We have ordered take out from here numerous times when we want convenience since the food is decent. However this last take out was just awful. One they got our order wrong we asked for flour tortilla not honey wheat. Look at the tiny portion of rice and beans they gave. My tacos were lathered with brown avocado. The nachos were very disappointing I wouldn't even call what we had nachos. Stale tortilla chips. Can see photos of how awful the food even looks. Won't be coming back here and will just make the extra drive for better quality food and service. I did call to speak to the manager and was told they weren't available. Updated Review. February 24, 2026. The portions have really changed for the worst. A parrillada dish is now half of what it used to be. As a family of four, we'd order the full size and eat comfortably. Now, two can only eat. The parrillada for one, is literally just for one, but before 2 of us would eat and we'd still bring some home. Prices of skyrocketed, understanding with the economy we're in. read more

I left this restaurant overly stuffed! The restaurant was beautifully decorated, it definitely had a "Cancun, Mexico feel" like you are at a party. The music was loud but you could still hear the people at your table talking which was a plus. The service was very different. Instead of have just 1 waiter we had 5 of them which was unique, we never had to wait for someone to come to us which was awesome. The food was amazing. It didn't look like a lot of food at first but when we got done eating, our stomachs were tight! We also had dessert which was really good. I will definitely be coming back again! read more

When you think of a Mexican chain, you probably think of a restaurant where you order one of those big piping hot combination platters with the world's largest plate, loaded with some mix of burritos, enchiladas, tacos, etc. The food itself is average, the service is quick and the portions are large, it is just alright but enjoyable. Mi Cancun is not your ordinary Mexican chain restaurant. The atmosphere is lively, service is attentive, decor is cozy and the food is elevated. They start you off with their unlimited chips and salsa. I've had bad chips quite a few times in recent memory at Mexican restaurants, but these are enjoyable. I blink and sudden I am getting a refill. The waiters do a great job going around, making sure you are taken care of. Others push a guacamole cart as a potential appetizer. The service here is good and friendly! There are so many different options at Mi Cancun, they have a huge menu. They have the aforementioned combination platters, but you can also order grilled meats, seafoods, individual tacos and other specialties. I'm a pretty big ACP (arroz con pollo) guy and Mi Cancun puts a neat twist on theirs. Instead of old overcooked rice and overly thick cheese, their ACP is always really fresh with smaller strips of delicious and seasoned chicken, warm cheese and even spicy peppers. The peppers add good flavor and kick, also some vegetables! Every other item I've had here is pretty great as well. They are a Mexican restaurant that has a designated vegetarian section, so I've had some of those and they're good alternatives! It is not just, "let's cram as much frozen veggies into a tortilla." Their diablo shrimp are also good and they recently added beef tongue (lengua) tortas to the menu. This might be my new favorite item, the lengua is so tender and flavorful. Mi Cancun is one of the few places in the area that is busy every night, and for good reason! The food is great and you are taken care of when you're there. This Morrisville location I believe is the original, and they do a fantastic job at upholding this chain's reputation. read more

Mi Cancun is a hopping Mexican themed restaurant in the Raleigh Durham area. It is a lively atmosphere, and the servers are very friendly! Immediately upon sitting down you gave fresh chips and salsa, and a moment later the "guac doc" is at your table to make tableside guacamole! He absolutely rocks it and the service is very solid - mix in what you like and make it as spicy as you want! The menu is deep with entrees themed in the style of the Yucatán peninsula, and they do it right! Definitely recommend Mi Cancun - prices are very reasonable and the servings are large! read more

Gosh, Mi Cancun is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area! They have multiple locations, and I usually go to the Grace Park location, but I've been to a few others as well, and the food and service are always super consistent. Once you place your order, the food comes out within minutes, hot and fresh every time. The locations I've been to are spacious, and I love the fun theme of each restaurant. I arrived at 8:40pm on a Friday evening just to have a drink or two following dinner. The parking lot was jam packed! There are multiple establishments in the area. Upon walking up, I could tell this place was a vibe. My date has been here multiple times and this is one of their favorite spots. It started raining so we opted to sit inside. Outdoor seating area gives beach and fun vibes, which I'm sure is great during warm weather. Inside, they have a presentation table with drink and food options. We sat at the bar. We were given a drink menu with many options along with chips and salsa. One interesting thing I saw on the drink menu was a 10 shot tequila shot! Price varies on what tequila you choose. I can't remember what tequila the bartender told me but he said it would be $140, wow! I ordered a fresh organic blueberry margarita and date ordered a mango margarita. The margarita was strong and delicious, omg. It was $18 and worth every drop! It tasted like two drinks in one and I tasted the fresh blueberry pieces. The daily special for Friday was a regular margarita. I planned to get it next but didn't since the first one was strong and delicious. Staff was friendly and just good vibes all around. Got takeout from here recently and enjoyed my meal! First, parking was a little annoying since it was pretty darn busy. Par for the course in Morrisville, I guess :) I did manage to find a spot in the parking lot but it was a tiny bit of a trek to get to Mi Cancun. The food was ready when I arrived, so I packed it in my car and headed home. Everything was pretty darn good! My grilled steak tacos were flavorful, the salsa was tasty, and the refried beans and rice weren't bad. I will say that I think I've had a better experience at some of the other Mi Cancuns in the area, but I definitely wasn't disappointed. I'd be happy to come back here and eat in person sometime! read more

tough to assign stars b/c we would give 5 for quality and quantity of food, 2 for ambience, 3 for service, 5 for friendliness. this restaurant is LOUD! music too loud for easy conversation. high ceiling & hard surfaces don't help. many booths, which is a positive. Server wanted to know if we wanted appetizers when we had barely sat down and hadn't even opened our menus. Before that, another person came along with a cart asking us something about guac; it was so loud, we couldn't hear him, and we hadn't even finished sitting down yet! She asked if we wanted to-go boxes while we were still eating; we felt rushed yet we were certainly not lingering. Ending this review with praise for the food. My green enchiladas verdes included broccoli, green peppers, zucchini, summer squash, were flavorful and plentiful. The included salad was fresh and included mandarin oranges. The pork in Companion's carnitas was flavorful, the 4 tortillas were small, but wrapped in foil and warm. Guacamole salad was a small veggie salad with a guacamole dressing. Just stay away. The ambiance felt like a trashy nightclub inside a budget all-inclusive resort--so loud we couldn't hear ourselves talk, and neither could the staff. We ordered in both English and Spanish, and the orders were still wrong--multiple times. Four different servers handled our table, and none of them seemed to communicate with each other. We told the tableside guacamole guy three separate times that we weren't interested. Like a downtown panhandler, he wasn't thrilled with our decision and made sure we knew it. They were out of several beers--conveniently the ones I wanted. I settled for another, which arrived flat, suggesting the lines haven't been cleaned in a while. Then there was the food. What came out was wrong, got replaced, and still wasn't right. We ate a little, left most of it, and spent that night and the next day living on Pepto Bismol. Positive - Wait staff are very friendly and attentive. - Large adult drinks, plus each day of the week there are specials. - Food was pretty tasty. Negatives - The food portions weren't very big, like most Mexican restaurants. - Drinks not on the daily specials are pricey. - It was extremely loud and couldn't hear our friends during dinner. Now I know why this place is so highly rated! It's the service! Now the food is awesome as well. I had the enchiladas suizas platter with rice and beans. The portion was a bit smaller than I would have liked but the flavors were tops and the food came out very promptly. Did I say SERVICE was great?! It's worth repeating when on a busy weekday evening I got seated right away (solo) and immediately my server was there to welcome me in and take a margarita order. My server brought my food on a hot plate (a must) and kept on coming around to check on me. I really felt doted over which is not too common when places are busy. But Mi Cancun seems to have a good system to make sure patrons are well attended to. I will definitely be back. read more

We've been here multiple times; my fam considered this as the best Mexican restaurant in the Triangle, and we think it's still one of the best, but we've been noticing some issues lately. My girl and I usually get the 3-set taco, and I ordered the Carne Asada a few times, and their fajitas. Quality of food is good overall, but the 3-set taco (Mostly all steak, or all Shrimp + Chorizo) lacked the option to mix it up. My girl usually like to have 2 steak and 1 shrimp, and there were times that the employees allowed her request, but last time, they insisted that we can only do 1 of the same kind for each set, so that doesn't seem to be consistent. Other Mexican restaurants allow to mix the kinds of tacos in a 3-set, but the lack of flexibility here is disappointing. Secondly, the Carne Asada I tried lately is not as satisfying as I remember it to be. For a $20+ meal, the amount of meat is not enough; instead there was a piece of cactus (which didn't seem to go well with the rest of the meal). I don't remember seeing the piece of cactus in our order months ago. Initially, we thought that the cactus (sliced like meat) was part of Carne Asada, but we had to ask waiter what it was, so we initially thought there was enough "carne" but overall, while it tastes good, I just don't see the value of ordering this meal ever again. The fajitas had no issues, but I have to point out a major problem when it comes to the value of food this restaurant offers, and that is their sauces: particularly queso cheese and guacamole. They offered 2 kinds of Guac: the regular (around $6-7) and the "Live Guac" (An employee makes it in front of you and serves it in a special bowl), which cost around $9. When we had the Live Guac for the first time, we were not informed that it would cost $9 (we thought it would cost the same as regular Guac, so be careful, first time customers!). It's entertaining to watch the employee make Guac in front of you, but it's not worth $9 (on top of option to give employee a tip - the guac cart had a sign that reminded us that we can tip). Neither Guac options are worth it. The regular kind is too little for the price, and the Live Guac- has more avocado used but definitely not worth $9. As for the queso (which we only ordered once - and never again) cost around $6, and again, the amount is too little for the price. We've had more satisfying amount for similar price in places like Monterrey in Durham, NC and other Mexican restaurants we've been too, but overall, not worth it. Now, time to bring up a bad customer service experience we had in our last visit (Wednesday dinner). First of all, let me say that their customer service overall had been friendly and good in most of our visits; usually waiters ask us for what we needed, and give them to us (such as salsa verde or refill of nachos), but in our last visit, a female waitress had the worst customer service we've seen in our experience of going to restaurants. When my girl was trying to explain that she wanted mixed tacos, the waitress didn't seem to understand what my girl was trying to say, and had to call another employee to deal with our request, which was denied. Secondly, this waitress did NOT ask what we needed, did NOT offer to refill our nachos & salsa, did NOT offer to refill our water when we've waited for a long time, did NOT get our check and takeout box when we waited again! It's as if this waitress disappeared on us or just wanted to avoid us. We were so disappointed with her customer service that it made us lose motivation to return here. Maybe we'll try another one of their other locations. Besides, one of the other waiters told us before that the Morrisville location is their best one since it was the first one, and they have many other locations across North Carolina, which we've never been to. Hopefully, the management will do something to fix these issues, but for now, I think we'll take the time to explore other Mexican spots we haven't tried. read more

Your eyes and stomach cannot believe this place! Where do I start? Lots of photos - check em out! Omg! I went solo today and never felt alone - my server Quin was so kind and smiling to see me enjoying the huge first laid out in front of me. I ordered shrimp fajitas. I set out in front of me was the most beautiful dish with at least a dozen jumbo shrimp sauced out in a decadent flavor and just the right mix of red green sweet prppers and onions. But the spread grew larger with a dish of fried beans, lettuce, guacamole m, cheese!! The salsa was the most uniquely authentic ever experienced. I was so enamored of the food, I ordered tamales and chile con carne to take home, So much food in the bag I almost needed some to carry it to my car! But let's get serious now! If you love a margarita ( or anything else you can name, their drink menu had me planning a visit a week just try every single one. My first mi corazo was dressed well enough to go to church. But the second was ready for a grand entrance to the Grammys! They dressed it up like it was goin' somewhere! I had a sweet booth to myself in a private corner bottom floor. Loved it. Aw!
