So I can't say anything for the gym itself, you can read other reviews for that. My kids wanted to go to a gym to work out and this one was close so we signed them up. After a couple of months they decided that it wasn't working with their schedule so they went in and cancelled, and signed the termination paper work. We were told we would've to pay 1 additional month for the cancellation which we knew about prior. The problem was they keep billing my account for months. After I noticed, and 4 additional months went by, I called and they said they would cancel the payment and refund those payments in error. The next month I got billed again so I called again, this time they said they removed the accounts so I can't get billed again and they would refund part of the payments in error but not all because they couldn't see all the payments on their side (they for sure came out of my bank account) and they couldn't find the termination papers we signed in person at the gym. For the partial refund she wanted my credit card number so she could do the refund. I asked if they could credit my bank account directly as that is how they took it out. She said she couldn't, only by credit card --there was no way I was giving them my credit card number so no refund. I guess they haven't heard of a check? I guess I will have to see if the payments stop. I will say the people I talked to were very nice, I asked for the owner (who signed us up) each time I called but he was never available. This seems to be a common occurrence per other reviews, so you may have issues when you try to cancel your membership--so beware. read more

It's a nice little gym I really enjoy the size because it has the all the things you need without the mass amounts of people. Friendly staff and they keep the place clean. Owner is only comes in early in the mornings and he's also pretty nice. Overall I'd say they have good equipment. However they don't have enough stuff working at a time for instance they only have 1 usable shower and one usable urinal in the men's bathroom. Also there are like 3 treadmills that have something broken, also broken water fountains. You'd think that the owner would put more money into maintaining and upgrading this gym. But the thing about this gym that makes me annoyed is their hours on the weekends because they close at 4 it's not an issue but I work early morning to midday and I'd love to go to the gym after work but they already are closed by that time. I wish they would push the time another hour or 2. membership is $40 a month which is a little bit more compared to commercial gyms however if you're a local then it makes sense. Overall I like this gym. Also there aren't any other regular gyms in alpine. All the other gyms run off selling workout classes which in my opinion is bs. read more

I have been weight training since I was 14 years old. Over the years I have been in some amazing gyms. My wife and I joined Alpine fitness about two months ago. Largely because it is a seven minute drive from our house. It is not so much that the staff is unfriendly as it is they completely ignore the members. The gym itself is quite small, and unless you are into free weights, the Machines are few and far between. For instance, one biceps machine. Zero triceps machines. There are three pulley stations, a ton of leg machines, Smith racks, bench press positions. I suppose the best thing I could say about it is that it is adequate. It could be amazing with just a few tweaks. For instance, there are three leg extension machines. Sacrifice one and bring in a hammer strength triceps machine. Your members would love you. read more

Very friendly staff, this gym is kept very clean, everyone is good about putting their weights back on the rack the gym is on the small side but it is packed with everything you need to get the body you striving to achieve. The owner is an ex bodybuilder competitor so there are tons of free weights. There is a cardio room with cycles, stair master and treadmills. There is ab stations to the left of the checkin counter. I like that the machines are organized by the types of workouts your doing for the day. All legs machines, chest machines etc etc. Like I said the owner is an ex bodybuilder and is passionate about bodybuilding which means you need to most importantly keep up on the diet. Welp with that said, he has a full on kitchen upstairs that offer full on meals you can purchase. Help yourself by going to the fridge and choosing a meal that is prepped. $$ (cash) He sometimes have baked goodies for sale at the front desk as well. Come take a tour if you have never been. We've gone to the Alpine Fitness Gym for 15 years. It's conveniently located in Alpine's Reginal Center which has ample and safe parking. It's owned and operated by Mike Dougless, a retired pro football player, and a heck of a good person It's spacious, well-equipped, ACed, and wonderfully clean with long hours, Monday through Sunday. It's open during most holidays. It's appropriate for young and old, builder builders, weight watchers, kids, seniors, and stretchers. The aerobics room is large and has about 30 bikes. The persons at the front desk actually do CLEAN THE BATHROOMS AND THE EQUIPMENT AND VACUUM REGULARLY. They are also helpful and encouraging. There's no screaming cursing or stinky people. People are almost always polite to each other. Occasionally, during rush hours, such as lunch on Monday through Friday, you may have to wait for equipment. Mike makes and sells dietic, nutritious, fresh, and delicious burritos and granola bars, among others, and sells them at incredibly low prices. Membership fees are modest and discounts are available for retired, military, educators, first responders, and others. read more

Its not the cheapest gym or the biggest but it's well worth it and not crowded. The equipment they have is great and shows a good knowledge of what works. Some gyms have a ton of weird crap that just takes up space. The last gym I was a member at was just to bright and the lights would shine directly in your eyes when on a bench. Not a problem here , perfect lighting , and the music is not nearly as bad as the last one lol. For location and overall feel from a new member I say A+. read more

The gym itself is great. Plenty of cardio, all the free weights and machines I need at $70/month for couples. They could use a 22.5 set of dumbbells for those of us stuck between 20 and 25 (i.e. me!), but otherwise no complaints about the equipment. The staff is friendly, too, which is nice, and the location is close to my house -- good motivation to keep coming! My issue is with some of the clientele. My motto is "Work out, or GET OUT!" This means you, blondie. Stop sitting on the machines, doing nothing, or chatting with your blonde friends. Stop checking your email or whatever it is you're doing on your iPhone. Facebook has no place in the gym. I'm trying to get in shape -- what are YOU here for? Typically I work around these types of morons, but it'd be nice if the staff would step in and say something, or maybe put up a sign like the ones they've got about wiping down the equipment after use. If you've been on a machine for longer than it takes me to do my whole workout, you are doing it wrong. read more

So if I could give less stars I would. The owner of this business should be ashamed of himself. Let's start with when COVID started. I understand that you had to close your doors. You should have stopped auto drafting people's accounts when you had to close your doors. We could not call you to try and cancel our auto drafts and put our accounts on hold. The second things opened back up I called to cancel my wife's account and stop my auto draft of my account. This did not happen, I was again charged for a subscription my wife hasn't used since March. I have repeatedly called to try and speak with the owner to try and get a refund for the 4 months I shouldn't have been charged but he is never there and never returns my calls. His employees say they will make sure he calls me tomorrow every tome I call. I have no issue with the staff, they are respectful and pleasant. The problem is the owner basically stole money from the pockets of people struggling through a pandemic. Shame on you sir, shame on you. I hope one day you have the decency to call me and have a conversation about how you will be refunding me for the 4 months you stole my money. read more

after finally getting a clue that i look like crap, i joined this gym. The first selling point was that it was only 10 min from my house. The hours are convenient, and they are really helpful. I have been going for a month and have lost 8 lbs. also, being overweight, i was worried that people would look down on me, but everyone from customers to employees have been very encouraging. UPDATE: i didn't know that at the end of my year membership it just continues to go on. In order to cancel this, you have to give 30 days notice IN PERSON! and i don't get my money back for the extra month they got out of me. The guy told me that it was on the contract i signed. I told him it would have been nice if the girl that signed me (and my friend) up, would have told me about this. Never had a gym do this before. so, yes, my fault for not reading the fine print. so, its my gift of 35 dollars to Alpine Fitness. I'll stick with Chuze. read more

I have been going to Alpine Fitness since January. I am very pleased with the facility and atmosphere. I have been a member of several gyms and have never really felt at home there....not the case with this one. This is a very good fit for me. Always clean, plenty of workout equipment and most of all my awesome personal Trainer...Tracie! A huge shout-out to her! She makes it fun and totally takes care of my "older" body. I have never done weight training before and I feel like I am getting strong again! The building looks like an elegant Mtn. lodge, has child care and a very good healthy restaurant inside too! Lots of free parking also.It is truly a joy to go here! Today it has been 1 year since I started going to Alpine fitness 1-8-2014!!! It is even better then it was 6 months ago. Same friendly staff and members and of course my personal trainer Tracie Gillette...she is a "Gem"! She is also one of the awesome "Spin" Trainers which I am working up to and want to do soon. It has been updated with decor, paint and some new machine's and looks great. Most important I am stronger, have lost weight and feel renewed! I Arthritis symptoms are gone and I am so much happier and full of energy. I also want to mention every so often on Tuesday mornings there is a little Trunk Show put on by a local Alpine business called Bella's Closet...you can even pick up some really cute fashion items for yourself or ? Mike is amazing. His gym is amazing. I have known mike for a long time. I never lived close enough to be a regular member but hired him to train me for a short time and I still follow the sheet he made for me with exercise and diet advice (20 years later). He is so motivating and I just love his food. I'm 43, 12 weeks pregnant with twins and I only crave his turkey and rice burritos. Oh my gosh.. he nailed it. Everything he preaches is simple, consistent, easy to implement and if you follow hopefully you can look as good as he does into your 60's. I can't say enough about how I admire him and loved the times I spent in the gym working out and also eating his delish food. Oh and the muffins!!!! OmG.... plus I always stayed lean when I ate his meals. Really fit and looked great. read more

I love Mikes classes and the spin class. They should enforce the "no fan Zone" some people don't like the fan blowing on them while they are sweating in a spin class. There is a row of bikes with fans behind them for the people who like fans. read more

Horrible personal trainers!! Paid thousands up front, I know better but they convinced me that I was getting an amazing deal! After my trainer would repeatedly leave me alone to chat with everyone in the gym, the owner refused any kind of refund! Mike (the owner) told me to try and sell it to someone else. Sorry, I'm not sure that I could take advantage of others as you did to me. Gym not too bad, but you are better off anywhere else. Can't give zero stars or I would. read more

The gym itself is fine. My issue is with the customer service. After moving out of state, I obviously had to cancel my membership. I sent a letter through the mail like they requested informing them that i had moved. Over the next two months I noticed that membership fees were still being deducted from my account. I called several times trying to get a refund on the fees that were withdrawn from my account after I canceled my membership. Needless to say, after a few phone calls and a promise to return my call, I haven't received my refund nor a call back from anyone and it has been 4 months since I canceled. At least they were kind enough to stop taking money out of my account after 2 months. It's only $70 but hey...it's my $70. read more

I have been a member for almost three months. The cost is reasonable with my senior citizen discount, it comes to $29 a month. They have Plenty of treadmills,and getting on one is never a problem. They are open very early in the morning,and stay upon till late at night. I was unsure how to use some of the weight machines,and one of the personal trainers Diana was very helpful in showing me how to use them,as well as setting up a personal workout schedule for me. The place is clean and the shower room is immaculate. I generally workout ther for about an hour and a half 5 days a week,and I have already noticed positive results,now it is up to me to continue. Wether you are a serious weight lifter,which I am not,or just a senior citizen trying to stay in shape, this place makes everyone feel welcome,which you do not always get in some health centers. My only complaint is that Mike is a Packers fan. read more

The gym is avg at best. It's alright for a good workout. Only reason it's still in bussiness is because it's the only gym in alpine.

I like this gym because it's convenient and I don't have to make trips down the hill to workout. The main complaint I have are they close way to early on the weekends (sat 5am-4pm, sun 5am-2pm) I find myself skipping workouts because of this. The other complaint is their drinking fountain, they just need to get a new one. read more

This used to be a decent, albeit tiny gym. It has degraded the past several years. Cardio machines are down for weeks, if not months. Elliptical machines are very old and are practically useless. TV in bathroowm out of commision for a year now. Faucets in sink( 2 out of three) were broken forever. Captive audience (only gym for 15 miles) is the only reason people stay. $40 per month...you gotta be kidding! CHUZE, CRUNCH are 10 times better, never crowded and state of the art machines. They are $9.99 per month and no $30 day quit notice! Get with the program, Mike, put away your duct tape and upgrade your old dilapidated equipment. Maybe you will get it when more people leave. read more

Reading these reviews as usual it's a mixed bad. Some love this gym and others want to destroy it. I've worked out in gyms around the world including Powerhouse, Golds, IAC and many privately owned gyms like Alpine Fitness. I was a member for close to 2 years and was befriended by many from all walks of life. The best part of working out in a public setting are the friendships you develop. Those relationships provide massive energy for getting it done in the weight room. I cancelled my membership two days ago after for the second time I had to listen to a lecture from the owner about spending too much time talking to the people who work the front counter. It seems showing respect and some level of kindness to people is against the rules in this gym. I'm not the type of person who walks away when someone wants to hear my opinion or discuss their latest school project. In any event I doubt any of my conversations lasted more than a minute and they never interfered with their work as the front counter is never busy. He seemed genuinely embarrassed during both conversations and let me know that Alpine in his opinion was a strange place occupied by strange people. The owner, Mike Douglas has in my opinion worked hard all his life and he deserves success from that hard work. I suspect his problem lies with some of his personal trainers who do little personal training but love making other people business their own without making any effort to know that person. I wish Mike Douglas success and I will miss my many friends from his gym. read more
