They first rescheduled my appointment, and then when I arrived just 8 minutes late because parking in downtown Burlingame is absolutely horrible, they refused to honor my appointment. Downtown Burlingame is already incredibly difficult to navigate and find parking in, and on top of that, this place has these extremely strict rules about punctuality as if no one in the world has ever been 8 minutes late. I came here a few weeks ago to get the free 10 units of botox. I got the lip flip and the whole process was very smooth. I just called online and the girl on the phone was super sweet. After multiple visits they finally tell me there are two different machines they use and that I can chose the other which is more tolerable to many people. Second, they're crooks. They'll charge you for services you never agreed to. They'll sell you a package and then not notify you when it expires. They'll be happy to schedule you more visits without letting you know you will be charged. If they were trying to provide an honest service their policy would be to notify people in this situation, but it's not. The man I spoke with was dismissive and repeatedly fixated on the fact that I had purchased a Groupon, pushing me to buy an additional package to cover my full legs. I made it clear multiple times that I chose Groupon intentionally because I could not afford the in-house bundles and was comfortable proceeding with lower legs only. His tone felt judgmental and presumptive about my financial situation, as though I was making a poor choice rather than an informed one. I ultimately stood my ground, opting to start with lower legs and potentially invest more later if I was satisfied with the service. At my first appointment, the treatment itself went smoothly. However, at checkout, the receptionist again made pointed comments about my Groupon purchase and attempted to upsell me on an additional package, calling it "the best savings." I declined politely, though it was becoming uncomfortable to feel singled out for how I chose to pay. That night--and for nearly two weeks afterward--I experienced severe, deep itchiness in the treated area. As an esthetician, I tried every appropriate remedy: aloe, hydrocortisone, and antihistamines. Nothing helped. When I called Sev seeking guidance, I was hung up on. I was left suffering without answers or support. By my next appointment, the reaction had subsided, and I asked the nurse what could have caused it. She suggested a possible allergic reaction to the laser, though I explained that I had undergone laser treatments elsewhere in the past without any issues and that no remedies had provided relief. She wasn't sure but speculated that my hair thickness could be contributing and that it might improve over time. Unfortunately, it did not. On my fourth visit, despite consistently booking Monday noon appointments, the receptionist insisted I was late and told me I needed to reschedule. When I asked about the late policy or what time she had me scheduled for, she refused to clarify. I later pulled up both email and text confirmations proving I was on time and that she was incorrect. Even then, she laughed it off and still insisted I reschedule without explaining the policy. I eventually contacted the manager, who acknowledged that this receptionist had been an ongoing issue. The manager was empathetic, professional, and kind, and she offered me a complimentary service for the inconvenience. This is the sole reason this location receives even one star from me. The manager and nurses were consistently compassionate and respectful. By my fifth session, however, I was still experiencing intense itchiness after each treatment. At that point, I decided to stop altogether. I accepted the complimentary service out of respect for the manager, but I will not return. I chose to go back to a previous laser provider where I never had adverse reactions. To be clear: the issue is not Groupon. The issue is how customers who use Groupon are treated. The repeated upselling, dismissive attitudes, and subtle discrimination made me feel lesser and unwelcome. If offering Groupon services is such a burden, then don't offer them. The laser is the best (i've tried three different places except laseraway) and out of the 4 places i've tried, this one is the best in my opinion in terms of results and pain. The treatment results were excellent, but the administrative processes and customer service policies were disappointing. I had assumed that the staff would inform me of how many sessions remained in my prepaid package. When I arrived for another treatment, I was unexpectedly charged for an additional session because my package had already been completed. I was told that it was my responsibility to track this info by the emails they send. . While I understand the importance of personal accountability, a simple courtesy reminder or confirmation from the staff would go a long way in providing a positive client experience. As a working mother with limited time, I appreciate businesses that proactively communicate and make things easy for their clients. Unfortunately, when I reached out to management with a polite and honest email expressing my concerns, my feedback was met with no acknowledgment, empathy, or consolation... and it seems as if nothing has changed. Very cute interior and nice staff + a great location. Unfortunately, after 5 full body sessions and maybe 2500 dollars later, I didn't see even 1% of progress. I know it takes more to see the result, but I went to prolase in Glendale and saw more than 30% of my hair not coming back after 3 or 4 sessions, so I do not trust spending more money if I don't even see an inch of progress. Disappointing. Also, I went to one laser hair facility for 5 sessions over 5 years ago in Southern California. I do not hop around from one facility to another. It does not feel likely the reason I did not see result from sev. Do not purchase on Groupon! I was finally able to get a refund from Groupon. An SEV employee suggested that I then use the Groupon credit to purchase the large size option. I wanted to do full legs from the beginning. The charge on the website is $239 for full legs and on Groupon I could now purchase a 'large six session area' that would cover half legs and then I'd pay the remainder of what was due from the $239 full legs session. Seemed fair to me. But that is not what I was offered upon returning for my second session. Now I needed to split the cost. $179 for, 1 return to be used as the patient. I have been coming here for laser treatments for the last year or so and every single nurse is quick, informational, and thorough. In general, SEV is really good at sending their pre-/post- treatment care information before every appointment. I am so pleased with my results and if I could give 5 stars to all the nurses who helped me, I would! Today especially, Frangelica was super patient with double checking if the medication I took was cleared for me to proceed with the laser treatment. I also remembered that I had a spray tan and she graciously double checked if I was cleared to proceed too in regard to timing. I really appreciate how helpful she was, despite my misstep that I should've known better in regard to timing (This is why SEV always sends their pre/post care information!). The treatment itself is good, and the nurses are knowledgeable. However, the front desk staff needs better training, especially when it comes to scheduling and communication. I was told I needed to answer a call from the NP to approve my treatment, even though this was not my first time receiving this treatment. I repeatedly explained this to Vianna at the front desk, but she did not listen and insisted the call was necessary. What made this more frustrating is that the NP called without any prior notice. Clients should not be expected to answer calls at any time at the clinic's convenience. If a call is required, there should be a scheduled date and time. Missing the call resulted in my treatment needing to be rescheduled, which I find very unreasonable. Additionally, the NP, Jennifer, was rude during the call, and overall the call felt unnecessary since it was not my first treatment. This situation was caused by a front desk mistake that I tried to correct multiple times but was ignored. I never leave mid reviews but felt like SEV Burlingame needed to hear this. Ive been in customer service for 15+ years and while I didn't receive BAD customer service it was really just mediocre and that is why I am going somewhere else now that my package is done. Ive been going here for one year now and every single time I walked in, the staff at the front desk was very cold.. they never acknowledged that I was a repeat customer and never remembered my name, they always wore black masks on their face.. just very cold and uninterested. Finally on my very last appointment I had a friendly greeting and conversation with someone new working the front desk and she had never met me before! Every time I go into the laser appointment the nurses are nice but same thing.. they ask me the same exact questions and treat me like I am brand new and had never been there before. It got old and tiresome. I would tell them the same thing every time: yes yes Ive been here all year.. can you stop making me tell you about the same medical condition that makes me come here. I know you guys keep some sort of file in there!! Anyways if I felt like I had built a relationship with anyone there then I would have stayed loyal.. esp since I love Burlingame Ave! The laser hair removal is too good that it almost seems sketchy. I got quotes from places charging roughly $2500 for a set of 6 treatments, the equivalent at SEV was $200. It was my first time getting laser hair removal, so I was a bit skeptical if it would work or be the same qualify due to the extreme price difference. But even with one treatment I saw basically no hair grow back and I was in and out of the appointment within 10min. The staff was really nice and professional the place was super clean and in a convenient area that parking wasn't too hard to find. I had completed a series of treatments at a different spa in LA with excellent results. I came here for touch ups since there was still some hair left since they use the same laser. Unfortunately, it made my hair grow back thicker. I told them at 2 visits that I was not experiencing any hair removal from the prior treatment and asked them to turn up the setting but it still doesn't seem like that helped. read more

My twentieth session, I've been to many locations never had this bad of a experience. The clearly untrained Nurse took the entire top of my left eyebrow off. She did not use a popsicle stick and when I showed her my eyebrow hair in my hand she denied lasering it off. Been a month eyebrow still hasn't grown back. Don't come here if you're expecting attention to detail and want to keep your brows. The nurses here are never the same which means high turnover and untrained personnel. As for the follow up from the business. They emailed me to offer me a full body touch up appointment. I paid for a full body for an hour and 15 and there's large patches missed, a touch up will not fix that. Most importantly, they cannot make my eyebrow grow back there's really nothing here I expected from the business except accountability and a refund. read more

NOT PERMANENT hair removal SEV Laser's services are no longer advertised as permanent hair removal, but rather "TEMPORARY hair reduction" (up to 80%). That was not the case in 2022 when I started my LHR journey with them. So you're never going to be 100% hair free with their lasers. Call them or ask your nurse about it. You'll be as surprised as I was when I recently found this out. You'll need about 20-30 sessions to get to that 80% hair reduction point and then you'll have to do another 2-4 sessions every single year for maintenance. According to their lead nurse, if you stop- the hair will grow back! Electrolysis is the ONLY FDA approved permanent hair removal method, everything else is just good marketing. ____________________________________________________________________ 13 laser sessions without results - don't repeat my mistakes! I started my laser sessions at SEV Burlingame in 2022 (yes, that long ago!). In 13 sessions I only got a little bit of hair thinning, nothing more. When I was complaining about my poor results, the nurses kept increasing my settings and recommending more sessions. A lot of sessions were done at the highest level, yet results didn't improve. After the 13th session I decided to go to a different place in hopes that maybe I'll get better results there. I was right. I saw significant improvements days later. Days! Not years! I had 3 sessions done at the new place so far and I think I'll only need 2 more to get perfect results. Apparently, I don't need 20-30 sessions, only 5-6 but done correctly by people that are genuinely trying to provide a good service. From my experience I've learned that you should see changes after your first session and if you don't have significant improvements after 3, then you won't see them after 10 more sessions either. When something is working- you'll see results, when something is not working- you'll hear a lot of excuses. And I've heard them all at SEV Burlingame. Also, don't get fooled by the good reviews. The majority of them are written by people that completed only 1-2 sessions and are happy that the nurses are nice and the procedure wasn't painful. You won't see many reviews from people that finally got the promised results and how many sessions, thousands of dollars and years of their life took to get there. Laser hair removal is a service like any other and as a consumer you have rights. There are many organizations that can help you protect them. However, it was impossible to get an appointment within 3 months there, so I ended up booking my appointments with SEV in Burlingame. I'm so glad I did. It's easy to find parking, the place is spacious, clean, and I have always had a good experience. They are strict about timeliness, so please get here on time or else risk losing your appointment. Would definitely not recommend. Got a package deal for my daughter was told 6 sessions should show a significant difference, she did 4 then went away to college for a semester. She saw NO improvement after 4, when I called to see if she could finish her last two sessions they said they already expired and she would need 12 sessions to see a difference. Not sure if they just use outdated equipment or didn't turn it up high enough. To not see a difference after 4 treatments is crazy. At minimum a small improvement should be happening even after just the first treatment. I know this because I have had it done before myself. Plus their customer service sucks! They should honor the last two treatments just in good faith to keep customers. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!
