The staff treated us like guests. Gave us tips on how long to reheat the ham and cheese croissant, etc. The way this woman described the donuts, you can tell she takes great pride in her products, and with good reason. The donuts were light, fluffy, melt in your mouth. The flavors were on point. Not oily and not overly sweet, but still felt decadent. I'm going to have to say after today we're very unhappy. So regular donuts 1.20 twists or bars 1.55 1 dozen 11.99. So I ordered 1 dozen I got 10 regular rounds and 2 twists. I get to the register and my total is 15.60? Um I thought the dozen was 11.99? She said the twists are extra. Okay, I pay and walk out. I'm pretty pissed now because I'm sure that they just ripped me off along with how many others? So instead of charging me the 11.99 for the dozen and the difference in price for the twists .35 cent each she charged me per donut. So I was overcharged. So with the CC .50 cent fee I should've been charged 13.19 NOT 15.60. So make sure you watch how they charge you and the donuts have gotten very dry. So dry the toppings just chip off before you can eat it. read more

This IS my favorite donut shop in Northern California. Now I haven't been to 100s of donut shops but the 15 or so I have been to don't compare to Al's. Donut heaven is what AL's is, by far superior to any donut shop or bakery. You walk in and the place is clean and the case is full of DONUTS, CAKE ONES, FILLED & GLAZED ONES SPRINKLED,PEANUT & PLAIN ONES , ASSORTED DANISH, CHOCOLATE CROISSANTS OH and in the case next to the counter you will find their COCONUT DONUT PKEASE GET YOURSELF ONE... and they have a really big donut also it's only $5. The crew is friendly and they know their donuts and always great you with a smile.. don't forget to grab a cup of their delicious coffee.. they take cash and debit or credit . My only negative is I like my donuts to come in a box and they put them in a bag and it mushes them and the frosting comes off. But you do get the general donuts and pastries that most love. This place also happens to be just a hop, skip and jump from my place of work. So seeing it all the time is forsure kinda....hard. Because my mind is always "Telling me No" but my "Stomach is always telling me Yes" so "I don't see nothing wrong with a Custard Filled Donut Baby" They even gotten to the point to just incase have what I usually like to buy waiting for me just in case I come in so I could pay right away. Pretty cool if you ask me. Service/Hospitality: The Service is pretty good here, always with a smile and you could tell the people here like doing what they do. I usually order myself a "Maple Custard Filled Donut" $1.35 and a "Jelly Filled" $1.35 sometimes I would change it up a bit and get myself a "Crumb" $1.00 or a "Cheese Danish" $2.20 so the options are there, they even have sodas, juices, energy drinks, water, and for you savory lovers "Ham and Cheese Croissants" $3.25. Like I said, all the options for your donut loving desire. Overall: Not a bad place to get your donut fix, only down side is I think they don't make enough product sometimes as they run out of donuts pretty fast, but at the same time that may not be so bad....anyway, one of the few decent donut establishments in the East Bay, in particular the Pittsburg, Antioch, Oakley and Brentwood areas. Has the flavor of a original donuts. There is no holding back on the chocolate, maple icing or the custard/jelly filling. So good!!! They even have a big doughnut good for like a birthday.
