Her work is meticulous and expert-level, but what I appreciate most is her warmth. She makes you feel like family from the moment you sit down. My family has been going to Alpine Dental Center in Thornton with DR. ALAN GURMAN for many years, and we can't recommend him and his staff highly enough. My daughter had a serious accident as a child that resulted in years of dental procedures. Dr. Gurman was there giving excellent care every step of the way. He often met us at the office on weekends for emergency care and was always so kind and knowledgeable. I felt the need to write a review for Alpine Dental Center because I will no longer be able to use their services because of distance. I have been going to Alpine for 10 years. Dr. Gurman and his staff are nothing short of wonderful. Donna is the best dental hygienist I have ever had. She's friendly, caring, and has a genuine interest in who you are a person. I will miss her dearly. Even though I only saw those people a few times a year, I enjoyed waking up early and being the first appointment of the day. Dr. Gurman has gone above and beyond for me as well. After a crown came off on a Saturday night, he met me at his office on Sunday to re-attach it. Something he definitely did not have to do, but did not hesitate to do. Long story short, if you live up north and are looking for a reliable, great, dentist office. This is your place. read more

If you're new patient and looking to get a regular teeth cleaning, do not come here. Complete waste of my time. This is one of those sleezy/sales-oriented dentists that are more concerned about upselling than the actual patient and their needs. I specifically called and made an appointment for a regular cleaning.....instead I was poked for an hour and did around 20 minutes of x-rays. After all of that (which was over my lunch break), they sat me down with the hygienist and dentist (for what definitely came across as a sales pitch) to talk about scheduling a series of 4 deep clean appointments, which are pretty pricey. I've moved around a lot in my adult life, but have always kept up to date on my biannual dental visits, which is to say I've been to see several different dentists in various cities, and while I've liked some more than others, I've never felt as uncomfortable and taken advantage of than I did with Dr. Elton. I was due for a 6-month check-up and cleaning right after relocating to Denver, before I really knew anyone I could ask for a dentist recommendation, so I went in blindly to find one in the downtown area. Alpine Dental had mostly good reviews and was in the area I was looking for, so against my better judgment I ignored the few negative reviews citing upcharging and unethical behavior, hoping they were just isolated incidents. Unfortunately, those reviews were spot on and I should have heeded their warning. When I called to make my first appointment I was informed that new patients have to come in twice: once for x-rays and a thorough examination/consultation, then a second time for the actual cleaning. That should have been my first warning that this is a practice that sets out to specifically find "problems" they can fix, rather than just doing exams and calling out issues that actually need attention. I went in for my first appointment and the hygienist took a ton of x-rays. Then Dr. Elton came in to go over the x-rays with me and proceeded to use every scare tactic in the book. He pointed out a couple of molars that have three roots instead of two, commenting that I need to be careful with those because they would be "a bear to remove." OK, didn't need to know that, and I take care of all my teeth the same amount, so there's nothing special I could do to "take care" of those. Then he pointed out areas where jawbone can deteriorate as a person ages. My jawbone was fine, but apparently I still needed to be warned about possible deterioration that could happen at some point, even though there's really nothing new I could do to try to prevent it anyway. Then he commented on some gum irritation I had surrounding a crown in the back of my mouth (an area that commonly gets irritated, hence why I keep up on professional cleanings), determined that I must have periodontitis and would need to get a professional "deep cleaning" that is apparently so painful you get novocaine to get through it (looking at other reviews, this deep clean is apparently an upsell he pitches to nearly all new patients). He noted a couple of older fillings I had that needed to be replaced, commenting that if I didn't do that and the tooth decay got worse, it could someday possibly cause early-onset dementia. And to cap it all off, when I mentioned chewing (sugarless) gum after meals when brushing isn't an option, he replied that excessive gum chewing can sometimes lead to jaw dislocation. Seriously. In the end he came up with a list of work I "needed" that would take seven visits to complete. I immediately went home, had a panic attack, and decided to seek a second opinion. This time I got a dentist recommendation from someone, and after researching them and finding not one single negative review anywhere, made an appointment with them and had Alpine send me my x-rays to share with the second dentist. At that appointment, the dentist went through my x-rays, did their own thorough exam of my mouth, and reviewed Dr. Elton's laundry list of recommended procedures, and the only thing they agreed on was replacing the older fillings I had that were starting to crumble. They determined I do not have periodontitis and recommended an anti-gingivitis mouthwash that will help with the irritation that can happen around my crown. And then they professionally cleaned my teeth. All in one visit! Imagine that! If you're not already a happily established patient at Alpine Dental, I highly suggest finding a dentist elsewhere, as all the other negative reviews here commenting on new patients being taken advantage of completely matched my extremely unpleasant experience. The front desk staff was very friendly and the facility is nice, which is what I'll assign Yelp's mandatory one star to. read more

I disagree with the opinions of the prior reviewers. I've even asked the Alpine Dental staff about the 1-star reviews listed here on Yelp, and the bottom line is that you're only hearing one side of the story on these complaints. Yes, I too have been coming to Alpine Dental ever since it was Dr. Gregory Grossman's practice. I was also skeptic once Dr. Borowicz took over the practice, but he's grown on me and really does have good intentions when it comes to your dental health. Example #1: During one of my first cleanings with Dr. Borowicz, he noticed that the sealants on some of my back molars had worn off and he recommended that I get new sealants on them. He said that it would help eliminate exposure to the teeth and protect from them from cavities. Well, I turned him down of the offer and said "No thanks." Guess what happened? I came in 6 months later for my next check-up, and sure enough I had a cavity. Lesson learned. Example #2: During another one of my visits with Dr. Borowicz, he took x-rays and noticed that two of my crowns were discolored on the inside, showing signs of potential infection. He recommended that I set up an appointment with Dr. Kott over at Endodontics of Denver (who I also recommend) to further examine the two teeth. Well, long story short, Dr. Borowicz was right. I ended up needing two root canals in order to clean out the infections inside my teeth. If Dr. Borowicz didn't recommend me to go get my two teeth checked out, I never would have done it. The infection would have spread and caused more serious issues. Example #3: I had two crowns put into my teeth about 9 years ago, and they just don't look as aesthetically pleasing as they used to. I knew that it was time to get new crowns, so Dr. Borowicz helped work with me through the process. I visited the PDA Dental Lab to have photos taken of my teeth, and Dr. Borowicz worked with the lab to ensure that the new crowns were the right color to match with my teeth. The first set of crowns sent over to Alpine Dental didn't look perfect, so Dr. Borowicz and I chose to send them back and have adjustments made. They really do care here at Alpine Dental. Dr. Borowicz wanted me to be 100% happy with my crowns before permanently cementing them in with the rest of my teeth. In conclusion, Dr. Borowicz and the rest of the Alpine Dental team are friendly, professional, and are looking out for your best interests. I was surprised that they would not try to get Me in last week for a cleaning as a new patient at the end of the year . . I was also wanting to discuss future dental work at the time I would have a cleaning . This would have been to their advantage to discuss . I know I was late in the year in asking for a cleaning, but it appeared they did not make any effort to assist me in any way . Was treated with welcome arms, I had a chipped tooth that was fixed and looks perfect the only downfall was I wasn't told how much the procedure was until it was completed which thankfully I had the cash, other then that very recommended. read more

As much as I dislike going to the dentist, Alpine is the best dentist office I have been to. The people are super nice and professional. They seem to be very intuitive with changes in tech. Their records are all digital including X-rays. And they will text you to confirm appointments which is quite convenient when you don't want to talk to people. Overall very pleased with regular visits. They make the dentist visit quite pleasant. read more

It was my first time there today and I couldn't have been any happier! I'm used to having to wait a LONG time at dentist offices before getting to see anyone. I arrived 15 minutes early and was immediately taken back to start my exam. The doctor and his staff are extremely nice and personable. RUN FAR AWAY. Worst experience of my life. I recently moved to denver and was looking for a new dentist. The dentist told me I had 7 CAVITIES!! (I've had one in my entire life) I then went back to lincoln to my normal dentist to check on this after I had a panic attack and he confirmed I HAVE ZERO!!!!! This sleeze ball was trying to scam me for $700 out of my pocket plus some from insurance. This place and the dentist is a joke. read more

I was visiting Denver from out of town and had chipped my tooth on some food that I had for lunch. I called a couple of dental offices and was told that my needs would have to wait until the following week (this happened on a Friday, later in the day). I called Alpine Dental Health and was able to get right in and seen by the dentist within the hour. Dr. Wade was absolutely awesome and very personable. I appreciated the time he took to make my tooth look the best it could be. He drew a diagram and explained my options and told me what he would want done to his own teeth. I can appreciated the fact that he treated me like family and did not try selling me on other more expensive options that would have yielded a less than perfect kind of result. I would recommend Alpine Dental Health to anyone looking for a thorough a friendly dentist. The front desk and dental staff all deserve 5 stars. Dr. Gurman and his staff treated me like I was an old friend whom had been visiting his practice forever even though I went my first time this year. They were quick and very friendly during my exam and cleaning...I signed up for their year-long discount program, which includes two cleanings and a percentage off dental work. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because I've been promised teeth desensitization product a couple times and haven't received it...I should probably just call and ask for it again! read more

Dentist seemed very unknowledgeble and front desk assistance was more than rude. Spent 3 visits trying to get a checkup, cleaning and root canal...cleaning never was performed and dentist tried to send me to a specialist for the root canal after already opening the tooth, hence that was not taken care of either. I've been to Alpine Dental for a year now and have had a really good experience. My hygenist is more knowledgeable than others I've had in the past - she answers all my questions, makes recommendations and I trust her. Dr. Borowicz is awesome - so friendly and professional. It's sad how some people use social media to be dramatic because it's anonymous and unfairly hurt the reputation of decent honest people in business. read more
