Came in for acne treatments, Manuel Peña burned a chunk of my hair while doing a laser treatment. He seemed in a rush and I felt he was doing a careless job. It took a while for my hair to grow back and the treatments didn't work $2000 down the drain. I don't recommend getting treatments with him the other MDs were nice and patient. Additionally my mother went in hoping to get rid of her milia, she felt he again was being careless and when she went to get them removed she felt something was off. It's been over a month, my mother has scaring and still has milia. Please save your money and time and don't ever come here. read more

My apologies to Dr. Pena and his entire staff as this review is long overdue. I can't say enough wonderful things about Dr. Pena. He is a wonderful, kind hearted, generous, patient human being and we need more people like him in this world. I have skin that doesn't do what it is supposed to do, and Dr. Pena always makes time for me when my skin surprises me with something unexpected. He has been so patience and is always thinking of ways to improve my condition, but is confident we can get my skin to a place where we are both satisfied. He's been extremely patient when I panic, spurt things out of freaking out, and Dr. Pena reassures me, and tells me there's always a way we can fix things--I just need to be patient while we work things through. Right now we're working on various techniques, and hopefully soon, we may be at a place where we can find a solution that could work with regular maintenance. He is truly amazing. Dr. Pena takes pride in his work in trying to work with my skin, and I'm so glad he continues to give me hope. I have faith in him because he is an excellent doctor, cares about his patients, goes out of way to ensure his patients get the proper care and even if it takes extra time, he's always willing to go above and beyond. He's also down to earth and very genuine. He consistently follows up as well. Dr. Pena has been wonderful to me. And Its really Covid conscious but the receptionist is not to cordial with patients, she comes off as rude and unprofessional., I would love them to have a more friendly or people person as a front face to this clinic. Wow am I happy I found this place! I have been to 4 different places for my skin and yet to have found the service that was #1! Finally found it guys this place is #1! They take the time to speak with you and educate you! Look it's not cheap to deal with acne, age spots or overall cosmetic procedure so you want to find the right place! My sister came here and her skin improved drastically it was so amazing I begged her to tell me where she went! On August 11, I was stopping at a friend's office to drop something off. Her office is just adjacent to the Alquimia Med Spa, up a flight of stairs. I parked in the lot next to the main building, knowing I would only be there max 5 minutes. I parked my car, and this woman, in scrubs, approached me and asked if I was going to be going into the building. I said yes, because my friend's office is practically attached to the spa. She walked ahead of me, and as I walked past she SCOLDED me. She said "you can't park here if you're not going into the building. That staircase is not attached. I need to be sure MY EMPLOYEES get a space. I tried to explain that I was only going to be gone a moment and that the stairs are practically attached to the spa. She was insistent, and I did not want to get towed later on. So I ended up moving my car on another street, just to drop something off. Now mind you, I have been a client of the spa several times now. This woman was short, with dark hair, in nurse scrubs, and seemed to be a manager of some kind. I won't be returning to the spa ever again. She was rude, disrespectful, and completely unreasonable. I don't believe there are any signs indicating that parking is restricted. My mother referred me to Dr Pena after I had mentioned that I needed to see someone about my dark spots/acne scars. She had done a chemical peel and her skin now looks amazing. I went in for my appt, was seen right away and was impressed by Dr Penas knowledge of skin and skin care. He recommended some creams that would help even out my skin tone and from his recommendation the peel was optional and I didn't feel pressured to get one. The creams were each $100 but I'm sure it's worth it. I'll come back and let you guys know how well they work in 2 or 3 months. This doctor is a SCAMMER! I came here for acne scaring. I came into this place with a little acne scarring and spent a lot of money for treatment. It left me with terrible acne and a lot more acne scaring. Plus i started to grow a little bit of hair on my face which i never had!!I kept trying to ask questions and if I should be taking pills because I've read it's an Internal problem and he would just brush it off not be specific and push for creams. He didn't even take off my makeup and examine my skin. He just saw dollar signs. This guy should have his license take away because he left my skin really messed up. I recently visited Alquimia Med Spa in San Carlos. After consulting with Dr. Pena, we decided on the Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) treatment. I have had different treatments in the past and I have to say, I have never had more people stop and comment on how great my skin looks. There was a very short period of some redness and tightness which was gone in a few hours. No Pain, swelling or peeling and I immediately noticed my skin looked more soft and youthful. I went to my consultation and I Dr. Pena answered all my questions i felt confident and went for it. I had a liposuction and a fat transfer. I knew it was going to be local anesthesia I did not worry about thought it was going to be few pinches however the anesthesia was injected with a 8 to 10" long needle. The anesthesia was injected every inch of my body. It was a very slow and painful process. After they did the lipo, the doctor started to transfer the fat to my buttocks but that process is without anesthesia which by the way NO ONE MENTION IT TO ME. The fat transfer in between the muscle. It is like having baby..... VERY PAINFUL. I was told i was going to be able to go back to work in 2 to 3 weeks. After 2 months i was still in pain and unable to sit for more than 30 min. I have several issues with the garment and the person that suppose to help with that has a terrible attitude. It is obvious she hates her job and clients have to paid the price for it. It's been several months since I have my lipo and my stomach still hurts and is almost the same as it was before. The majority of the fat was absorbed now my butt looks like I have cellulite so I did not get the results i was expecting and i spent all my savings on it. read more
