I hired Sunset Masonry for a masonry project that involved coordination between three neighboring…read moreproperties. While the masonry work was completed, communication and project management were significant issues. On multiple occasions, the project manager initiated phone calls by immediately yelling. These calls included repeated references to cost concerns on other parts of the project which were unrelated to my scope of work. My portion of the project was limited to cutting an opening in an existing block wall and adding two columns for a gate I had already purchased. When the gate installer (one they frequently recommend) came to install the gate, he notified me that the hole was too large for my gate and there would be a noticeable gap. When I contacted the project manager to flag the issue, the response was another phone call in which I was yelled at. While the final result is functional and the gap issue was eventually resolved by adding a piece of metal, due to the communication style, lack of professional conduct, and quality control issues, I would not recommend this company, especially for larger projects or projects requiring coordination.

I wish I had seen some of these reviews before I purchased a gate from Ken. My experience is very…read moresimilar to some of the others who have left a bad review. Let me start with the pro's. The price was reasonable and the gate was completed and installed as promised by Ken. At first glance it looked like a good deal. Now the con's. There is a 1" gap on one side of the gate. The other side is not as wide, which is nice but the gate started sagging and the lock does not line up so it doesn't lock properly. The gate will not stay locked and it will open when the handle is jiggled or if there is a windy day. The paint started chipping around the lock. The gate had to be adjusted so much that the deadbolt rubs on the strike plate screws. I had to have them come over multiple times to adjust the gate and it still doesn't work satisfactorily. Ken refused to acknowledge the poor quality and for that alone I cannot recommend them. If you are looking for a new gate I recommend you shop around and spend the extra money to get a professional one that works properly. See photos and video for details.
