We took a break from camping in Lassen to visit Burney Falls and Lake Britton. On the way back we stopped at Safeway for supplies and here for lunch. Was driving through this area, not much choice to eat other than McDonalds so I decided to Yelp and found the Alpine Drive Inn. Reviews were pretty good so I checked it out. Prices were a little high in my opinion for the type of place but with not much competition I guess you can charge what you want. The food tasted good, my only thing is why places that sell Fish and Chips still insist on calling them chips when they're actually fries. There is a difference. I'm getting hungry just thinking about what I'll say in this review. After hiking Burney Falls, my boyfriend and I ate here before settling in for the night during a recent road trip. The food was delicious. We ordered cheese burgers, tots, and a shake. It was the best post-hike food we could ask for. Employees were really nice and patient. Food is great for this type. Hot dogs were huge and tasty and served with all the works. Burgers were great. Fish and chips were too greasy. Fish sandwich was okay. For the sides, the garlic fries were great and so were the crisps. The tots were okay and the onion rings were too greasy. The chocolate dipped ice cream was awesome and so were the shakes. I had the Logger 1/4 lb. burger. It was the BEST burger I've ever had in my life! It was huge. It was tender. It was perfectly cooked to the core. It was delicious and what surprised me the most -- it was juicy until the very last bite! My hubby had fish & chips. We loved it. It was light and crispy without being heavy on the dough or grease. The fries were not spectacular. That's probably worth half a star off. The banana split was classic and the soft-served cone was huge. I am looking forward to visiting again! read more

The food is so good here, took me back to my favorite burger place in the fifties. Four adults had hamburgers, we shared an order of garlic fries. Everything was made to order to perfection. I had a banana shake so good I didn't need to order desert. I did not think the wait was overly long, all the food was ready at the same time. Prices were fair. The day before we picked up a couple turkey sandwiches for a picnic. They were bursting with turkey, fresh lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo, pickles and the fresh roll was really good. Likewise, if you want a chain burger, have no patience to wait, or want to talk to a stranger ... head on down the street! But, I you have a smile inside when you think of an honest burger, good fries, great onion rings this is the place to go! The young ladies and gentlemen that work there will laugh and smile if you do the same. I have been coming here since I worked a summer at the USFS Hat Creek insect lab 42 years ago. Checked this place after McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park. What a rewarding burger after a rewarding drive to some gorgeous falls. Total was 23.11 and upon receiving the receipt to sign for the total, I noticed it was 32.11. After asking the very kind cashier informed me she entered 23.11 onto the card reader and it'd be okay. Checked my bank account and I had 32.11 being processed. Not THAT big of a deal especially since they refunded me the $10 in cash (gave me 9 bucks back instead but okay...). The onion rings and chicken strips were super fresh and hot. The club sandwich reminded me of a mc chicken and the double burger like a mc double. Okay, I've gone to this place for about 10 years (periodically of course), I always got the "baby" burger since their usual burgers are just to big for me to finish, and when you're paying $6 for a burger you won't finish that's a waste of food and money, so I order my baby burger (which had been my staple for at least 6 years) it comes out flat as a freaking crepe; super thin and charred it tasted disgusting, it was plain burnt. I ask for it to be remade and I'm told by a cook I've never seen before "THATS HOW THEYRE SUPPOSED TO BE, SO THATS WHAT YOULL GET" this place changes owners to often for me to even keep up with, I'm over it, VERY VERY VERY rarely do we come here and it's typically only when family comes up and wants a good milkshake, this place is good for milkshakes and onion rings, I hate to say it but I'd rather grab a McDonald's cheeseburger over this place any day read more

My grandma lives in the area and we usually love stopping by for the quick yummy food. I put one star for the awesome portions but jeez!! $40 later for three people to eat fast food is crazy to me. Everything is sold separately so you can't order anything as meals. The managers are verbally abusive & harrass tenants. Don the manager, yells, says shut up, & swears. They harrassed me over my brand new bike, locked to post in my space. His wife, refused to write me rent reciept, for $600.00 , for tiny camper, saying, "come back later"! They phone harrassed me daily, for no reason, even calling my sister, Captain Quill, of the fire dept, to States away trying to interrupt her, as she was saving lives. The small camper, was not worth the price, as the toliet very seldom flushed, and no central propane heating, so you freeze. If you plug in more than two items, it would trip the switch, & it required a work request over & over. Many of the tenants were constantly harrassed over nothing, making it uncomfortable to live there. The maintance man wore the same dirty sport shorts for 2 months! read more

I spend many weeks in Burney each year and have done so the past 12 years, but have never stopped in on Alpine for a burger. I have been now twice and had different burgers. A decent cheeseburger, the Logger is a big 1/2 pound and filled me up with a side of fries. My family also gave the thumbs up. They cook to order so be patient, but fresh made is good right? The milk shakes are tasty and they look to use real ingredients. Burgers, fries and sodas for three was $35, a bit pricey for that type of food, but it is important to support local family owned businesses and again, the food is pretty solid. Not a 5 star due to price and that they still use foam cups which are a big water pollutant. Burney is ground zero for robust trout, so please reconsider serving in foam cups. read more

Working in Burney, stopped in here for dinner on the way to the motel. The food is good quality overall, and worth the money over going to the fast food chain down the street. Otherwise, it's just another burger joint. Chili Cheese fries use nacho cheese, judging by the flavor and that it was still gooey when I got to eating it 15 minutes later. Burger was surprisingly good and definitely a good value. For the limited number of open things in the area, it's a safe bet to go here. read more
