The store was very cute, with a large stuffed llama near the check-out desk. The restaurant is chipotle-style. You choose a cut and amount of roast chicken. and then go down the line and pick out your sides and other goodies. For the price, you get a good portion. I got a half-chicken meal, dark meat only, with beans and French fries, as well as a chicha morada beverage. Their sauces are off to the side and self-serve, which I love. The roast chicken was delicious, so well-seasoned and tender. Honestly I did not need the sauce to eat it. The beans were smoky and I appreciate the fact that it was portioned separately to prevent the fries from getting soggy. The fries were not that fresh, and they had the skins on. I would not get these next time. The sauces were good but not mind-blowing. The green sauce in particular was sharp and salty but not flavorful. The orange sauce tasted mostly like mayo. However, again, since all the food was well-seasoned, I didn't really need the sauces. Alpaca is a great, quick, and healthy option for tasty Peruvian food. Came to this Alpaca a few days back and enjoyed my meal. I got the quarter chicken (dark) with rice and beans on the side, per usual. The chicken was moist and delicious, and the rice and beans were solid. With some green sauce on the side, you can't go wrong! My family joined me for this outing and also really enjoyed their food. The only negative to this experience was that the AC dripped condensation on me from above :) Not super pleasant so I'll definitely pick a different table next time. Tasty consistent Peruvian chicken chain. This location is near plenty of shopping and other competitors for your dining dollars. While the location is across the main road, there's plenty of parking out front and it does provide a mental breather from the hustle and bustle of Target and other places nearby. I ordered a half chicken with black beans and a side salad for lunch with a chi cha morado to wash it down. The chicken is succulent and has a beautiful wood fired flavor. The spices are lovely and compliments the chicken very well. They chop it into white and dark. Sometimes the white meat can be dry in other establishments, but not here. The beans are rich and hearty. The salad is fresh and provides a nice healthy crunch comparison to the roast meat. While you do get a choice of cilantro or other dressing, I usually go for the spicy green sauce as my topper. Btw that green sauce is addictive. I considered attending an addiction recovery forum when I don't get my fix. It does have a nice kick, but that gets tempered with the chicha morado. The purple corn based drink with warm spices like cinnamon and some additional sweetness. It's a nice rotation to a soda. As a long standing business of the community, I'm glad to see that Alpaca has continued to find success and serve the same high quality food as they did when I first visited their establishment many years ago. Alpaca specializes in Peruvian charcoal chicken, which is the Peruvian version of the rotisserie chicken. When I think of rotisserie chicken, I think of the chickens you buy from your local grocery, the classic inexpensive, comfort meal. Alpaca takes this staple item and elevates it with the charcoal chicken. The big difference comes from the outer skin of the chicken, it is rubbed with various peppers and spices to give the skin some extra lift and bold flavors. It's got a bit of spice, it's smoky and the skin itself gets crispy from the cooking process. It is delicious. The chicken inside comes out drier than a rotisserie, but I typically dip it in one of their various sauces and it not only gives it moisture, but extra flavor complexity. Alpaca has some other wonderful items besides their chicken. Their arroz chaufa is my favorite item there, which is their chicken fried rice. The portion size is big and the flavor is always on point. Their sides rock as well. The fried yucca is always golden and crispy, but not overcooked. It's got a soft and warm interior and just salty enough to be enjoyable. The plantains are sweet and delicious. Alpaca has designed a winning formula that has allowed them to stay in business for so long. By continuing to provide delicious and affordable food, they have certainly won me over. I had lunch on a Sunday afternoon and I got a half chicken with Yuca fries and green beans. The chicken came separated in white meat and dark meat. Truthfully the chicken size is not that large, you can get a bigger one at Costco. But the meat was juicy, and the skin was pretty crispy. The yellow and green sauces are available in dispensers by the beverage stations, which is nice since you can get as much of those as you'd like. The Yuca fries took a little longer to come, as the cooks were preparing a fresh batch. The green beans were a little bit overcooked, too mushy for my taste. I would prefer they be just a little al dente. But the garlicky sauce on top was really enjoyable. The total cost was around $20 with the beverage. A little stiff, but that's about what you pay to eat out at a fast casual joint now. I like that they have different specials available on certain days of the week, such as tacos and salads. The staff was friendly and we were lucky to get there before peak dinner time so were quickly through the line cos we were definitely ready to eat!! Their chicken is just so delicious!! Also wonderfully seasoned and succulent on the inside. For my sides I had corn (a huge portion) plantains which were plentiful. Had to bring both home as there was so much. I would get this again, but next time will probably get the chicken that comes with 2 sides. Drinks are self serve and there is brewed tea which was good. Tables needed to be wiped and I did not see anyone cleaning tables the whole time I was there. Luckily, there are napkins on the table, so I did my own cleaning. I ordered the 1/4 white meat chicken with maduros and green beans. I have loved all in the past. I had to wait 5 minutes for the chicken to come out. No problem. It is fresh. When I got it home, the chicken was over cooked and the green beans were mushy. The maduros weren't fully cooked. I had popped the top off so this wouldn't happen. I was very sad. On a plus side, they stopped using individual styrofoam containers. It's recyclable and even reusable. Now I wish they would move to paper. And they asked if I wanted plastic ware. Love it. So for the record Alpaca has the best Peruvian chicken and sides. I have gotten the family portion as well as the 1/4 white and 2 sides. Both are ample portions and a good value for the money. The chicken is incredibly moist and flavorable. The sides are all delicious, but my routine go tos are the Plantains and the Yucca Fries. And don't for get to get the sauces. I waited about 15 minutes after I got there. A gentleman brought out my food and I was on my way. My food smelled delicious. I got back to my room and got ready to eat. My order was wrong. (Yes, I should've checked before I left the restaurant). My order was missing the green beans. The chicken was sooooo juicy. I got the 1/2 chicken mixed. The skin was so flavorful and I don't usually eat chicken skin. The corn was great. The coleslaw was very creamy and had a hint of sweetness to it. I really enjoyed this meal.
