Big rip off and terrible customer service. They will charge you a premium for repairs that they get to after 3 weeks or longer. Then, they don't call you to tell you its done. 2 of my friends and me dropped our computers to get hard drives replaced. They did not tell us that the operating systems are not compatible with ANYTHING!! Then you try to sell or trade the computer with them and they say its not worth anything! My iPhone 7 was charging intermittently or not charging at all. Took it in the shop and out with a perfectly working device within 5 minutes. Brandon looked at it and took out some lint from the charging port and tested it and handed it back with a big smile. I was thankful that he fixed it but he did not charge anything! My printer went down&had2print some documents asap. The library is closed Monday so i went to alpine computers. Brandon was helpful HOWEVER, the fees are simply outrageous!!! They charge .25 min for the internet usage. Then another .25 cents per page to print. By the time i walked outta there i had spent over$20. These guys are great. I called up thinking I needed to get my mom a mouse because the track pad on her macbook stopped working. They said come in straight away the battery is swelling and at some point it could explode. I took it in, they opened it up and sure enough the battery was swollen. As soon as the battery was out the track pad worked again. It was great. No charge and no attempt to sell me anything else. Saved me having to drive to Reno for Apple to tell me the computer was obsolete and they couldn't do anything. read more

I should have read the other 1 star reviews before coming here. Been a computer user for about 23 years, so been to few repair shops, this was by far my worst experience in 23 years. I have powerful Toshiba laptop, 12 gigs of Ram, 3.2 ghz processor, and it stopped powering up, so I brought it in, expecting that the cable between power button and mother board came loose, so they'd open it up and connect it or replace it. I was told that they only have one tech guy Chris, who is out, so he'd look following day. Following day, I got a call from Chris, who said that laptop looks really old, and he doesn't recommend fixing it, and that he is not even going to look at it. I was like...it's just power button...he said if you want complete restoration, he could give me a quote, but it'll be expensive, otherwise I should just buy a new laptop and he'd do memory transfer for $129. I am glad I have enough common sense not to buy into such BS...most people would probably believe such an "expert". Long story short, I picked up the laptop that they didn't even care to open up and diagnose, and called another tech guy in town, who came over my house, opened the laptop, reconnected the cable from mother board to power button, took him less than 30 mins, he charged me $40, and that was it. The laptop is working perfectly. Also, their used laptops in store are WAY overpriced...they are selling a used laptop that shows some wear for $549, which they reduced from $599, and exact same refurbished laptop in pristine condition with zero wear costs $369 on Amazon. Today was the second time I just stopped in to Alpine Computers with a problem. The first was with my iPhone 5 which needed a battery change. Chris changed the battery and when I came back an hour later I paid for the new battery, but there was no service charge. Today I stopped in with my iPad. My server had been taken over by an amazing offer of $1000, but would not allow me out of the site unless I clicked OK. Chris, in a matter of two minutes, got rid of the virus and cleaned out the server. He did not charge me for doing this! Awesome!! read more

10 out of 10 would not recommend or ever return. Worst customer service/computer tech experience I have ever had. First, the guy never called me back to tell me what the problem was before ordering the part he "thought" my Macbook Pro needed. Then, when I tried to get in touch with them, they couldn't find my computer for TWO DAYS. Then they tried to tell me that I brought it in under a different name when I had proof of the date I brought it in and the name on the receipt. When they finally found it, in was in multiple pieces, and the guy working the front desk tried to tell me that if I really needed it that I could take it home and to bring it back when the part came in - and the whole reason I brought it in is because it didn't charge or turn on...when I finally got it back, they quoted me $499 or more to replace the motherboard because apparently it was fried. The next day my boyfriend turns it on, does a hard reset, and it works just like new. I have to wonder if he knows what the hell he is doing, if he was trying to get money from me because I'm a girl, or if he just doesn't give a shit. Either way, I saved myself almost $500 by having a boyfriend with more common sense than a tech guy. read more

Seemed nice and competent, but they screwed up ordering the parts as discussed. There was no fast shipping available so I ended up waiting 15 days (!) to get my computer back...and it wasn't fixed. They didn't even bother to clean my computer--there were greasy fingerprints all over the screen. I can't recommend them and will go elsewhere. read more

I needed a PCIe card for an HP Slimline computer. I ordered the card through Alpine and they ordered a regular PCI card which was too big. They told me to take the metal plate off the end to see if I could make it fit. It didn't work so I took the unused card and the receipt back to Alpine. They refused to refund my money and since the card was the wrong one and I couldn't use it - they kept it. After doing business with Alpine, I am out the money, out the part and don't have a working computer. They educated me that I should never do business with their store as I will lose my money and receive no help or professionalism from them. Take your business elsewhere. read more

This guy put a screen on my phone. Once it was not put on successfully because he didn't know what he was doing with my iPhone 6, he STOLE my click bar which makes my button click. Took it to apple since I live in SF and not only did they take that but, they never put back the 2 screws on the very bottom of the phone. Don't go here! RED FLAG! I'm horribly upset because he took over a hour to take it apart. Took my parts and didn't do what he said. BAD BUSINESS. This business will steal your parts. They think you won't notice! I had to search hard for a new click bar and screws. Apple won't provide it since this place is aftermarket crap. Don't come here. Brought my PC in to have a new hard drive installed. I also brought in the Windows Operating System cd that came with the computer. The guy Chris said that he didn't need my copy of Windows and he would install his own version of Windows. I thought this was odd and questioned him on it. He guaranteed me that there would be no problems with his copy... Everything was running great until Windows ran an update and found that I'm using a "not genuine" copy of Windows. Wtf ! Why would he insist on installing a bogus/counterfeit copy of Windows when I had the real thing in my hand?? Seems very shady... read more

Alpine Computers was contracted to repair my son's laptop. I had given the technician explicit instructions for the repair, as I am an IT professional myself, but the tech failed to follow instructions. The tech had to redo the Windows7 installation a 2nd time for which I was charged an additional $60 for labor, having paid $256.70 for the disk install/recovery the 1st time. 3 months later the disk failed yet again, and was told to contact the manufacturer for a RMA replacement disk. Else if Alpine Computers did the RMA and reinstalled a replacement disk, I would be charged additonal labor even after being told there was a 5yr warranty on the disk. read more

Picture this: hardworking, naive, & pregnant young woman is about to have her 21st birthday. She can't celebrate in the normal manner, so decides to get her MacBook repaired which has been in desperate need for some time. She takes it to alpine computers-- mistake #1. She tells them how much she's willing to spend before it's not worth it to her-- mistake #2. Guess what? It's going to cost her exact price limit! Amazing. With regret & dismay I must tell you mistake #3-- she leaves her computer with alpine!!! Dun dun Dunnn. -----Now, let's have a run down of the wretchedness that ensued, shall we? There was a pretty easy list of things to be done: a good cleaning so it runs faster, Install new software & order a new battery. Guy said a couple days to a week & 1/2 tops-- he would call soon with a more precise pick-up date. About a week later he actually calls- they have done none of the work and ordered none of the necessary components. It's going to take another week or two-- wait for our call. 2 weeks & several ignored phone calls/voicemails go by before she finally gets ahold of someone-- oh yeah they've done none of the work & ordered none of the parts. As per usual it's "the other guys fault." Several weeks, & many ignored calls/voicemails later she hobbles In To rescue her poor computer. Apparently it's been "done" for "awhile." -- "it's the other guys fault" she wasn't informed & no one is capable of using a telephone. -----------She takes it home. . . And it works worse than before! How can this be? The brand new battery also doesn't work. -- what?!? A couple days pass and the computer slowly but surely stops for good.- ------ fast forward almost a year. It's brought to another man who restores it to its former glory in a day flat. The cleaning alpine was supposed to do? Didn't happen. The software they installed? Corrupted. The battery they charged full apple retail value for? Was a BROKEN 25$ knock-off. They couldn't even give a girl a knock-off that worked!! ------IN SHORT, if you like to do business with people who knowingly & purposefully cheat young pregnant girls out of their birthday presents, alpine computers is for you. If you like to pay top dollar for your belongings to be returned to you In worse shape then they start out out, alpine computers is for you. If you like excuses, lies, the run-around & your calls going unanswered, alpine computers is for you.
