Nice looking restaurant! I loved the atmosphere and open dining concept. Service was prompt and our meals were exactly what we ordered. However, a few major problems brought my 5 Star review down to 2: First of all, the menu was not accurate at all. The "gyro" was not a gyro, it was more like shawarma... I happen to prefer shawarma over gyro anyway, so this was actually a good thing, but why not call it what it is? The greek salad was made up of fluffy leaf lettuce, drenched in a very sweet balsamic vinaigrette, topped with tiny little feta crumbles and not a bit of croutons or oregano to be found... again, why call it a greek salad if that's not what it is? Just make something up if you have to! Greek salad is iceburg lettuce, croutons, big cubes of feta, and a basil/oregano red wine vinaigrette... not anything like the salad at Alpha Omega. The final and most important reason for the 2-Star review was the severe case of food poisoning my husband and I got there. Within 4 hours of our dinner we both got deathly ill with pain, nausea, and vomiting. It was pretty much our only meal of the day and we both ordered the same exact thing, so it's pretty easy to identify the source of our illness. 12 hours later, we're still dealing with it. I'm really bummed out about our experience there because the menu looked wonderful and the restaurant had so many other great things going for it. read more

This is the top Mediterranean food place in the Waco area. Food tastes fresh, service is great, portions are huge too. Everything is sold independently of each other (for e.g. fries and sandwich are two items) so it could get a little pricey, however like I said the portions are pretty good. Would definitely recommend for anyone trying to get a different taste off food. read more

Good food and quick service. Visited this place twice while in Waco on business. The first time I visited was for lunch and I had the Pork Gyro and a cup of vegetarian soup. Gyro was excellent and soup was delicious. I would rate this visit as a 5 Star visit. My second time was for dinner a couple of days later and I once again had the Pork Gyro but this time had the pasta salad. The meat in the Gyro was mostly crispy and somewhat burnt and dry. Not enough to go complain but not nearly as tasty as my first visit. The pasta salad had way too many olives chopped up and incorporated into the pasta salad itself. Not to my liking. I ordered a lamb gyro, phyllo wrapped spanakopita, and fried chickpea balls to go. The spanakopita was DELICIOUS! The gyro was smaller than I was expecting for $9+ but also really good. The chickpea balls were ok. Overall it's good food just gotta find the best things off the menu. I love the chicken gyro and feta fries. It gets busy at peak times and it can be loud in there, but the food makes it worth the noise.

I have only been here once but the food was excellent. I had their special which was bascially a lemon pork roast. I know it sounds weird but it was one of the most flavorful dinners I have had and definitely at the top for Waco. My wife had a gyro that I tasted the meat from and it was great. Also we ate for about $15 total so you can't beat that. All in all I was impressed. read more

Visiting family from out of town and just had the best hummus of my life. On the menu is also Feta Fries which everyone at my table shared and loved. The service was kind, clean, and fast. Everything I've gotten here is amazing; I tend to get the same thing any time I go to a given restaurant, but I keep trying and loving new things at Alpha Omega. My mother and i were in town for spring break .the food was ok the hummas wasent smooth it was like it had coffee grounds in it .i had a pork gyro and my mom had a chicken gyro both where chewy .we have a medatreainain place in dallas thats amazing so maybe comparing the two isent fair but still .parking is a dirt parking lot and they dont have a sign so we drove past it and had to go around the block.its quite small hole in the wall that is over priced read more

2 stars because they were open and followed safety practices. We got the shrimp and chicken gyros and fries for lunch. The shrimp were mushy and fishy and the chicken also tasted fishy. Maybe they cook everything on the same grill so it all tastes like fish? The lettuce in the gyros was turning black and starting to rot. The prices were low but so was the quality. Wife and I had the sampler trio appetizer and picked the tzitziki, hummus, and babaganoush with pita chips and all were fresh and delicious! I love the food here! The chicken gyro and feta fries are a consistent favorite of mine and the giovetsi is also delicious. They recently opened a european-style coffee shop, which I was very pumped about because I haven't had Greek coffee in far too long. However, either due to the Waco tap water or some other factor, it came out very weak and strange-tasting. This place has it all. Amazing food, if you're a fan of Mediterranean, dessert and coffee! I'm so glad I found this restaurant. I usually get their beef gyros (girl on a budget), but their lamb gyro is really good as well. They're regular fries are bomb, but their feta fries are a must. If you can't afford it every time, at least try it once, or split with a friend. It's a must. After lunch, or dinner, and you're feeling some extra room in your stomach, go for their pastries! I've had their baklava and let me tell you, you won't find another pastry like this. It's very rich in flavor and makes you wanting more. I have yet to try Pinewood's coffee (the coffee shop located within Alpha Omega); however, I have heard many good stories. I love the environment here. I was the first person to arrive here on a Tuesday. Took a while for them to figure out how to get on the wifi. I ordered the fried cheese balls and the hummus. Cheese balls tasted like moldy ass. I don't know what three cheeses they used but ew ew ew. In contrary, the pita is absolutely perfect. The hummus is a bit spicier than I would like, but still delicious. I would definitely come back. Alpha Omega serves Greek food in a sophisticated, bobo setting. They have a wide selection ranging from gyros to main dishes, like moussaka. I enjoyed the lamb gyro, hummus, and Greek salad. The lamb is roasted and shredded, so it doesn't have that shaved off the spit texture. It's a generous portion, so I probably could have done without the unremarkable salad. I found the aesthetic better than (good) food. There's exposed brick, high ceilings with exposed rafters, and unfinished floors. It was so hip that the ketchup bottles on the tables seemed incongruous. They had instrumental smooth jazz playing, and there's an in-house coffee operation. So it seems like it would be an ideal study spot in the non-peak hours. read more

Gyros are really good. Bread & tzatiki sauce are on point. Fries are not included in a meal but the gyros are pretty big & they put a lot of meat. If getting fries I'd skip the feta fries as feta doesn't stick well and the fries are so well seasoned that they distract from the flavor. Only real disappointment was the spanikopita. It was not the enclosed triangle shape you normally think of, more like the spinach with the layers of Phyllo. It also seemed like it was in a bit too long as it was a bit burnt.
