Excellent Service, Food is Amazing, Ambiance is perfect for a little lunch break getaway!

For a long time, this has been my favorite (and secret) Mexican spot for the BEST Mexican food. I used to work up the road and I'd always treat myself for lunch here! You know a place is legit when you gotta pay it in cash. The owners are always so friendly and the prices keep me coming back as well since everything on Maui, especially Mexican food can now be $17-20 for a plate sadly. I'm so glad they brought their Tamales back so I had to order that. I always order the Preparado because they add all the fixings, lettuce, tomato, lots of cilantro and onion and the crema. Their tacos are delicious as well and my go to is their Al Pastor & Carne Asada. Honestly a great taco to me can just have the simplicity of Cilantro and Onion. Not to mention adding their homemade salsas! I could taste the slight char of the tomatillos and peppers they use in the salsa which made every bite so scrumptious. The green salsa was mild and red was hot but for my taste, it was a perfect medium. Don't forget to wash it down with a Jarrito! They used to sell Mexican products but I can see they simplified to food and drink which in my opinion is top notch, food and cost wise. That's what always keeps me coming back! read more

I ordered a fish burrito and it was great! The fish isn't cubes of overly cooked dried fish as they smash it into the burrito. After eating it you don't feel gross. It's also a filling burrito. I ordered the hot salsa but it was not hot at all. The service is great and the owners were very kind and friendly. I'm surprised I was the only one in there ordering during lunch because the food here is awesome! The space isn't very big but it is nice and clean and can hold maybe a little over 10 seats. Hidden jem in Kihei one of the best taco spots on Maui. I have been coming here for years. The food is fresh authentic and delicious. The family that owns this place is so sweet and just good people. Their shrimp ceviche is great and we get a cheese casedia for a great lunch combo. The service is also great and they are good people.

The service was concerning. No one came to the front to take the order for around 5 minutes. The employee didn't seem to want to have customers, answer questions about their menu or even provide service. It was like they were unhappy to have customers. Once the two tacos arrived, they disappeared in the back to the sound of a television or video playing. The tacos were good. read more

I finally decided to try this place as I remember seeing yelper Karen G check in here on multiple occasions. Walked in & was quickly greeted, I knew this was gonna be good. Decided to go with one fish & one chicharron taco. I was then told that it just be a few minutes & if I wanted salsa to put on them, there was an area off to the side. Guess she could tell this was my first time. Didnt wait long & they were ready. Got home, opened them up & there was no doubt that there were onions in there. Those fumes were fuming. The fish one came with some sort of white sauce which complemented it well. The chicharron tasted just as expected however in a softer form. Not sure if they were crunchy to start & just from the drive home they became soft. Very tasty,but this one came with no sauce. The salsa was more on the liquid side, I do like a little chunkier type when it's going on tacos, but this one was still good. Yummy with a good price point, I will be back to try other stuff as I have seen lots of other yelpers mentioning the ceviche. read more

Saw excellent reviews so finally got to try. Glad I did. Got the chicharon taco and a carnitas taco. Upon ordering lady at the counter asked if red sauce was ok? Normally prepared with verde sauce. Well the red sauce was awesome, idk how it is with the green but but I loved it with the red. Chicharon was soft and flavorful. Carnitas was tender, could have used a little more salt but that is to my taste. Both tacos were served with the perfect amount of queso tomatoes onions and cilantro where none of them overpowered the food. Simple place with friendly staff, decent prices and excellent food. Highly recommend and definitely earned a repeat customer On my second visit, I got the tamal preparado and a taco carnita. Taco was as good as the last time. The tamal was moist, not dry like how tamales can so often be, and flavorful. So delicious. This is going to be my go to dish when I come here read more

Dropped in here for a quick lunch while in the area and was happy to have a good meal in a nice clean spot. I beat the lunchtime crowd and was greeted by the friendly hostess and ordered a couple of items which came out really quickly. Taco was good, but the tamale preparado was awesome. I would highly recommend people coming in to enjoy the authenticity of Mexicano food if your looking for it. My brother and I come here almost ever other day to enjoy the food. This place is amazing!, yes it is a hole in the wall, but as authentic Mexican food you could find. The ceviche is breathtaking, I had the tostada , a mountain of ceviche with there signature hot sauce that's already on the table , the flavor just makes you put the food down and savor it with a hum of mmmm mmm! The lengua tacos are perfectly cooked the tacos al pastor is spicy but it supposed to be. The torta is made with the perfect bread, crunchy on the outside soft on the inside. So glad I saw the sign for this new place. I walked in and asked the owner, "How long have you been open?" He replied, "8 years."LOL. He said he just had a new window sign painted and I'm glad he did. Based on previous comments I ordered the shrimp and AL Pastor tacos. I also ordered the shrimp ceviche. Everything was good. The al pastor was flavorful, tender and not fatty. Although I like fatty pork, this was really good. The fish Taco was the best I've had. I may not be from Mexico or California, but I know fish, and this was 5 stars for sure. The ceviche was good. It was probably better than good but I really only know my wife's ceviche which is probably not authentic. No avocados in it but it was good. For those of you that aren't onion fans, beware.
