I had a root canal done by Dr. Cesar Jimenez in July 2024, and it was a great experience. I am very anxious when it comes to dental procedures, but the staff and nurses were very responsive and kind, and they helped ease my nerves. Dr. Jimenez is on the quiet side, but I am ok with that as he was very respectful, complied with my requests, and did an excellent, high-quality job with the surgery. I did NOT feel pain during the procedure, just the expected normal discomfort of having a stretched, open mouth for a long period. I did my part staying still and the office music helped me relax too. Most importantly, after I went home, the discomfort was so minimal that I didn't have to take any strong pain killer (which he prescribed just in case) but just one pill of over the counter ibuprofen was more than enough for a couple days. I took preventive antibiotics Dr. Jimenez prescribed, and the whole process was very tolerable and pleasant. I highly recommend this clinic. read more

I found Dr. Jimenez via my Anthem dental Insurance. This office was very easy to book with. Their forms are all electronically completed by the patient when they arrive which is fast and convenient; no downloading, printing, filling out, etc. I went for a check-up, cleaning and x-rays. The staff was polite and patient. Dr. Jimenez was gentle with the cleaning and did it himself vs. a dental tech. He did not try to upsell me anything which I really appreciated. I was concerned about gum recession and he told me I had normal gums and nothing to worry about. I would come back to this office. read more

Best Dentistry around :) Top Care 5 STAR This has to be the #1 dentistry I've ever seen. I previously had another practice place my dental crown incorrectly so there was an open margin. If left untreated this could have lead to decay underneath the crown which cannot be cleaned and possibly extraction of the whole tooth. The other practice offered to fix this at double the price of Sun Valley Dental. I ignored it until it started to bleed some time after that. When I came to Sun Valley, not only does this place have unbeatable pricing especially for those without or limited insurance, but it's the best patient care you can get. The exact day I called, they gave me an appointment and same day got the faulty crown removed and cleaned up all the decay underneath. The whole procedure was very smooth and painless. My tooth is saved and Dr. Jimenez was the one who discovered the open margin in the first place. (Which later my previous dentist who did the crown agreed with) Dr. Jimenez is a very educated and professional dentist and so are all his staff. He also would never tell you to get a procedure done unless you truly need it, unlike other areas that just try to farm money off things that potentially aren't even there. They all truly care for your heath. Throughout my entire time I felt comfortable and they explained everything clearly to me before and after the procedure. Very respectful and hardworking people and I can't think of one flaw to be honest. I recommend this dentistry to anyone who wants the best care. I'm saying so as someone who works in healthcare at the biggest healthcare/medical provider in all of San Diego. I went into have Dr. Jimenez look at my teeth however, he is all about Jesus!my first clue was seeing bibles at the reception desk marked "free take one" there was a guy in the waiting area passing out paper with his "how god saved me" on it. once I was in the chair the doctor came over and referencing my medical past/current Tate he said, " have you tried Jesus for your illnesses?" I became very taken aback and stayed quiet he pressed saying, " do you know Jesus Jesus the man?" I mumbled that I didn't believe in organized religion he continued to press his beliefs on me I stayed quiet which caused him to give up. he told me I needed three teeth pulled, root canals, and referred me to an oral surgeon. i asked for a treatment plan but he refused. needles to say I'm getting another dentists to look at my teeth. dr. Jemenez crosses boundaries he should not bring religion into his medical practice. So beware steer clear of sun valley dental! read more

Took me a long time to find a dentist this nice, that accepts Denta-Cal. Very efficient check-in online, using the computers in the lobby. Not crowded or too busy. Did take a while to be seen, but it gave me a chance to take a power nap while I waited I'm very germ-phobic, so I notice every detail of anything that looks dirty or contaminated-- and this place was absolutely sterile! Not even any dust on the pipes under the sink. EVERYTHING was covered in plastic, including the tool trays and lights... nice!... yet, I always wondered if they change out the plastic after every patient??? Dr. Jimenez, or Caesar, was kind and efficient. Told me everything looks good (sounded a little disappointed... i guess I'm a boring case ) and asked if I had any questions. The assistant was very friendly as was the front desk staff was as well. Very impressed. The only few things I would recommend is there be a more sterile mouth wash dispenser by the sink... I don't know who touched that bottle last or if anyone used the cup on top of it! -- but only someone w OCD would notice that! And maybe a magazine rack in the exam rooms, for entertainment while we wait. All in all, I do give this office 5 stars! I'll be coming back! read more

So I had to go to this dentist 3 times. This unethical and unprofessional dentist was working on ONE tooth for all those appointments that took up to 5 hours each. At first it was supposed to be a root canal while I had an infection. He mistakenly did not think it was an infection and proceeded to tell me it was not any thing to worry about, Then the next day I ended up having a really bad pain and ever since then I had not been able to sleep, eat right, and my face has been swollen. He also attempted to prescribe me medication that did not help at all. I went again, to find out what was wrong he then took X-rays and said I was fine for the second time which was wrong because I still had a lot of pain and he went over filled the root canal. Then the last time I went he attempted to redo my root canal and while I was in pain his assistant kept blaming me for the pain and kept on rudely saying it was because I was moving to much. I kept asking for them to stop and slow down and give me novocaine because I could still feel it they refused to do it. I felt tortured and would not like anyone else to feel that way. This whole situation was awful and I would never go back. This dentist was very unprofessional and kept being distracted by his assistant and was talking about nonsense that had nothing to do with my procedure. Do yourself a favor, skip this dentist and find a different one. Unless you want to tortured and ridiculed. read more

I saw Dr. Jimenez in August of 2012. Let me just start by saying Dr Jimenez's receptionist is great, love her. But he is an a-hole with a capital A. I have very bad anxiety when it comes to dentists and I always break down to tears when I'm in the chair. This doctor made that even worse. He seemed very annoyed that I was upset and hurried to get me out of his office without doing any work on me. Jimenez and his team: Poor "chair side" manner and incompetent personnel. Upon check-in @ 10:45am for my 11am appt. receptionist said she had no record of my appointment and asked if I was even at the right dentist. I had to explain our conversation that we had a few days ago when she called to confirm the appointment. (They had some other name as my first name). Finally, called back around 11:30. The dental assistant wanted to take an xray (even though I already brought in a copy of it from my referring dentist). Dental Asst said my dentist probably used "film" xrays, but there at Sun Valley they use digital...hmmm that's funny my copy was from a digital xray. The dental asst, went on to tell me that the root canal should take about 1 to 1.5 hrs depending on the patient, but they (the staff) planned to take lunch at 1pm, so well it really depends on the patient. I said, "so, he's going to try to rush through it then?". She told me I would be just fine, she then shows me the xray of my tooth on this computer screen in front of my chair. She says that since my tooth is a bottom molar it most likely has 2 canals and doesn't take long to do the root canal as opposed the the upper molars where there are 3 canals. Then, she goes on to show me what the dental dam looks like. I told her I used one of those before with my previous root canals some 15yrs ago. She told me that it really helps when the dr. shoots this cleaning agent down your tooth to cleanse the area and that it has a really bad taste, but the dental dam really helps. At this point, I'm told to raise my left hand if and when I'm in pain. Then, the dr comes in and asks how I heard about Sun Valley (I'm a referral, my dentist is a general dentist he doesn't perform root canals, the dr at Sun Valley is a general dentist too, he does root canals, but I guess he doesn't have nitrous oxide or at least he didn't offer me any) and he didn't look to happy that I was referred. He then starts the numb the area, when he pokes the needle into my gums and twists it from side to side. I could here grinding noises as he was digging the needle more into my gums and jaw. Of, course I kept raising my left hand for the pain and each time he had to stop, I could tell he was growing more impatient with me. Finally, done, he said coldly that we have to wait and he left the room. When, he comes back he then places this bite block on the left side of my mouth. I then hear the assistant ask him if he wants to use the dental dam, he says, "No". Then, he takes this syringe and shoots some chemical down my tooth. Most of it drips down the side of my gums, right down my throat. It tastes horrible and I start choking. The doctor then walks out again. I am still choking with the bite block in my mouth and can't even get a swallow in with my mouth open so wide. The assistant says nothing to me. Once, the dr returns he begin the root canal. At one point he is digging so deep in one of the canals I can't take the pain and automatically I flinch and try to raise my left arm, but it was hard to bring it up from under the bib and from the assistant crowding over my left side. Then, the dr rebukes me in a loud voice saying that I am too "jumpy" and that the instruments could easily cut my tongue, that I need to be still and if it hurts to raise my left hand. I then, hammered back at him and said that I couldn't help it, I did try to raise my left hand, but it got caught under the bib and the assistant is hovering over my left side. So, then I kind of put my left hand in an upward position, just to keep it there. He then, tells the assistant to refer me to endodontist and walks out. What a jerk! read more

After growing up on Western Dental (we all have horror stories), & then working without dental coverage for yrs I was scared to see anyone & terrified of the impending pain. But Dr Jimenez was gentle & kind, didn't even give me a guilt trip about not flossing (we all know we should but don't). He's NEVER hurt me & I'm even going through adult braces right now. From professionalism and chair side manner are of the best that I have ever experienced and have worked with some of the best Health Care Providers in the world as a Special Forces medic. Dr Jimenez is simply the finest cosmetic dentist I've ever experienced. He is SO HIGHLY SKILLED and took more time than he anticipated to accommodate my needs.
