My husband and my kids have their normal hair cut in a barber shop close to our house, last time we being there and the waiting time was one hour or more, so we decide to find a different one, requesting to the map locator on our cellphones for the next near hair salon closer to us and it takes us to Illusions Hair Studio, being in this mall thousand of times and no idea there was this hair studio there, you needs to look very careful to find the hair studio there, they're being located in this place since 17th years ago, (as the nice hair shampoo lady tell us). My husband was taken care by one of the owners Siria who approach us with a nice, big, beautiful and very sincere smile, I was delighted seeing her cutting my husband hair, so professional, like sculpting an art master piece, and we (three or us) having a delicious conversation about her kids, our kids and whole family history, finally my husband end with the best hair cut ever I seeing and went out of the salon super relaxed after the nice conversation with Siria, I know this is not a regular hair cut place with chip price, you probably will paid 3 times the price of a regular men hair cut, but my husband have a great hair cut for almost a month or more even with his long hair he still looks neat and very presentable. After moving to MoCo I spent about 6 months looking for someone to do my hair. I went through three different barbers/salons in the area and never returned. I called Illusions and the staff helped pair me with my stylist Luis. As a male, I was looking for something contemporary yet professional and easy to manage. I've been coming back for a year now and I've never left disappointed or found myself reaching for a hat and thinking I'm going to need to find a new place to go in a few weeks. Just got my balayage and cut with Jovanna and I am so in love!! I knew I was going to be impressed when she spent so much time to really understand my vision and talk out the next steps instead of just rushing to get started. I came to her with really brassy ends from my balayage over a year ago and she managed to get those orange hues out and get me to the chocolatey caramely brown I was looking for. She also did a fantastic job at making a subtle and natural color transition instead of just throwing in large steaks of highlights in the front like others tend to do. I was also in a bit of a time crunch once we got to the cut/blowdry and she managed to work her fashion week skills and get me to where I needed to be right on time without compromising the look! I have been going to Pat at Illusions for about 9 years (since I was 14!) for cuts, highlights & color, and she always does an amazing job! She did my hair for 2 HS proms and my wedding, and I loved it each time. She listens to what I want, makes thoughtful suggestions, and has the client's needs and wants at heart. I constantly get compliments on my hair thanks to Pat! She is especially talented at natural but noticeable highlights and she never cuts too much off for a trim, either -- which is a biggie for me as a bleach blonde trying to grow my hair out! I have been having my hair done at Illusions for at least 30 years. I first found the salon in Lakeforest Mall but it was under a different name back then. Grace Campanaro cut my hair and I was thrilled. I have naturally curly, very frizzy hair and it was impossible for me to keep it in a nice style. Grace introduced me to having my hair relaxed and that just changed my world of only being able to keep my hair in a pony tail. I loved how my hair looked without crazy curls and frizz everywhere and it would stay smooth even in the summer. I hope to continue having Grace work miracles with my hair as long as possible. What a hidden GEM! After many years living in MoCo, I finally can say that I found my hair salon. Being latina (PR), I am very, very particular with the way my hair is handled, especially the way is blow dry. I have long straight hair, and every time I go into a salon I end up with freezy hair because is not properly styled. Until now I had never found a place where they would treat my hair the way I was used to. Seems like nowadays stylists rely only in the use of a flat iron to obtain a polish result. In Illusions not only I was able to promptly schedule an appointment with Luis (based on previous reviews) for color, but I also had the BEST blowout ever (by Kim) since moving to the US. I wanted to find a salon that had my skin product near by. This was it. Everyone was so nice. Since I love the Aveda sensitive line so much, they asked that I write a review on yelp. I started using the product longer than I originally thought, since 2000. I had problems with acne my whole life. I started seeing a noticeable difference in my skin in 2 weeks. I cannot live without this produce and they sell it at Illusions Hair Studio. One more thing... they also sell jewelry brought back from Italy. They're beautiful. You have to go see! I recently moved closer to the city, however, I still make the hour trek to see Attilio for my colors and cuts. He is very personable, always gives a consultation before getting started, and I know he has my hairs best interest in mind. When I've brought in inspiration pictures (which I often tend to do) he always delivers better than expected!! He really knows his stuff. Best part is that I always leave feeling beautiful! I've grown up frequenting Hair Illusions--having gone there through high school and now as an adult--and don't have a single complaint. Kim is my go-to and she always goes above and beyond my expectations, whether it's my usual cut, styling for an event, or an eyebrow wax. It's always intimidating to try a new place/stylist but I think I have found a home! I randomly called, got a quick appointment, and met Luis, the new love of my hair life! He was super nice, patient with my presentation of pictures, friendly yet focused on his job, and demonstrated his artistic skills diligently and professionally. Despite its location in the old Montgomery Village shopping center, the salon is fresh looking and clean; the receptionist was lovely, and prices are fair-much more reasonable than my old favorite place in Bethesda. Love this family run salon! The owner, Grace, has been styling my hair for 5 years and is an amazing stylist and colorist. Her daughter, Silia, has done my hair a few times and is equally talented. My co-worker goes to her son, Attilio, who also does great work. I am a natural auburn and reluctantly started coloring my hair a little over a year ago but Grace did such a great job matching my natural color and walking me through the process that I wished I had done it sooner. He is very professional, works amazing with scissors and does a beautiful job with color. He listens to you but also gives ideas of what would look good on you. I also find that the prices are affordable and not exorbitant like in many of the salons I visited previously. I have been coming to this Salon for over 2 years and my Stylist was Nu. She was the sweetest lady and knew just how to cut my hair and blow dry it right. Sadly she moved away and the end of the year. I was reluctant at first to try anyone else because a Woman is faithful to her Stylist. She referred me to her Co worker Kim. I had a great experience! I went to Jovanna for a sleek ponytail for my birthday party and she exceeded my expectations. The ponytail lasted over a week and not a hair was out of place. The appointment was quick and I felt so comfortable in the salon. Silia is a life saver!! My thirteen year old daughter had her hair done by another stylist at another salon, which turned out to be terrible for her. She was miserable! Silia said, "come sit in the chair and we'll see what we can do." Within 15 seconds, Silia said, "No problem, I can fix it!" My daughter was so thrilled and she looked so beautiful!
