Steven from True Test was amazing! I had called multiple inspectors and also went through many many yelp reviews for various inspectors and honestly I am glad that I had gone with True Test. I heard a lot about inspectors cutting corners and then home owners having to deal with issues after they buy a house and I really wanted to avoid that. With True Test you don't have to worry about that at all. On the day of the home inspection I had to work so I wasn't available to meet with Steven for the inspection for my new home. He had gone and done the inspection himself and asked me to call him once I was out from work so that we can discuss the house. A few hours after the inspection he sent me a very detailed report with pictures and notations and everything about every little thing in the house. That night around 8pm he went over every detail of the house with me on the phone. He was on the phone with me for over an hour! He was very patient and answered all of my questions and explained what needed to be done. He found three big things in the house that needed to be fixed, the electrical, foundation, and the chimney needed to be repointed. His inspection was so thorough that the seller didn't even hesitate to go ahead and fix every single thing! He saved me a few thousand dollars in repairs!! If I had gone with the inspector my real estate agent told me to get I don't think he would have been this thorough or even being up the issues that Steve found. At first, we were unsure about hiring a professional to come with us on the walkthrough inspection of our first home purchase. I will preface I found it strange that it was 42 days on the market and it was not sold, especially for the listing price. The housing market in New York City is very high, and the home was priced below comps in the area. However, I was excited but nervous since it's my first home. Going through this process blindly and with no knowledge of home buying I was an easy target. Especially for dishonest realtors who's main priority is selling a home knowing there are existing faults with the home. I knew I needed a home inspector to go through the house and do a thorough investigation. I did a deep search on the Internet for the best House Inspector, and I found him. He came ten minutes early with his equipment and was ready to work. He explained the home inspection process to me, and made sure I was aware of the process beginning to end. To start the house had no heat, water damage, the meter was inside the living room, structural faults, electrical work out of code, and to top it off termites. After the two hour house inspection I couldn't help but notice all of the faults. The listing agent was oblivious to the feedback the house inspector was telling him. He even went out of his way to downplay the issues, or insinuate it was something else. The house inspector did not shy away from telling the agent exactly what he was observing.
