking the order was that angel. Think young Salma Hayek. Instantly looking at the menu, you knew it was more authentic than normal places that sell just burritos and tacos. Pambazzo, tinga, etc... Knowing I could pick just one thing, I genuinely was stressing out over which. Ultimately, I went with the quesabirria tacos as that is one dish I use as a barometer for good Mexican. Usually it's Al pastor. The tacos were pretty stellar, and presentation was thoughtful and pretty. The three tacos weren't super big looking, but they were so stuffed with meat and cheese that they were beyond filling. If I am going to feel fat, I like to say to myself, "worth it!" My gf got a pizza from next door, but was regretting the choice once she had a few bites of my quesabirria. We went at dusk, so the night was cool and no horrible food truck flies that always seem to ruin the experience. I can't wait to go back and start trying other menu items.
