Aloha Foodies! Went to Chabelitas after eating many meals at their sister truck, Poblanas. I figured that since the truck owner's recipes are shared with Chabelita's, the food would mostly look be great too! After checking Chabelita's menu, I noticed that they had an expanded menu compared to Poblanas. I had the Chile Relleno plate that included a large, floured, cheese-stuffed Chile, Mexican rice and pinto beans. Delicious! Finished the meal off with Churros. Four pieces were included including both chocolate AND caramel dipping sauces. A little harder texture than expected but the flavor was good! The ambiance was nice, cool with background Mexican musica and the service was great! It's hidden in the Wailuku Industrial park but worth searching for. Enjoy! read more

Legit Mexican food on Maui -- worth the stop! I'm from a neighboring island (Oʻahu), and honestly, great Mexican food options are few and far between. While visiting Maui for the day, we decided to give Chabelita's a try -- and I'm so glad we didn't skip it. The chicken enchiladas with green sauce were absolutely delicious -- full of flavor and perfectly seasoned. We also tried a taco, and again, the meat was spot on: juicy, well-seasoned, and cooked just right. We ordered the guacamole too, and while it was tasty, it was very basic and the portion was on the small side for the price -- a teeny tiny bowl that disappeared way too fast! Overall, though, the food was amazing, the service was friendly, and I'd definitely come back next time I'm on Maui. Finally, real Mexican food on Maui! We've been needing legit Mexican food on the island, and it's finally here. This place absolutely delivers. I had the carne asada taco plate -- everything was fire. The beans were so good I could've eaten a whole bowl of just those, and you can tell they make the tortillas fresh. My mom got the shrimp cocktail and it was so fresh, tangy, and flavorful -- perfectly chilled and loaded with shrimp and all the good stuff. Apparently, the owner's sister runs the food truck outside Lowe's, which totally makes sense because everything tastes homemade with love. My dad actually found this spot on Yelp when he was visiting a few days ago and tried the fajitas said they were next-level and had to come back. I also grabbed a horchata, and it was chef's kiss. The space is super cute too, it's a sit-down spot, family-run, and has that warm, welcoming vibe that makes you want to come back again and again. Support local, eat amazing food, and thank me later. Went in around 10:30am, but it was still breakfast for them. The server was nice and told us they can do our lunch order. We were thankful for that accommodation. Inside is very clean, nicely decorated, and spacious. Just be careful with the stairs that lead you up to the restaurant, it's uneven and can cause you to trip. We got the chimichanga plate and enchilada plate. They were pretty good, just wish it had a little more flavor to them besides spicy. I wish the beans were cooked a little more too. Finished the entire plate and was full. Would go back to try other items as they have a large menu. read more

I got a veggie burrito for lunch. There was no one at the restaurant. My order came up in about 5 minutes but the bag was a little light. I payed $19.02 for an $8 burrito. It didn't have most of the ingredients listed, just a tiny dab of guac in the middle of the burrito, rice, beans, and some salsa on the side. I tried the nachos on a previous trip, nice portion but mostly chips. Best Mexican food on Maui. I've lived here for three years and I've been to all the Mexican spot, more than once. Chabelita's serves the freshest, most authentic, most savory Mexican cuisine of them all. Fresh corn tortillas, delicious fragrant salsas, real Mexican "queso fresco" cheese (no grated yellow cheddar here), freshly chopped cilantro and onion garnish...it feels like a home cooked meal, not a pre-heated mess covered in oil like we gringos have become accustomed to elsewhere. Service is very friendly with a smile and the space is bright and very clean. Lots of parking. But no alcohol. If you need booze there's a neighborhood bar just downstairs or you can bring your own in (I asked). Highly recommended!!! read more
