Nothing but good things to say about Dr. O'Brien and his team. I chipped a tooth over the weekend - nothing requiring an emergency visit - and I was able to make an appt for this AM, Wednesday. The front office staff let my ex-husband use my Care Credit Card via phone (account in my name only & of course now I have closed all possible ways for him to be able to access my account again) for a $2500 payment towards his $4800 Invisalign Braces case without my authorization. My card/account does not only have my first name on there, but my maiden last name as well. Therefore, even more reason for them to have not let my ex husband use my card as the last name did not even match his. Obvi all they were concerned about was making sure they collected money. Did not bother to call, email, text, mail, me anything for permission to do this, or anything for that matter regarding that transaction. I am now dealing with this legally. 100% Credit Card Fraud. I have to send an update to my last review but I had the best dental Experience in my life! I have always been very sensitive to the anesthetic and always concerned I'll have a bad reaction. #1 barely felt the injections #2 felt nothing during my temporary crown and #3 left the office with zero numbness. I finally received my permanent crown after 5 years of needing a replacement due to insurance reason and I am so happy with the results. I have recently changed insurance and I came to this practice based on reviews. I have such a great visit today and I think it might just be my best dental experience so far. They are pretty back up with their openings so I have to schedule my first appointment almost 2 months in advance. I assume that is due to their popularity. My hygienist , Alexa is sweet, experienced and professional, she took the time to explain each procedures and making sure I am comfortable. Assistant, Aurora is friendly and the receptionist (Emma?) is very so sweet and helpful. She has all my insurance coverage information and fees for the recommended procedures all printed out for me, which I really appreciate. Dr O'Brien, like other reviewers have mentioned, he is dedicated and really take his time with his patients, explaining his observation and recommendation, which make me feel I have become more educated about my teeth after the visit. I have not for any moment feel they were pushing or recommending any procedures that I don't need ( which is the main reason why I want to leave my previous dentist). I am so incredibly happy with my experience at La Mesa Family Dentistry! First off, I had a really traumatic dental surgery as a teen. I have been avoiding the dentist like the plague. But I was experiencing pain for awhile now and knew I needed to go. I was absolutely dreading it. I found Dr. O'Brien on Yelp and was happy to see he had nothing but 5 star reviews. So I took a chance and I am so glad I did. Dr. O'Brien and his staff were so patient and gentle with me. I ended up having to do a root canal as one of my teeth was cracked. I also needed a deep cleaning. Well my first appointment was scheduled for 3 hours and I was so nervous. But slowly my anxiety melted away because of the care of the Doc and his staff. They really communicated every move they were making and that really went far in putting me at ease. He listened to me when I was in pain, which went a long way in earning my trust. They did everything in there power to make me feel comfortable. Bonus, I enjoyed watching movies on my own personal TV during the procedures, which is a nice distraction. My husband and I absolutely love Dr. O'Brian and all his staff! My husband used to be really anxious with going to the dentist, but after he went for the first time he wouldn't stop telling me I should go because he loved his experience so much and felt taken care of by all the staff. In my experience, Dr. O'Brian is very informative and is always very clear with what he suggests and whether it is preventative or a necessary procedure. He also talks you through every step of the way while performing the procedure so you know exactly what is happening. I feel very comfortable with him and his staff and they have been so comforting and excited to see me each time. They even handle me and my ever changing schedule. I have been made wary of dentists because of horrible past experience but thanks to La Mesa Family Dentistry, I am starting to dread the dentist a little less each time I come in. I have some ongoing dental issues that require frequent appointments and before coming here, all of my past appointments would begin and end with me in tears. The entire staff at this location is kind, supportive, and knowledgeable. Dr OBrien is very patient. He explains every step he takes and really took every step possible to ensure that I was as comfortable as I could be. You never get the feeling that you're being rushed or that you're just a number in this office. Dr. Bolam has since retired but Dr. Michael O'Brien has done a phenomenal job in taking over the reigns. The staff is also incredibly friendly and accomodating. I was having trouble with cold sensitivity on one tooth and could not chew anything harder than a piece of bread on the tooth directly below without experiencing shooting pain. This had been going on for the past two years and was from work done at a different dentist. I went in for a cleaning and routine exam and explained the issues I was having. Dr. O'Brien and his staff took the time to figure out what was going on and stayed late to try to fix it. It made a huge difference and the fact that they took the time to make sure they were getting it just right really meant a lot. I can now chew on that side of my mouth again! Dr. O'Brien had also previously extracted one of my wisdom teeth. I was terrified going in for the extraction, but he explained the entire process and it was actually done before I even knew he had pulled the tooth. Went to dr obrian 3 years ago. Said I needed 2 fillings replaced and 2 cavities and a cracked tooth. Wanted to schedule me for appts to start work. I had no pain in my teeth so I said see ya and never went back. Totally turned me off to there office as they are super slow and try and sell u work. There hygienist takes forever and then he want to go over every X-ray when there is nothing there. I went in for a crown I probably didn't need and they left me prepped in the chair with an extender in my mouth for an hour. Worst dental experience ever. I went to a reputable dentist today. And guess what. I don't need any of that work. My teeth are in great shape. My husband has been going there and they are always selling him work. The office has a bunch of fancy new equipment and needs to pay for it. My husband is missing 2 teeth but is a heavy smoker and they keep trying to sell him implants. We all know implants probably won't hold with a smoker. and if he was going to get them u don't use a dentist. You go to a periodontist. DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTAL FACILITY. The first day I went there, I randomly called a few places as I was ready to lose my head because I was in so much pain. They took me in that day and I was out in the next hour feeling blessed due to his work.
