I know this place doesn't have a lot of five star reviews but for me it does. Since moving to the PNW I've been able to handle vehicle stuff here easily. You've just got to know when to go. There was a sign when I entered stating moving to station 5 for "internet pickup" and assumed that was what I needed- although I wasn't sure if I needed to grab a number even for that station. Turns out you don't have to grab a number if you're just picking up tabs and since no one else was at that window I was helped immediately and was out before 9:20am. I was extremely hesitant about going to update my registration and license plate after moving from out of state. You hear nightmares about the DMV. How slow they are, how rude they are. I'm pleasantly surprised that it was not the case here. The staff is knowledgeable and efficient. I came in the morning and was helped after a short wait. My registration was a tad complicated but the lady told me exactly what forms I needed to get and got me on my way with a temporary registration. I went here to register my car. Super fast and easy. They have a system when you take a number when you come in. Unfortunately, you can't wait online or register an appointment ahead of time. Take a drive anywhere but this place. Customer service is terrible most of the time. I would normally not even bother doing a bad review but the last couple of trip to Alpine was the last straw. I went in to pick up taps that my wife had ordered on line and the customer service rep wouldn't release them to me because we have different last names even though I had the receipt that we printed and I'm on her reg. I love that you can do many of the tedious DMV tasks online. When I needed my tabs renewed, I completed it all online, & selected pick up from this location. I walked in to a waiting room full of people on a Friday afternoon. However this location has a counter designated for picking up an online renewal. At the time of this posting they were ranked three stars. Hopefully my one star rating will bring down their average, reflecting a more accurate rating. A clerk, who wore a Rainier Beer baseball cap to work decided to take it upon himself to belittle me by giving me a hard time there. I left feeling more angry than when I entered. Turn down the smug attitude and turn on a little customer service. You are getting paid to be a professional, not to agitate customers. The incompetent clerk also made a mistake by charging me the wrong price which resulted in me going back twice. This made me start to think that the Rainier baseball cap may be playing a more significant role towards his incompetence. Think about it: If I wore a Marijuana themed Hawaiian shirt to work and I messed up your policy, you would think maybe the Marijuana (shirt) would have something to do with me "making a mistake." Sidenote: A good and honorable manager/owner (who contains a modicum of pride towards their business) wouldn't have allowed an employee to wear said Rainier beer baseball cap to work in the first place.. Just sayin' In summary, you got a clerk (who wore a Rainier beer baseball cap to work- along with lousy people skills) messing up the financial details that are detrimental to his both his employer and their bloodline- the customer. There was a line outside about 6-7 people deep when I arrived. Prolly waited 10-15 minutes, then was able to enter the office. I recently moved from out of state and needed to register my vehicle. Wow. Initially, I thought that my critical but last second visit to the DOL was turning out to be just like every stand-up routine and stereotype about DOL/DMV. The lady that I first encountered (let's pretend her name is Gertrude) was one of the coldest, most un-empathetic people that I have literally, ever met. Despite describing the story of how my car was stolen to her, and explaining that they stole my plates so I couldn't commute to work if I did not get the plates that night (it was 5:15, they close at 5:30), she treated me with the worst customer experience I have ever encountered. I had not yet transferred the title from my mother to myself despite my name being on the registration I was worried my mother would likely have to be there. Though originally saying her presence wasn't necessary, leading to my telling her not to come, Gertrude suddenly insisted that she had to be present for the renewal to occur. This created a very awkward situation where I had to call her again for the second time in 5 minutes and say "Nevermind, I do I'm fact need you to leave her work early (she's a nurse) and get down here from the Issaquah Highlands in 10 minutes or less." Without warrant, she got more and more aggressive and threatening that if she got there at 5:29 she wouldn't do it. My mother was frantically calling saying that she would barley make it, when Gertrude heard this call, she got up from her desk and walked into the back so that she wouldn't be there until they "closed" as Gertrude reminded me ten times. So is the five stars an accident then? No. One standout employee changed the entire night, overriding the entirety of Gertrude's terrible treatment of us. Ashlyn (not her real name but very close, for management) saw my mother running to the door in scrubs at 5:29 and despite here having being ready to go home at 5:30 she kindly, with a heartfelt smile turned her computer back on and eased us through the entire process. She recommended the relevant forms and expediently filled them out with us while crossing every t and dotting every i. She made the night and deserves recognition. Thank you Ashly(n). You didn't have to go above and beyond but you did so anyway and that means a lot. read more

It's very hard to find someone that works here that is friendly. The staff is so incredibly condescending and they make this already miserable process of renewing tabs, title transfers, etc even more horrific. I have been coming here for years out of pure convenience. But I honestly am convinced that you have to be a straight up jerk to be employed here. The service is so slow and probably because of the amount of extra time it takes the employees to make the paying customers feel like garbage. No exaggeration, you are made to feel incompetent and like a scolded child all in one visit. And then to top it off they charge you a fee when you pay with a debit card. Even if you call and get them on the phone they're so incredibly rude and you can feel their eyes rolling when you ask questions. Every time I have to come here I want to rip my eye balls out! While there are other locations sort of close by, this is still the easiest for me to come to. Looking forward to renewing online from here on out because I can't handle the heart burn these employees cause me. AVOID! read more

Waited in line to register a gift vehicle. The lady wanted information about the vehicle that stated it was a gift and taxes paid. I volunteered for her to help others while I looked up the information. Once I'm done and have waited for 15 mins for her to finished with that customer, I again went over the counter to show her the items she needs that shows the title on my phone but was then ignored and she was frantically wrote several list of the post it note stated she needs the physical copy instead. I am so mad because she could have told me right there while I was with her in the beginning and not wasted more of my time waited and not getting anywhere. She should be more helpful. read more

I'm glad there's a location in Issaquah where you can renew tabs, which is the only reason why I visit Alpine Licensing. But it's what you imagine it to be with these kind of places - slow. I usually go during my lunch break and there is often a short line of people, waiting to be called up. Once you step inside, you get a ticket with a number on it and wait until your number is called up to one of the counters. The reason why you spend longer than you should here is because although there are several counters - only two people are working at a time, at least from when I've visited. But there are benches inside, which is a lifesaver because it can take a bit. They do accept cards, but there is a small fee for transactions - remember to bring cash or checks. Alpine Licensing is located in a shopping centre off of Gilman, so there's plenty of parking. Just know that it does not handle driver's licenses, just vehicle licenses, as indicated on the front door. read more

One of the very few DOL on the eastside that's open on weekends. Beggars can't be choosers so I find myself here on a Saturday. Fortunately unlike the DOL in Bel-Red, this one is clean and very efficient. The guy who helped me was really knowledgeable and friendly. I had to get a new title for my Duc and I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. There were also a couple of TVs up so I could watch the Huskies game while the computer was doing it thing. Of course the downside of going to any of the private DOL shops is having to pay the extra fee. But like I said... beggars can't be choosers ... on a Saturday... on the Eastside. read more

If there's any chance of a single snowflake falling anywhere West of the Cascades, don't send your tabs here to pick them up. When I renewed, I was running a little late and it recommended picking them up at an office rather than having mailed, to ensure I got them in time. Well, I would have been better off having them mailed. I'm receiving mail but this place has been closed since Friday (it's Wednesday now). My tabs have expired. When I checked this morning, their website said not a word about whether they would be open today, and their phone was busy every time I tried. So I drove the 10 miles there, again, only to find them still closed. But this time there was a new note on their door, dated yesterday, saying that THEY FOLLOW THE ISSAQUAH SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR SNOW CLOSURES. Well, now that is very useful information! I'm very glad to know it. But why isn't it on their website? Even the note right under their hours where it says "Closed Sundays and all legal holidays Including Issaquah Salmon Days weekend" doesn't say anything about snow closures or the Issaquah school district. If they can tell us on their website about the (expletive deleted) Salmon Day weekend, I think they should be able to tell us there about following the Issaquah school district for snow closures. They even had the gall to say on that note that their website said that they were closed. I looked again when I got back home, checking all the pages. Nope, not a word on their website about being closed, nor about snow closures in general, nor about following the Issaquah school district. Alpine Licensing processes licensing for your vehicles in WA state - it doesn't do any drivers licensing. I'm sharing that right off the bat because Google tells you otherwise, and I got lead astray. I met with a friendly person who was happy to give me the forms and info needed to update my car registration for a name change. Bleak space but it's clean and glad the government isn't spending our taxes on decor. Located in a strip mall and tons of free parking. read more

They are actually pretty good. However, they screwed up my paperwork. Nice customer service all though when I tried to correct them they rolled their eyes and looked at each other like I was an idiot and they really hate customers. Unfortunately they did get my info wrong and if they had just listened to me it would have gone a lot better. They seem to really care about getting people completed, even if they close everyone who is in line when they close still gets served. I noticed them being very patient with people who had complicated situations such as trying to register cars that are in a spouses name without that person present. Also they took time with people who did not speak English very well. I, however speak English as a first language and they still messed up my paperwork. They force customers to stand in line OUTSIDE in 40 degree temps (3 people ahead of me for 30 minute wait while people inside were standing around) blaming covid restrictions. They clearly don't care if their customers get sick. No thank you for my patience or even an acknowledgment. They treat customers as if we are there to serve them. The first time we went, we learned that we needed a paper signed to remove someone from my car title, and the lady helping us was very informative and explained everything clearly. Today, as the last day in August, there was a long line outside -- an employee was monitoring everything, and 6-foot gaps were marked with blue tape on the walkway. The last time I came here was pre-covid and after my 2016 review. My experience back then with a gentleman was OK. I don't expect them to be friendly due to the nature of this business, but it was acceptable. I came this week to pick up an internet order for tags. I forgot the procedure because I had them delivered to my home in the past, but I needed to pick them up this time. Anyways the older lady was NOT friendly and mean to me. I had a wonderful day like always until I reached her. It was like I was pestering her. There was no one inside since you had to wait outside, so I don't understand her impatience with me. When she was passive-aggressive, I saw other employees walking behind her, making me feel that this behavior is acceptable. She did not pretend or anything when she looked at them; she continued being mean. I think the nice person that leaves feedback here on yelp should make sure that every week you have group meetings and that each one of these employees is being respectful to customers because that is the WAY it is supposed to be and not what I experienced. read more

Had a very rude lady call and tell me how to notarize my own paperwork for someone to get a car titled, that I have been doing for 10+ year. I tried to explain to her that's how we always did this certain paperwork. She was down right rude, disrespectful and wanted to argue with me. She told that this person trying to get the car title was going to be refused by the state because I didn't know how to notarize paperwork properly. Well they never had an issue. Like many people mentioned no lines, I thought, "great this will be quick." I was wrong..there were three people behind the desk. One woman was helping someone, another doing nothing, the last woman was folding paper... That was frustrating but not even close to what I experienced at the counter. I was helped by Deanette? Long white-ish blonde hair, wearing a professional Duck Dynasty t- shirt with the huge word REDNECK on it. Deanette provided the WORST/SLOWEST service (i'll avoid using the phrase "customer service" due to her total lack of knowledge of the phrase) I have ever experienced. Avoid this Duck Dynasty loving woman at all costs, better yet avoid this joke of a place all together. Special shoutout to Deanette for being the rudest woman I have ever encountered. Seems I had a request that caused a bit of a challenge and Connie who helped me initially recruited her colleague to help. She was very friendly and professional as she worked hard to find the solution. When John took over he too was challenged and picked up the phone to get some technical help. After trying a few different ways to get their newer computer system to accept the request he had figured it out. The staff at Alpine were very efficient in getting the crowd moving. When my turn came, the person at the counter was very helpful, took care of everything efficiently as quickly as he could. I had to get my plates changed over to Washington from California. I had lost my title and registration in the move and had the replacement copy of it. The older lady that looked over my information didn't want to process my paperwork because she didn't want to have it rejected and deal with it again. Clearly, she didn't know what she was doing. Also told me I had to pay Washington sales tax on my car even through I had it over a year, and my registration even said so. Her customer service was passively rude, especially when I gave her my information. Lines are short (less than 15 minutes) but horrible customer service. I ended up going to Bel-Red at the Crossroads instead and they processed everything without a hassle or lies about payment for tax. read more

It's a business that is contracted with the State of Washington to issue license plates, tabs, etc. Normally they are pretty quick and nice, sometimes they are busy, in a hurry and not too talkative which you can't really blame them for. They are quite convenient when you need something done ASAP. read more
