I had lunch on Sunday. Wow oh wow.... The vegologist sandwich was beyond expectations good. The chai latte was hot and decadent. I really enjoyed the decor, rustic yet simple, felt like home. The service was beyond excellent. I highly recommend this cafe.

Stopped on our way back from the Gran Quivara Mission. Friendly staff and fun decor. Staff and most customers were wearing masks as required by the state DOH. My huevos rancheros were fresh, with whole beans. The chili was milder than I would have liked, but everything on the plate was tasty. My wife got the turkey rueben and it was stupendous. The fries were fresh cut, fresh fried and perfect. We ordered cookies to go for an afternoon snack.

The food was good, but boy was it slow. I get the impression that the waitress was not being entirely straight with me when she said the someone in the kitchen had called in sick. Just reading the other reviews, it doesn't seem like slow service is a one-time issue. And it's not like the place was busy. In any case, the server was polite, we weren't on a schedule, so it wasn't a big deal, so I didn't deduct a star for that. My wife had the Dumpmeister, a peanut butter and bacon sandwich. She loved it. I tried it, but am still unconvinced by the concept. I had the Sophia Loren, with is a grilled roast beef, onions, pepper jack, and green chili sandwich. It was excellent. I would definitely visit Alpine Alley again.

Great little cute small town restaurant. And thy serve espresso drinks!!! I started with a latte. Thy did not have oatmilk. It was noon but I still wanted bfast. Ordered their 2 eggs and added chopped green chilies on top. My meat choice was delicious patty sausage. Came w toast and papitas. Unfortunately wat thy offer as papitas is only cut up potatoes. Not sure why thy call cut up potatoes papitas. Just call them wat thy are. One waitress taking care of everything orders, serving, cashier was very nice. Wat I did get was good. I wud probably go back.

Cheerful & attentive staff! Great eats are worth the wait. Personalized menu if you want. Dirty chai latte with Faye's twist. Linda's pastries are yummy for the tummy, all real ingredients.

I absolutely love this place! Been here a couple times while enjoying the wonderful scenery on motorcycle rides. The food is fresh, just like home cooking. Today, after being chilled by the morning air, sitting next to the fireplace was wonderful.

My friend had to be in Albuquerque and I had a 5 hour drive south but we decided we wanted to have breakfast in the historical Schafer Inn before we left even though it didn't open until 10. We arrived about 10:10 and the doors were still locked. Thankfully the very nice La Galeria next door was open. Linda Marie was so nice to give us the history of the Schafer Inn while we waited. The hotel opened 30 minutes late and the only employee (wearing both cook and waitress hats) was one the phone almost the entire time we were there. We gave her our orders. My friend ordered huevos rancheros and I asked for one egg over easy and a piece of bacon. Our drinks were water for my friend and I asked for tea. I should have been more specific since I got iced tea instead of hot tea but I figured it was my error. Eventually we're were given our breakfasts. They were inedible. I was given the basic breakfast even though I had asked for just one egg and one piece of bacon. Again, it wasn't a big deal. However the eggs were cold as well as everything that was on my plate. The hash fries did not even resemble potatoes. They were dried out and rock hard. The bacon was microwaved and was also devoid of any moisture. It was inedible! The toast was cold and the jelly was brown in color but was a name brand grape jelly. My friends breakfast was a total mess, cold and also inedible. How difficult is it to make breakfast? I have never had such a horrible meal. McDonalds would be considered gourmet next to this meal. I would rate it as minus since I ate none of mine and the waitress made it clear she didn't want to be there. It's such a shame since it's a lovely town and the building itself is a true gem. Shame on the Schafer for charging for inedible food

I spent most of the previous day cycling East from amazing Quemada on US60, so a refreshing/regenerating overnight was essential. Obviously, I needed an equally refreshing/energizing start and this cafe--now named "Evetts" (formerly Espresso)--was the absolutely the BEST place to start! Besides unique/fresh/nutritious meals, I was almost shocked and delighted to learn that affogato was available. When biketouring/travelling, this is one of the greatest morning treats I've ever had--not only plenty of needed caffeine, and (¡probably unneeded!) sugar. I enjoyed other filling dishes before continuing my Eastern direction on US60 to SocorroNM. I didn't cycle away immediately--Magdalena is such an attractive/"unknown/undiscovered" community in which the history lives on with the structures restored/repurposed! The abandoned tracks have a great roadbed waiting for more full development/hiking-biking trail for use by locals and long-distance enthusiasts alike. ¡This is such a tremendous community, and I look forward to returning--I'll plan to stay at least TWO nights for a full experience! It definitely has my coveted "iWheel of Approval!" ¡Highly recommended'
