Mitra cut and cleaned me up just fine. I'm an older man with VERY long hair and wasn't sure what I wanted to do with it. I haven't had a cut for about a year and the back length looked a mess. Mitra "calmed me" by taking off about 8 inches in back and gave the back of my neck the cleanup it needed. It was a pleasent experience going there and I will continue to see her. How did I know know this salon was there?!! I wish I could give more than 5 stars. My hair has a mind of its own and I can never style it at home to look as good as they do at the salon. I told the owner, Thierry, what I had in mind and he knew right away what I was looking for. His technique of "seamless layers" is unlike anything I have ever seen. And it works!!! I could easily style it myself and it is smooth and bouncy and light and fun. And on top of this, everybody at the salon is very friendly and personable. Let me start off first by saying, I have one of the severest forms of trust issues when it comes to letting someone touch and handle my hair. A bad color job, haircuts that promise "a little" but end up becoming a lot, and a perm that basically shredded my fine, silky black hair into barely tameable straw. I was just scheduled for a haircut. I was greeted immediately by a friendly smile from the hostess and sat in the waiting area with a refreshing fruit infused water, coffee machine, some snacks & candy. The salon is very modern and chic. My stylist, Danielle came to greet me and immediately started looking at my hair, assessing the consistency and noticing all of my problems right off the bat and asked not only what I wanted, but what she could do to help. She gave off a very confident aura so I asked her for her advice on what she should do. The shampoo and conditioning alone was amazing. The girl was very careful and gentle, and even gave me very long head massage with some aromatherapy, I was about to fall asleep then and there. Danielle was a delight, she was very knowledgable and clearly cares a great deal about her clients. FINALLY!! I don't even know where to begin with the praises for this place! I had my hair cut by Thierry, who is the owner. He has big city skillz! He used texturizing techniques that I've only ever seen used in New York or LA and gave me one of the best haircuts I've ever had. And it was $65! And he's a genuinely lovely guy! This salon is amazing! I needed expert help because my hair was damaged from too much highlighting at another salon. I had been trying to lighten my color to a silvery color to match my roots over the past several months, but ended up with a yellowish blonde. Thierry and Jazmen took time to talk with me and discuss the options to correct the color. They didn't have the exact color I wanted in stock, so they special-ordered it and set up another appointment a few days later. The final outcome looks amazing and is exactly what I hoped for. I'm so glad I found this place. Mitra did a wonderful job on my hair! I spent like $200 last summer on three separate haircuts trying to fix work by shitty stylists. So I grew my hair out for 10 months and became very wary of getting it cut. I like the way the salon is decorated and they have a big assortment of treats. read more

I really wanted to give this salon 5 stars but sadly it was a disappointment. I had an appointment for highlights with Thierry, showed him a picture of what I wanted and joked about how sometimes the stylist can't replicate that exact look. He laughed and said why not? No one should leave the salon unhappy. Long story short, I mulled over my color for a day (might I add that there was a good 1/4-1/2 an inch of root showing) and decided I wanted it more blonde. I called and was told I could come in the next day at 530. I came in but felt like the appointment was rushed. It was a Friday evening and I was the last client there. All said and done I left and got home and was shocked to see that the "blonde" was actually yellow and my roots were still showing. While I was still in the salon the lights were dark so it looked ok while I was there, however in bright light it looked awful. In hindsight, the picture that I originally showed Thierry was for a balayage look, but I'm no expert. I wish he would have consulted with me and educated me on why the balayage look was more of what I was going for instead of choppy, obvious highlight look. read more

I went to get my hair done for a friend's wedding. I didn't get a cut - just styling - so I can't comment on how they are with cutting hair, which I hear is amazing. I plan on maybe coming back to experience the "amazingness" of it all. It's true that it was a little hard to make an appointment. I think I called 3 times and no one picked up the phone. But I think perhaps they were busy so if you're persistent and want a good salon place, keep trying =). I actually lucked out and found a website that would book the salon for me. Luckily, I was able to get the time I wanted. Thierry was very nice and welcoming and you can tell the man clearly loves his job. That's always a plus. Other customers and the people that worked there also seemed to enjoy being there which is of course a great sign! I was a little nervous since my hair is really thick and it's hard to be put into an updo. But Thierry did his thing and was finished in no time with a "messy" updo that I wanted. I did show him a picture of how I wanted it and what he did was not what was in the picture, but since the hair still looked nice, I went with it. He was very quick and was able to put my hair into that updo in no time. Overall, really good. Hope to come back here soon for that amazing cut that everyone is raving about =)! read more

This salon is in a great location on main st but they are only open a few days a week. I went to Thierry for a hair cut and the appointment felt very rushed and he was working on multiple people at the same time. I brought in a picture and he said he could match it but the end result was not even close. He loved his cut but he didn't seem to care if I liked it. I wish he could make an attempt to give me the result I was looking for and try to please the client. He basically does what he wants and tells you how amazing of a cut it is. I have straight long hair, and I wanted a simple cut with angles at front and very long layers in the back. What I ended up with was an uneven mushroom cap on a pretty long hair. Precision cuts are important to me, and I made sure to emphasize that and showed a picture of what I wanted the cut to look like. The styling right after the cut made it look similar to a picture, but when I washed my hair, I had fly outs everywhere and shockingly uneven layers all over my head. The angles in front were also very uneven. I can attribute it to the fact that I asked to thin my hair, but it was incredibly visible from the top. You'd ask if I contacted the salon in attempts to rectify the situation - unfortunately I don't see myself trusting the follow up to be successful based on the overall cut. Additionally, I had a cut on Friday, and discovered problem on Saturday, and the salon is closed Sun-Tue. I ended up cutting 3 inches with my regular stylist to even out the super short mushroom cap, and vowed to never experiment with new salons again. read more

I've gone to terry for about 2-3 years now and let me say, I trust terry more than anyone with my hair. I used to have really damaged bleached ugly green hair and to my surprise terry was the only person I went to that was able to fix me up and make me look normal again. I followed Danielle here from her previous salon, and didn't much care what the place was like as long as she was there. Well, it's wonderful. The shampoo was like a fabulous aromatherapy zen head massage - totally not something I expected but it was amazing. Danielle is fabulous as ever. She's great because she's got this impressive flexibility. She does a beautiful job with my hair which is straight, fine, and lifeless AND is the first person my sister with crazy curly hair has ever liked. In fact, my sister's solution to being unable to find someone who could make her hair look good was to get it cut once every few YEARS. I finally convinced her to go to Danielle and she's been twice in 6 months. And now my mother is converting... Do yourself a favor. Give Danielle a try. Thierry cut my hair this past winter and it was great. I brought pictures to show him what I wanted and he was happy to go by them. He does lots of layers but they are very subtle and blend together. My hair was super long when I went and we took about 6 inches off. It looked much smoother after and looked shapely rather than the big one length mass it used to be. The shampoo process was probably the best I've had at any salon I've been to before and felt very luxurious. They use a minty product selection that tingles on your scalp and massage it in for a few minutes. I appreciated that they ran on time and did not try to push products on me at the end. read more

No stars. The place is cold and the music the pipe in is annoying. If they are trying for Zen they fall short. They never answer the phone which makes making appointment impossible and they do not send reminders like most salons send you. The owners are forever closing the salon to take vacations which makes no sense when your stylist are still available to work. That is poor customer service. But the number on reason that caused me to stop going was finding out that they were taping (video and audio) the salon. Video camara's I can understand but audio??? I believe that is illegal. The only reason I went was to follow my stylist that I have been going to for years. She has since left but they are still calling me and bothering me. The salon is only as good as the stylist. There is a reason why I travel from Herndon to see Thierry. I found Thierry a few years ago and i have to say, he is a genius with scissors. I have a head full of wavy, thick hair. He cuts it in such a way that I don't have to come back for at least 3-4 months. He understands when I say that I don't want the Christmas tree look. Not only do I come out of the salon with beautifully styled hair, but I'm super relaxed from the wonderful scalp massage that Carlos gives.
