I've been a member of this Planet Fitness for over a year and have recorded parts of my workouts for nearly that entire time. I always make every effort to record only myself, avoid capturing other members, and keep my phone safely attached with a magnet rather than using a tripod or creating a tripping hazard. If someone walks into the frame, I simply redo the video. Today, an employee who has seen me record many times before told me that recording was no longer permitted. I also noticed a "No Recording" sign at the front desk that I had never seen before and appeared to have been posted recently. I did not argue with the employee or refuse to follow the rule, but I was extremely disappointed and decided to cancel my membership. I understand prohibiting recording in locker rooms, bathrooms, tanning areas, or anywhere that could violate another member's privacy. However, I was only recording myself on the fitness floor so I could track my progress, share exercises, and hopefully motivate others. I've also regularly tagged Planet Fitness in my videos, and Planet Fitness has even interacted with some of my posts. Had someone expressed concern about appearing in a video, I would have completely understood and made sure they were not included. A complete ban on recording, however, means this location no longer meets my needs. After being a loyal member for over a year, it was disappointing to have the rules suddenly change without any prior communication. Anyone who enjoys recording workouts, taking progress videos, or creating fitness content should be aware of this location's policy before joining. Some of the staff at Lakeside have crappy attitudes (rude) and poor customer service. There is always an issue when bringing a guest on black card. The bathrooms are always dirty, no soap or toilet paper. This location is always very crowded, people sitting on machines for long periods of time scrolling, oblivious to everything around them. Management should extend business hours. Also, the new set up sucks. I'll just go elsewhere. read more

mistreatment of paying customers is part of their business model. I have paid my bill on time since the day Planet Fitness opened. I never bother anyone and they staff, harasses me every time I go to workout. As a disabled person that trying to keep up with my rehab the constant harassment by staff if infuriating. They are still taking my money, but have now denied me entry into the building. Is this how Planet Fitness treats a customer that hasn't missed a payment since the day they opened. Staff is excellent. Gym is clean overall. Mostly there are just small things that irritate me. Some of the Ellipticals don't work as well as others. I always use the same one for that reason. They shut off mid workout and you lose your time and data. Maybe if you number them, we could tell you which ones? So they can be fixed... The body enhancement booth always has hair on the floor of it? Maybe we need some little dustpans to sweep it. Looks like its pet hair from people's socks. Idk how else so much hair gets there, and I dont want to think about it, ew. Sometimes there's no spray in there. But the major inconvienence is the recent roping off of the tables and chairs up front. Why? I need a place to sit when I have a hot flash and need to cool down and hydrate. Why can't we sit anywhere? They are always empty. Why take away a space for members? And then leave it empty? As a result, People sit on the machines to rest and hog the equipment. Seems like this is worse since the change. I noticed you put up signs to remind people not to do this. One more thing which probably applies to all gyms, but there is too much noise, too many tvs on. Visual chaos that you can't look away from. In the "spa" area I can hear multiple songs playing at once. The tv in there is playing food commercials. Once I saw the same Carl's Jr. Ad 4x in a row. It's feels like brainwashing, lol. We all have headphones, maybe some of the noise can be turned down? I work out to deal with stress, but sometimes this place is overwhelming. Yes, I was so Thankful when a good gym concept came to Lakeside. Recently they closed for two days to upgrade and they really did an amazing job on the redesign. A good gym is now a great gym-The entire gym flows better because of the deep thought that went into it. (Maybe it was AI). Planet Fitness Lakeside has rude customer service! When asked for help they act like it's an imposition. Not all of them but the new hires are rude. Can't get help with amenities even tho I'm black card user. they make you stand around till you get frustrated and leave. read more

Every sign both in person and online indicates opening at 5am today. It's 5:30, the doors are locked, there's a line of people who woke up early to workout before the day gets started and not one staff member is here. Some, like myself now can't wait any longer and have to leave. It's very frustrating to pay for a membership and not have the gym reliably open according to the hours posted. read more

Maybe allow members a place to sit. I dared sit down at one of the 3 unoccupied tables and was told I needed to leave after 5 minutes because all 3 tables were reserved for "sales". Not asking much....which is why this is my gym. The only other chairs are in the black card section. read more

I have been going to this gym for about 2 months. I love how Mercedes D at the front desk has been very helpful. Me being new she helped me with trying the red-light therapy.She is the one that told me about Jacob the personal trainer. I have to thank her for introducing me to him. Jacob is an amazing trainer. He is young but do under estimate him. He is getting me in to shape. I'm getting stronger and reshaping my body something that I thought I couldn't do. whoever was in charge of closing on January 22, 2026 rang that annoying siren over and over again leading up to the gym closing. seven or eight times in the last 10 minutes the gym was open, for 20 or 30 seconds each time. We get it, you're closing and would like to go home. Usually they turn it on for a bit at 9:50 as 10 minute warning and then turn it on again at 10:00. pretty obnoxious. other than that this gym is decent for the price. read more

This place is a complete scam. I have been charged extra fees every single month, and no one can explain why. On Friday, I spoke directly with the manager and asked her about the overcharges. She acted like she had no idea what was going on but promised she would contact ABC Financial and call me back. Days passed and I heard nothing. When I called on Monday, she said she was "too busy" and never even made the call. She then told me to call back later--just like every other time. When I told her that nothing ever gets resolved and I'm constantly being told to call back, she hung up on me. I called again and another employee answered and immediately hung up as well. That is completely unacceptable. The staff here are rude, unprofessional, and do not care about customers at all. Once you sign up, they take your account number and continue charging extra without fixing the problem or even treating you with basic respect. I feel taken advantage of and extremely frustrated. Total bummer! I've been a member of this gym for a very long time and all of a sudden they decided to take out the whole circuit training room and replace it with more heavy weight training machines. It's one thing that they don't have classes or any appropriate assistance, but now they just meet the needs of one type of clientele. What's even worse is that they didn't tell people. They just said they were going to close for a few days so they can add new equipment, but of course they do all of this after they have charged you your annual fee on top of monthly fees. What a disappointment especially for somebody in physical therapy independent on that type of equipment. And what's even worse is they rarely ever have management on site. read more

my only problem with this location is the fact that is closes earlier on the weekends where most people have more free time. i think its a little backwards but overall i love the gym and my journey that i am on. also wish there was a sauna all the other extras for black card memebr doesnt really fit every one that goes to the gym. not everyone needs a tanning room. but we all could benefit from a sauna read more

Update September 2023. The staff changes monthly. They rotate In and out kids with bad attitudes. They also are lazy as hell. 2 employees standing at the front talking and doing nothing. I politely tell them all the sinks are out of soap in the Men's Bathroom. They both roll their eyes like I'm disturbing them. It's SUPER GROSS AND UNSANITARY TO NOT HAVE SOAP IN THE BATHROOM. I finsidhed my work out and went back to the bathrooms 20 minutes later. All three sinks in men's bathroom still have. NO Soap. Alex ,or young guy with chain and backwards hat, still leaning on the counter and other girl talking doing nothing. So twice I had to wash my hands with water and then douse them in purel. They also will decide when they feel like it to give you tanning stickers for free or to charge you for them. I have had employees tell me "don't let them charge you, they are free." When I say this they never believe me and charge me the $0.56 cents. I only forget my plastic glasses once in a while. But every time it's different t some times they make me pay and sometimes they don't. Just have consistency. It's the principle, not the money. The next gym is so far from me and twice the price. Eve is super nice and always cool. I can always count on great service from her. It's the Alex guy and girl with curly hair that are temperamental and lazy. I was never told that the Gym was Reopening Post COVID. Never received an email. I paid for a membership for 7 months that I never used. Management hands are tied because they don't have the Authority to credit me back for those months. I never received the Email Stating the gym was Reopening after the COVID Closure. Nobody at the gym believes me that I did not receive the email. There are no corporate phone numbers or anybody available to help above the club management. There is a lack of empathy all around for my situation at this gym. I am very dissatisfied with this company and their business practices. The only recourse it to go to my own bank. The management could look at my account and see that I haven't used the club but have been paying for it. All told it's 160$ that I'm out. The club refuses to credit me back. They are also forcing me to come in to cancel. They do this on purpose to make it harder on the person who wants to cancel. I already sent corporate an email and have gotten 0 responses. I have been dealing with this since July 2021. I paid for March thru July including the 40$ annual fee. I can't imagine how many other people are paying for your gym membership fees and are completely unaware like I was. I don't recommend that you use this gym. read more

I've been working out here for almost 2 years and really enjoy it. The equipment is always clean and updated. The employees have always been really nice to me. The membership is super affordable and if you are a Black Card member, you can bring someone to work out with you, as well as gaining access to some extra perks. read more

I've been a member here since it opened years ago, got out of the membership and then came back again. I would say first and foremost that I miss the purple grape flavored tootsie rolls. Those were the best. Please bring them back! Second, I love how it's only $10 a month. It can get pretty crowded sometimes, but that shows more and more people are caring about their health. Thank you for getting new machines! It was a needed upgrade. When I first started I scheduled my own personal trainer to help me with workouts and operating the machines. It was great having him and was motivating. Hopefully they still do that. Other than that, I love to work out here. No judgements. read more

Teenagers dress so inappropriate and it's extremely uncomfortable can we get some dress coding going on? I'm tired of girls with their asses out and so is my husband. It's gross. We're on the treadmill and two girls PULL UP their spanks so their cheeks are out and go right in front of us on the stair masters. We left. Don't want to see that and don't want to see girls in bikini tops either. My husband is so uncomfortable and so are many other guests who have told the girls to put cloths on. But no one does anything about it. And can I say, Chloe needs to be fired. She is so rude and moody, and just cause your manager dosent make it ok to be rude. She is no help and just gives out numbers to call with any questions instead of taking her time to help people. You guys are going down hill. Also no enforcement on wiping down equipment and I've never seen someone clean anything either. read more

Your treadmills have a heart rate program but there are machines that stop reading your heart rate even though you're holding the hand grips. When you tell the attendants they listen to you but fail to fix the machine. Very hard to do a structured workout when you have to start over because of a malfunctioning machine. read more

At the Planet Fitness, they have signs posted everywhere to wipe down your equipment when you're done. I have been total two weeks and every time I turn walking off without cleaning the machine that is I have made point to tell someone twice already. I'm not sure if they're doing their job or what's the case but it's still an issue. some nasty people that walk away without cleaning. I also don't like the fact that there is a lot of elderly people that are using machines and they are not using them properly and the staff walks around even bother to tell them how to use it properly so that they don't hurt themselves read more

I love this facility.... However I do NOT like that covid is over and PF hasn't adjusted their covid hours back to normal business hours. When I signed up it was 24 hours and now it's only "5am-10pm" on week days and "7-7" on weekends. Covid isn't gone but it's not as bad as it used to be . So the hours should gradually get better or memberships should be prorated at a different rate since they close earlier than what I signed up for. I've asked week after week when the hours will adjust back to normal times. As some of us signed up, because they were 24 hours. And all they can say "is we are working on it." Can't beat $20 a month black card member special. You get a buddy pass every time you go and access to all the special spa machines and tanning. Also have access to all PF locations! As for this specific location, employees are super helpful and friendly, super clean and nice locker rooms. It's never overly busy and everyone just does their thing (no creepers that I've experienced!). I def recommend PF and this location! read more

Gym is clean equipment is on point. DOWNSIDES... -60 degrees in there aat all times, I u derstand the AC but fans and AC at full blast. I'm going to start sending you guys my medical bills. I only come to this gym now when I absolutely need to, other than that I started usi g a different gym and will most likely be canceling this one. Teensfrom the highschool working 5 at a machine, horsing around slowing machines down we adults are on a schedule move it along. TTHE STAFF, I will go on say it I have been asked to cover up my Trump shirts, and sweaters that are not offensive but the staff they are. I have seen other people wear worse and yet nothing is done. FYI, I will never cover my shirts or hoodies up if you dont want me to wear a hoodie keep the AC at a reasonable temp. Your staff can not come to me to correct me when half the gym is doing worse. I.E sandals, people leaving weights anywhere they feel like, group of kids messing around. Lockers, most lockers get left locked and when we need one there is none. read more

Update as of 7/23: I kept getting the run around as I figured. I did some research and found they have an F rating from the Better Business Bureau. Here is the proof that Planet Fitness (Lakeside, CA) does not have ethical practices. Update of 7/27: I got a call from the District Manager after seeing this review. She did confirm that I wasn't supposed to be charged and they are working on this. Let's see how long this whole fiasco takes to get resolved. No refund has been Issued yet. Older message: Hello, Owner/Corporate of this Planet Fitness, Lakeside location club number #05615. It seems I am unable to get anyone to help me out. On 6/16/2021, I requested to cancel my membership, and my last day to use the gym membership was on 7/16/2021, fair enough. No balance is due as stated on the signed cancellation documentation. Yet I looked at my bank transactions and saw that I got billed for this month. I spoke with the manager of this location, and I have left my name and number numerous times now. I talked with quite a few people, and NO RESOLUTION and no call back ever. Even one employee said, "I have never heard of anyone getting reimbursed" Yikes! A pretty common unethical practice. At first, they told me it was a system error. The next day they told me the cancellation was not finalized by the employee. No problem, we all make mistakes. But we have a written contract that has to be honored. We both signed the dotted line. It just Irks me that nothing is getting done, and all I am getting is the run around with no callback. The last time I spoke with the manager, he stated the following: "First the District manager has to review, then it gets sent to Corporate, then it gets sent to the billing company," he told me this as a way to intimidate/letting me know it's probably going to get dragged out or ultimately nothing was going to happen. I am not one to go to this extent to get attention, but I am pretty disappointed because I was a member for years, and I always recommend Planet Fitness to my friends and family. It is something simple that can be made right. This is a fair warning to anyone who signs up. Unethical practices are happening, and no one is willing to help you out. Beware of membership cancelling policies. You cannot cancel by simply logging into the app and saying "no more" I moved out of lakeside a year ago, they have taken a years worth of payments with no usage of the amenities and are now telling me to either travel across the country or send a piece of mail.. which will take weeks to receive and then weeks to process the cancellation. You would assume in this day and age, like 99% of companies now you would be able to cancel a subscription immediately if it's not being used. Con artists. read more
