if you're a woman DONT GO here! i had the most unpleasant and unprofessional experience. this "dentist" not only put his tools on my chest while working on me (as if i was the tray) but also "massaged and felt my neck" because according to him my jaw was misaligned or something weird. he also mentioned "i was pretty and looked a lot like his daughter" which was really uncalled for and uncomfortable. instead of using regular tools to keep my mouth open, he kept my mouth open with HIS FINGERS instead. he did 3 fillings on me (1 of them was completely wrong and i couldn't bite correctly of how pasty and big he left it) but he told me i needed 4 more but we ran out of time THANK GOD ! of course i felt vulnerable and gross afterwards i decided to never come back so i went to a different dentist to fix the bad filling and explained my situation they said i usually had to go back to the same dentist for them to fix the filling but when i told her how he treated me and how uncomfortable he made me feel she fixed it and told me that he totally wrong !!! Doc told me I had severe bone loss and needed to go on a soft diet immediately, basically told me my mouth needed thousands of dollars of dental work. Argued with his secretary (wife) in front of me. It's a mystery to me why this office doesn't have Five Stars across the board. Dr Orozco is an MD/PhD level medical doctor, not simply a dentist, having lectured at top universities and has invented profession-changing procedures, and he does it way out here in East County San Diego. He could easily have a practice in La Jolla, or Beverly Hills for that matter, making 5x as much, so having him in this area is a true blessing...I've had major dental/oral surgery here, due to poor genetics as well as poor former orthodontics from childhood (and admittedly my own lack of care), and it's been flawless...This office is also blessed with the care and friendliness shown by the Doc's assistants, including his own wife, so the entire shop has the feel of a down to earth family affair. Also, the superb office management, scheduling, and low wait times are a very welcome plus. In short, you're missing out on an experience of care that is truly exceptional if you pass this office by when shopping around for dental and oral care. A resounding Five Stars. read more

Dr. Rodolfo Orozco, DDS Is a nice man. His office staff are also quite nice. That's where anything positive I have to say stops. My wife and I both had absolutely awful experiences with this dental provider. I went in for a standard tooth extraction. He talked me into doing a root canal. Four hours into the root canal-- an absolutely torturous experience by the way --he informed me that it was not going to work and that I was going to have to come back and have the tooth extracted, which is what I wanted in the first place. BTW, he charged me for the root canal that never happened. When I went back in for the tooth extraction, it was another three hours of torture. He also charged for the extraction. But the pain I experienced was nothing compared to what he did to my wife. He left her face swollen and bruised for a week. If you are looking for a dentistry provider... Please keep looking. If I could leave less than one star I would. read more

I have seen Dr Orozco for 20 plus years and I have the need to share that he's the BEST dentist I've ever seen! He's very caring, thorough in explaining treatment plan but most importantly he's very gentle! I would recommend him 100%. I am scared of dentists and always have been. This dentist is the best one I have ever gone to. I am 76 years old so that is saying a lot. First off I felt NO pain whatsoever. Dr. Orozco was completely focused on me and my well-being. He immediately made me feel comfortable. He was very courteous, as was his entire staff. I have been going to Alpine Oak Dental for years. The staff have always been exceptional. What I like the most is that Dr. Orozco can do most any type of procedure. Having a "one stop shop" is very important to me. I have always gotten great service there including a late night emergency that he accommodated me with no problem. I literally never leave reviews but I Have to make this aware to save someone!! BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE!!! This dentist is Absolutely the most incompetent dentist I've ever been to!!! I got a filling done. Had lots of pain eating on that one side afterwards. Called multiple times they said the pain was normal. Kept calling and went in for 3 different appointments for 1 he just used his "curing light" and things were "fixed". 2nd time he said the pains from my wisdom teeth and he recommended pulling them and tried to have me schedule a procedure. I could literally feel the pain on the filling with my finger nail. I called back and explained how I can touch the pain. I went back a 3rd time & the lady at the front desk actually came back herself to help "diagnose" the issue. He said it's a cracked tooth and tried to use some kind of compound to fix it. After the numbing went away I instantly had pain. I called back again and for a 4th time he redid the filling. Afterwards There was a fragment of my tooth or composites in my throat I had to pull out with my fingers before I could of swallowed. The dr immediately copped an attitude and said I don't understand how it works and I need 3 years of dentist school to understand. He proceeded to tell me I will need a root canal if this doesn't fix it. He said it's my fault and my bodies reaction for what happened. He Literally got in my face and said "what am I going to do about it". He followed me out to the front and stared me down as I drove away and said he's "someone" and don't mess with him literally acting like he's going to fight me. This guy is a complete joke. Doctor Orozco is a great dentist. But be AWARE of an employee there! He did my bridge work and I get compliments all the time. Especially from family members and friends I haven't seen in a long time. He was also great with my wife & my kids who are ages 8 and 11. The problem is with one particular receptionist, and or assistant. I'm not sure what her job title is. She is in charge of billing....Back in April,my wife needed a tooth pulled. This employee of his told us it was an emergency,my wife needed a bone graph etc. She even told us it was dangerous for her to fly. She scared us thinking it was an emergency, but it was gonna cost us over $800. So I got a care Credit credit card. But I felt pressured,so got a second opinion. I took my wife to another dentist,not only was it a simple tooth pulling procedure....it cost me only $10! Not sure if it's related to switching dentist's after, but I owed a simple $100 and some change before....Now I'm receiving bills for $600! This employee of doctor Orozco told me it was for canceled appointments. She is very aggressive when she speaks to you. It's a such shame a great dentist like Dr Orozco would hire an employee like this. Not only did he lose me and my entire family, 2 coworkers I work with and my uncle had (or already have) seen the dentist. They are all looking for other dentists as well. Ultimately Dr Orozco is responsible for who he hires, employees should make your job easier. And in this case, help generate new clients and give great customer service to existing ones. I've personally been In the hospitality business for over 20 yrs. Being lied to and treated badly at this dentist office I decided to take my family to a dentist office who is fair and treats his clients with respect. read more

This place deserves no stars this Dentist made me feel sexual harassed and not human, he talked about his daughters and his stepdaughters as well saying rude remarks such as pink shoes are for femin women and you have a child like mouth found it sexist anyone could wear pink and why say child size mouth to an adult women. Dr. went on rubbing and massaging my lips, neck , and shoulders I wanted to yell got anxiety but the medical assistant said my trun next, then his wife walks in saying don't you want to finish the message I was so confused and scared please ladies stay away from this nasty man who treats women as objects, Unprofessional Dr. and staff along with his wife just throughout the root canal saying rude remarks the place is not clean the assistant drop stuff on the ground and picked it up and tried to put in my mouth I said no and flys on the equipment. read more

Believe all the negative comments both here on this sight and on Google reviews. I read them and still went in to see this doctor, giving him the benefit of the doubt. I even shared with him all of the reviews about being overcharged and taking hours to do procedures with multiple failed. I personally spent three hours in the office just trying to come up with a feasible affordable treatment plan utilizing my insurance. I had signed six different treatment plans. Right before the procedure the doctor was about ready to numb me up for a sinus lift appointment I had made a week earlier and the Dr asked me for a CT scan. He said he will need it to complete the entire procedure. I said, well why didn't anyone tell me about this prior to this appointment. no one had request me to have one done so of course I don't have one. So after being there from 4-630pm, I ran out of the office. If the doctor were to perform the partial procedure it would have cost me 1000 extra dollars out of pocket, not covered by my insurance and then I would still have to come back for the actual sinus lift. I have an abscessed tooth with its roots growing into my sinus cavity... I do not trust this doctor, he's a con artist. I went over the treatment plan with his wife it took 2 hours just for that signed it sat down for treatment and then he began to argue with his wife in front of me about the bone grafting not being covered with a sinus lift, and she does the billing. She had already called my insurance to confirm. The bone grafting is not covered if they just remove the tooth, without a sinus lift! To my understanding, by my research through Delta, he's not board-certified nor is he an oral surgeon so I don't know why he even agreed he would do a sinus lift in the first place. I guess to pull this scam bc It's seems like he chickened out at the last minute threw me a curveball to get out of it and still try to take my money. SMH read more

*Scam artistry not dentistry!!! I highly suggest if you need anything beyond cleaning or general dentistry, GET A SECOND OPINION!!! Dr. Orozco tried to intimidate me and pressure me into getting 6 ct scans immediately and extensive treatment for TMJ at his office. Dr. Orozco told me that I would become disabled from TMJ, I should not drive as I could be liable for killing someone from vertigo it causes. Though TMJ has personally affected a loved one for Dr. Orozco, only because it went untreated, his extremist measures and scare tactics ensured I will never go back to this dentist for any reason! My TMJ, he assured me, was from my aligners from smile direct club though I mentioned to him I thought it was from stress, which he only caused more of! The office refused to send any treatment plan paperwork to me or respond via email to cover their tracks and charged me for a consultation that was ultimately complete bullshit. I got a second opinion the following day, received Botox shots to calm my TMJ and also a night guard and have had no issues since. I dodged thousands of dollars in dentist bills and would never recommend finding the closest dentist to your home as I tried to do! Dr. Orozco and his staff are PHENOMENAL! I don't tend to review many places but after their outstanding service with my son who was in pain at 6pm on a Wednesday I have to write one. Dr. Orozco made my son feel so at ease when he started to cry since he needed a root canal. The time and love and passion that poured out of this man was something this world is lacking very much. The root canal was done 5 days later, today, since my son needed antibiotics to tame the infection that had started. He took the time needed to keep my son at ease and when some unexpected complications occurred Dr. Orozco and his staff didn't miss a beat to keep my son calm. I am so incredibly grateful I found him to take care of my family. If you're looking for a dentist who knows what he's doing and takes the time with each patient as needed look no further. STAY AWAY!!!! It has been a little over a year since I stepped in Dr. Orozco's office and let me tell you, it was a nightmare. This past year, I have paid thousands of dollars out of pocket in getting my teeth fixed from what Dr. Orozco and his associate had done to my mouth. I wish I have never walked in to his office. Before I came to Dr. Orozco, I am not the only patient that Dr. Orozco had screwed up on. I have heard he has screwed up on other people's teeth and done work that did not require any work! Please use caution with Dr. Orozco. He did a crown on my lower jaw. He didn't talk to me during the process, didn't even mention that the filling turned into a crown until I asked why I needed another appointment. When I asked questions during the process he was short and impatient, not even letting me finish asking my question. My mouth and jaw ached for two weeks ... even with 600mg ibuprofen leftover from a c-section (which wasn't nearly as painful). I have reservations about the "sterile" covers on the tools that were already torn open and looked as though they had been re-used. My sister has a friend who stopped using him 5 years ago and is STILL fixing work he did. Please use caution, I think he borders on negligent. read more

Dr. Orozco has been my dentist since I was a child and when I grew up moved away I have had other doctors ask me about my work and who it was completed by because it was just beautiful. One even asked for the doctor's name and information so that he could talk with him. He said has 15,000 patients in his practice and had rarely seen a crown as beautifully made. read more

Horrible Dentist/ Not An Orthodontist!!! This man caused so many problems for me. I don't know where to start... First, he is not an orthodontist. If you need an orthodontist, go see one who is actually qualified. He is a "cosmetic" dentist. I learned that the hard way. He had me wear a pallet widening device which did nothing but destroy my bite, giving me an open bite. When it came time for the braces to be put on he said he couldn't help me and complained about his hand and some surgery??? After he had already ruined my bite with the apparatus and I had paid for everything. He reimbursed half of the money and sent me away. That was in 2005, years later in 2011 I went to see Dr Jackson, a very qualified orthodontist. Her job was very difficult in straightening my teeth after Dr Orozco ruined my bite. She had to go out of her way just to review my treatment records from Dr Orozco as he would not release them to her. He knew the records would support malpractice. I had to have an extensive surgery on my jaw in accordance with the braces. Thank God she knew my oral surgeon at Kaiser and it was covered with insurance. I had my jaw surgically broken, both upper and lower, and cut into 6 pieces. Then, aligned with my teeth in braces and wired shut. The surgery went well and by the end of 2012 the braces were off and my bite was normal. Why am I posting a review now? Because I just had a tooth extracted that Dr Orozco had done a root canal on in 2004. Since then I have had work done on the gums surrounding the crown several times costing several thousand dollars. I had pain in my jaw above the root canal and major sinus issues. I went to my primary Dr and my oral surgeon and my periodontist. None of them could figure out what was going on. Finally, the tooth was extracted and my periodontist was shocked to see that Dr Orozco had used silver points/tips in my root canal. The AAE recommended against the use of silver points/tips in the 70's. Also, one of the tips went all the way into my sinus and had been that way for 12 years!!! Besides the pain and sinus issues, the silver causes a multitude of clinical problems in the surrounding area and throughout the body including cardiovascular issues and heart disease. Please do not go to this dentist, do your research and go to a dentist that family or friends refer. He can't practice as a dentist without patients. read more

This place doesn't even deserve one star!!!!!!! DON'T go here!!!!!!! They told me I need $1,000 of work. I wanted a second opinion because something didn't seem right. I brush twice a day and floss. I asked that they email my digital records to another place and she said I had to pay $50. I asked why she said because they need to be scanned, why do already digital records on a computer need to be scanned to be emailed?????? I told the other dental place that and they laughed and said I'm being ripped off. Sure enough I get on both yelp and google reviews and they both say how this dentist office tells you you need a million things done to your teeth when you really don't. And to top of off they make you wait forever to be seen. I got my teeth cleaned and waited almost an hour for the dentist to come in and tell me the findings!! But if you don't go to your appt they charge you $100 a hr. This place is nothing but a scam!! read more
