I had them repair my driver side window since it's not going up or down due to the frame being bent. I took it here cause I trusted Henry, the owner. He calls me and tells me that the damage was going to cost $175 to fix for time and parts! I went ahead with the repair. I was happy with the result and couldn't believe how well my window was working! Well, that only lasted about a week... my window fell Off track and I wanted to bring it back to him and he refused to work on it! Then to my surprise, I noticed that the glass (window) was no longer the Original glass that was in my car!! It was replaced with after market cheap glass and he didn't inform me! I had to find out for myself. I called some places that specializes in window repair and when they opened the door panel to fix my window, they found that previous repairs done by Alpha Auto caused more damage to my door frame and window panels that the only way to fix my window is to replace the whole door! Oh my word! I paid $175 to replace glass that was mishandled and broken by the dudes at Alpha and I had to pay them to make my window work only for a short period of time. What a rip off!! read more

So far this is the best place to get your alignment done around Bay area for me. My car was screwed up too many time in other shops before I heard of this this place from my friend who did his BWM alignment here with good results and for not 3-digit price tag. The guy who works on the alignment station does an excellent job. After the alignment he always test drives the car and if needed would put it back on the lift to do some minor adjustments until it's perfect. I did alignment 3 times here (the last one just an hour ago) and every time with excellent results. Handling is excellent, steering wheel is dead on straight, tire wear over time is minimal and even. Enough said, my Subaru and Porsche are serviced at this place from now on. And I see that almost all negative reviews for this place and really about Groupon and not about the work they do. I find it humorous that most of the bad reviews are from Living Social and Groupon customers....tells you something right? This is a long overdue review...I've been going to Henry's since 1992!!!! Why do you think I've been a long time customer? Because they're rude? Because they lie? Cheat n steal? poor repairs? uninformative? Get real people. Henry is one of the most honest automotive mech AND business owners I've ever met... like someone else stated....Henry's laugh is ridiculously funny. He's got a great sense of humor especially when telling you how much you owe or what you need replacing! LOL His knowledge, services and pricing are great and he'll get you out of garage as soon as he can..he doesn't want you in the shop long cuz he needs to make room for all the other customers waiting. His establishment is busier than hell...there are a few rare instances where there's only a few cars on the lifts...again, it's rare! Henry is on the phone, sometimes 2, ALL THE TIME. He's not bullshitting or ignoring people (as some idiots here reviewed)....he's ordering parts you dumbasses!!! Most of the time, once he makes the call, he'll get typical parts within 15 min. 90% of the time I call in advance and see if he has time for my needs. If he does, he says "come on over I'll take care of you". Other than that, I'll stop by, notice he's busy, and occasionally he will turn me away or tell me to come back in a couple of hours. I don't get offended or write bad reviews about it. But I would say 90% of the time I do stop in unannounced, he takes care of me immediately....even when there are others waiting before me- LOL Throughout the 2+ decades, I've dropped off my car for some heavy scheduled maintenance...work not done in 30-60 min. I can't even count the number of times Henry has offered to take me home or someplace I needed to go...and on numerous instances, Henry even offered to loan me his car until he's done with mine. I mean...WHO DOES THAT? What mechanic do you know bends over backwards to help you. And the help continues with his service....many times he throws in freebies like wiper blades, rotating tires and oil changes. Henry stands behind his work all the time. I recently started using groupon and found an amazing oil change offer for local shops. I quickly chose alpha based on the overwhelmingly positive feedback. When I arrived at the shop I was excited to redeem my first in a series of services. I was told I needed to make an appointment (my mistake, it is on the flyer). There was a calendar behind the desk and from I could see there was only one appointment per day. I was extremely disappointed when I was then told it would be at least 3 weeks until they could fit me in. I was already overdue and couldn't afford the added miles on my car commuting. I ended up taking it to another shop that has been good to me in the past. They, like most shops, finished it quickly while I waited. I understand that groupons can cause a lot of demand and the shop is likely taking a loss on my service. I would have been willing to wait a week, maybe two with all things considered, but regardless of how I'm paying for my service it's never a good idea to sacrifice customer experience. I'm due for new brake pads and transmission fluid soon, but I'll think twice before giving alpha my business. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. These people are completely rude! I've called to them before and they shunned me off. I called again to schedule an appointment, and they told me to call later to schedule an appointment (this was at 10:00 am). I finally was able to get my car an oil change. I too purchased a deal from Groupon. I noticed it was time to call and schedule an appointment to get my second oil change (this was in June) When I called in they said the next opening they had was for November! I called this month to see if things have opened up and they told me that they are no longer taking appointments for the rest of the year. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? This is how you run a business!? I drive by this place everyday from work and at times I see that they are not even busy. They will have one or two cars there tops... and they cant take freakin 30 minutes to do 1 car. They have plenty of space to do multiple cars and I know for a fact they have enough helping hands.... I feel like I honestly just wasted my cash on this groupon deal... It was my first time there. The place was supposed to open at 8:30 and I got there at 8:25. Every mechanic was already there and ready to jump-start their day. I was greeted as soon as I parked my car and they started earlier than their schedule opening time! Henry, the owner, told me my car would be ready by 11 and it was ready at 11, on the dot. I was happy with the work they did. I didn't hear that weird noise coming from my engine anymore and they even adjusted my steering wheel and emergency brake handle. I could feel the difference in the handling as soon as I was driving away. It felt like I was driving a new car again! =) I don't think they have WIFI, which would be a total plus if they did (I was looking for the WIFI sign and was unable to find one...)! read more

I am one super happy and veeery satisfied customer! It's hard to trust anyone these days, especially people trying to get more out of their business even when it involves dishonesty. Being a woman I find it intimidating and even dreadful at times to come to any type of auto place because ... lets admit, women don't know all the details about cars and its parts. I went by myself and trusted that yelp wouldn't steer me wrong again. The reviews on yelp were quite comforting so I was pretty confident. The guys at Alpha Auto Repair were very helpful and even asked me reasons to why I wanted (balance and alignment) work done, and what I was experiencing with the car to make me want a balance done. I needed balancing and alignment done on my husbands car because I just got new tires the day before at the horrible shop (Rich's Tire Service, Mountain View), in which the tire place did not offer free balance or alignment. And even before my new tires were placed my steering wheel was shaky and the right side of my husband front car wheel was way balder than the left. It seemed as if Alpha Auto Repair didn't want me to get more work on my car than what needed to be done. Thanks Alpha Auto Repair for your honestly. They were fast, efficient and most importantly they took the time to listen and answer my questions and concerns. Not to mention they even took my husbands car for a test drive. There are few auto mechanics I trust. After the terrible Car Toys experience in Oregon, I'm methodical in first calling a few places to get a quote before deciding on the auto mechanic to go to. Since I fight the SF to San Jose commute daily, I bought a groupon for 3 oil changes for $30 at Alpha Auto Repair, and decided to get my car's transmission fluid flushed as well. So I went in at 4:30pm on a Friday, even though the place closes at 5pm, they gladly took my car in. The oil change and the flush was done in 45 mins flat. They also clean a bit of the foggy grim off my headlights- no charge. The oil change was paid with the groupon and the flush was $90 (this is much less than what Firestone quoted me for in SF). Job well done Alpha Auto Repair! I can't wait for my next oil change, I'll probably have them do some other work as well. read more

I have been relying on Henry (he is the owner) for years. He has worked on many of my cars (from expensive to run-abouts) and has done minor to complete engine & transmission changes. He is HONEST, knows his business and has a well trained staff. Yes - it gets very busy (he does warrantee work for dealerships) but he gets the job done quickly with little rework ever required. He is the ONLY mechanic that I have ever found who does honest preventative maintenance. He will tell you what you need and what you don't need. I once had to have him tow my van from about 45 miles away. His cost to me for this distance was cheaper to me out of pocket than if I had used my AAA tow services!!! Remember - he can handle the mundane repairs along with sophisticated repairs on luxury cars. read more

I live in the East Bay and the drive down to San Jose is worth it when I have to get big repairs on my car. I just had the clutch repaiedr...ouch! Henry, the owner, took good care of me! As soon as I pulled into the shop he came to my car to greet me. I told him my car troubles and he took it for a test drive and told me he'd have to replace the clutch. He quoted me a fee (extremely reasonable!!) and then they began work. I later come to find out that I needed new brakes...double ouch! But again, the fees are very reasonable and he and his staff are very trustworthy. He even threw in an oil change :) They are quite busy on Saturdays. As I waited in the main office all the customers had the same thing to say. "Henry is a good guy!" He had a rapport with every customer and everyone left happy. Every time I leave that shop my car feels as good as new (and it's not so new anymore). I highly recommend this place! This isn't one of those repair shops where they will take advantage of you, especially if you are a female. The other really cool thing is that the owner will get take out and the entire staff will stop for a short lunch and they all eat together! I came in for a wheel alignment one day, which was already a good deal as it is ($50). when I came to pick up my car, I asked how much it would be to replace a burned-out bulb on my Lexus. Without even telling me, Henry then turned to one of his guys and immediately replaced the bulb -- it was on the house. Can't get any better than that! Those who had a bad experience with the Groupon and Living Social deals, give this place another chance. This is a no-frills, inexpensive, get-your-car-in-and-out place done right the first time. If ever there is a problem with their work, they will redo it with no hassle. The owner may not be talkative on the phone, but listen to what he tells you, direct to the point and won't lie to you. I hit some debris on the freeway and that busted my tire and lower control arm. I had my prior mechanic chance the lower control arm and put 2 new front tires. He did not tell me it was imperative to have the tires aligned so I didn't do anything about it. After 5,000 miles both front tires were worn out and needed to be replaced. Pissed at my prior mechanic I decided to get the new tires installed and wheels aligned somewhere else. Through yelp I found this shop. There was no wait and 2 mechanics got to work right away on my car. I got 2 tires mounted and balanced for $10 each ($25 with old tire disposal) and wheel alignment ($50). Overall the job was satisfactory. The wheels were very badly aligned and they did an OK job. After I got the report sheet from the computer there were 2 items that were barely within spec. For example the spec range would be -10 to 10 and the car got adjusted to 10.1. They spent about 40 minutes working with the car. I guess the mechanic thought it was good enough within range, so I think they work is also good enough thus the 3 stars. Would I go there again? Yes. read more

So after a bit of Yelp research I decided to bring in my car for an alignment. I called the day before just to check and to get an appointment for the near day. Henry was very nice on the phone and told me to come in the next day @1:30. I showed up he smiled and gave me the paper work. He got me right in. Very nice man. I watched how he was with other people as well. The place is nothing to look at, but it's a repair shop and in the end all I want is good work and to be treated fair. The price was great! Only $50. Most other places are $80 - $100. But I guess they make it up in volume. They were very busy. Overall a great experience and I'll be back. read more

DO NOT purchase the Living Social "deal" for the three oil changes at this place!!! I purchased a coupon through living social in July 2012 with the terms and conditions being that I had one year from date of purchase to use it. I take my coupon card to the auto shop on July 28 and am told I need an appointment - fine, not a problem. The next available appointment? October 23!!! That's four months out! The man at Alpha is entirely unaccommodating nor does he seem to care that scheduling an oil change four months out is absolutely insane. Realizing I'm going to have to go somewhere else for my oil change more immediately, I figure might as well book my next one at Alpha. I schedule the next available Saturday appointment which is Nov.3. Then I ask to schedule a subsequent appointment since I only have a year to use the coupons and they book so far in advance. I ask about early February and the man tells me the coupon is only valid until year end of 2012. What?!?! I show him where on the coupon, which has his shop's name clearly printed at the top, where the terms expressly say the coupon is valid one year from date of purchase - which I purchased in July. He says, "no, no, no" his "contract" with the coupon folks was only for one year. Then he tries to show me the copyright date on the coupon - yes, he shows me the copyright date - which states "copyright 2011/2012" as if this indicates anything! He refuses to honor the terms of the coupon and blows me off as if my problem is between me and the coupon folks. Wrong! That's your issue dude. I'm abiding by the terms you set forth on your coupon. He clearly does not care about the terms and conditions of his own coupon nor how this scam may adversely affect his business. I just want my money back and to never have to set foot in this establishment again. read more

The owner is so weird and racist because he talks to people who speak Vietnam's but the rest of the people like nothing. He talks them down, he is so rude and condescending. I called this number because on yelp there was no open time and auto repair places are pretty obscure times so i called at 7 and i think i woke the owner up :( haha but nonetheless he told me it opens at 8:30 so if anyone wants to know the time 830!!!! well i went in for an alignment and an oil change i must say it was pretty fast and very well done.. i got there at 830 left within 45 minutes.. 50$ for alignment OTD ( out the door) is an unbeatable price and 25$ for and oil change. One of the mechanics test drove my car to make sure the alignment was right but to be honest with you i think he was going for a joy ride!! jk all in all my experience of alpha auto repair has been GREAT!! and i will continue to go again. Lets start by saying I will not come back ever. I came in for an alignment. I had a rear camber kit, and rear camber was out of wack. There was adjustment both ways , and ability to be adjusted. But instead the "so called tech" did not touch it. I question him as to why he would not, since it was still off spec. He replies, I cannot adjust it, its maxed out. I went to show him it was not max out, and he goes and walks around to computer and says watch. then what he does next is very disappointing. He goes to the sensor that is attached to the wheel, and hits it a few times and now it shows a little more closer to spec, and still out of spec. WTF. Talked to the owner and he said I can do it again, But i said no, i rather go pay someone to do it right the first time. read more

With the good review I thought I should come here to get my car check and from a friend recommended me to bring my car here since they close at 2am. I came to see if they can do work on my car but I was told they couldn't take my car because they were booked. I asked them can I make an appointment and the old man said we're very busy try next time. He didn't even ask me what kind of repair I needed. While talking to me, he was on the phone the whole time and he was more concentrated with the other guys in the waiting/office room. I've been trying to call their shop on a weekday and it seems like no one picks up and then I see him on the phone. that's weird. I had better services with other places. I'm not sure if he was stress since he was booked or just had a bad morning but if you think you can get a better service than I did, then go ahead and take your car there. read more

Dont go to this shop they will not take care of your car! Shitty service and rude employees! They replaced my suspension on the front passenger side and it has been making a squeaking noise that is mostly prominent at night when theres low car traffic and noise. The guy test drove my car and couldn't hear anything over my exhaust and laughed at me and said that a noise doesn't only appear at night. They refused to even take off my wheel and take a look at the suspension because they could not hear anything in the heavy traffic and loud construction of downtown. An honest mechanic shop. I've had several repairs done here. Henry and his laugh will get you every time; him and his mechanics are good guys and they work quickly. You won't hear that you need this or that additional part fixed unless they think it's really a problem. 2 family cars are well maintained thanks to these guys. Pricing is fair if you understand cars at all, and know what is involved with part costs and labor. Pro Tips: ** I've read the review where Henry & crew fixes things without asking. Yes it's true. Be sure to tell him to call you first before starting any work so you know the costs. Again, he's never changed anything on my cars unless it really needed to be changed. He's not trying to rip you off, he's just trying to knock out the work and wants to do it right... he just forgets to ask. ** If you want to save some money and know your way around car parts, order quality parts online then bring it to Henry. He has no problem with that and sometimes the online store will have a longer warranty. I've brought AC rebuild kits, shocks, sway bar links, oxygen sensors, everything... even an entire engine once (shipped that to them first). It's cheaper online; he'll even tell you that, then his labor isn't bad at all. Example? For $490 I bought a *complete* AC kit online - all related AC parts - and Henry charges $350 to put it in. $840 total. Honda's quote? Over $2,000. read more

This place got crazy packed after I got here! Lucky me. =] I went to get my tires done at tire merchants and came here for an alignment at about 9am last week. One of the workers welcomed me in and told me to park close to the garage since there was no parking. I asked how long it would take and he said about 30 mins and they got right to work! Awesome. As I waited, I got a chance to conversate with the owner. He was very friendly and cool!! It was a quick get to know each other; I wish it was longer since I enjoyed talking to him. What made me very sad (even till this day) was that I didn't get to tip, err, I should say forgot. =[ Their prices are low so they deserve it.
