This bakery has been a staple of the Smithtown area for years. My favorite, the Italian jelly cookies are just as good, if not better, than the old school Italian bakeries in Brooklyn (most of which have closed down). Cakes, pastries, and cookies from supermarket bakeries do not come close to Alpine. A few years ago my family and I did think that the quality went down slightly and took a break from buying anything from here for awhile. After going back to Alpine this past Mother's day (and several times since), I'm happy to report that they're back in full swing and actually better than ever (a huge relief!). My sister and I ordered a yellow cake filled with cannoli cream. The cake was absolutely delicious. It was super moist and the cannoli filling was excellent with the whipped cream icing. To start off I was looking for a bakery to get cupcakes to do my sisters gender reveal. Alpine was the one I found that was local with one of the highest ratings. I went there and I must say it smells amazing, the displays were amazing and it was extremely clean! It was very crowded being that Christmas time was around the corner. They managed to get the cupcakes done in under an hour. I purchased 15 cupcakes for 57). I was expecting he highest quality.. I also bought chocolate chip cookies which looked great but ended up tasting like a mouth full of cinnamon. When I brought the cupcakes home my sister and boyfriend took a bite into the cupcakes and there was no color. We were very confused and beyond disappointed. I told them keep biting and there was still no color.. I even bit into one to see if there was color and there wasn't. The cupcakes tasted HORRIBLE. they were supposed to be chocolate and ended up tasting like old Italian cookies that have been sitting out for a while. The buttermilk was literally disgusting. We literally had to mutilate/ take apart the cupcake with a a knife and spoon to find the gender. I would not suggest this bakery unless you're looking for a table centerpiece that you're not eating. on a bright note; it was a boy! read more

While this bakery has really delicious treats, I am always disappointed by the staff. I realize they are usually swamped, but even when they are not, they tend to not meet your gaze, not interact with you, except somewhat robotic and many don't give you a smile or are welcoming. For some reason, that always sits badly with me. When I called to attempt to order 50 pies for Thanksgiving (way in advance), they acted as if they didn't want my order and this would be a hassle for them. I went elsewhere. So, I love their food and if that's all that matters, please don't pass Alpine. There are more expensive than other good bakeries in the area, but they have a wider selection. read more

The BEST italian pastries. Unfortunately they are not close to the city, but I can assure you they have the best canoli's and napoleons. The canoli's are filled fresh so the shells don't get mushy. Terrible customer service at a bakery that used to be much better. Even the baked goods have gone downhill in recent years and nothing is fresh, but the workers will lie and say it was just made today. My most recent issue was today, After finding a hair baked into a cupcake I bought I brought it back to show them and was treated rudely, not apologized to, and refunded a price different than what I paid yesterday. It is so hard for me to find cannolis that taste this good anywhere else! ! I live out of state so I'll usually just bring the shells and cannoli cream separately and put them together for my friends. They have the best rainbow cookies and I cannot get them anywhere else!! The pignoli cookies are expensive but that's for the nuts but they are delicious!! I love their raspberry mousse cheesecake and pumpkin cheesecake but honestly all of their cheesecakes are delicious!! Their silk and satins are delicious! Lobster tails, napoleons, whipped cream eclairs and the ones with lobster cream but in a lace cookie are delicious! I love their semolina bread and strawberry shortcake! ! The prices here can be somewhat expensive depending what you get, but anything you choose will be incredible!!! All of their cookies, pastries, cakes and bread is amazing!!! I stopped in here to try their version of the Cronut. Well, I purchased 5 regular glazed Cronuts at $3.50 a piece (are you kidding me). I have seen jelly or cannoli filled ones for that price. They were absolutely the worst I have ever tasted. It was a croissant with glaze on top. Absolutely disgusting and overpriced! $17.50 for 5 cronuts? Never again. The only pictures we had to look at were on a computer - which is fine, except the store got busy and the sales people kicked us off the computer so they could take care of another customer. Apparently customer service is not in this woman's vocabulary and our event is of no importance. I absolutely love this bakery. They always give out coupons in the mail which they allow you to copy and use multiple a different points even if they are expired. I highly recommend their marble cheesecake. They are a little pricey but in the end I believe it is worth it! Staff is always friendly which is also a plus. My advice is if you're looking to get some pastries or cake on a holiday I would leave early in the morning because the line will be wrapped around the parking lot that they're located at. read more
