They do not renew driver licences. ONLY vehicles renewals. Please have all your paperwork in order and it will make the process faster. I see to many people come in and they don't have some of the paperwork or all the right paperwork. Please have all of your paperwork and documents in order. This will help the process out. The staff is good here. I have been coming to them since they were at Factorial Mall. Now I come all the way to Issy to get my vehicles tabs. Keeps your kids at home or outside, or keep an eye on them and don't let them run around in the waiting area. Waiting area is not that big. read more

Temporary tags moved here from California and had to wait for title from lienholder. Staff told me and wrote on my paper to wait and then call to check if the title came in. Well I waited and it did not come in....so I call and first man was sort of helpful. Called back however because I was not quite confident that they had given me the correct information. Got a woman who was kind enough to look multiple places for the title. Still no title. She then went on to tell me that I have to harass my lienholder to get the title and not wait. I avoided a negative review last time because of the great follow up from another staff Member, but today warrants a bad review. My Wife and I went back to this location to sign over a title, based on specific advice from an employee at this location. That employee wasn't working today so we attempted to relay what we had been told. The first woman at #5 was very rude and interrupted us twice as we attempted to explain. We walked away and then approached #1 where unfortunately we met another rude woman that had a dash of being condescending as well. I went in to Alpine Licensing (DOL) in Issaquah last week; to report a sale for my car and register a new (used) car purchase. I was in and out in record time and my helper, Ashleigh, was awesome! Fast, knowledgeable, and friendly! It was obvious she loved her job :-) I called the next day with a question, and she answered the phone and again, was sharp and efficient with answering my question. This DOL is worth visiting! I've had my tabs renewed here twice with no problem. However recently I went to transfer a title into my name with a lien holder as the legal owner. Stunned with the price of the transfer, plates, tabs, tax etc. and my brother being taken to the ER I left without double checking my title. I learned not to assume people know their job. I got to the loan office and found out they put the original owner as the registered owner on the new title. No loan = no car that I had already spent $500 on insurance, emissions and title. I'm waiting 2-4 weeks for Olympia to fix their mistake. They completely screwed my life over for the moment. If it's convenient and simple go for it. If it's slightly complicated, make sure everything is correct before leaving. read more

This place is a gem. The line speeds by, especially compared to the awful BelRed licensing office where you have to wait like 2 hours for anything, no matter what day or time. I know BelRed does their best but just has so many people to treat- this licensing office in Issaquah is so much quieter and therefore you can get in and out much quicker, no matter the day or time. read more

The most unwelcoming dol dept i've ever been so far. I bought a toyota camry 2006 with more than 100k miles from my friend on it, and this car has been broken the breaks and the tires, so i showed the old woman who sat in the number 3 window that i bought it for 5000$ which is a fair deal. She ended up tell me that: we follow on Edmund, your car's valued $9000. It's such a joke, she didn't even listen to me when I try to explain to her that, i have to change the break, and the oil pan and the car get oil leak as well, who the hell is going to buy a trash car for $9000. ? I bring to another licensing dept, so it takes me just 5 minutes to transfer. Stay away from this place by many changes. read more

There's a woman here, Connie, who was very rude. I purchased a new car last year and am trying to renew my tabs. Apparently, the DOL screwed up with their licensing fee and forgot to charge the previous car owner the RTA fee. I brought my letter for this year but not the RTA letter that SHOULD have been charged to the previous owner last year. Who in the world keeps a letter for a WHOLE year?!?! Connie was very rude to me and mentioned multiple times that I should have brought the letter that was sent last year at the top of her lungs. She's a hoarder obviously. Going to the DMV or DOL is something I think everyone dreads: Long lines, tired and unfriendly service and did I mention endless lines? If you are looking for friendly and exceptional service go see Lisa, she is awesome! I went in on Saturday and my muddled brain forgot to bring some of my paperwork so she let me know exactly what papers I needed to do the transfer and told me to come see her directly when I come back. I came back on Tuesday(with all my paperwork) and she not only remembered me and but had me come to her booth as soon as I walked in. She is professional and courteous. If there was more people like her at the DOL/DMV it would almost be enjoyable, but if you enjoy the horrible service DMV/DOL's are known for, go to Renton or The Bel/Red substations; otherwise, go see Lisa at the Issaquah DOL! Website says that this location is open first Saturday of the month. When I called, the voicemail did as well. When I showed up, a sign said closed for Labor Day weekend. I came here to pick up tabs with my friend. The service was pretty fast. You pick a number and then wait for your term. My friend was also interested in getting her Discovery pass here but you have to wait ten days to get it mailed to you if you get it here. However, getting it here is still better than getting it at the SportsMart which charges $35 for the pass. read more

Line is long and the middle-aged woman that assisted us was fairly impatient with us and other customers. To add insult to injury there is a hefty additional fee for going here instead of the government office downtown, which is only open during the week. read more

I renew tabs online and then pick up. Some places have you go and just stand randomly at the counter while the rest of the people in line are glaring at you for cutting line. Alpine has a great little doorbell that you ring and someone comes to help you. Very respectful, easy way to do it. For the one or two times that I've had to wait it hasn't been long and not a long line, even on Saturday mornings. read more

Such a bad experience so far at this licensing office. Just moved here from out of state and had a co-owner on the title of our vehicle. Asked if we needed to have any other forms with a co-owner being on the title and out of state. They said no. Get there to find out there was a form we needed to get, had to do a temporary registration and they told us to quickly get that form to them so that we can register and get our plates. Come to find out that they are so far behind in everything that they now need 13 days to process a temporary registration and cant even give us plates because of 13 days that they didnt tell us about when we got and paid for the temporary registration. Too much many inconsistencies and poor customer service at this office. Such a headache. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. read more

If I could, I would give ZERO stars. I paid for my tabs via mail on March 21,2011, check cleared my bank on the 27th. On May 4th I still hadn't received my tabs. This place wasn't very busy, I took a # and waited for my turn. Unfortunately for me I was helped by a lady named Debbie, who I could tell hated her job. She told me to go home and wait for my tabs to come in the mail. I then asked her do I get a pass or something in case I get pulled over by the police. She said "NO, the tabs were mailed on the 90th day of the month and to go home and wait for them" . I had to point out repeatedly that we are in May, waaayyy past the 90th day of the year. She still told me to wait for the tabs to come in the mail. I then proceeded to show her the copy of the cancelled check and said I need tabs. Long story short, reluctantly, she went to her supervisor upon my request and said that I needed to pay an additional $9, which I refused to pay, as this was not my mistake. I ended up paying $5 and was treated like crap. I did find out that all of these agencies are privately owned, so never again will go to this office, no matter how far I have to drive. Summary: Overall Alpine is about typical for a DOL business, which given the reputations of most DOL places that isn't saying much. I've used Alpine probably 20 times now with mixed results. Often you can go in and do your business without any issues but if you have anything outside of a plain vanilla pick up tabs scenario you may experience bad attitudes, condiscention etc. The online hours on various sites also say it is open on Saturday but that is only the last Saturday of the month. Recomendation: The state has a lot of the common services available online. Use them if at all possible. Pros: 1. Convenient location 2. Can handle simple DOL tasks ok 3. Usually only 5-10 minute wait time Cons: 1. Attitude 2. Conflicting information from different staff. I had a situation where I brought in documents for transferring a title and the person told me I needed to get two other docs. Fine. I come back with those docs and another person says no, you need one of those and some other doc. So I call just to make sure I have the right docs before coming again and I'm told something else entirely. 3. You are always the one at fault. So after I finally get all the docs they want they process my title, take my money and send me on my way. The problem? The title never arrives. I call the state and they say they don't have any record of receiving anything. I go back to Alpine to have them look through their records and they would not. They did however tell me that I did something wrong. So I ask them ok, what do I do now as in what docs etc and the lady is annoyed that I asked the question of how to fix it. So I go get new copies of the docs from the seller etc and Alpine informs me I also need another doc. Finally after getting everything they needed I went in, they barely looked at the docs I brought and processed everything and I had to pay a second time. Needless to say there is a reason for the one star review. read more

First time going to this place. One of the few places open on a Saturday, albeit only the last and first Saturday of the month. Anyways, I renewed my tabs online and selected this office for pick-up. I came in at around noon on a Saturday, walked in and out in less than 5 mins. The dude working counter #5 was helpful (which was the counter you went to if you renewed online). I'd recommend going to his place if you're just picking up tabs that you already paid for online. read more

Poor Customer Service with a Bad Attitude! My husband and I were going to be purchasing a used vehicle where there was a lien holder that was being paid off. So as the rules are that the registration needs to be completed in 15 days, but it takes the State of WA 4 to 6 weeks to issue a new title once the lien holder releases the paperwork. So how do we get the registration transferred without the title? Unsure of this answer I called Alpine Licensing and spoke with an individual (who actually didn't identify himself when answering the phone) who seemed helpful and told me that I needed a Release of Interest from the Lien holder, the vehicles registration and a Bill of Sale. So of course, I get these documents and then proceed to the Alpine Licensing. I get there and there was no line (I was excited to not have to wait forever) and then proceed to the first window where the old lady with the long white hair proceeds to lecture me about needing the title and so I explained the situation and she grabs my documents and with a snotty attitude and a huff, she gets up and asks someone and then proceeds to tell me that I now need a notarized bill of sale (WTF??), so I tried to explain to her AGAIN, what I was told originally and with another huff and snotty attitude, she brings another person over who was just as rude and condescending. So I asked for my paperwork back, turned around and left. I have used Alpine Licensing for over 10 years for all of my cars tabs. They have just lost a long time customer. read more
