But, she also said that because of the ERM I was not a candidate for lasik surgery to correct my vision (I had previously had cataract surgery, which gave me much better, tho not perfect, vision.) So, I thought I would get my ERM situation looked at again, and also get a 2nd opinion re: lasik. Dr. Harrell at the Hastings location was a great choice. I had never been to Advanced Eyecare Professionals before, but the online reviews were good. The patient intake was right on time -- no waiting. The assistant was friendly and did preliminary questions and testing. The doctor arrived immediately afterward. And, the exam was thorough. Could not ask for any better care as a patient/customer. Turns out that he said lasik would be perfectly OK, medically. But, the adjustment needed might be too small to warrant the expense and the risk involved in surgery. He proposed another option (which I did not know existed for those who had had IOL replacement surgery): progressive lenses that would allow me to see both distance and reading. So, that is what I will try first. I do highly recommend this office for eyecare.

Took them back and re-explained the issue. Did an exam which showed I was correct. Lenses sent back and corrected. This past July I dropped off frames to get new lenses. Explained again and was told I was overdue for an exam. I stated this prescription was working perfectly and was not necessary. He looked up my cover​age in VSP, said "You've got good insurance and your exams are free." Turned down the exam. Not necessary. Prescription fine. Paid my deductible. Next morning, he calls me dayong the insurance company turned it do​wn without an exam and wanted yo schedule an exam. I turned it down and told I'd be in to p/u my frames and refund. I immediately called VSP who stated they received yhe request that's pending and did not/would not tell them that. I returned and picked up my frames and refunded copy. If I was told it was their policy, I can respect that. He lied blaming VSP to get the "FREE" exam out of my insurance company on top of the $600 sum lenses. I will mot do business with a dishonest retailer. The exam every two years is a recommendation not a requirement per VSP.​​​ ​​​ I will give someone else the "FREE" exam who doesn't lie to me to get it cause VSP will pay it. And we wonder why healthcare costs are up?

The first few weeks my vision was at 20/20, and now after 1 month I'm able to see 20/15 which is better than 20/20! The team is super accommodating and helpful. One time I thought I had an emergency and contact the doctor during the weekend, and he was able to ensure everything was fine and it was a common effect I was feeling, and didn't get upset I contacted him on the weekend for something that turned out to be a false emergency. My only side effects currently are Halos, but I was told they should slowly dissipate in a few months so I'll probably update this review later on. But so far, best decision I've made and I HIGHLY recommend the premium charge at Keil's to ensure you're getting the best technology and care. I was the driver for this elderly woman, who is also in a wheelchair. In addition, I recently had shoulder surgery so operating with one arm, the other in a large sling. We arrived 9 minutes late, for an early morning appt, there were no other people in the waiting room, not even one. She simply said Doctor can't fit you in today he's very busy. You are 10 minutes late. At first I thought she was joking, due to that fact that we were the only ones in the waiting room. But she said no, you must reschedule. Absolutely ZERO compassion for this woman or what it takes to get to her to appointments. I apologized for being late, and asked if she could please try to fit her in.
