Wow! Serious disappointment! We were very excited to eat here after looking at the menu. We made reservations and when we arrived they seated us in a nicely decorated dining room. We actually said to each other how we wished there was a place like this where we live! We took that statement back! After we sat down, 3 other tables were seated 10 minutes after us. We ordered the mushrooms for an appetizer that sounded delightful. My husband ordered the steak and I ordered the lobster spaetzle. I love spaetzle! Two of the tables that arrived after us received their appetizers, then we got ours. The mushrooms may have been ok but they were soaking in grease and therefore we couldn't finish them. Then, the two tables received their meals before we did!!! When our server brought out our meals my husbands steak was lukewarm and I watched as he fought his way through the gristle. He managed to get a few pieces of meat from it. The lobster spaetzle was an okay dish. The weird part was every bite of lobster felt sandy like a clam which is strange since sand and lobster aren't a thing. In the meantime, our server kept walking by, never asking how anything was or if we needed anything. She did the bare minimum and picked up the steak without batting an eye. We were amazed to find this gem after a day of skiing. It is cozy and the service and food were fabulous. Specialty cocktails were delicious, only to be outdone by amazing German dinners. We never get dessert but were tempted by German deep fried sliced crepes with fig sweet sauce and real whipped cream. It was spectacular! Came to New England for a birthday fall foliage extravaganza. Unfortunately we hit traffic on our way out of Boston and were 30 minutes late for our Friday evening reservation. The owner was there that evening and was so accommodating and was able to get us a table. The experience was nothing short of amazing! The BEST French onion soup I've ever had as well as the schnitzel. This restaurant was all we've talked about during our trip when comparing other places we've eaten. Alpenglow is always a treat. Food was spectacular, we had oysters, bavarian pretzels, and my newly favc Pommes Rosti for appetizers. Followed by Pan roasted snapper, which was delicious. What a wonderful find! From the moment we walked in we were treated like old friends. The space is beautiful and very comfortable with a nod to the Alpine theme. The food was delicious and the service impeccable. Our waitress, Raquel, was delightful and attentive without being overbearing. After we finished dining, (onion soup, burger with truffle aioli, trout...all excellent) she brought one of the owners over to meet us. You can understand why this restaurant is so good...her enthusiasm is contagious. We must have chatted for about quite awhile. My fiancee and I came here for our 2 year anniversary. We are locals and this was our first time at Alpenglow. The staff is absolutely fantastic. Super attentive, friendly and very personable. The cocktails are stunning and deliciously unique. The Rhubarb Rose was refreshing and perfect for the hot day we had. The atmosphere is very welcoming and modern. We ordered the charcuterie board and pretzels to start, the maple mustard dip for the pretzels was delightful. Our entrees blew us away. I had the trout while my fiancee had the burger. He is a burger snob and his eyes popped wide open at his first bite. He said it was very very tasty. The hostess Avery and our waitress Rochelle made our anniversary extra special by surprising us with a glass of wine to celebrate. Let's face it, not many options to eat dinner in Wilmington VT but this place looked great and reviews were great so we were excited! But it just fell short on both service and quality. First, menu is pretty limited and uninspiring and a bit all over the place. My daughter had a Burger, my son had the schnitzel, my husband had the mushroom dish and I had a crepe. We also had a salad as appetizers and fried apples for dessert. First, the service is SLOW!!! Think it took an hour and twenty minutes before our ordered entrees came. Than my husband ordered the fried apples (1 order) while we were finishing our entrees and that took another 45 min basically for 3 small apple rinds to be fried. My kids ordered sodas and ordered refills and we were charged for refills - $4 each. I later asked about this and was told they don't do free refills. No issue but think they should share that in advance. The place is cute but felt very crowded in with tables very very close to each other. Food was basic, nothing super interesting or noteworthy except the salad. Overall it was a 3, I wouldn't recommend it. read more

My sister and I stopped in on a Thursday evening hoping to snag a table, as we did not have a reservation, but they had plenty of room. And we were so happy they did! The atmosphere felt like a hug from a cozy ski chalet. The food was incredible! We shared the charcuterie and cheese board, and the mushroom spaetzle. This is the best restaurant I've been to in the area. Cozy ski lodge feel with a fireplace, great drinks. The food was excellent. Had the French Onion soup (it tasted like the onions were stewing for a long time, very rich taste), the chilled tomato and burrata soup (really balanced, with some excellent herb oil on top and some crisp tiny watermelon shavings for texture). There are some outside seating that is first come first served, but they were kind enough to bold me a table when I called and told them we were right across the street.
