Sharing the extremely poor service I received from Alpha Moving during my recent relocation. In all my years of moving -- including multiple long‑distance moves -- I have never experienced service as consistently unacceptable as what your company provided. My dining room table was severely damaged. I was given incorrect information about the packing process, which resulted in substantial and unexpected fees. An Apple TV device was misplaced by the moving team and has not been recovered. The movers chipped my TV and Peloton screens. Additionally, the head of the moving crew repeatedly pressured me for excessive tips, creating an uncomfortable and inappropriate environment. I was referred to Alpha Moving by my realtor, and I have already advised her to stop recommending them to clients. Based on this experience, I would not use Alpha Moving again under any circumstances. read more

I recently had a very good experience with Alpha Moving. They did my move from Glassboro NJ to Franklin Lakes NJ about 6 weeks ago. They were outstanding! The crew of 4 were on time, extremely professional, highly competent and a pleasure to work with. They took great care in protecting the property I was moving from and the property I was moving into. They demonstrated a very high level of skill and efficiency, and were very pleasant and customer friendly. I was very happy with how they handled a long and stressful day. Heather at the office was very professional in coordinating the move. They were very flexible in last minute decisions as to what we wanted to discard versus move and in helping us pack a few last minute items. I have moved numerous times around the country and by far the worst moving company I have ever used. They had a number of miscellaneous charges, they broke my bed, my lamp, my glassware and stained by brand new white rug and carpeting when the movers wore their shoes in my new apartment. read more

Updated review: Alpha Moving contacted me after this review and are in the process of rectifying the issues. In terms of the missing suitcase, there was a misunderstanding on my part, so they will be returning the suitcase. They will also file a claim so that my chair can be replaced. In light of their prompt response, I am updating my review to give them 5 stars. We all make mistakes (clearly I did in my initial review), and it is refreshing to see a company which takes these issues seriously and handles everything courteously and professionally. The move itself was professionally organized and completed, and I was satisfied by the speed of the packing and delivery. Given the company's response to my issues, I would now recommend them highly and will utilize again in the future. Original review for reference: I paid for 3 movers and a flat rate for all day move from a 1-bedroom to a 2-bedroom ($2700 flat rate and I tipped $600). This price is reasonable, but my review is about how they broke my Eames lounge chair ($6300) and did not cover via insurance (they only cover $1 per pound per item). They also stole my Rimowa luggage - I told them to put it in the front closet, but then noticed 2 days after the move that my front closet did not have my luggage, only leftover packing supplies. read more

Hired Alpha earlier this year to move 3 blocks from my 1bedroom to a 2bedroom in Hoboken in between 2 snow storms... the team was on time and they did take good care of some of my expensive furniture/clothing/shoes/bed/coffee table/ and other random items. The price quoted wasn't exactly consistent but I had them move a bit more boxes and provide a few garment boxes which added a couple hundred bucks to the original quote. I contracted Alpha Movers in August 2021 to move me from NY to WA. The cost was at the high end of the quotes; however, they have excellent reviews and a list of compelling clients. The short version of this move is that after five days of unpacking, I have the following issues: 1 - exceeding 45,000$ in damages. 2 - they never moved my belonging inside my house, didn't set up my furniture, except one bed, and then left in a hurry because they had another job. 3 - refused to allow me to keep moving blankets that I bought and left expensive furniture unprotected and exposed 4 - have been unresponsive as to make good on their contract terms In general, I understand that things break, things get lost, moves are rarely perfect. However, what transpired is at a different level of malpractice and negligence. One piece of furniture has moved over eight times without a scratch. It is now in multiple parts. I just had it refinished and was so pleased with how it looked. I fear it is ruined. I'm now trying to work out insurance and have hired a lawyer to handle the breach of contract. My recommendation is to pass on Alpha Movers, but if you have to use them, observe them keenly and do not let them take advantage of you by ruining your possessions. I'm sure they will have canned answers to all of this, but what I asked for was simple: make good on your contract and do the honorable thing here. Admit you made mistakes and be honorable. Do the right thing. I realize that honor is rare in our current time, but that shouldn't cause people to demand it from others. If we all refuse to allow ourselves to be grifted, maybe it would stop. Thanks for helping my parents move, Alpha! My parents moved out of our home of over 20 years. With a lot of stuff, I'm glad my dad decided to hire a professional moving company. I'll admit, though the reviews on Yelp are great and positive, I trust a Yelp Elite review a little more, so I was hesitant. However, I was proven wrong! They are amazing. My dad did his research and got all the quotes and contracts ready from Alpha. Eddie and his crew arrived at my parents' house before 10AM on a Saturday and they worked so hard and were very careful packing and moving the furniture. It took them about 3 hours to pack up dozens of boxes and the bulky furniture. I did the walkthrough with Eddie since my parents were at their closing. Everything was spotless and we headed off to their new house. We had a bit of a hiccup before unloading, but everything worked out. We fed the crew and they seemed grateful for the sustenance. They continued working and setting up the furniture until 7PM. They were a good group of guys and worked super hard. Thank you so much Eddie and crew! This was my first time moving out on my own and I was a bit hesitant looking for movers that would be both time and cost efficient. Alpha Moving & Storage went above and beyond my expectations, Andrew and Tiffany answered all of my questions I had while trying to figure out a quote and coordinate with my new building management. Alpha movers provided bad advice, destroyed my staircase and took no responsibility. They assured me before engaging them that insurance was not required for my small piano and I trusted them. On moving day when they realized the piano could create a problem, they waited until the end of the evening when their team was tired (and so were we) to move it and said they wouldn't move it unless we signed a waiver. We had no choice at this point so signed. The moving team was ill-equipped to move the piano despite their representations that they had the skill and experience to handle the move. They then got in contact about my experience and apologized wanting to fix the damage and then shortly after realized that I had signed a waiver (even though I had told them when they got in touch). Now silence from them. I regret using them and should have gone with Moishes. I now have a two and a half thousand bill to pay to fix my stairs. read more

Alpha Moving did my move from Bayonne NJ to Montclair and the whole experience was nothing but good. They called me on FaceTime for doing the estimate, I've shown the place and the furniture and got a quote back on the same day - they were very clear on how the price was put together and sent me an itemized list of the services. They also followed up before the move to ensure I had no questions. On the day of the move they were on time and everyone was very courteous and VERY careful with my priceless/valuable IKEA furniture :) - we ended up finishing the move faster than expected and they deducted that from the original estimate. The estimator was very nice. He clearly explained the price structure which is straightfoward and didn't try to push me since he well undertood moving is a stressful process. On the day of moving, everything changed with the lead mover who tried to trick me throughout the entire move - He first tried to sell me the flat rate and I politely rejected since I like the houly structure that I signed on the contract. Thirty minutes later, he stopped moving and came to me again selling the flat rate, and even threatened that more material and hours will be used and ended with a much higher price than the oringal estimate. - Too much Idle Times hand "Calculating" the payment. When movers came in, we spent 15mins go through everything which makes sense. However, before the unloading, the lead mover spent at least 15mins "calculating" the price while the other movers are running idle. This happened again at the end of the move, he worked on numbers for another 15mins at least. The invoice would be based the number of hours they spent and it's straightforward enough. I don't get why he needs all those time hand calculating all the numbers. - Furnitures got disassembled way more than needed (I moved those furnitures 2 times before and no one tear down every single parts to that level), and of course results in more time - The lead mover nitpicking on everything on the estimation list and try to charge me more. I was uncomfortable bringing people into my home to do moving estimates due to COVID, but they conducted a full walk through with me on FaceTime with no issues. They provided a full estimate within an hour and were very clear on my options. The team on our moving day was excellent. Very communicative and took all of our direction perfectly. I am in the midst of PREPARING for a move. Did not use Alpha. Will not use Alpha. Starting to put feelers out with companies to begin the estimate-gathering process. In a span of 24 hours, Alpha called me 5 times, emailed me twice, and texted my personal line. This aggressive, predatory practice is so unacceptable. I used Alpha to move most of my Jersey City 1br apartment into a storage unit nearby (not Alpha's own storage). The sales staff were responsive, fair and professional. I reviewed at least 5 other movers in the area, and Alpha were able to provide the services I wanted at a competitive price. The movers showed up 15 minutes early, were friendly and professional, and moved quickly and efficiently. This was important as there was a 100-yard haul from my unit to the elevator, and that could have taken a lot of time if they didn't think about what they were doing. They finished the job 10 minutes earlier than anticipated, and there were no surprises regarding the cost. Understand that supplies such as tape cost extra, and buy your own in advance - I had to buy 4 rolls of tape for maybe $3/ea from the movers. I have moved 6 times in the NYC area within the past decade or so, and this experience was certainly above average. I would recommend or use them again. read more

I had to change my date a couple of times and there were no issues scheduling for a day that worked best for me. I used ALPHA Moving for our move from NJ to MA. They came highly recommended from a trusted friend and I did not even get quotes from any other companies -- and they were EXCELLENT. If I could sum up my experience in one sentence, I would say - if you want a 100% drama free, stress free move, use ALPHA!!! Our moved was scheduled for the first, big, predicted snow storm in December 2020 - a storm that would affect our entire move if it happened. Again, I spoke to Heather & Thomas, both reassured us that - this is WHAT THEY DO, and unless the roads were "closed by the state" they would be there to move us. In the end the snow did not arrive until after they had our house all packed up! PHEW! The moving team arrived on time, maybe even a little early to get ahead of the snow! Every single one of them was friendly, courteous and STRONG! It is truly a well-oiled machine. They know what they are doing, they have a specific work flow and they got right to work. I had one piece, an antique table - they wrapped it up very carefully with moving blankets and boxes and it arrived in perfect condition!!! Again, they arrived at the new house exactly on time. I would give Alpha 2.5 stars if i could. I used a moving service because I was going across country and felt that a moving company would help to relieve some of the stresses of moving as it was sold to me at my in home estimate. Let's start there. I had a good experience with my at home estimate. Generally they come in look at everything you are asking to move and give you an estimate of the "space you would take up on a moving truck". Here is where i will give my FIRST MOVING TIP : use the number of boxes they indicate and sizes or else you will not know if you are using the same amount of "space on the truck". Also, I would highlight recommend knowing exactlly what will be moved and not over estimate. If you plan to leave anything leave it out because your bill will most likely not be ADJUSTED as they state. The movers arrived almost on time, they were about 45 minutes late because of traffic. NOT A PROBLEM. The men are nice, quick and listened to any requests i had. MOVING TIP: DO NOT have any extra supplies around because the price of using their tape, bubble wrap, blankets, boxes are already included in your price and its non negotiable. They basically used my boxes, bubble wrap and plastic wrap and i still paid for their supplies that they didnt use in my apartment. The guys were nice, and moved everything in about 4-5 hours. I did not want to sign the papers as stated in the beginning because i had decided not to move some items that were in my original estimate. They dont really adjust much if its on the original estimate expect to pay for it I moved across country and had a horrible experience with the moving driver at my destination. My items were to arrive to two different places and they packed them backwards which is where all the bad things stemmed from. MOVING TIP: make sure you go over your roster of items when they come off the truck because it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY! My driver did not do this with me, and i asked twice about when we would check items off. He never did it and I was missing 4 items on my roster. I only found out that i was missing items because i went back through my storage items 5 times!. I also was pressured to taking an outside storage unit because the driver couldn't "fit" his truck anywhere it needed to go. I and my husband also had to move all of out items to an inside storage unit after the driver pressured us to get an outside storage unit. He didn't want to lift much or walk anywhere. he also did not want to drive his truck into our neighbor hood. My question would be: why send these huge trucks if you know it can't fit anywhere?!? OH IT"S TO MAKE EXTRA MONEY! CASH IN THE DRIVERS HAND! Our driver wanted to be paid some in cash and charged us for thing to get cash. NEVER GOT A RECEIPT FOR THOSE CHARGES and will not be getting one as the company won't write one as he kept the money. Generally i had a pleasant experience with everyone but the driver. he was lazy, and just wanted cash. Not my issue that he wanted cash to take home. I paid in bank check. (WOULD RECOMMEND) it would have been easier and cheaper to rent a POD to move. if you have people who can lift things just use PODS or uhaul. You won't LOSE ANYTHING read more

They are dishonest. They made me give a $100 deposit before my move. I tipped them nicely, and they never credited the paid $100 when I was paying the rest of the moving fee. I was so busy and distracted that I didn't notice till way after. They didn't break anything during my move, hence my two stars instead of one. read more
