Despite the immediate family expressing concerns that their loved one may not properly fit in the casket, the funeral home assured them she would. It was only discovered that she did not fit when she was removed from the hearse--at which point the casket lid would not close and was resting on her body, leaving her exposed to both the family's view and the rain during the service. Their grandmother was meant to have Hawaiian leis placed respectfully around her neck, but instead they were placed awkwardly on her arms in what appeared to be an attempt to hide the casket lid issue. The family had paid extra for a rain cover, which leaked badly. Rainwater soaked through onto the wicker casket, onto their loved one--who was already visible due to the lid issue--and onto every family member standing beneath it. Additionally, only half of the chairs that were paid for were set out. Those that were present were filled with rainwater, and no effort was made by staff to dry them or assist guests. The family was also supposed to receive fingerprints for memorial keepsakes, which were completely mishandled and rendered unusable. When these serious concerns were brought to management the following day, responsibility was barely acknowledged, and the compensation offered was insulting, given the magnitude of the failures. This was an already heartbreaking day that was made significantly worse by negligence and poor service. I strongly urge others to avoid this funeral home.

To be caring to people at a time of need/not always thinking clearly takes a real conscientous effort. ...I'm sorry for your loss and mine but like you said, check it out ahead of time, do due-diligence, and be prepared and especially have a will/last breath scenario prepared. Had we done our due-diligence ahead of time, we would have learn the $9,980 price we paid for a very simple service and inexpensive casket would have cost half that price at two different non-Musgrove Family Mortuary associated mortuaries in the Eugene/Springfield area. My advice to all grieving families having to pick a mortuary for completing the after-life business of a loved one, is to price services ahead of time... even if only a day, as there are extremely different prices offered for the same services. We chose this mortuary because of location and the was a mistake. They all charge a local service charge for picking up a body and delivering it to a cemetery. Unfortunately, they do not all believe in offering economical prices.

Their trucks are always maintained and they strive on customer service. Besides the business aspect after my father retired from them he fell ill and wasn't able to keep in contact much with his trucking family. Last week I called MO Nelson and let them know my father was in hospice but I wanted them to know every though he hadn't been around he loved working for them and I had also wanted to thank them for giving my father a place to call not only his employer but family for those 20 years. Before my father passed yesterday they sent up the most beautiful flowers, it truly made my father feel like he was still worthy in the trucking world.
