Not good at all!!! AL is greedy cheater, overcharges, making up labor hours, his men working slow, constantly losing parts and not knowing how to put it back. Using customer's bikes for their own leisure,I saw it myself, and actually damaging them. Month ago brought my Harley for small repair, had to leave bike for several days paid ridiculous amount only to find their failure to put things back right way and lying day after day. Save yourself time and money and share if you know good repair shop. Read 10pages of Other's real reviews, you'll get real info. He even had to change business name because of constant low rating. Also they didn't give me my original bars after they installed some ape bars. Another really annoying thing about this place is that they can't explain why the bars would be so expensive yo do. The secretary says it's because they have to wire them inside the bars but when I saw it they were just clipped to the outside of the bars. Please find another place. Stay away from here. You will be hustled. 1. First time I came in, I was a beginner, did not know much about bikes. Needed valva adjustment. The owner and mike took a look at it, and basically the owner "short guy" asked me wether I authorize the repair, and I was puzzled why he asked this question twice. Now I know why. It would be his answer for latter on, when I ask them why the estimated amount on my bike tripled. They stuffed bunch of BS charges there, such as "clutch cable was jammed, brake needed this, you were missing this screw, that screw". 2. The minute they sense an opportunity, they will hustle you to your last penny. They are bunch of crooks and criminals, who got a location from where they can effectively scam people out of their hard earned cash. Also, every time a mechanic comes out to smoke, clear smoke of weed comes back following them. I work at a dispensary, no problem with weed, but not sure how would you feel about your bike mechanic getting high and working on your bike. 3. finally, After paying $1200 for a $400 job, my engine sprocket pops out while going 90mph on the freeway. Mike, the mechanic forgot to tighten it up. 4. The owner keeps calling, following up with questions to fake a customer service, but guess what??? The owner knows nothing about bikes himself. he is not a mechanic, can't even change an oil. There is only one guy who knows something about it, and the rest of them are just bunch of ex cons, who are either in front of home depot asking for manual labour gig or here at Al's Cycle Shop, "Repairing" someones $8-$9000 bike, guy didn't even know where the oil filter is. This is their family racket, nothing less, nothing more, and those are just bunch of crooks, who will legally hustle you for your hard earned money, do not go through this horrible experience. there are number of reputible shops such as Cycledepot, Holmes Powersport, etc, Despite it's central location, this is not a place to go, and all the negative reviews can't be coincidences, stay away from here!!!! read more

This place is second to none. Al's is one of those rare gems that since I've found (they're a sliver, just south of where Glendale fwy becomes Glendale blvd), I'll never go anywhere else. They have the best prices on tires, and since Al's gives you full view of the garage where the work is done, you know exactly what you're paying for. You can, literally, stand right over the person working on your bike, if you wanted to**. (**don't. it's super annoying, and most of these guys are bigger than you!) Better yet, sit and wait with Bruno --the giant, ultra-sweet shop-dog, and see for yourself just how great this crew is with all those beautiful choppers, cruisers and sport bikes. Gay-choppers too, no one is here to judge. Recently, my partner moved in with me, and their compromise to riding with me was installing a sissy bar for safety. The other compromise was not calling them "sissy" any more than absolutely necessary (hint: seven). This was a custom job from the ground up, and through Al's, we managed to manufacture a solution that is better than anything I have seen online and for an incredible price. Big shout-out to Big Mike for this one, the backrest is so comfortable, is full length, and as a bonus, looks total bad-ass! They did a beautiful job re-doing both my seats as well, with a color that really pops and ties everything together. (Seriously, it feels like my ass is being cradled by sweet, baby angels.) We had a small snag with the initial design, but as their sign says it's all warrantied, so Al was more-than-fair with the repairs that completed the work, better than before. All in all, I'm sure no one is reading this far (except Al, perhaps?) but thanks so much to the wonderful shop who, for years, has treated my bike like one of their own. read more

If I could give this place Zero Stars I would... Do not go to this place unless you have alot of money or your bike is very expensive. They will promise you the whole world to get your business, but they do not follow up with you or keep ANY of their promises if you are poor, or do not fit there qualifications for treating you like a decent customer. I dropped off my bike to them to get some tail lights installed and to have a basic tune up done (oil change, spark plugs etc). I asked for AL personally to make sure that what we talked about was taken care of. Al promised to have my bike ready in no longer then 2-3 days. I gave him 4, and when I went to the shop my bike wasn't even touched, besides it having a new flat tire! Of course Al was very upset when I accused him of "promising" me something that he never actually promised. Through all the bs I actually gave him another chance to fix my bike, I told him the least he could've done was the oil change so I could have paid for that at least. One and a half week goes by and nothing is done to my bike, these guys are F'N RIDICULOUS. My tire is still flat, AL actually offered to buy and sell my bike for a profit! You see all those bikes in front of his shop? That is how he gets those bikes, offers to fix em and never does...then offers to sell them for you for a broker fee! I had just purchased a 2002 Yamaha Virago and wanted a mechanic to "look it over" and see if it had anything major wrong with it. I went to Al's, but felt a little awkward arriving at the shop a few minutes before opening, and riding my new 250, as it seemed like all the other bikes were much larger. I was met by Mike, who immediately put me at ease. I told him how I had just purchased the bike and I needed a mechanic's opinion of its condition. He took it for a spin and returned with a short list of items that needed to be repaired. It would take a day or so for the new parts to arrive, but in any event, my bike would be ready by the end of the week. Al then wrote up a work order and explained exactly what they would be doing and how much it would cost. This is a perfect example of "you get what you pay for" and more! Al's prices are reasonable and fair, but you just can't put a price on customer service. Mike went beyond doing the basic repairs, and noted my front tire was worn and the shop offered to replace it for free! My bike was ready when promised. When I brought it back for the front tire replacement, the headlight had developed a problem. Mike diagnosed the problem immediately, fixed it, and I left once again a very happy camper. I cannot say enough about the customer service at Al's Cycle Shop. The atmosphere is laidback (but noting business comes first), the people at Al's make you feel important, and everyone is very friendly. (I can see why they're so busy!) I recently won a court case against them after they illegally put a lien on my vehicle (my dead father gave me) after weeks of me calling asking if it was done they told me that they would call me when it was finished and I randomly stopped by to see that they had put a lien on it and said I had to pay to get it out. I took them to court as they did not notify me of a lien, and I won the case. Multiple times I was told over the phone that my bike was not there, and he had moved into a separate location and it would be fixed soon, when I randomly stopped by I found my bike in the front. They gave me the bike back due to the court order after I had to pay them a whopping 500 dollars for "storage fees", I was making good money at the time so I paid it just to get it over with but it was conveniently stolen a few days later from my house. Suffice to say after six months absolutely nothing was fixed on it and the fact that they thought I was living in an RV at the time these guys could take full advantage of the situation. Cannot believe this place is still in business, especially after the owner has changed locations, and had to remove his name from the business lisence. Let's not mention the two employees I watched hitting a crack pipe across the street. Do not take it here. These people are criminals, when I finally collected it one of them walked up and said "dang it's a nice bike! I was trying to keep it!" . I feel bad for his kid. They offer a small discount when you first sign up if you give a 5 star yelp review, which explains the amount. This place needs to be shut down. read more

There is only one reason why I am leaving a 4 Star Rating and that reason's name is Jose. Seriously the shop as a whole is full of crooks that will rip apart your bike and charge you for triple the labor it actually took to do the job, but there is only diamond in the rough. That diamond's name is Jose Sanki. I took my bike to Al's for a small oil leak that was about the size of a dime and for a new belt drive. 2 weeks and $300 later I finally got my bike back...... for two hours. After 2 hours of riding I noticed the oil was there and even larger than before, on top of that the engine was making a horrible noise because Luis had left some bolts loose around the engine and main exhaust. After I brought it back, Luis and Al claimed to oil leak was coming from another place and I would have to pay another $300 to fix it. I declined their estimate and when I came to get my bike it was torn apart and they wanted me to pay them $100 to put it back together. After all of the drama I went through, THE ONE HONEST MECHANIC IN THAT SHOP, JOSE SANKI, offered to work on my bike and said he'd do it for "whatever amount I could pay." Not only did Jose fix my oil leak, but he did a complete overhaul on my bike free of charge!!! HE EVEN SHOWED ME WHAT TOOLS I NEED TO WORK ON MY BIKE MYSELF!!! Seriously the greatest guy! Last but not least he even followed up with me for the next few days to make sure everything was ok. I honestly wish there was a "Jose's Cycle Shop" because he is the only reason this place isn't getting a horrible review from me. read more

Excellent service at Al's Cycle Shop..!!! I have had work done there since i bought a 1990 gsxr-750 about 6 months ago. This bike had a ton of problems when i bought it. I have had tires,breaks, chain,sprockets and complete tune up done at Al's .. all with excellent results. I noticed the bike was sputtering after i got the tune up done.. Al sent his driver all the way to Redondo Beach(20 miles one way) to pick the bike up so they could make good on the work done.. I should say that this bike is one of those old ones that can have problem after problem .Old gsxr's are known to be tempermental at times and synchronizing the carbs can be difficult. But Al made good. After picking up the bike he had Rojas work his magic,, The carbs were cleaned and the jets flushed . The carbs were a real headache for Rojas.He worked hard all day and fineally after much effort ,he got it totally dialed in to perfection. He examined the throtle ,clutch cable,re-routed the pvc tube and answered all of my questions. Mike also lended a hand as well as the other mechanics ..all in an effort to make a happy customer out of me. I am very happy with the service and will gladly return for more work to be done in the future. It's a great place to stop in and have your bike worked on while you wait too. I saw customer after customer stop in to get work done while they waited. They are specialists in the satisfaction department. Give em a chance and they will not disappoint you. I give em 5 stars. I've been going to Al's for a while now and the reason I keep coming back is because of the good service I get. Yes, Al has a little attitude but who doesn't. He's always there and willing to help and I have no problem with that. You can take your bike to the Dealer and you'll see how much more you are going to pay and how long you are going to have to wait to get your bike fix. If you want to spend a lot of money and wait a long time for your bike to get fix, This is not the place for you. My experiences at Al's have been positive, they take care of my bikes pretty fast and I think the prices are reasonable. I've been at other shops and I only went once cause of the pricing. They have made mistakes on my bikes but when I talk to Al or Mike, they always solve the problem free of charge and I'm good to go. The mechanics are great and they are also funny. I can always count on these guys to get my bike fixed. I can also ask these guys questions and they are always willing to give me a real answer with out just thinking about them making more money. The place looks a lot better since Al took over. It's cleanr, freshly painted, good music and it just feels like a bikers shop. I feel good and confident that when I take my bike there it will get fix right, and if there is a problem, they always resolve it right away. Service is Good! Pricing is good Great Warranty!! A few weeks ago I decided to go to this shop to have my sports bike serviced. I spoke to the owner and he said I needed a minor service and carburetor cleanup for my bike. He gave it to Mike, the service manager and I spoke to him and asked him, "How long you think my service will take?" He told me that it would take a couple hours at most. So I decided to wait at the shop since I was told it wouldn't take that long. While I was waiting the strong smell of pot hit me. I started to doubt whether this was a genuine business. Then Mike began to speak in a derogatory way towards people of color. I thought to myself, "I might have not picked the best shop to fix my bike." At 3:00 I had been waiting since 10:00 for the service to be finished. All of a sudden Mike disappears and I am left alone waiting for my bike to be finished. It's 6:00 and my bike is still not done! What kind of establishment runs in this matter? I returned the next day to find Mike working on my bike. My bike was finished at 11:00. I was thoroughly disappointed with the service I received at this shop. After I paid for the service I headed home on my bike. To my surprise it broke down 5 blocks away from the shop. What kind of service is this?? What kind of mechanic was this? I'm never coming back to this shop and I advise anyone looking for repairs on their bike to avoid this shop. read more

After seeing some positive reviews about Al's Cycle Shop, I decided that I would go check out their service myself because I need to fix a tire on my bike. So at first everything went fine. Mike told me the job would take half an hour at most. I told him that I would be back within two hours. When I came back nothing had been done with my tire and Mike said it would be done by the end of the day. I was disappointed with the service but I thought he would keep his word. I was mistaken. I came back at the end of the day to find that my tire still hadn't been fixed. I was surprised because other shops with worse reviews had given me better service than this. Mike told me he would finish it first thing tomorrow morning. After being lied to twice I doubted he would get my bike done by that time so I came back later the next day around 2 hoping it would be done. When i walked into the shop everyone in the shop look busy except Mike. He seemed pretty laid back drinking a beer when he should of been working on my bike. Eventually my tire was fixed. However, it should have taken 30 minutes. In my book 30 minutes does not equate to a day and a half. I was very disappointed with the service and I don't think I'm every coming back again. I came to YELP to get the phone number for Al's shop as I had moved, but now that I am back in the area, I was going to take my bike for a tune up. I saw all of these negative comments and I had to put in my review because I have known Mike since 2002 and have known Al for about 4 years now. These guys are straight up. No bulls**t here. If you know what a "man's man" is, then you know that these guys don't have time for wussies, let alone beat around the bush. I am very upset to see these negative reviews since I have received nothing but the very best or service and help. I have been stranded in the middle of the night and had no one to call. I texted Al around two in the morning just to see if he would even reply and he had one of his tow guys come and pick me up, take me home and tow my bike to the shop. What other shop would ever do that? I have been in financial hardship, but needed my bike to be fixed and Al took care of me. You just have to be honest and honorable with them, just as they are. I believe both Mike's are really experienced and they know their craft. Al is fair with pricing and he always suggests at least one more option or solution. My grandpa used to say that in life, you need a good doctor and a good mechanic. I am glad to say, I found my mechanic. read more
