I wrongly assumed Alpine clocks in Covington ,La. would be honest. the father/son operation ripped me off to the tune of $ 650 by saying their clock repair has no warranty. Alpine Clock repair in Covington, La. charged $ 650 for clock repair and when I brought the clock back (because it didn't work), the kid said they don't honor any warranty on their clock repair. There is a horologist in Baton Rouge that is honest but Alpine clock repair in Covington is dishonest. read more

Please don't waste your TIME or money on Alpine Clocks. This father and son operation is not capable of repairing a sun dial. They had our grandfather clock for over a year, kept saying "these repairs take time." Trying to get any information over the phone about the work progress is a waste of time too. It had a small problem when they took it. But when we demanded it be returned, they had damaged the pendulum, replaced the chime tubes in reverse order, installed the weights backwards, had their hand/fingerprints all over the brass and now the clock doesn't chime or strike and the tarnished brass looks awful. I would give them a ZERO rating if it were possible. read more

Had very bad service here. Would give zero stars if possible. Run don't walk away! I had actually thought that it was just me that had such horrible service with alpine. After reading some of the other stories I felt I should further clarify my comment and thank my lucky stars that they didn't nail me harder. I brought an antique family heirloom clock in, they kept it for seven months. When I started feeling something was wrong I went and told them I wanted my clock back. The guy started giving me a song and dance and did not want to return my clock. Claiming he was almost "through" with it. I wound up paying him what he claimed, paying ransom for my clock. I knew I had to get my clock out of there. It still did not work. I took it to another clock person who wrote down what they found to be wrong with the clock. Original parts had been replaced with cheap stuff that would NEVER have worked, Original chains had been replaced with a cheap replacement, They did however leave the antique 'S' hooks on the clock that the original chains hung on that had the patina that looked the same as my chain that was missing. The nut that held the hands had been removed and replaced with a left handed nut that was cross threaded and cinched down so hard that the hands could not even be moved manually. The hammer was twisted and bent. The clock person showed me where the hammer had been striking the bell for over 100 years and now if it were to work it would not strike nowhere near where it has been striking for generations. I could go on but I wound up losing a family heirloom and having to pay almost $400.00 for the "privilege". I count myself lucky. I could have had a very expensive large Grandfather clock at their mercy. I hope that by writing this review it may save someone else the misery and loss I encountered when dealing with these people. read more

Do not take anything that is valuable to you to this place. I don't usually waste my time leaving reviews but this place was horrible. Not only could they not give you any wild guess at a range of time that your repair would be finished, they are scam artists. I took in an antique watch to have the crystal replaced. That's it! The watch ran fine. They called back a month later to tell me that if I wanted my $300 watch to run, that it would cost me $350. After losing my mind, the watch miraculously works despite having to pay over $100 for a replacement crystal. These guys are horrible. read more

do not take anything you treasure to this company. we left an antique wall clock with him 2 years and three months ago, so said he was fixing it. he gave us every excuse under the sun as why he could not fix our clock. we two 50 mile trips to his store trying to get the clock back to no avail. the third trip we were going to call the police to get the clock back. again , we had to hear all his sing songs about why he dropped the ball and never fixed our clock. we immediaely took it to another clock smith and were told that all the parts are not in the clock and the clock was in pieces . he proclaimed that he changed bushings and no new bushings were installed. we also left a $103.00 deposit with the idiot for nothing to ever have been done but take apart the clock and loose parts, or use them on another clock, we feel we have been sabatoged 100 percent. shame shame shame on you alpine clocks. read more

4 minutes ago I have been going through hell with this place. I have had a cuckoo clock with them since 2012. For the first 2 years, I kept getting the run around on why it was not fixed. At that point, I told the owner, Micheal, that I would just come and pick up my clock. Miraculously the very next day it was fixed, go figure. At this point I was contemplating just telling Micheal to take everything out from it that he supposdly fixed and I would juat take it to a reliable place because all trust had been lost at this point. When I was ready to come pick it up. Come to find out that Michael is no longer there and there was this huge ordeal between the family and the Business. I was told he stole all kinds of money and thats why he was gone. Pwrsonally, I didn't care. For all I knew, he was probably lying. I went ahead and started making payments for the work that was supposedly done. When I was ready to go get it I now is faced with being told that somebody had stolen it amd Micheal, the owner again, was back and he told me that the man that I was dealing with that was his supposed family member was the one who was stealing things. At this point I'm furious.This is a clock that is over 100 years old people.....this was not some random clock I found at Wal-Mart. This was in 2014. Apparently they're still dealing with this issue and my clock along with supposedly 10 other peoples are stolen by this former family employee and is now refusing to give them back. So it's 2020 and apparently this is still going on and if it's not going to be this story it's going to be a completely different one. These people, especially the owner Micheal, are extremely shady and this is the reason why people don't support local businesses anymore. He even went to the extent to blame me and said he tired getting a hold of me after he "fixed it" so I could come get it. Treveri honest when I walked in this place to get my antique cuckoo clock service I got a knot on my stomach when I met Michael and I should have listened to myself. I should have listened to myself when I knew that something wasn't right and there was something really weird going on.Every time I call to try and find out what's going on I'm told that the clock has been found and I'm about to get it back or that the family member that supposedly has stolen them is refusing to give them back now and they're waiting on the courts to pan out everything. DO NOT GO HERE. Please tell everyone who is thinking about coming here or has a clock that they're needing to be serviced to not go here because of this very reason . Something that had been in the family for 100 years will go missing. If you're one of the people that has a clock that is supposedly stolen or maybe you've been told the same stuff that I have just written lawyer up and sue. read more

took pocket watch there to be fix took 7 months to get back they told me that it was hard to get parts for watch told them i wanted my watch back they said couldn't give to me because it was in pieces . very rude owner and son when after i got watch back one day later the hand fell off took watch back and the guy said I drop the watch to make hand come off I told him that didn't happen. so he said he would fix it didn't here from them for three weeks i went to store and wanted my watch back he call me a couple days later to come get it. i pick it up and still didn't work he said come back he had to looked at it some more i paid 300 dollars to fix the watch and still is broken worse company i had ever dealt with someone needs to shut this place down. i have read some reviews on the company and a lot of them are similar to mine read more

Took an automatic watch there to be serviced. When we received it back the watch was still not working properly, and the second hand had been bent out of shape and the band clasp had been so bent that the manufacturer recommended replacement. When we pointed this out to Alpine, they denied doing the damage and claimed it was fixed. Sent the watch to the manufacturer for repair to fix what Alpine failed to fix, and to fix what Alpine screwed up. Never let these people near your watch! They don't stand behind their guarantee and they will screw up your watch. We considered buying a grandfather clock from them but there is no way in hell we would do that now. Don't waste your time!! After reading other reviews I realized I should have never brought my watch to be repaired there. I brought my husband's watch for repair before Thanksgiving. The second hand on the watch stopped moving. You could do a manual rewind but then 10-15 min later it would stop again, thus affecting the minute and hour hand movement. We had the battery replaced and when that didn't work we thought a watch repair shop would be the next stop. I pick up the watch at the beginning of December. They come out the back of the show room and the watch is working. 30 minutes later it's stopped again. I bring it back the next day and explain what happened and stated that was my original complaint. Some cocky young guy winds it up, hands it back to me, then smugly says "well it's working now". I tell him it's going to stop again and please recheck it. He tells me come back if it does. I come back again the next day, I know... I should have known, and ask them to please fix it. I tell them I'm going to leave it with them so they can see how it starts/stops. Well, it's February first and I still have no watch. I have repeatedly called and gone to the shop in person. Every dang time they tell me it's not in the store but with their watch repair guy??? Whaat? I thought you were the watch repair people? Then they told me the watch repair guy doesn't work the whole month of December. You mean to tell me you took my watch at the beginning of December, lied to me when I would call for a check up that it was getting repaired, and now you're telling me the repair guy has been off a month. I haven't had the watch the whole month of January either. I almost feel like I'm going to have to threaten with police involvement to get back stolen property. After reading other reviews I'm reading the same thing........ they never return property. If it is not resolved next week I'm contacting the BBB. Ridiculous!!! read more

I recently inherited a mantle clock from my grandparents. It was in bad shape. It did not run and was very dirty and black from my grandpa smoking a pipe for most of his life. I did not think there was a chance of fixing it, but said what the heck, can't hurt to take it in a see what can be done. The man at the counter was very helpful and explained the type of clock I had and when it was made. It was from the 1800's and had some value. He later called me with the estimate to fix the clock. It was not cheap, but sounded fair for the amount of work he had to do. When I picked up the clock after being repaired I was astounded and amazed. I almost did not recognize the clock. It was beautiful. The dirt and black was gone. Somehow they were able to bring out the beautiful varied tones of color in the wood and it shined. The chimes are no longer clunking and have gorgeous deep tones. It also keeps perfect time. Which I thought was amazing for a clock over one hundred years old. I am so pleased with the people at Alpine for giving me back a treasure that means so much to me since it was my grandparents. I highly recommend them to everyone. They have earned my business and will return to them for all my watch and clock needs. read more
