I wish I could award negative stars. Don't expect Scotty to support you on any warranty issues. I had two bad experiences with him regarding warranties. One concerned the failure of the condensate pump on my Daikin mini split, which Scotty installed in 2020. It was well within the 12-year Daikin warranty period, but Scotty refused to present a warranty claim to Daikin, saying that the pump was not covered by the Daikin warranty because the pump was manufactured by Refco, not Daikin. But this is irrelevant under the Daikin warranty since the part was supplied or designated by Daikin and was not specifically excluded in the warranty. Scotty refused to discuss the actual terms of the warranty and was very rude about it. I would have had no problem with paying Scotty to replace the pump if he been willing to present the warranty claim, which has to be presented to the Daikin distributor by a Daikin dealer. Scotty refused to do that because he wrongly claimed the pump was not covered under the Daikin warranty. If he had been willing to read the Daikin warranty, he would have known that the Daikin warranty applied even though the pump in the Daikin mini split was manufactured by Refco (just like General Motors warranties all kinds of parts in its cars even though the parts may be made by dozens of companies). I hired a different Daikin dealer - Perfect Temp out of Diamond Springs. Perfect Temp replaced the part and presented the warranty claim to Daikin, which eventually honored the claim; Daikin reimbursed me not just for a new pump but also for Perfect Temp's labor charge to replace the old one. The other warranty problem I had with Scotty was the failure of the insulation that covered the coolant lines on the roof. It degraded after less than a year. Scotty blew off several requests to make a warranty claim to the manufacturer, saying that they wouldn't cover it. He made a claim only after I gave up on him and asked for the manufacturer's contact info so I could make the claim myself. Once he made the claim, the manufacturer honored it, providing new insulation to replace the old material. Scotty quoted me an outrageous price ($1,850!) for the labor to wrap the lines with the new insulation, so I hired someone else to install the insulation at less than 1/3 the cost that Scotty quoted me. read more

Scott was very comprehensive in answering my many questions regarding replacing my ancient HVAC with a modern and very efficient split heat pump system. Delivery and installation was as scheduled and completed on time. Installers Mike and Kyle were mice fellows, worked long and hard and got it done in a day. I called Scott when my furnace would not light on 1-11-2023. The technician said I needed a hot surface igniter and a run capacitor. I said fix it. Next thing I know the furnace is running. Then he handed me a $607.00 bill. I was shocked but paid the bill. Next day I looked up those parts, I could buy both parts for less than $50.00 total. I called Scott and asked how he could change people on social security those kind of prices? He laughed and said he had to charge those prices to stay in business. We are remodeling our kitchen and the sheet metal gal (Cattco) who will install the vent for the downdraft noticed the heat/air system was off level and said it was probably collecting water. I called Gilmore and was on line with their recording ("your call is very important yadayada) for over 2 minutes before hanging up and calling Scotty's. I immediately got a live person, Mr Scotty himself, and he promised they would be at my house within the hour. In less than an hour, Tim showed up, very quickly saw the issue and went to fast work making the system (which is pretty big) level. He also inspected the system running the heater and air conditioning. He was professional, knowledgeable and friendly. I would highly recommend this company to anyone needing and wanting a professional, honest and for me, very reasonable, heating and air technician. read more

I appreciate that they were able to dispatch someone fairly soon, during a record- breaking heat wave. Problem is they did not fix the problem, $600 something later. Talked to an electrician who told me he would make a bet that the record breaking heat was affecting our unit. It's a good thing I didn't buy a new unit as suggested by this company. They also suggested a part that cost as much as a new unit , yet he made me feel like I was getting a good deal. Called Scott on a Wednesday morning, after another company was a no call no show for an appointment the previous day. Scott called me back within minutes got the specifics of our project and said he would call back with a quote. Again, within minutes he called back with two options. We picked the option we wanted and Scott came to our house that afternoon to check everything out and sign paperwork. Scott said we should hear from him that Friday or the following Monday. Sure enough he called Monday morning to tell me his crew would be here the next day! The crew arrived right on time. They were clean, laying cloths down on the floor and picked up all the trash. He then got us a detailed quote with a variety of options very quickly as well. We had 3 different heating and air companies come to the house and discuss replacement of the 20+ year old system. The house is large requiring separate systems for the downstairs and upstairs. We gave each company the same information including a master bedroom that had inadequate coverage from the existing system. Scotty's was the only one that checked out the bedroom to make sure the problem would be resolved with the new installation. All bids were comparable. Scotty's got the job. Scotty, Tim, and Bryant all came out initially to bid the job. Tim and Bryant did the install. They kept us informed through the entire installation. They cleaned up after themselves at the end of each work day. They were very respectful and very professional. The system works like a dream. We couldn't be happier. Very knowledgeable and professional technician, but charged $295 to install a sealant/leak detector into the AC unit, which was a $50 part online. I guess the rest is "labor", literally 10 seconds to thread it on to the gauges that they already charged $99 to connect to the system. I must preface my review by saying that I HATE dealing with contractors!!! None the less, I had a FANTASTIC experience with Scotty's! When I first called these guys (after DIY research/tinkering), the owner answered immediately. I described my furnace's symptoms (loooong story short.....I had a bizarre situation). He agreed that the symptoms were uncommon and his first statement was a list of things I could do/try myself. WHAAAT?!?! Talk about ethics! I wasn't even a previous client! I worked with both Tim and Scott in person and with Scott over the phone several times. They were a pleasure to work with in all respects. These guys hit my "unicorn contractor trifecta." They do what they say they are going to do, when they say they will do it, and charged what they said they would charge. Additionally, they were NEVER condescending (a common factor that leads me to detest contractors) and got out to my place very quickly (semi-remote Somerset). Priceless. I rarely post reviews but felt that we needed to let others know of this excellent business. We have had numerous work done by Scotty's and have been very satisfied and thankful for the great work they have completed for us. We had his company bid and install a complete new furnace or heating system and AC unit in a 120 year old Victorian we own. The system has worked flawlessly. We also have had his company install 15 new propane heaters in some apartments which entailed three days of solid work. What I wanted anyone to know by writing this review is, Scotty stands by his work. Whenever we have called him with any issue (even small ones) he has addressed it and responded immediately. That is valuable. Anytime you have a contractor do work for you it is important to have someone who will stand by their work and respond if there is ever a problem. I called Scotty's H&A at 9 am this morning and was told that they could have a technician here today. At about 1:30 the technician arrived They knew what the problem was as soon as the ac unit was turned on. Thirty minutes later they had replaced a part and did some other checks to make sure everything was working correctly. we are in the middle of several days of 100+ degree weather and all other ac companies were at least two or more days out for scheduling. The customer service I received was tremendous. The techs did a thorough job even though they had more stops. They made sure I was satisfied before they left. read more

the product they have may be great, but the workmanship is shoddy. The were out at least 3 times because they couldn't tighten a fitting so the Freon didn't leak out of the unit. Then is last time they never checked the drain hose on the mini unit and it leaked all down a wall. Ruining photos can't be replaced and knocked out our telephone service for a week because the water got into the jack. They never cleaned up the dirt from the drilling and left my craft closet a mess. I am attempting to find a photo restorer for the precious photos that unit destroyed. I have never heard back from Scotty regarding the damage to the wall or my one of kind photos and what they are going to do about it.
