Mike was able to quickly diagnose an issue I had with my triumph for months. I kept circling around thinking it was a power issue but after upgrading the battery to no avail it was a frayed wire to my starter relay. This place truly sucks !!! I took my BMW Dakar there about 4 years ago. I was having a surging stalling problem, and the owner said he could fix it no problem. (truth is they don't know crap about BMW's) What this place likes to do as well as other Motorcycle mechanic's is "store" your bike till the owner is willing to pay to get it back. That's what these guys tried and I called them out on it. He tried giving me some bllsht about ordering a part, and then weeks later when I bugged him about it he said "oh....yeah I got the part in now" I went down there and said "show me the part " and lied about not knowing where it is. He lied several times saying they had my bike apart at that very moment , so since I live near by I checked and NO !!!! it was parked in another area . So they tried to keep my bike hostage and I got in their faces and made the little piece of crap almost cry. I know so many peeps who have had a problem with these guys. I had some weird problems with my bike, such as the key to the ignition was stuck in the gas tank and no other shop or person that looked at it and tried to get the key out could actually do so. They got that done in just a second and acted like, why has this been such a problem for you? Clearly, they knew what they were doing, had seen it all before, and were very experienced. They fixed the rest of the issues fast, offered to deliver the bike to me, they were inexpensive and they suggested a wheel lock that I cannot imagine having the bike and it not getting stolen without. They gave me a cool keychain for free and they were never bothersome, didn't call me off the hook to ask a dumb question like other auto shops and mechanics do. They really know what they are doing when it comes to motorcycles and are experts at repairing all makes and models. read more

Wish I would've read these before taking my bike in for service. First off it took them a week to do a tune up. Al was super nice and helpful until i got my bike home and it didn't start and he said it wasn't his problem. He said bring it back in and he would charge me to fix it and then he started insulting me. Great customer service Al. Mind you this wasn't even why i took it in to get serviced. it always started just fine until they got a hold of it. Now brake light won't turn off, had to get a new battery, it started spewing antifreeze a day later and it's stalling every time i stop. Don't be fooled by their cheap prices. i know you have experienced mechanic there, but who ever changed my tire he doesn't looks like experienced. take long time to put tire on one my wheel. even you went up to him and asked him what takes so long. and that guys have hard time to put tire to wheel. WARNING: Talk to as many other cycle shops as you can (at least 3 or 4). Then ask them if they've ever heard anything about Al's Cycle Shop. You will be amazed how many people also have bad experiences at Al's shop. I went helmet and accessories shopping a few months after the below incident. I overheard two shoppers talking about repair shops. The guy was looking at a list of shops on his phone, when he asked about Al's Cycle Shop, the other guy laughed and said something like "stay away from that dump". Shocker!! IN RESPONSE TO THE CYCLE SHOP EMPLOYEE WHO RESPONDED WITH A LIE: I didn't read beyond the second sentence because this guy started off with a lie right off the bat. I did not go back to the shop a month after getting my kickstand fixed, as this person falsely claims. I called Al as soon as I got home from picking up my bike from his shop after getting the kickstand replaced. I clearly remember making a stop at the bottom of the hill on my street and hearing a grinding sound coming from the front of my bike that was not there before. Again, this is a bike that was inspected at Sherman Oaks Vespa in late Jan. 2012. I didn't start riding the bike on a regular basis until early March (lots of rain that winter). Went to Al's shop in April 2012. Breaks were brand new and should not have been making a grinding sound. I brought the bike back to Al's shop several days after getting the kickstand repaired. I still have receipts from the first day of service at Al's shop and the refund receipt from the very last day that I picked my bike up and never returned. The time span between the first kick stand repair and that final day was 3 weeks. So how can you say that I waited a month to go back to complain about the noises? Al and his team are a group of lying unprofessional people who feel the need to discredit customers that they tried to ripoff. I hope for their sake someone doesn't send over an undercover AP reporter or consumer protection investigator who will get scammed and will shut them down for good. They're messing around with peoples safety just to get a few extra bucks out of them and then getting on Yelp to argue over it. Maybe if you spent less time on Yelp arguing with customers and more time fixing bikes or better yet learning how to fix bikes you wont have bad reviews to defend yourselves against. Very immoral and unethical! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Zero stars. This is only a side note: the very 1st time a went to this shop I heard Al tell a customer to write a nice Yelp review. I now know why he desperately needs them. Took my vespa to get kick stand repaired in late March & decided to throw in a tune up. HUGE MISTAKE. Heard a rattle sound and noises from my brakes immediately after riding the scooter from Al's Cycle (by the way, scooter has only been ridden for a little over 2 months and had a inspection & tune up at vespa dealer in Sherman oaks). I went back to complain & in good faith left the bike to be inspected. I left it Thursday 4/19 and said i could leave it until Monday 4/23. Monday afternoon comes & i hadn't received a call so i decide to.check in. The receptionist tells me they haven't even put the scooter on the lift so they don't know what the problem is yet. I wait 2 more days then decide I'm not waiting anymore and I'm going to pick up my bike. Its been 6 days at this point & they supposedly have not even looked at it. I go to the shop wed 4/25 to pick up the bike. Al explains to me that he was waiting for parts to come in from Vespa. I'm asking him why he's ordering parts if i just asked for them to diagnose the problem. And regardless of anything why is it taking 6 days to inspect the scooter and to give me a call & let me know whats going on. He gives me excuses about his mechanic being sick & then lies saying he called & left me a bunch of messages in the last couple of days. I basically let him know what a fool i am NOT. I demanded a refund for work that was not.performed (I'm still confused by his explanation for this). I informed him that I am having my bike inspected and if anything is out of the ordinary I will pursue legal action. He became defensive of course. But somehow i left the shop with a refund a a free brakes. Why would a mechanic just give you FREE brakes? I know......because he did something unethical & I threatened him with legal action. Sorry Al, free brakes wont buy you immunity. Just confirms your guilt. This time when I rode my bike from Al's shop the noises were even louder and the front brakes was practically not working at all. I thought I was actually going to break down in the middle of the street. How did my bike go from needing a kickstand repair to having no front brakes and rotor sounds? Just like everyone here says "STAY AWAY FROM THIS SHOP ". i had taken my gsxr there a while back due to a accident in the freeway . i needed alot of parts replaced ( mainly on the left side ; rotor, reservoir , rotor cover ,regulator, motor welding ) he gives me a quote which was reasonable and says itll take about a week or so. HAHAH if only i knew. he kept my bike for about a month and some days , not only did he come up with excuses about his tardiness (all lies btw id pass by and call about the motor being sent out for welding hed say " yep! " id see my bike parked in tact lol ) but i also had to help him find a part on ebay which he nor his " experienced employees" could find . he fails to do a thing called " courtesy calls ' this to them is like a plague ( like their shop) they stay away. after the misleading quota we had agreed on he then tells me " you need a new battery the one you have is dead" that battery was only 4 months old. yeah the battery died since their people didnt bother turning it on every now and then. he then tried selling me a battery i said no bought one from another shop and installed it.he also tried to steal my right fairing, turning signals and custom light strips. so PLEASE, save yourself a headache and time,go to another shop. youll be happier that you did. and if AL reads this ; its Elliott :2000 gsxr 750 read more

I go in for a new back tire, rear break change, and carb clean which they did and even replaced the fuel filter. They then recommended a new clutch. I gave them the go on the clutch. They called me to pick up the bike on saturday but when I went on monday they had not test drove it yet after the repair so I asked them to do so because I didn't feel like dying that day. When they turned the keys over to me they suggested new engine gaskets and a new muffler because of all the backfire. I wasn't born yesterday! I took it home, cleaned the engine oil off the engine and no more oil spills. I checked the connections around the muffler and there's air leaking everywhere. I know very well that a bad muffler installation causes problems and I'm sure so did they. I took the muffler off and noticed all the bolts were loos or improperly used. I'm starting to think it didn't need a new clutch since it only has about 18K on it. They're negligent or just trying to make more money, it doesn't matter. The job was done wrong and they shouldn't be allowed to do business. How many poor people that know mechanics about the bikes they ride could they be ripping off? read more

STAY AWAY FROM HERE AND TAKE YOUR BIKE SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!! My 600 gsx was destroyed by this shop. They completely destroyed my engine, and had the NERVE to tell me I had to pay for it... this is after a series of issues... I remember the first time i took my bike to them... they towed it there and back, and parked my bike in a red zone. It was towed away, and Al refused to pay for the charges. I paid, at one point, over $350 for a tune up new brakes.. mirrors.. wind screen... etc.... only to find my brakes still squeeking, and leaky fluid from beneath the bike... They are ALL very good crooks. liars. Cheaters. Whatever you call it. I got screwed from a perfectly good bike... $2300 dollar bike down the drain. I wish i had someone to warn me.. so consider this your one and only warning. DO NOT GO THERE- PAY THE EXTRA TO GO SOMEWHERE ELSE... Trust me and the other reviewers... please..... no matter how cheap their prices are compared to other shops (i know they sound highly appealing...).. understand that you will get what you pay for... AND LESS. And Al, i hope you are reading this... All of your wrong doings are going to catch up to you and your entire staff.. I came in with no tread on my rear tire, burnt engine oil, and a dry chain. $340 later I had a brand new michelin tire, clean oil & filter, and a nice greased & adjusted chain. Great customer service. Spent maybe 45 minutes with at the shop and it felt like I was there 15 with family talking and laughing telling motorcycle stories. I've been meaning to pay appreciation for the job Al and his team did my Malaguti scooter. I brought it in a couple weeks back and Al and his team diagnosed the problem (the belts were shot from not being changed since I got the scooter). Gave me a great price and had it done quick! When I picked it up it was running good. But the next day I drove it another problem had occurred. There was a hole in my carburetor diaphragm!! Al and his team fixed that for free and I was back on the road!! I just want say thanks so much to Al and his team. Got a customer for life!! read more

This is the worst shop I'd ever been to. I went there for a new tire which was fine but got some BS recommendations for work. Declined but they offered to store my bike while I was travelling for $50 - great deal right? When I got back in town, they delayed me getting my bike back (something about it being deeply blocked in), after a few days of this I finally just went down there and discovered they had been using my bike for parts! Never bring your bike here. These guys are bandits and are also terrible at repair. You're better off trying to fix it yourself with a wrench and a hammer. read more

This review is the Mike (the "harley" mechanic) and Al the shop owner. I cannot speak for the other mechanics. Really messed my bike up late last year, but I never got around to writing about it. Figured people should know before they trust their bike with these guys. I brought my bike into Al's to install a couple performance parts and fix a small transmission leak. Nearly a month and a half of being bike less and 4 times back into the shop, my bike had a knocking noise coming from the transmission, which was never a problem. This knocking noise started after I brought the bike back for a new and worse transmission leak, just two days after "the repair". (This leak was way worse then the couple of drips I had originally brought it in for) Mike took apart my transmission, assuming he knew what the problem was. He replaced a bearing, main shaft, and a front pulley to fix the noise he created after working on my bike, and charged me for it. None of those replacement parts were the reason for the original leak or knocking noise. And to add, my bike slips in first gear now. In the end, I took the bike to another shop 2 days later and the knocking noise was fixed by installing, tightening, and torquing everything correctly. read more

The people were nice, communication and urgency were lacking. My electrical issues were sorted but I had to reach out to the shop a couple of times to be in the know, the only time they reached out to me was with estimates. My scooter was at the shop for a week, the day it finally got on the lift it was ready within a couple of hours. I was told they were waiting on parts, however, when I was at the shop the mechanic himself told me they pulled parts from a similar two wheeler... other parts were cleaned to fix the issues. The "new" part I did notice was the handlebars (heavy scratches), which completely changed the look of the scooter and ruined what I had going. I told the mechanic I hated them and it was THEN he told me the other option was to trim the wires but that was "expensive." I found that offensive, it was in my budget but the decision was made for me. To top off the experience, after I payed... when the scooter was handed over, I noticed the seat was not attached. Had I not realized, I could have been hurt. Overall I do not recommend. The fact that the lady at the counter and the mechanic were really nice factor into my review. If you need a quick fix to get moving, based on my experience, this is not the place. read more

These are observations from not one experience.. but about a half dozen. I've taken my bike here many times. Unfortunately, they suck. Usually I take it here because they are so close to my house, and I don't feel like getting it towed somewhere else. I can push it here practically. But each time... I'm like... ok, here we go again. Brace myself for something crappy. Here's why they are bad: 1) They always go way later then estimated time: aka have in 2 days means have in 2 weeks. 2) They break your bike, then jerry rig it back together. Weird stuff. They'll bypass electrical things with hacked wires. Will weld things together that should be replaced. Etc. 3) They always "get sent the wrong part" from the store. That's their standard excuse when they go late. 4) They always "find new issues wrong." Stuff that you wouldn't think would be wrong. Like "the bike didn't start when we tried it" - even though I never experienced that once. 5) Check EVERYTHING before you leave with your bike. There is a good chance something else isn't working, because they broke it. And you don't want to have the hassle of going home, seeing a new thing is broke, then deal with taking it back in. Yeah. Just don't come here. Sorry, Al. You're a nice guy - but I've given you many chances and now I'm done. read more

BEWARE It's no jewel but I take care of my bike. I paid $60 for 2 1/2 weeks of indoor storage so it would be safe. Well, The bike was left outside in the rain, and it got all rusted, major wiring problems, no turn signals, dead power outlet and dirtier than it had ever been, plus the starter they installed squeals every time I start it. read more

Took my 1968 Honda CL450 here so they could look at the carbs. Told me it wouldn't be a problem and would take a day. Returned the following day and nothing had been done. Same thing the next day. And the next day. They finally got around to it, charged me $200 bucks and the bike started sputtering after a couple days. Although, Mike the mechanic has been nothing but nice to me and has been taking care of my bike, the other staff have lost crucial parts of my bike (rear wheel spacer) and made me pay for replacement, they have scratched a fresh painted and expensive paint job, they have failed to order parts that they charged in advance, they have done very poor installations on very common and simple jobs like HID conversions. I've been to Al's twice now and they've been treating me pretty well. First time was for a basic oil change, and the mechanic went as far as to tighten my mirrors, custom pegs, as well as walk me through how to change the oil myself. The second time I came in with an undetermined electrical problem between a CDI module/Pick-up coil and a budget. Most mechanics would jump at the opportunity to delay finding the problem as to rack in extra hours of labor, but Al was completely straight forward. Not only was his estimate CHEAPER than the final bill, but his guys waxed down my bike too. I'll be coming back, definitely, and you should too. The 4/5 is so they don't get all cocky. . gotta have room to grow : ) read more

I paid the bill, & got a broken bike, missing parts, very late turnaround, lies, dishonesty, trashed bike, scratched, overall in bad condition. I hate to write a review like this, especially because the people in the shop were so friendly, but the service I received was absolutely terrible. My bike hadn't been in the shop for a while so it was time for a good tune up and a bit of work. I spent $840, got the bike after a couple weeks and started riding. I quickly noticed that the chain I'd paid to be replaced hadn't been. I took it back and they replaced it, but I was slightly annoyed to have to make the trip back and wait. Then a week later, noticed that the two main bolts that secure the front fork to the frame hadn't been put back in. Another trip back. This is a huge oversight, not to mention potentially life-threatening; I was lucky I noticed it. On top of this they split a fuel line I had to fix a few weeks later, and when they put the bike back together it was sloppily done without even connecting things properly. I can say hands down that this was the worst work I've ever had done on a car or bike and it's a little embarassing that I paid for that kind of service. read more

We were referred to Al's by the person we bought our scooter from...BIG mistake on our part for taking his word for it!!! I really wish I would have checked them out on here first! First of all, they charged us almost double the price they quoted us. They said they would do a free tune up and oil change, then charged for the oil! And when we finally got a call to pick it up they said they had it ready earlier but had lost our number. So when we finally got it back after over paying for the services, it runs like shit! And they refuse to take another look at it!!!! Screw these guys, never use them for ANY repairs or services. You would be better off doing it yourself using a youtube video!!!!!!! read more

Above and beyond! Incredible service, super friendly, and I'm just honestly super satisfied. They took great care of my bike. Even though it was just a tire change they oiled up the chain and hinges, they were quick on the service too. So what's the deal with this shop?? It's awesome! That's the deal! I call the staff here ANYTIME for all my questions on my old KZ. They've replaced my tires, installed my Hagon shocks, fixed a flat, put new rear brakes on, replaced the chain, oil change.. Not to mention all the great advice & recommendations just from talking to them & they take time to talk. Maybe my work sounds simple or minor but it's done right the first time & quick & most important for me affordable :) I've had tires shipped to them & they install with no problem & great price on labor! They've NEVER over sold me & ALWAYS quote what I pay... I call ahead before I show up so I don't have a long wait...I've had work done on my hour lunch break without any problem but I call ahead first... I've waited 8 months to post this because I read some of the bad reviews so guess what??? They're wrong..... This place is legit! Thanks for keeping my old bike running great guys! read more
